Rahil Tandoori in The Vale of Glamorgan

I’ve been a customer now for only two years. Each time the service has been excellent. The staff always greet you with a smile and are very professional and well dressed. The meals are always fantastic and have never been disappointed. Whether it’s a lamb biryani, chicken nagga, vegetable curry or my go to lamb and spinach balti, I’m always happy. Highly recommended.

Food is average and the little delivery driver needs to be sacked. Never before has a delivery driver swear at me because he had to wait for me to walk down some stairs to get the delivery

Great food, great service and very well priced.

Pleasantly surprised by this because the rating on the door was 3 star. Staff were friendly and attentive with out being in your face. We had poppadoms and chicken pakora to start. Then 2 different lamb curries with rice plus keema and peshawar nans. 2 alcohol drinks and 1 soft. All food was tasty. Biggest surprise was the bill at 47. Pity their rating is on the low side as this will put people off slightly but they will miss a good one.

What's happened at the Rahil - it's gone really downhill. We waited an hour and a half, when the food arrived it was tiny portions, mine had 6 small bits of chicken and several halves of undercooked onion to fill the dish. The onion bhajis and naan breads were undercooked and doughy. It was truly awful and I won't be going again. It used to be first class 😞

The food was up there with the best.And what was really weird was , he new the owner of our old favourite ( sadly gone ) Indian restaurant on canvy island essex.

The restaurant had a chill vibe to it. We did go quite late and there weren't as many people which was good for us. The staff was very friendly and involved themselves in conversations with us. Food was very very aromatic and different to anywhere else I've had this dish before. I had Karahi chicken and I did find that it was on the spicy side. It is meant to be a medium dish and I felt like my mouth was on fire when had it here. The staff offered to make it milder as they did see I was struggling and they did this by adding coconut milk to it I believe and also some sort of sweetner which slightly changed everything the dish overall as it then turned into a sweet curry, similar to korma which I am not a fan off but it was say 20% like a Korma so not too bad. I really liked the dish I had though minus the spiciness level but I have been told that this is normally how spicy this dish should be so maybe everywhere else that I've had it, may have watered it down. Regardless of this, I think it's a great restaurant to go to and would recommend you check it out!

Always good, been coming here for years and easily the best in the area. tasty authentic Indian food. Sauces good quality full of flavour, the meats perfect, quick delivery even at busy times. Restaurant also same good quality food, staff very welcoming and friendly. I would recommend Lahori Karahi Gosht lamb and Khushboo chicken. 10/10

We always love an Indian meal and always try different ones on or travels. Admittedly the Rahil was our our second choice as the other local was fully booked, but that turned out to be lucky for us, as it was a great experience. The staff were very friendly and the food was suberb, my only slight quarm, was that there was no lime pickle to go with the poppadoms.

Came for the first time with friends last night. Really friendly service, great food and portion size and excellent value for money. Will definitely be back.

Rated as one if not the Best Indian Restaurant that I have ever visited, the food is always excellent and considerately well above other Restaurants and served with such professionalism with smartly dressed waiters. Both the Food and Drinks are reasonably priced and what I find unusual is it has a great Wine Selection of both Red and White Bottled Wines. Tasty food. We placed order online, by the time we reached the restaurant. the order was ready for pickup. Kofta curry was sweet, oops I didn't realise, other curries were tasty. NaN and roti was really very good.

Best place to have an Indian in the entire town perhaps even Cardiff.

Horrible food and disappointing service would not recommend

Food is nice. But what let's this place down is thar the staff are soooooooo rude. No manners, no smiles. Very abrupt. We spent a lot and had loads left over, they didn't bag our stuff up to take home and just took it away! Also stop trying to take the poppadoms and mint sauce away. No we haven't finished. Also find the talk to the men such as my partner, don't even look at women when talking. Very odd. Shame the staff are so rude because the food is actually nice. Won't be back here.

After years of using the same takeaway, tonight we decided on a change at the Rahil. Totally exceed expectations. The food was absolutely gorgeous, fresh ingredients and cooked to perfection. Looks like we found our new Indian takeaway. Thank you to the chefs for a wonderfully, delicious meal.

If you love good quality Indian cuisine and excellent service, we highly recommend a visit to Rahil Tandoori in Barry. The food was good quality, service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and we had a very pleasant experience and an enjoyable evening. Full dining with drinks for four persons came in at under £100, which was surprisingly reasonable considering the quality. We would also like to give our personal thanks to the owner for his warm welcome and good-will. Barry is very lucky to have such a great restaurant to hand!

