Stayed over with a group of friends. Very friendly service, we had dinner in the pub. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The lamb curry which I ordered was excellent. Much better than usual pub curries, nans also delicious. Would return for the curry alone!

This is a great pub with a friendly atmosphere. It’s got a good selection of both food and drink and the teatime specials were a nice supplement to the menu. You will find plenty of choice whatever your taste and it’s served as traditional pub grub. Would recommend the racehorses and would return when next in kettlewell.

We love Kettlewell and have stayed several times in The Blue Bell Inn. On this visit we decided to call into the Racehorses Hotel just for a drink and to see what it was like. It was a cold Sunday evening and when we walked into the pub it was lovely and warm. There were several people having food and it was a really cosy and comfortable atmosphere. It didn’t take long to strike up a conversation with Kevin who has been the landlord for 18 years. When I asked if the pub had rooms he told me that there were 17 rooms and immediately offered to show us some of them. He showed us three of the rooms which were all beautiful and clean. We will definitely be returning to Kettlewell soon and staying here, let’s hope that the food is as good as it looks. Credit to Kevin for being so friendly, can’t wait to stay here.

We ate here twice during our stay in lovely Kettlewell. We loved the open fire and the staff were all pleasant and helpful. We loved the fresh pizzas on the Saturday night. They were tasty, authentic, with generous toppings. Slightly disappointed by Sunday lunch which in my view lacked fresh green vegetables.

Visited for some evening food and we were not disappointed. I had the fish and chips which was lovely and the mrs had the lamb stew which she was equally impressed with. 2 lovely roaring fires in the pub to enjoy and even though Kevin was on his own behind the bar on a busy evening he made every effort to be as attentive as possible. Kettlewell is a lovely place to go for a visit and this is one of the great places to eat in the village.

We've just returned from another fabulous 3 night stay at the Racehorses in Kettlewell. We stayed with friends and one dog Everything about our stay was fantastic. Our room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. All the staff were friendly and good fun. We ate here every night due to the wonderful range of food in offer. We enjoyed authentic curries on the curry night, perfectly cooked sea bass and the best steak any of us have ever had. Finished off by a flawless Irish coffee. All in all, a wonderful stay. Definitely not our last.

Food was very poor. They ruined what should have been a nice roast dinner. The pork was only just cooked with the fat not being crisped or crackled. The vegetable selection was one piece of brocoli, large pieces of leek and some cabbage- all of which were raw!! The mash and roast potatoes were average but cold. Oh and not to forget the stuffing ball that could have broken a few teeth! Overall, it was a very disappointing main course. The starters and pudding were very clearly shop bought but at least they were edible. Not good, do not recommend.

Stayed here for one night stop-over while hiking. Good value for money. Room was basic but nice, really enjoyed having a bath after a long day walking. Pub itself is a bit lacklustre, but staff are very pleasant. 30 minute (08:30-09:00) for breakfast is a bit of a stretch. Chose the mor lively pub across the road for dinner so can't comment on food. Overall stay was fine. No complaints. Has everything you need.

Walked in without a booking on a Saturday evening and managed to get a table where other places were fully booked. Food lovely, good portion size and came quickly. Atmosphere lacking slightly and needs better lighting. Bit pricey, £70 for 2 adult mains, 2 kids meals, 2 wines and 2 soft drinks. Not the friendliest service but not awful, everyone has bad days so giving the benefit of the doubt. Could be brilliant with a few tweaks. I would visit again.

We have just visited here on the first night of our holiday and will NOT be going back! One of the bar staff was rude and incompetent and after making 2 mistakes (a wrong drink and not putting one of our meals through meaning we ate 20 mins after the other half of the family had finished) wasn’t really bothered and told me ‘I must of misheard or it must of been one of those days.’ Customer service is extremely important to me and this establishment certainly lacked that!! We have just spent a lot of money for very poor service!! Go across the road to the bluebell inn, it’s so much nicer and the staff are super friendly!

We were tempted by the promise of a curry cooked by an Indian chef. We weren't disappointed, only two curries available, Butter Chicken and a vegetarian option. Butter Chicken isn't normally a dish I would order so nice to have something different. We were both really impressed, plenty of spice and flavour in the sauce, and a good portion. Definitely not your average "pub curry". Good service and fine Tim Taylor's beer too.

