I’ve visited this cafe a few times and every single time we have gone they have managed to get something wrong on a small order, I’d understand if it was busy but the times we’ve gone it never was, plus the food is expensive for what it is so you’d expect the service to be great - it’s such a shame as it’s situated in such a lovely area. The customer service isn’t a great experience either, they forgot to give the marmalade with the toast and gave it 15 minutes after, so the toast was stone cold. I had to ask to get it replaced and they said they’d “see if they could do that”, plus we ended up receiving our drinks after we’d all finished our food, despite ordering it all at the same time. Some of the staff were lovely, but others weren’t. Just unfortunate as I love the outside area and where it’s situated and I’ve tried to give the place the benefit of the doubt by visiting multiple times as I thought it may have just been an off day. Will not be going back.

Oh dear what a negative experience we had in this place- again. We visited this cafe some years ago & had lunch . Turned out to be pretty dire & I wrote a review that reflected this & received a quite frankly offensive reply! We love Skipton & as we were in the town again recently we thought we'd take another look at the Terrace cafe( we fancied a scone & couldn't find anywhere else serving them). We assumed after a number of years the place would either have new owners or improved or both. Ordered 2 Americanos & 2 scones. The coffee was fairly vile & we couldn't finish it. That was nothing compared to the scones. They may have been delicious when fresh but goodness knows how old they were. When will cafes realise that ( obviously) scones need to be made daily, they are simply not edible the next day or thereafter. What made it worse is that they were very expensive- £3.40 for an inedible scone. We would have been more than happy to pay that for a fresh one. Certainly will not be visiting this place in future.

Visited 20 Sept and again 25 Sept. On both occasions we had a meal and drinks. Either omelette or wraps with chips and salad. Both were served in a timely manner, served hot, well cooked and presented and tasted delicious. The waitresses were helpfull and pleasant. We sat on the balcony on 20th which was very pleasant just watching the world go by and on 25th we sat inside. Both experiences were enjoyable. Would recomend and return.

My wife and I was visiting Skipton, I was on Business talks for an hour or so, my wife decided to have a small breakfast, she paid immediately on ordering and also gave a small tip at the counter. The breakfast she told me was very nice and she had no complaints till upon leaving through the main entrance a middle aged lady confronted my wife asking "Excuse me, have you paid" now my wife is 69 and got very embarrassed by this, and said "Yes of course, I paid when ordered even leaving you a small tip before eating," now it is not made simple by the fact you can pay before eating or after so the staff will not know who has paid or not "but" asking a pensioner in front of customers "have you paid" is embarrassing so she will not return, thank you

Lovely big tea rooms with many tables. Enjoyed sitting on the 'balconey' however the jacket with prawns wasn't very nice, as it was a microwave one and only partially cooked and instead of nice sweet small prawns they were huge and not very nice, and no butter on the jacket- I'm afraid, however the side salad was nice and fresh! Staff lovely and good swift service. Would go again but wouldn't have a jacket potato!!!

Always our first port of call when we are in Skipton on our way to the West coast. Reading some recent reviews I was worried about the service and food But I'm pleased to say the service and food was as good as it always is. On our first visit I couldn't pass the big breakfast and to say it's a good plateful is no exaggeration, My wife chose a cheese jacket potato and was not disappointed. Our second visit later in the week for the market gave me chance to try the giant Yorkshire with sausage and mash. A real belly filler . The staff as always were friendly and service was quick. Rest assured we will be back .

Called in for a quick sandwich on a brief stop off in Skipton. I ordered a toasted tuna and cheese sandwich - which at £9.75 I thought was on the pricey side. But still, I didn’t have much time so ordered it and waited. And waited. And waited. After 40 minutes I went in to ask where it was. The girl behind the counter went to check in the kitchen and I was told they were just doing it now. After another 10 minutes it turned up, warm around the edges and stone cold in the middle, so much so that the cheese hadn’t even melted. Clearly they’d forgotten about it and tried to rush it. Sorry but for the thick end of £10 for two bits of bread, some tuna and some cheese I’d have at least expected it to have been cooked. I went back to the counter and got a refund. For those prices, just not good enough!

Mum and I stopped here for lunch on Friday 7th June 2024. I had steak pie with chips, beans and gravy and mum had what was described as hot beef baguette with caramelised onion chutney and chips .with drinks this cost £26.50. No one asked if our food was ok but I made a point of going to the serving area and quietly informing the 2 staff that were there that mum had left all her meal as the beef was inedible, dry and tasted funny. I explained that I had tried a piece and agreed . I had to spit mine out into a napkin. Even the tasteless gravy couldn’t make it edible . Surprisingly the best they could do was both say , “oh sorry about that “ then ignore me. I was expecting them to at least offer to get mum a different meal, say that they would check it out, let the manager or chef know or even offer a complimentary dessert or some other kind of action as a good will gesture. Nothing . So I’ve resorted to leaving a poor review and warning friend and family to find somewhere else to eat . This used to be a great place to eat but sadly their standards of food and service have dropped .

