I young girl with brown hair, took our drinks orders and then gave us a menu for our lunch order, I went back in as sitting outside and the bar girl said there’s a massive wait on at the moment for one pizza that we wanted to share, I asked why? As the place was empty and she said it’s just the way it is, I’m a head chef so I thought maybe she was , she refused to find out why a simple pizza would take 40 mins ?

Friday lunchtime, we ordered drinks, which arrived quickly, then ordered food. After about 15 minutes the waitress came over and said that they had no chilies for my wife's chili-con-carne, so she ordered fried prawns, sane as me. After another twenty minutes, still no food, so I paid for the drinks and we walked out. How long does it take to fry some prawns? We felt that because we are elderly, they didn't want our custom, not trendy enough.

Lovely staff, and drinks were served beautifully in lovely glasses. Unfortunately the food was terrible, my salad was so drenched in dressing it was soggy, and many of the promised ingredients missing. The bagel was supposed to be pastrami and it was parma ham: most people wouldn't mind the swap, but some would. We were not warned or asked if it was ok. The chips included horrible black scraps from the bottom of the fryer and were over salted. Overall this isn't cheap food, £15 for burger and chips , but we honestly would have had a better meal in wetherspoons for half the price. Probably a lovely place to go for a drink, but definitely not food.

Nice place for an evening drink. Unfortunately, we felt very anxious about the lack of social distancing from some of the customers. We realise how difficult it is to confront drinkers, but we witnessed people wondering around without masks, chatting to people on other tables and hugging each other. We did not see any staff attempting to remind them of the current rules. During a pandemic affecting people's breathing, I also think vaping should not be allowed inside the bar area. It would be interesting to have a response from the management.

We are two couples that had lunch at Quench while spending the day in Port Townsend. The waitstaff was lovely and friendly. We sat on the deck outside. After perusing the menu, we considered leaving. It looked like the usual selection of salads and burgers. But we stuck it out and ordered a pulled pork sandwich, two panzenella salads and the seasonal vegetables. I might also mention that we are people that enjoy preparing and eating good food. We were BLOWN AWAY by the quality. The ‘seasonal vegetables’ was actually a slightly spicy coconut red curry with a fried egg on the top. The salads came with crispy cubes of grilled bread, salmon cooked just right and a pesto dressing. The sandwich was a delicious Cuban with onion rings fried to perfection. What a sleeper hit!! Our only complaint is that the menu does not do justice to what arrives. Quench is hiding their light under a barrel. We will defiantly be back and recommend to friends.

Came for the first time as a group of 3 for breakfast/lunch, decor is nice inside and we were excited about trying somewhere new. First disappointment was receiving two glasses of ‘orange juice’ which were either very watered down juice or a strange tasting orange squash - a bit cheeky for £2.40 each. Ordered one avocado on toast, one sausage baguette and one of the fish & chip butties. The avocado arrived and immediately had a strange look and smell to it; we queried it as the taste was bad too and were told they don’t use fresh avocado as they go off too quickly so they use frozen avo and microwave it to serve. I might expect this from a cheap pub or builders cafe (probably not) but not somewhere that advertises fresh food. This plate did not get touched. Baguette was rock solid on one end (also probably frozen and then defrosted) so inedible but except for this, the rest of the food was decent. Chips were very nice! Waitress was polite enough and apologised for the avocado offering a replacement. Unfortunately, we won’t be back and remain on the hunt for a nice fresh cafe in this area.

Came for brunch with some family. Nice environment, friendly staff. However, they serve frozen avocado that they warm in a microwave and serve it straight out like that. Smelt like old potato. Tasted worse. The waitress said they do that because fresh avocado goes off too quickly. The baguettes were frozen too. One had gone so solid at one end it was inedible. They charge too much to freeze everything. Won't go back.

Never ever have I been to a bar and treated so badly Firstly ignored by staff as they were chatting, then asked for a medium white wine, and coke, asked what size I said medium, to be told that’s £10!!! I questioned the price to then have a price list put in front of me. I was charged for a sauvignon Blanc Marlborough without being asked what wine I wanted. When I questioned the barman his attitude was I don’t Care and walked away, I asked for the manager and he said I am the manager. This will not be forgotten and will be taken further....

Having moved into the area some eighteen months ago, this place has definitely become my favourite hostelry. Good food, breakfasts are good quality produce and plenty of it, jackets and burgers good also. What draws me to Quench is the great selection of craft beers on keg and in can, constantly changing, never giving you a chance to get bored. What the craft seen is all about. 3 handpumps also cater for real ale lovers with a good selection always available. Spirits generally not run of the mill, more niche market, no Bacardi here!!! Quench does get busy, testament to its success, but generally maintains a good buzzing atmosphere and staff are friendly and efficient and staffing levels are such that you don’t normally wait long. All in all, a nice place to drink or eat, note food only till 3 p.m though.

Been here a couple of times and have to say that the focus here is the good choice of beers ad wines. Food choices are limited and be careful if you visit in a large group as on occasions things don't turn up as expected, I've had burnt pizza and under-cooked burgers. Staff are friendly and try hard, my suggestion is to only come here in small groups to avoid disappointment.

