We went in a family group of 8 to celebrate an 18th birthday, the service while we were there was great, attentive and discrete. The food was okay, some dishes better than others with the mushroom ravioli being very salty and the filling dry and tough. It was a missed opportunity for some nice touches given we were sharing a special event with Quod - a recent visit to Six By Nico for a birthday received free prosecco and a little card saying "Happy Birthday, thank you for sharing it with us" which is a lovely touch. The main disappointment came due to us leaving behind a specially printed place mat and drink coaster for the birthday boy, with his picture and "Happy 18th Birthday" printed on it with his name - so clearly a possession made especially for the event. When we called and visited the next day to retrieve it, we were told "You left it, so we binned it..." thankfully it wasn't a wallet then??!! A shame the attentive service was so short lived, especially as they had our phone number, or at least could have given us 24 hours to claim it.

There were 9 of us. Staff attentive. We ate on a Sunday so all the adults had the Sunday lunch. Enormous Yorkshire puddings! The food was tasty although a couple of us found their food a bit cold, staff replaced with a whole new plate of food. Bit disappointed with the coffee, it was bitter, and one was cold, but was replaced. We were given a discount on the bill, so kudos given. We were a large party so I know it's difficult to get everything served quickly. The staff were lovely. Oh, and one of the youngsters had a cold pizza, that was replaced also. Would definitely recommend. Two of us travelled up from the Kent coast and the others from Cheshire, for a family reunion. We had a ball, weren't rushed and generally looked after very well.

Good food, however the staff seemed unfriendly. When we were seated, the server didn't offer us water like other customers. We had to order water, and of course they brought us bottled water, instead of tap water, which they offer other customers and for which we would have preferred.

Saturday 21st September We had an amazing time here! The food was delicious and the service was fantastic! I ordered a chicken salad and did not like the dressing that it normally comes with, so I asked for a balsamic vinegar dressing. However our server recommended another one and omg it was absolutely fantastic! The service was a personal/ tailored service for each table. He genuinely cares about the needs of the customer. Fabulous. Unfortunately I did not get there name, but have the receipt - hope the name on the receipt is correct. Server: 789 Stojancho Table: 33/1 Terrace Thank you for a lovely experience!!

Absolutely fantastic from booking to departure! We booked Quod to celebrate our daughters 21st birthday with grandparents on 28th Feb 2024. We were 9 people and enjoyed the set menu a few bottles of wine, coffee and our own birthday cake they kept hidden until we were ready and then they lit the candles and presented it to her. From the moment we arrived and appointed our own waitress we were taken care of so well. Nothing was too much trouble and all our requests had the answer “yes” . We had such fun and felt so welcomed and well catered for. We feel so lucky to have chosen Quod for such a special celebration so Thankyou to the whole team for making it so perfect !

I had phoned up a month before to book a traditional high tea as we were celebrating our granddaughters 21st as she is studying at oxford university we thought it would be a nice place to visit, I explained ideally what we would like and my granddaughter was vegan and I wanted it to be special as it was a very important day. On arrival we were ushered quickly to a table the restaurant was busy with people having main meals I couldn’t see anyone having afternoon tea. The waitress came and offered us a jug of iced water, left us with a menu for the cream teas ,and then disappeared, when she came back she didn’t make any reference to what we had booked or to any reference to our celebration it would have been nice to have had a pleasant comment regarding the occasion we were celebrating, she just took the menu and asked whether we wanted tea and coffee no mention of what the traditional high tea consisted of for that day and the fact one of our requests was a vegan one even though this had all been stipulated when booked. When the traditional high tea arrived it was rather underwhelming to say the least there was 4 very small dainty finger sandwiches 1 plain 1fruit scone 1 pudding and 4 tiny cakes, two of the sandwiches had sliced cucumber on and the other had ham on. It would have been nice to have had a few more dainty sandwiches, we had said when we booked we would have liked cheese, and egg and cress as well as ham which are basic ingredients after all we didn’t expect a couple of sliced cucumber. The scones were the best part with the cream and jam, but the rest was very disappointing, also we were not made aware that there were refills of tea and coffee until I requested another pot of tea. No information was given about anything that was on the menu. We have had many cream teas but I can honestly say we have never experienced anything quite as poorly executed as this was, needs to do better!

While the service and ambiance at Quod were lovely, our overall experience did not quite live up to the restaurant's reputation or price point. Highlights: Service: Friendly and attentive staff made us feel welcome and comfortable. Ambiance: The atmosphere was pleasant and lively, perfect for a casual dinner with friends and family. Lowlights: Food: While my husband enjoyed his dish, mine and my daughter's were underwhelming. Monkfish Special: Disappointed by the abundance of chickpeas and lack of monkfish in the special. Ravioli: Lacked flavor and had a watery sauce. Sides: Arrived late and the broccoli was overcooked. Desserts: Average, with the pear pavlova falling short of expectations. Overall: Despite the positive aspects of service and ambiance, the inconsistent food quality and high prices make us hesitant to return in the future.