As we walked in and sat down we was asked if we wanted food we’d have to order quickly as they was scheduling maintenance in the kitchen and workers was waiting. So we quickly glanced and ordered. We had a h and cheese toastie with salad and the chicken and bacon wrap with chips with A cloudy lemonade and latte. Total order came to £25.05 not sure how but we didn’t exactly have a great deal of time to look at prices. There was nothing necessarily wrong with the food but at the same time nothing special. Average cafe food, I imagine people come for the cake not necessarily the hot food. Standard cup of coffee and small glass of lemonade. Nice area to eat and clean. No issues with the staff as they were all polite. Just for us a little on the pricey side for the food we received.

Had better. The scone was very dry. BLT was ok, but used cheap sliced bread, the mega breakfast had overcooked sausages and tinned tomatoes, which we weren't informed about, and the juices made the hash browns soggy. Worst experience I have ever endured in a café. After recieving our food, my partner asked a member of staff for a plate for the dog to eat off of. The staff member agreed and gave her a plate. During our meal, another member of staff, stopped us eating and rather embarrassed us in front of the shop floor. She stated that the dog eating off the plate was not ok. She kept repeating "that's not ok." In a raised tone. She talked down to us in an awful tone, totally disrespecting us infront of all the other customers. Totally spoilt our meal, my daughter couldn't finish her meal because of how mortified she was, because of how the way we were disrespected. My partner said that another member of staff gave us the plate that we said specifically said was for the dog. She didn't seem interested in explaining to other staff that it wasn't allowed, she was more interested in belittling us in front of others. As we were leaving we were accompanied by amounts of stares that made us feel like we had done something wrong when it was a clear miscommunication that could been handled so much easier. I have travelled across the UK and frequented many bars and cafés and never have I ever experienced impertinence like this before. It put us in quite the unhappy mood for the rest of our day out in Skipton. It says dogs are welcome but it feels like people are not. Definitely will not be visiting again. Unfortunately, I can not give this place no stars, but if I could I definitely would.

We called here for elevenses one morning after going round Skipton Castle. Our visit was only a very brief one and we would like to have stayed longer, as the cafe looked attractive and the staff were friendly. As the name implies, the cafe occupies the upstairs terrace of Skipton's beautifully restored Victorian market hall, now renamed and rebranded as Craven Court. The setting really is magnificent. There's both indoor and outdoor (i.e. terrace) seating, and there's plenty of room for everyone.

Five minutes later she saunters across and asks if she can clean our table - fine, apart from the fact she sprayed myself and my partner with the anti bad spray and flicked crumbs all over me, lovely!! We ordered two bacon sandwiches and 2 coffees, for £17 I was highly disappointed, no butter on the bread, or if there was butter it was minimal! The bacon was awful and so fatty! The bread was brown and you were given no choice in that area... Left really upset we didn’t just nip in to greggs! Thought we would try something different, never again, I’d say avoid if you’re after a nice bacon sandwich that doesn’t break the bank!

After our lunch we had a hefty bill as the manager stated he does not want to be a part of the scheme anymore. It was the last day which we wanted to take advantage of. The food was over priced for what you got and there are much more reasonable and pleasant places to eat in Skipton. We ordered 3 teas but got just a small jug of milk there was hardly enough. Staff were cleaning tables and removing dirty crockery quickly. The place was set out well for social distancing.I had two quibbles really. One was a pile of old chairs stacked up next to seating area with a sign saying that they were for sale. It looked very untidy and was off putting when it was next to your table. The other gripe was the prices seemed a little higher than other places in town for the same (or similar) items. However we actively chose to eat there so paying those prices was down to eat.

When our toasted tea cake and crumpets arrived the butter was solid like it had just come out of the freezer. We put it next to our warm drinks but this did not soften it so I went inside to ask for some butter which hadn’t been in the fridge by which time the food had gone cold. I said whilst asking for more butter that my crumpets were now cold and the two members of staff there gave me some more butter but there was no offer to either warm the food or make some more. My husband ate his cold tea cake but didn’t enjoy it and I only ate one crumpet. Why put butter out which is not spreadable. The table we sat at still had used plates on it and when they were taken away, the table was not wiped. Won’t go back again.

We called into Skipton over the New Year and seeing The Pie and Mash shop was closed ?? we had noticed The Terrace Tea Room in a lovely arcade whilst walking around the town, so as it was almost lunchtime, we went in.We were not dissappointed, the staff were very friendly, and the food was very good and at a very reasonable price.

Great place. Fantastic selection of beers and lovely food. They have excellent local knowledge and advised us to take a walk to the local creamery for a fantastic wine and cheese tasting. We will definitely be back.

We had a lovely couple of nights in this charming pub/hotel. Our room was comfy, spotlessly clean and warm. The food in the restaurant was excellent both breakfasts and dinners. The staff friendly and the place had a lovely cosy friendly feel. Would definitely return and recommend.

Always pop in here when in Skipton. Clean, decent foods, pleasant staff. Yesterday however female server couldnt give a hoot. Long unkept hair, hand either on hip, in pocket or arms crossed. Looked at everyone like we were all dirt. Spoke appallingly. I waited in line, then she said 'back in a minute' and vanished. 5 mins later came nack and simply said 'yeah?'. Good grief, shockingly bad. Is this the era of a Mike Ashley owned business?
