Good food nice place but service was slow

These guys are Complete fraudsters when we came for dinner we had couple of drinks and after the food these guys stole around 200 pounds from us as we are drunk charging extra for dishes which we havent ordered also.when the next day asked about it how can he do that then one of them accepted about the shameful act but hasn't provided any bill or refund furthur saying they have the rights to charge and claiming to be indian restuarant which is a bogus and beware guys if you have couple of extra drinks please note or record what you have ordered.feeling ashamed of these guys claiming to be asians 😓😓

Worst take away I have ever had. What has happened to this place ? Used to be amazing but now is awful Decided to get a takeaway and ordered online. Turned up and despite them saying it would be ready in 30 minutes they hadn’t even started cooking it when I arrived 40 mins later. Another 20 minutes later the food was ready. This despite the restaurant being empty which tells a story itself What was served was a disgrace. 5 lumps of chicken that were dry and in an unseasoned sauce lacking salt and any form of spice. It was a vindaloo but could have been a korma for the lack of heat. Samosa were cold and greasy. Mixed tikka ok Can’t believe how bad rhis place has become and will not return

Booked a table and were seated on arrival. Staff and service were excellent, and the food was very good.

I usually love this place because the food is reliably good, staff attentive and good beer without being pricy. But this time it felt as if they could not wait to get us out.

Visited the Royal India a few Times but last night was the best with my girlfriend we had to wait 30 minutes to be seated after booking very busy we had are drinks and starters then was waiting 2 hours for the main course it was worth it but the best was the manager and his merry men couldn’t cope Lucky we was seated a lot of customers booked tables and was waiting over a hour to be seated and customers was walking into the kitchen to see the manager to ask we booked and still waiting over all this time cracking entertainment just feel sorry for following customers all to do with delivery drivers coming in and takeaway orders holding the restaurant up 5 star entertainment and service thank you!

Booked a table for 7.30pm last night to be met with other people waiting to be seated, took a good 20 minutes to be seated and that felt as if other people on the table were being hurried to leave. The restaurant was to full capacity so very busy, customers were getting very frustrated at the very long delays and poor communication from front of house team. Our starter came quite quickly after ordering, but it soon went down hill again more people asking where were the tables after booking the day before, delivery drivers just standing around for ages waiting for their orders all a bit farcical, staff running around like headless chickens, one customer even walked into the kitchen to find out what was going on. Over booked over whelmed more like the royal rumble, it was after 9pm before we recieved our mains and there was no apologies or offer of a free drink to smooth over relations with their customers. Food was great when it did eventually arrive but very poor service from an established restaurant will not be returning in a hurry !!!

Miserable waiting staff (2 older gents). More interested in talking to each other than customers. Food no more than average. Real shame. Used to be real good, especially when the short guy, waiter was there. He was all about service.

What a disappointment! We booked for 10 people at 8.30 for an anniversary meal. When we arrived it was very busy. We waited initially for over 1/2 hour but were told we couldn’t have a drink whilst waiting. They said there were no tables free and shrugged there was nothing they could do about it. The manager refused to come out of the kitchen to discuss. They were flippant and unhelpful with total lack of customer service. They had obviously totally overbooked. People had been waiting for takeaway food for hours and one couple had been waiting 2 hours to be seated. We left after an hour of waiting. Will never go there again !

Great service , friendly staff , great interior.

Slow service and average food. Sat down at the table and waited 10 minutes to be given menus. We had to go up and ask for them. Food was okay but wasn’t wowed by it. We felt like we were an inconvenience. Limited parking on site.

Food was excellent, service suffered a little because it was very busy but was fine. Would recommend and would go as far as to say it's the best in the Vale area and reasonably priced too.

It was my first time visiting The Royal India, and i can honestly say that the food and service were fantastic

Awful Staff, honestly they're all running around like headless chickens. Every single one of them. No idea on how to run a restaurant. Grew a few white hairs waiting. Can't understand the way they talk. Waiters are dressed awfully. I stank of curry all day (poor ventilation) Never going again.

We had a great dinner with friends a few months ago. Food was good and the staff made me aware of what was gluten free. Unfortunately, I have tried to order a takeaway on 2 occasions since then. On both occasions I rang and enquired about what was gluten free and I was told that nothing was gluten free. I felt that the staff were lacking knowledge of allergies and therefore I did not order as I'm coeliac. This is even more concerning as they state online that they have GF options. The food is good but the staff need to be aware of allergies so that they can correctly inform their customers.