We visit probably four times a year to meet up with old friends. Every time we visit the ambiance and overall experience is great but I do wish you’d change your menu. We’ll be forced to eat elsewhere soon as we’ve just about eaten the whole menu now - sea bass, risotto, tagliatelle, cassoulet, pizzas, spatchcock chicken to name but a few! We have eaten at the quod before and decided to return to celebrate my birthday. I found the food really nice. However, I was unable to eat over half my main course due to feeling anxious because of our server. They were very blunt with us, and not friendly at all. At some points when taking our order, they actually laughed at my partner due to something he ordered. My drink was cleared with no offer of a new one - which i did want however it was impossible to grab our servers attention after they swiped the finished glass. They seemed generally disinterested in us, perhaps as we are a younger couple? When adding a 12.5% service charge, the service should be 100% (i say this as a server myself). When clearing my half eaten plate that i couldn’t eat due to loosing my appetite because of the server, there was no question of whether the food was okay - (which it was, but really this should be checked if half the plate is left). I didn’t want to make a fuss and we paid the service charge ontop of the £120 bill despite the bad service. Then, to top things off, as we were leaving my partner accidentally got in the way of our server. They then gestured at him, saying “excuse you”. This is what i feel is completely unacceptable.. as a server myself i would never speak to a customer this way. At that point i really wished we hadn’t paid the 12.5% service charge. So, the food was lovely as always, however the poor service is enough to make us not return.. a regular customer lost.

Myself and my husband went for lunch during a day out before Christmas. We hadn’t pre booked but we were able to book a slot online for 1145. To give us more time to get there, we decided to phone ahead and see if we could be accommodated at 1200. We were disappointed to be told that this wouldn’t be possible and were also told by the female on the phone that she couldn’t honour our 1145 online booking either. The booking was still available online, so we chanced our luck and went anyway. To our surprise, there were only approximately 6 tables when we arrived and were greeted with the option of picking any table we liked. We had a fabulous experience and loved the setting and the food. The service was also amazing! The restaurant did get busier but there were still empty tables when we left, so it felt very much like the female we spoke to on the phone was trying to avoid taking more bookings.

Food was very tasty and portions generous. Waitress was very friendly and the service was excellent. Having an allegen list would help significantly for those with food allergies such as myself and give diners more comfort on what dishes and what dishes don't have certain allergens. Restaurents can't just rely on staff knowledge as they do make mistakes like we all do. Also the allegen dish flag system on dishes that many restaurents use would be helpful. Certainly more expensive than last time we ate here a year ago. All said it still has a magic feel to it at Christmas time.

We had been looking forward to a meal at Quod for a long time. Despite booking weeks in advance, our only option was a table in the courtyard. Passing through the restaurant, the whole place felt like we had caught the tail end of battle late in the afternoon. The waitress was quite rough and we certainly could have done with the tall heaters shown on the website. However, blankets were brought and food arrived promptly, still warm. It was tasty, although some starters such as the asparagus were a bit light and the artichoke salad didn’t have enough of its key ingredient. Main courses were all good and warm - we had a range from ravioli to lamb chops. Ditto with deserts.I think the staff were exhausted from working too hard - clearly too many covers in one day. It’s been tough for the hospitality sector this winter and I can understand they want to operate at full capacity. Sadly we didn’t feel special in our scaffold-clad courtyard.Resist the temptation to have cocktails - ours arrived with the starters which rather spoilt the spirit.

OK I start with what went wrong: the table. Eating outdoors in England you risk that it may be a bit cold... so I called a few days in advance to ask for a table in the more protected section of the - beautifully set - terrace. I was reassured of my wish and even apologised for being a pain, but guess what? We had one of the few tables located in more exposed area, with no heaters. Our waitress did all she could to make us feel comfortable so thank you again, although a change of table was not possible on a busy Friday evening.Oh well! Maybe we expect too much not having been out very much for the last year or so.The starter I chose was very tasty but a bit "heavy"...I didn't expect so much creamy filling when I ordered the scallops gratin. That's just me having an idea of what to expect though so I am not criticising how it was done, it was very enjoyable. The main was perfection! Cod fillet which couldn not have been tastier, softer, larger or better presented, with surprisingly good roasted fennel and a delicious delicate sauce. The best meal I had in a long time - OK I haven't been out much lately but hey this was an amazing dish. Worth going back for.And the atmosphere here at Quod is always a key part of the dining.I was too full for desserts - I wouldn't have known what to choose from the tempting selection on the menu! - but I stole a huge spoonful of my husband's ice cream and it was scrumptious. Proper gelato - trust me on this one, I am Italian. Thanks to the staff, looking forward to coming back again.

Ok this is my theory: when you have a quite big restaurant that serves many tables it can become formulaic and uncreative; but when the pandemic has forced you to only open your terrace to a few tables, it’s more like cooking for family - you want them to love the food, you’re trying to impress them and you want them to come back. I’ve always loved the Quod as a great place for drinks, not necessarily for dinner, but I have just been surprised by a really delicious meal. Really. Delicious. I mean memorable. I’m sorry I didn’t take photos before I wolfed it down - but for the record the starter was the pea, lovage and straticcielli risotto and the main was the roast fillet of red gurnard with jersey royal potatoes and samphire. I’d never had this rather scary fish before but it was perfectly cooked and delicious. Words cannot describe the fresh loveliness of the risotto. The terrace looks fabulous on a late spring evening. Get in there while it’s still great!