Room was seriously swanky and v comfortable. Food excellent. Best in 5 days of eating at some ‘interesting’ Yorkshire hostelries on the Inn Way. A superb haggis/ black pudding/ peppercorn sauce followed by a steak in ale suet pudding to die for. What a relief after some pretty dodgy fare. We have visited this pub many times before and always found the food good. So decided to stop off for a light lunch. 2 of our party of four ordered soup and a sandwich, one white and one brown. The soup was delicious. But what a disappointment the sandwich was? The reason being in both cases, the bread was not fresh and was bordering on stale. This is such a simple task to make sure there is fresh bread and it was such a let down. It was like the sandwiches had been pre made then possibly left in the fridge without cling film on or any covering. The COVID measures where in place and we were almost ‘told off’ for not signing and leaving track and trace details immediately as we walked through the door, before we had even had a chance to speak. So why was there such a basic hygiene error in the kitchen of leaving bread out? Wonder what else goes on in there? We did leave our details, of course. But I think the lady behind the bar needs to calm down a bit and at least say good afternoon first before jumping on customers for details, like naughty school kids.

2020 has been difficult to catch up with friends, especially when living in different towns. So when we got the opportunity my friends and I decided to meet up and go some place new, so we tried a beautiful pub in a stunning part of the Yorkshire Dales. The atmosphere was so good, warm and welcoming. The table service was great and we weren’t rushed, which was important as the sole purpose of the visit was to catch up with friends. We had a meal as well as drinks and the food was incredible. I had the burger on a pretzel bun, not only was the bun delicious but the caramelised onions and relish was out of this world. The pub was split into different areas with plenty of seating to make sure you are comfortable but it was spread out enough so you felt as if you were in an intimate space rather than a crowd. The staff were really friendly and made a point of checking on us regularly to make sure we were still comfortable and had enough to drink. I really enjoyed myself and so did my friends, I would thoroughly recommend a visit.

We have eaten at this establishment many times and the food has always been very good. We went on a monday night taking advantage of the eat out to help out scheme. The wife had fish and chips with mushy peas. The fish and chips were very nice but the mushy peas were stone cold. I ordered the chicken breast stuffed with parma ham and parmesan. The chicken was overcooked, tough and extremely dry. Due to the high demand with the government scheme I suspect it was cooked well in advance and reheated. I complained and in fairness the waitress offered to exchange the meal but the damage was already done. Other people in the restaraunt who also ordered the chicken also complained. The front of house staff and the waitresses were excellent, friendly, welcoming, polite and efficient.

I had the hotpot having read previous reviews and thoroughly enjoyed it ( although would be better if 3 bay leaves hadn’t been left in the red cabbage!)the scampi and chips was fresh and generous and the onions rings were proper ones- and huge! Good menu with plenty of choice. They also do pizzas although never really seen that as pub food. There was just something lacking with the atmosphere. They had the news on the TV- why have it on? The staff didn’t really interact with customers. It’s quite a big pub but there was no real noise, it felt hushed. Worth visiting to eat though.

Ate here with a large group (about 14) of friends. The hotel restaurant area is small so if you are a large party you need to book so that they can organise the seating for you. The food is solid higher end pub food with varied menu choices to cater for most tastes. The beer was also decent and there were a good variety of non-alcoholic drinks including flavoured mixers which tasted great even without gin in them! Our dog was also very happily ensconced in front of the fire with a water bowl. All in all would recommend a visit.

I specifically asked if the chips were "real" chips and not frozen, and I was told they definitely were by lady who seemed offended that I had asked, to discover later (confirmed by another member of staff) that they were frozen ones. Fine if your ok with this , but I would have happily chosen another option and not happy that i was lied to, and the second member of staff was pretty dismissive too.

After wandering round the village decided to have a pub lunch, it was the only pub that had a table free, should have told us something. Ordered drinks and food at the bar, with a lady, short dark hair and glasses presume landlady, I think you need some customer service skills. You don’t know how to treat the paying public, you were off with me which I let drop but when I saw you twice be rude again I nearly blew my top, my husband had to hold me back, you came from behind the bar firstly to stare at a child who was crying and then secondly which annoyed me you asked two elderly ladies to go to the bar and collect there tea in an abrupt manner, why couldn’t you serve it to them. We had two bacon and sausage roll and portion of chips, well there was one sausage and half a piece of bacon, the chips were in a bucket and were gorgeous but as we got near the bottom the bucket was padded out with a serviette.