Average food. Forgot some items. Was funny about using different cards to pay because it costs them. Fair enough, but not our problem. Some cash paid, didn't bring all the change over, just the pounds... I guess they decided people won't notice and pocket the change when they can. Clearing off the whole table when people still eating. And the weirdest moment was when my friend was brought his chips, then a minute or so later, the guy came back out with only one small chip in is fingers(!) and chucked (no exaggeration) it on to his bowl of chips (at which point it fell out of the bowl anyway)... Sooo... Where's the chip come from? Why are you using your fingers? And why did you think that that one small chip HAD to be brought out and added to the other chips. Weird. General consensus from us all was that we won't bother with this restaurant again.

Food is lovely here, however the service can be very hit and miss. I ordered a take away(to collect) which I was told would be half and hour, when I get there its busy and I make myself known to the guy at the counter that I'm here to collect my order. I then have to wait another half an hour for it to come out. So half and hour has now turned into an hour, in all fairness I was apologised to for the wait. I get my stuff and then drive home. Its a good 10 mins back to my house as we live at the other end of Barry. We start to take everything out of the bag and the chips are missing, by this point I'm starving and can't be arsed to drive all the way back for someing that I've been charged for, and I want going to phone up and wait until they brought me something. In future I will check everything before Ieave as they can't be trusted when it's busy, this is not the 1st time that this has happened to me here either. Food still tastes great though.

An undiscovered treasure. First visit and won’t be our last. Very warm, friendly welcome. Good service, neither rushed or slow. Food was delicious / generous portion and all came to table piping hot. Loved the condiment trays they used for chutneys (and the chutneys themselves). Meal wrapped up with hot lemon towels for your hands. Bill came with a little chocolate sweet and, a complimentary liqueur. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Been going here for years, staff are amazing always welcoming. Recommendations from them are helpful and delicious! I had the chicken Kushboo. Indian beers served in bottles, Cobra & Kingfisher.

Nice food just bit stingey on the poppadoms when you spend over £100

Food was lovely service was great but what let’s this down is the fact that they advertise aircon when they knowingly know that it’s broken,I mean it must be as old as the building when u see it mind,,if we all had known that we would of gone else where , instead we all kept going outside for air as it was so warm inside, great in the winter months but I’d avoid in the summer months but like I said food lovely but the sweat just pours off your heads ….!

Our local curry house (only 1 min walk luckily!) And hands down the best curry I have had. Find the takeaway prices really reasonable.I have tried a few others in barry but always end up coming back here. What I will say is just by being there collecting on a busy evening the deliveries are really busy so I would always advise collecting if you can.

Service wasn't the best, took ages to be served then felt rushed to get us out of the place. Food was nice but some elements were undercooked. Passable and pleasant enough but sadly nothing special.

Awful meal, food and sauces clearly from a Comercial batch of readymade disgusting sludge, with maybe just maybe some colour or flavours added to change the appearance for different dishes. Should have guessed looking at the menu far too many dishes listed to be even possible to a decent standard. Would not let me keep the bill!! So ended up taking it back off the waiter and took picture of it, before he took it back again, has to be a fiddle going on here why can’t I have a copy of my bill!,

Was visiting my daughter in Barry. We were going home for indian delivery when we noticed this restaurant was open. Omg! How glad we were the food was the best I've ever had and will definitely return. Warm and friendly welcome by a lovely young man. Although we couldn't understand Indian he seemed to be being bossed around by the owner and we just want to say he is doing a fabulous job !..... Covid restrictions were adhered to ! We had the chicken tikka masala and it was beautiful, so fragrant ! We will definitely return when we are in Barry again and I highly recommend ! Thanks Rahil.

We visited during our weekend trip to Barry and Indians is favorite food so we made sure to book a curry in advance! We’ve tried loads of places away from home and often hesitant as to weither the curry will be as nice but very pleasantly surprised! Lovely meal and will return whenever we come back to Barry!

Ordered a curry at 6:20 was told 1-1 1/2hrs phones at 8pm was told it was on its way had left ages ago phoned back at 8:40 as it still hadn’t arrived. The food arrived at 8:45 the curries had all leaked and the food was STONE COLD and it took a really hard scrub to get the oil off all table. 1st time using this place as it was recommended and definitely the last.

I've eaten in here on three occasions with a different party each time (6 people total) and the food has always been great. I've had the vindaloo each time and the spice is balanced perfectly with the taste. The service was perfect and if they were on just-eat or foodhub, I'd order for takeaway as many times as the wife will let me. I haven't dealt with cash in years, sorry!Pre-covid and post-covid, not too much has changed. It's a fairly small venue, but I've experienced no issues with social distancing in there. Obviously, your social distancing experience is dependant on the people around you and we haven't had any people acting crazy in there.In my experience (and I'm pretty sure I've had every takeaway in Barry), Rahil has the best tasting Indian food in Barry.