I went to Quod today for lunch with my 2 children as it was my son's 23rd birthday. We chose this particular restaurant as we really liked the look of the outdoor seating area and with Covid restrictions meaning we have to sit outside at the moment, this was an important factor in our choice. They have done a great job with plenty of (inobtrusive) heaters and quite a bit of cover so even though it was pouring with rain, we felt warm and cosy at our table. Our waiter was great, really helpful and attentive and the food was excellent. We were all really impressed and would definitely go back again. The set lunch was really great value too. We had a great evening here. Xmas decorations are pretty, COVID measures are great, but above all the service and food were first class. The cod with fennel was perfectly cooked and the sweets exceptional. Our Latvian waiter (sorry didn’t get his name) was top quality - knowledgeable, attentive and professional and such a lovely guy. Thanks, Quod for a perfect evening

Me and a friend visited for afternoon tea during a shopping weekend. We dined on Friday at 3pm which is when afternoon tea starts. The restaurant felt very Covid safe with seperating screens and distanced tables and all staff wore see through masks which made it easy to hear and understand them. All staff we saw were efficient and polite. We went for the Graduation tea which came with a glass of champagne and we started with a cocktail. Everything was amazing - the drinks good and food very tasty, especially the warm scones. Fantastic value for money and we had some leftover food boxed up to take out. We weren’t rushed and had a relaxing time.Would definitely visit again.

We visited on a Saturday night and even though it was fairly busy inside Andrea our waitress was extremely attentive and let us relax and enjoy our meal (we weren't constrained to a time for our table). I had Octopus to start which tasted delicious and you could tell all the food was of high quality. Andrea really made our night special and was very accommodating to our request to move outside for the final hour after our meal.

Whilst walking around Oxford my girlfriend and I were looking for a place to grab some lunch, and stumbled across the old bank hotel, after a look at the menu we were convinced. The food was fantastic, and my girlfriend very much enjoyed the basil daiquiri, which was delicious. The highlight however was the service, unfortunately I cannot remember our waitresses name, however she was Eastern European, with dark hair, nothing was too much trouble, she recommended dishes and cocktails to try, and have some great tips about where to visit in Oxford and the surroundings. As and when we’re back in Oxford we will definitely return, and hope to stay at the hotel also.

We stopped off in Oxford as it was mid-way for us. We were looking for a nice place to enjoy an evening meal. It was a Saturday evening as well and Covid was lurking. We arrived at the Quod Restaurant. It was extremely busy but a table was found for us almost straight away. The rest of the evening was just a brilliant experience. All of the staff were very busy but also very attentive. The food was hot, tasty and served on time in spite of how busy it was. We were very lucky to be able to get a walk-in table on such a busy evening but it was certainly worth while. I would certainly recommend it, no question. Thank you for such a lovely evening.

We wanted to pop in somewhere for pre-dinner drinks (we had booked in for a meal elsewhere on this occasion). We had looked at Quad prior to coming to Oxford so we asked at the door and we were told there was a garden area behind where we would be welcome to have drinks without eating. There were 3 or 4 tables of people outdoors similar to ourselves. Service was very good and the restaurant looked lovely as we left ! It was a little cool for drinks outdoors, we just had the one and moved on, but it just happened to be a cool breeze that evening - they had placed rugs outdoors if people wished to use them ! May return to dine in the future, and the drinks we had were very nice.

We visited Quod whilst in Oxford for a 4 day break. It was our last night so we wanted something a little special and Quod didn't disappoint. A Lovely big airy restaurant, great decor with a buzzy atmosphere, without being too intrusive, social distancing is being observed really well here too and everything was sparkling clean, with attendants in the toilets keeping an eye on things. We had the best waitress in Andrëa, she was attentive without being overbearing but also a lot of fun, you could see how well she got on with her customers by the way they interacted with her, even asking her to be part of a group photo at one point. Our food was really good, I had the Goats cheese starter which was so good but quite large, my husband had the Beef Carpaccio which he said was also very good. I had the Duck Leg for main, one of my favourite dishes and the chef very kindly swapped out the Celeriac for creamed potatoes, it also came with braised Red Cabbage, absolutely sublime but so big, i couldn't finish it unfortunately, nor could i manage a pudding, but I was very happy with what i'd eaten. The cocktails are really good, with a nice selection and some signature ones which makes a nice change. We were in the restaurant for 3 hours and didn't feel rushed at all, Andrëa actually informed us we had the table for the night and just to enjoy and take our time, such a rarity and not just in these times. I would highly recommend Quod if vising Oxford, we had a fabulous evening there and would definitely book again when we return.

Visited with my son who ordered the burger. It came with a dry bun and an equally dry burger patty. No relish and just a piece of lettuce and slice of tomato. All totally inedible and not the qualities would expect in a Waitrose. The chips were obviously of the oven variety and undercooked. Overall a terrible experience and not one I would wish to repeat. Will not be coming back.