As the Bluebell was full, we came here, and now fully understand why this place was empty and the Bluebell was totally reserved.

Had been for a long cycle ride and stopped here for lunch and a pint. The pub wasn't too busy and chose the special soup and sandwich. The the soup was freshly made tomato and delicious. I know I was hungry but the flavour was delicate and with a hint of spice, washed down with a pint was perfect.

Staying in kettlewell and after having a few drinks locally we noticed the Racehorses pub offered a takeaway pizza service. We ordered a couple of 10inch, a margherita & a spicy. Total £19! Bit pricey. They took 30mins. The margherita wasn't too bad but the spicy one was so greasy and floppy!! Not very tasty either. Don't bother getting these, waste of money.

This is potentially a wonderful hotel with its stunning riverside location and lovely bar staff. However when we visited the garden was full of rotten furniture, one chair broke when we sat on it and the others were in terrible condition, there were overflowing bins and old litter all round them on the ground. The food was at best mediocre and the first beer I ordered had to be taken back as it was clearly not at its best. What a shame this place could be so lovely.

Booking process for tables flawed; staff and customers arguing over reservation times - didn’t seem to be able to cope with demand on a Friday night. Eventually food arrived, disappointed to receive what looked like a frozen burger that had been deep fried and oily tasting chips.

Given the price was stunned by the size of the burger. The photo doesnt do the comment justice but some indication of the miniscule size can be guaged by the fork. Just over 1.5 inch in diameter. When asked by the waitress if everything was ok we pointed this out. She said she'd have a word with the chef. When she returned we asked for an update. She said the chef said "Sorry". So that's OK then. Value for money? I dont think so.

We decided to visit the Racehorses Hotel for a spot of light lunch on the way to our short break in the Yorkshire Dales.

We stayed one night at the Racehorses pub and it was a nice room but could do with a bit of updating. We ate in the pub and the food was good and the staff helpful and friendly. Just felt the £100 for the room was quite expensive.

We called in on an off chance Sunday evening, hoping to have dinner at the Racehorses. We were assured there was a table free for us. We ordered drinks at the bar and as we already knew what we wanted to eat, we gave our order then too. Our table was quickly laid by a friendly waitress. My husband had chosen one of the Sunday roasts (Lamb) which came with Yorkshire pudding and vegetables. I had tagliatelle with a mushroom and cream sauce - it was delicious. The bar has 3 Timothy Taylor ales on hand pump. The pub has a pleasant atmosphere; dogs are welcome.

We stayed here one night on our walk on the Dales Way. Apparently we came at a bad moment on a Sunday afternoon -- they were more interested in serving beer to customers who came in after us than checking us in. The room was fine. Dinner was fine. There were several vegetarian items on the menu that were not available that night, so there was not much selection if one didn't eat meat. But the veggie burger was fine. They were much friendlier as we left the following morning.

We wanted to find somewhere to eat and popped in here and didn’t receive a very warm welcome from the woman behind the bar. We all thought she was rude. We had a drink, my husband was not impressed with the beer. We decided to go over the road instead to the Bluebell inn. They were much more accommodating and welcoming and the food was great.

We stayed at The Racehorses Hotel for one night and were pleasantly surprised by the room. Very nice and modern, comfortable beds and a nice bathroom. Evening meal of lamb hotpot was good and breakfast was simple, but had what we needed. We were welcomed by the staff and were happy with our stay.

Any pub serving a choice of Timothy Taylor's real ale has to be worth a visit. 3 different ones on offer. A great little pub in a lovely scenic location.

Nice steak pie with excellent chips. The beer was well kept and a reasonable range. Serving staff very friendly and extremely prompt. Treacle pudding and profiteroles were pretty good also.

Visiting Skipton for the day, I couldn’t pass this café without going in! I treated myself to a hot chocolate and four from the loose chocolate counter: expensive, but delectable.