Superb staff and wonderful food

Best take away Indian food we've ever had. The Raj fish dish (big juicy prawns) was beautiful. The thali, both veggie and meat versions, were amazing and sooooo much for your money. One was easily enough for two to share with a few extra sides. Oh, and they gave us a free bottle of cobra each to go with! Enough food left over to make kedgeree for brekkie the next day too! Winner, winner curry for dinner and breakfast! 🤣

Food was really tasty. Couldn't fault it. The service however was appalling. Waited over an hour for our main course, waiter was dismissive, rude and arrogant. Such a shame but just shocking.

Visited here and ordered the non vegetarian thali, food was burnt and stuck underneath. There was a prawn, chicken and lamb curry each curry tasted the same. Presentation looked good but quality not so good.

Visited with a group of 10. Food was tasty and at a good price. Service was prompt but there was some incorrect orders taken hence the 3*.

Papadom- ok with terrible accompaniment. Mushroom rice was ok- on the oily side. Naan was ok- not too burnt and was small. The prawn curry- taj fish was good. The lamb curry was average- taste it chunks of meat in a non descriptive sauces Service was hit and miss. The staff do not get the tips on cards so tipped in cash instead.

Large party but no problem and my Bengal Fish Curry was excellent. There are few parking spaces so be prepared to find one nearby.

Have been ordering for over 12 years ( delivery ). The business must of changed ownership, the last 4 orders were incorrect when delivered, then last night ordered quite a large order, paid online, after an hour and a hlf my misses rang them. Athey didn't recieve the order apparently. I could hear the guy on the phone " i'm so sorry we will look after you " the food eventually arrived, ( With a free popadom !! ) The food was cold, and since when does a lamb tikka massala taste really sour ? it went in the bin. Sorry but we will be going elsewhere from now on.

Ordered some veggie side dishes amongst other things and opened the "vegetarian" aloo methu to find a piece of chicken in there!

Over 2 HOURS to be served a meal. We had a party of 9 booked for 6.45 on a Sat. Nice and early to beat the crowd, I thought. We were 15 late to be seated, drinks orders took another 20 minutes, didn't get our mains until AFTER 9PM! No apology, no acknowledgement, no discount or free round or drinks or free poppadoms... nothing. They were fairly busy, but it really doesn't matter; if you allow the bookings, you should be staffed accordingly. Will not be returning and will warn others of the same.

Waited over a hour and half for my meal table for 2 but they decided to do the table of 14 that ordered 20 minutes after us absolutely shocking service would not recommend

Fabulous food. Mainly have a takeaway as no delivery unless online. Great value. Friendly staff and love the fact you get a bottle of Indian beer for every tenner you spend. Nice touch 🍺

Last minute visit as we couldn't get a table elsewhere after bonfire night display. This was my third visit and I have to be honest I've never had a bad meal here... the price is a bit high but the food is amazing, portions aren't to big and not to small but the price is a bit much. But if I want Indian again this is definitely where I would go

It was our first visit to The Royal India. The service was excellent with the ataff being very friendly and the food was really nice and served within a reasonable time. It definitely visit again. My only concern with the place is the lack of parking but due to the location there isn't anything that can be improved here. Booking wasn't needed which is a bonus.

First time here and it won't be my last!

Each and everytime the staff are amazing and the adults and children and welcomed and the food has been spot on. We love coming here. My mums birthday let night and they made a great effort

Twice now we have had a terrible experience here. They used to be so good and food excellent but since they’ve done this online order thing, it’s gone to an absolute shambles over there. Waiting over an hour for food, then when we collected we were missing a dish, food cold. Had to drive back as they couldn’t do a refund. Honestly, they need to stop taking so many orders because they can’t cope!! Experience is awful, lots of people kicking off and leaving too. Listen to your customers! I will not be going back here or recommend to anyone.

Just had the obligatory post holiday curry absolutely top draw with some lovely complementary beers.. big order with six dishes sides etc all on point just what the doctor ordered served with a smile

Ok, was told when placing the order that it would be 40 minutes for collection. No problem, Saturday night so probably busy. Ordered the Bengali Fish Curry, supposed to be cooked using monkfish. An expensive fish so didn’t grumble at £11.50, this is where it fails for me. Arrived after 40 minutes to wait an extra 15 minutes for our order, no problem. Got home to tuck in, you cannot disguise monkfish and substitute it for something else. This was certainly not monkfish, pengasius at best which is way cheaper. Sorry Royal Indian, you have failed in your cheap skate attempt. 😡🤬😡🤬😡🤬

Sorry, but the service has gone down hill, we were a table of 8 on our own in the restaurant and the drinks and food order was messed up. Seemed very disorganized.