Totally rubbish to long for delivery and when it arrived it was missing food. Phoned and told them it arrived 35 mins later after 2 calls. Food not that good, service zero. Won't use again value for money zero

Please please please, think twice when ordering a takeaway for delivery They obviously concentrate more on in-house orders , as they will probably deliver what we have received tonight, half of placed order and absolutely freezing cold , with chips I can only describe as what they did not sell yesterday, after expressing our concerns ( mrs ranting on phone ) they didn't seem bothered but offered same meal free of charge next time , but I really do think once bitten, not again So please please please take heed

Had a takeaway. The order over the phone was taken professionally. Only waited for a short time and the food was delivered to our house. The delivery driver was happy and acknowledged me with sir, good evening and thank you. Well what can I say about the food. It was delivered hot and presented nicely. Our food was beautiful. The chunks of chicken in my Nawabi was cooked perfectly, it cut with a spoon. The vegetable Biryani's were beautiful. ALL the food was eaten. Phoned them after our food to say thank you. Always GREAT food from Rahil in Barry.

Absolutely amazing food , I swapped to these guys recently because our usual place has gone right downhill.... but tonight I was refused an order . I've always paid by card, tonight we go through the order, I say I want to pay by card as I don't keep money at home... and they refused . I pointed out I always pay by card, sorry but not tonight the person on the other end said !! Fine . I guess your reputation is such that you don't need or appreciate my business . That's okay, we shall find an alternative. I thought we had found a good one in this place, clearly my business is not wanted.

Just returned home after a wonderful experience at the Rahil Restaurant Holto Road, Barry. We were greeted by a hands free sanitizer at the door, very professional, immediately felt safe. Staff were very welcoming, service excellent, wine well chilled. My husband had balti dish with coconut rice and I had chicken tikka massala with plain nan bread. All served piping hot, a perfect meal and a perfect night.....

We attended this restaurant on 30th August 2020 just by going on the reviews from TripAdvisor, 3 families 15 in total....BE WARNED THE GUY WHO TAKES YOUR ORDERS *MR.ALAM*....(you can't miss him, he apparently runs the whole show at this place) He has no manners, obnoxious, rude, ruthless, abrupt & *very aggressive*.... remember this is a place where customers come to eat & spend their money & expect to be treated politely throughout their dining experience. Mr.Alam was very rude & aggressive throughout our stay here, I would like to mention that the food was at no fault thanks to the Chef's in the kitchen, but Mr.Alam ruined our day, by his aggressive rudeness nature, we're not the only ones in the restaurant that day complaining....there were 3 local ladies who felt exactly the say & would also be writing their opinion on TripAdvisor.To order 330ml beers & be served the larger bottles was the start, we challenged him that we ordered the smaller beers so why serve the larger size "it's my job to make more money from you that's my business" well it didn't work I refused to be charged for something I didn't order, that made him so aggressive he was shouting as if I were making it up.... secondly there were nearly 3 Hours for the restaurant to close, yet he said that he couldn't serve us 3 Chappatis because the kitchen staff are busy (ingredients to make a tandoori roti & Chappati are identical, one is made on a flat pan, the other in a tandoor oven, Chappati is cooked much sooner than in the tandoor) Later on in the evening when the food was finally served & we wanted more Chappatis he blatantly refused & said " we can't make anymore you should have ordered all of them before", "if you want more go & make it yourself" so aggressive & rude from this guy who in reality has no manners how to talk to paying customers, my sister & myself then actually went to the kitchen to ask the chef's their issues in not being able to cook what we ordered, they were so sincere & apologetic in Mr.Alam's mannerisms & said there's no issues we will make whatever you require as there is plenty of time. His brother Mr.Haq (Mo) on the other hand was totally the opposite, polite & courteous. After the meal when we left just as we were about to leave sitting in our cars, Mr. Alarm came to our cars and apologised for his very rude behaviour, only because his brother told him about him being so loud & aggressive towards us.If the owners of this establishment are reading this comment then my advice to them would be to have a talk with Mr.Alam about keeping his cool instead of being so aggressively rude & trying to put paying customers down in the restaurant.

Apparently the best Lahore Kori Goste I have ever had last night in this place!!!!Came up with family and friends all the way from Birmingham and we had been recommended this place and it was little busy being day before bank holiday but we enjoyed our Satay . Can be recommended to all ....