AVOID AVOID AVOID TERRIBLE PLACE. Use to be nice, has really gone downhill. Staff are dreadful, one in particular. He was very rude and aggressive to myself, my friend and my two daughters who got very nervous. He clearly is not a people person and should not be in such a customer focused role. When the “manager” came out to see us, she was not apologetic but instead told us they had received several complaints about him before but as they were short staffed had no choice but to keep him on. Quench was empty, we were the only ones in there, it was lunchtime!! Use to be packed, severely gone downhill, will be closed down to make way for the new development in no time at all

Visited lunchtime with some friends. Ordered Halloumi salad and asked to have it without the red onions. Order was taken down and request re. onions noted. Half an hour later when the order arrived it had onions through it. I offered to remove them myself rather than send it back and wait even longer and was brought a plate to assist. The halloumi which was supposed to be served as Halloumi chips - was virtually cold, very over-cooked so the cheese had virtually disappeared and there was just this tasteless very greasy crunchy stuff; unseasoned and just tasting of cold grease. I left that. After several minutes the waiter came over with a jusg of dressing as this had been forgotten. The sour dough that was meant to accompany never did arrive. So I ended up with a plate of green salad and tomato. Very poor.

Bar is lovely, I'm a fan, but was left a little disappointed today. We went in at lunch, 9 of us and ordered food. Staff serving were pleasant, but food took too long. I get that this is because there is one chef, but it meant too long a wait for everyone to receive. One of the orders had raw potato in the chips. Waiter acknowledged, bit no comeback/apology from chef. One of the burgers had significant gristle. We felt quench couldn't cater for a semi-big group. Upon mentioning our concerns to the waiter, chef came out, but to watch the football. We liked quench overall, but just felt disheartened by the experience. Shame

I've now visited Quench on four occasions. Each time the service has been very poor - on three occasions, items were forgotten that had been ordered. On the most recent visit it took 15 minutes after arriving for someone to ask if we 'needed help'. Our drinks were then forgotten and we had to ask for them. There appears to be a complete lack of customer service with no apologies for any errors made. The chips we ordered were uncooked and had soaked up the foul tasting oil they'd been cooked in. Although we received a refund for the chips, overall the bad experiences mean we won't be coming back.

It's your regular favourites that are done using locally sourced produce, with a twist. The burgers are the headliners and the choice is vast. Delicious. All served with hand cut chips. Well I just experienced a very enjoyable lunch with my husband at Quench in Burgess Hill. The menu had lots of lovely home made goodies to choose from including lots of choices for burgers. The bonus of eating there today is that you currently receive a handful of free chips when you eat on a Thursday lunchtime. I opted for the cheese and tomato Panini and my husband enjoyed a fish sandwich. The food was delicious and we remarked how lovely the chunky chips were. The service was with a smile and the atmosphere was lovely. We would definitely recommend Quench to all our friends.

Me and my other half went to quench for lunch last week.We sat down and looked through the menu which is nice and simple. I ordered the burger( bacon and cheese) locally produced from the butchers down the road. Didn't have to wait long for our food to come(it was fairly quiet at the time). The burger was cooked perfectly if you ask me. Once finished we asked for the bill it was a little more expensive than most other places...but well worth the extra for the quality of food you receive.

Popped in for a lunchtime meal and found the atmosphere quite relaxing. The food did take rather a long time to arrive but was assured the meal was freshly prepared and that was the reason.Food and drink quality was very good but a little on the pricey side. Service was very pleasant and attentive.

Pop in here for lunch and a beer most days. Always friendly and food very nice. Also like the new decor. The only place in burgess hill where idiots seem not to drink this is the only pub in the town that is worth going to in my opinion

good atmosphere with some good live music to welcome in the new year. good choice of drinks. my only complaint was that the music stopped at midnight and did not carry on for a while into the NY, so it ended abruptly.

I have been here for lunch several times and actually prefer it in the day than as a bar in the evening. The food is great and really good value and you get service with a smile :)

We have eaten breakfast here twice, on both occasions impressed with relaxed surroundings but prompt, efficient and friendly service,Food clearly freshly cooked and felt we could stay as long as we wanted whilst sat in comfort, definitely worth the short walk up the high street for somewhere so nice and out of the queues and chaos in town!We had our 2nd breakfast just before midday so ordered the hand cut chips as well - market research you understand and can confirm as per other reviews they r super good!!! Would certainly return for lunch or dinner - all reasonably priced!!

I had my first lunch at quench and it was delicious. I had a wonderful chicken burger with homemade chips, which were probably the best chips I have ever eaten. I would definitely eat here again and recommend it. It was reasonably priced and perfectly cooked.

My coffee experience failed at the first hurdle. £4.95 for a flat white. A coffee that could be "enjoyed" over looking a dusty car park, or from a hard looking interior with no atmosphere whatsoever. This is just nonsense. From two previous experiences I had looked forward to sitting on the balcony overlooking the vineyard. What a let down. I believe it is a legal requirement for traders to display prices. Then is none on show for consumers to make an informed decision.

Popped in here for a bacon and sausage baguette. Was very disappointed in the baguette. I expected more in it for the money I paid. Which with a coke was over 7 pound and all I got was 1 sausage and one and a bit rasher of bacon. Not value for money in my opinion.