We were a party of 5, waited over an hour for them to take our order. Which was wrong with some of us. My main was suppose to be a marinated lamb, there was no way the tough tasteless dish served had been marinated. The manager was incredibly rude when we asked about our 2 hour wait for main course. The waiters where embossed by his rudeness. Don’t bother

The most beautiful food and the loveliest staff! We’ve been coming here for years and it never disappoints! Despite a very difficult situation this evening the staff were amazing as always! Well done royal india, you’re fab!

This has got to be the worst service I have ever had. I had to call for a take away to to table. And that was after 1 hour. There is certainly more interest in just eat than local support. I complained several times and asked for the manager. The rudest man I have ever met. Bating in mind I have been in customer service for over 40 years! In te end he told me he didn’t care about my complaint. We then left. This is not a reflection on the staff. They did their best. I do not blame the staff, there are serious management problems!

Food was absolutely delicious, plenty of it and arrived hot considering we were a party of 14. Unfortunately the staff not all but some let my first time experience down as they came across rude, they were busy and probably short staffed but that's not really a good excuse. Will definitely get takeaways from there though but perhaps not go back to dine in.

My favourite Indian restaurant and takeaway. Great selection of food, always fresh and tasty. The staff are all welcoming and friendly. The free bottle of beer with takeaway collection is a lovely extra touch 😊

Birthday Party of Twelve people Sat 12/03/2022 The manager / boss was so rude when I spoke to him I left my own birthday party the remaining group took a further two hours to be served , Truly shocking they offered a small discount for a ruined night with friends on a special occasion I mark this restaurant 10 out of 10 for being rude to it cliental

whilst waiting for our order we were sat with free chocolates and beverages, staff were very polite and humerus very fun to be around and the food was mind blowing worth every penny spent ! all over 10/10 visit thank you

excellent service, excellent meal. Staff are so helpful and friendly and the meal was the best we have had in a long time. We have since had a take away from them and the meal was just as good with a few free items added in. Highly recommend this place. One downfall is not enough parking.

Good banter and great food. I had the fish curry. A first for me, won't be the last, twas excellent, if you have never had Fish Curry, do it here. Very fresh.

Wouldn’t even give it 1 star. Worst Indian restaurant experience ever. Ordered chicken biryani ended up with mixed biryani with shell fish. Good job not allergic to shell fish

Have ordered takeaway from here a few times over the last few years as I live abroad couldn’t wait for my takeaway tonight, however, it was awful I am so disappointed the chickens shaslik was awful it was 2 chicken breasts marinated but tasteless no spices at all, my sons chicken tikka masala was runny and tasteless, the chips were stale and I doubt cooked today. All in all a disappointment and a waste of money. Will definitely not return there ever again.

Polite friendly when collecting our order 2 complementary beers.That's where it ends have eaten here twice before food was very good this time it was terrible the meat was supposed to be chicken we couldn't tell .It was cold and dry and tasteless the butter sauce was watery and tasted like a weak Korma the chips were hard dry and looked as if they were reheated from the day before totally tasteless.The rice was dry and tasteless. The best part of the meal were the pompadoms. We couldn't eat any of the food even our dog wouldn't touch the so called chicken we will never go here again.

I love indian food! Recent stay in Dinas Powys and Visited here for an early family meal. The food was excellent, very authentic, very generous portions, If we lived closer would visit regularly. Friendly welcome and great service. Would highly recommend.

I have known Mr Rahman for 20 years as far back as the India Gate at Whitchurch days.I have always experienced excellent cuisine and service from the Royal India and always recommend his restaurant to friends and colleagues.

place my order a 7pm on New Years eve on line , they said it will be ready for 7:30pm , i got there , the people at counter wasn't very helpful , there was about 35 people waiting inside , all trying to keep 2m social distance wearing face covering , wasn't easy to do , The staff wasn't wearing face mask , i had to wait a hour and half for my food , some poor chap had been waiting for nearly to 2 hours , only to find out they lost his order when i got home , some of my order was missing , and some was cold , when i phone them up , they did offer to do the rest of my order , but i didn't fancy waiting again , so i said i have a refund , he said he cant do it but the manager can do it later , we see its a pity , because the food is normally great and service it also good, just think they took to much on

Disappointed. Firstly, car park full so you have to park in a street and walk back to restaurant, not great when stormy weather! Overcrowded and waiting for tables for a long time even after we made reservation. Food was OK, large portions but meat tough. We gave it a 2nd chance after similar experience to see if it had improved and it hadn't. Wont be using again!