Visited here within the last week as it was a family members birthday,We all thought let’s do the dine out help out thing and have a beautiful meal at a fraction of the cost,It was or first time dining out since covid 19 became a part of everyone’s life,Upon arrival a guest on the adjacent table thought it would be more comfortable to put their chair mid way between both tables and total ignore any social distancing,What are the rules with filling a restaurant?Why aren’t the management policing it?I guess ram as many people in as you can for maximum profit,Food very good,Service about average,Toilets , no hand towels or blower to dry hands and no sanitizer in WC,Some sanitizer in bar area,Bill brought to table a bit sharpish and told to leave in about 10 minutes because other people were due in,I’m normally very fair with reviews but the gaps between tables were more than tight,And I truly believe ram them in for maximum profit,

Beautiful food . Poor service . Tables not socially distance and restaurant full . I watched a waiter drop a drink which splashed all over a customer. No apology given at all . The drink was just left to soak in to the carpet and her clothes . Very rude .

First order lovely next order not too bad 3rd order was terrible the lamb balti I ordered was awfull the lamb was so tough I couldn't cut it and you had to chew chew and chew it was like leather boots wont be ordering again

Food arrived much later than stated when placing the order. Customer service was very poor today and very small portion of curry and rice. Order was wrong and took a lot of persuasion from my husband over the phone to get them to rectify the mistake. Shame really as the food is usually really nice.

Rahil was my go-to when I lived in Barry. It’s incredible and always at a high standard! I recently moved to penarth and the curry houses here just don’t even compare and so the 20min drive back to Barry it totally worth it!

Out for my birthday dinner. No welcome when entering restaurant at 8.05pm. Walked through to the bar, waited for around five minutes before any acknowledgement from staff who were obvs very busy with a full restaurant. Finally asked if we could get a table and were told to wait a minute. Finally sat at 8.10pm. Given menus. No smiles or welcomes. Asked if we would like poppadoms we said yes pls and ordered a drink. The poppadoms were quick to arrive and we ate these. At 8.45pm we had still not ordered any food nor did any staff come over to the table again so we got up and asked for the bill. We should not have been sat if they were too busy. We should have been told there was an hour wait to even order. Ruined my birthday. Managed to get a takeaway from over the road .

After my last outstanding review of Rahil in Barry, it saddens me to have to write this... we ordered a takeaway yesterday evening. On line and on the menu it states that it is 15% off when you collect. So I did this but they did not take the 15% off. When I went to collect, they told me that you can’t chose the set meal for 1 and get this deal, but it does not state this anywhere on line or on the menu and they honoured it the last 2 times I have ordered from them without any questions etc. Also they charged me an extra £1.05 because I asked for a peshwari nan instead of plain nan even though they cost the same and again... this wasn’t added the last time I ordered from them. Any way regardless of this we were very happy with the taste and presentation of the food but the small rice tray was not as full as it could’ve been. To top all this off there was a piece of plastic wrapper in my side salad which ended up on my plate in my curry.

We were a party of five adults and two children. The staff were very helpful as it was the first time for the children to taste curry! All our food was delicious and very reasonable prices.

Nice curry but very quiet there.

Ate here recently and was very impressed. The menu has an extensive choice of dishes to choose from. I went for the chicken tikka shashlik bhuna which was absolutely gorgeous. tender chunks of marinated chicken in a thick rich sauce. The poppadums are genuinely the nicest I have ever eaten anywhere! Staff are very friendly, have a good sense of humour and are very accommodating. Restaurant is nice and spacious and has a nice ambiance. In my honest opinion this restaurant rates far higher than other local Indian Restaurants that have been tried. Shall definitely be returning and recommending The Rahil to family & friends. Thanks.

Went here for a friend's 30th and there was a large crowd but the staff still managed to wait on us in a good timescale. Food was absolutely lovely and would highly recommend people go there.

This is a great Indian. The food is always fresh and very tasty. Prices are really good. Would highly recommend either eating in or getting a take away.

If I could give this place a 0 stars I absolutely would. Came here to meet with family who we don’t see often for food including a 3 year old little girl. Party of 6 arrived singing, drunk, swearing out of their minds. A family member had to ask them to be quiet which they refused and started to mock her loudly and swearing across the restaurant. Restaurant staff wouldn’t even ask them to calm down or even be quiet whilst everyone else tried to enjoy their food. To top it off all of the food arrived an hour and a half after ordering it and it was stone cold. Never ever ever again.

Great food, way better than most of the other local curry houses and the same staff for years is always a good sign. Tip - the food is often even better outside of a Friday/Saturday evening as the chef has more time to do his thing..
