Really love this pub. The food is great, and the people who work there are very kind and friendly. Shout out to Josh, he's been there a while now, and is always kind and helpful! I'd say this is probably our favourite pub. For sure our "go to" when we have people over, or if we're just too tired to cook and want to go out. Thanks for being great!

Great selection of veggie/plant based dishes at this establishment which is why we chose it. Very allergy aware. One main course was served and 10 minutes later we were still waiting for the second one - the waiter said he would check and came out with the meal almost immediately informing us that 'the plate was hot'. This suggests that it had been sat under a heat lamp for some time and was actually ready at the same time as the other meal. Lovely garden to relax in on a sunny day.

We had booked a table online, we were given menus at the bar and told to find our own table- we sat outside but unfortunately all the tables were dirty. Food wasn't great, we ordered sharing camembert- only came with 2 bits of bread and 4 crackers!! A coffee was ordered at the end of the evening-9.30- it didn't turn up after 10 mins so asked at the bar. They informed me they had closed down coffee machine and would give me a refund. Sadly this placd has really gone down hill since my last visit.

Service was very slow although staff friendly, waited 45 mins just for 3 colas to arrive. Ordered 3 Sunday lunch roasts. beef was tuff, dry and fatty, pork was dry and tuff, guess pre sliced meat not from freshly cooked joint on the day. Roasted potatoes not well roasted raw in middle of some, food arrived Luke warm not hot, would have sent back like others I saw do but was too hungry from the waiting, didn’t stop for dessert as wanted to get home before dark. Very overpriced for the quality of food received. Won’t be going back there again.

Not sure what to rate the food as given our group of 14 are still waiting 1hr 10mins for food which was ordered days ahead of arrival. The late food would be given benefit of the doubt if it was the first time, but we had a similar experience a year ago where we waited for over an hour for food, and the pub was far less busy than today. Edited: food was all bought in. Bought in chicken pie with barely any chicken and very salty, and further insulted with powder mash potato. My friend's salmon had to be returned as it was undercooked (surprising given how long food took to arrive). The fish finger sandwich was a sorry couple of birdseye style fish fingers - no tasty homemade batter, just freezer food. Terrible second experience. There certainly won't be a third.

A Quintessential Roast Dinner Experience! A delightful Easter weekend roast dinner at The Queens College Arms, and it was truly a feast to remember. The pork roast stole the show with its succulent meat and scrumptious crackling – a perfect blend of flavours and textures that left me craving for more. Despite the inability to enjoy the outdoor seating due to the weather, the cozy atmosphere indoors added to the charm of the dining experience. The service was impeccable, and every aspect of the meal was executed with precision. I'm already looking forward to returning in the summer to fully appreciate the outdoor ambiance. If you're in search of a quintessential roast dinner paired with excellent service and a great selection of wine, look no further than The Queens College Arms. Highly recommended!

Review of a Sunday lunch. It was a bit disappointing for my guests. Good points: The waitress was at the top of her game. She was friendly, pleasant and helpful. I had hoped that the food would be of the same quality. Unfortunately, the beef was so tough it couldn’t be eaten. (Left overs taken home for dog) The roast potatoes looked like baked smaller potatoes - they may have been roasted afterwards? Not a roast spud as I know it. I had the pork, so was unaware of this when I paid the bill. (Mine was ok…) Had I known, I would have told them as I feel they’ll lose customers in the future. The waitress had come over once dinner was served and asked was all ok and we all said yes as we had just started eating the meal. Unfortunately, the people I had dinner with didn’t say until later on at home. I commented on the beef as I tried to cut it for the dog. Lovely people at the pub they just need to adjust a few things to make it better than it is. Of course, it could have been a bad joint of beef which can happen from time to time.

On arrival our table was not ready. The manager was polite and gave us a round of free drinks. We had to wait about 15 mins, which was fine. There was a long wait to order, we ordered 2 x adult roast and 1 x Childs. The food came out quick and was hot. Unfortunately the gravy for the child’s meal had a whole layer of grease on the top, luckly this was in a jug so we were able to send the gravy back and not the meal. My wife’s meal was okey, unfortunately my roast the chicken was dry, the gravy was salty and greasy and the potatoes were hard. I spoke with the manager and he was polite offered to change it, I declined I was happy just to have a pudding which he offered on the house. On finishing our meal, we had a long wait until the pudding menu came out, at which point we were kindly asked if we could order our puddings but eat them through the bar as the table was needed. I felt for the waitress’s as she seem embarrassed to ask. The worse thing about it was we were seated late only had one course and ordered no drinks and was now being rushed off the table. We declined to order a pudding and cut our losses. The experience was a let down in a place we have enjoyed a number of good meals in the past. The staff were polite and tried to make amends, but when you bring someone out for a special occasion unfortunately it’s not good enough.

The friendliest staff, even on days when they're clearly having a tough day. I've been in twice and the second occasion was a very busy day when evidently they were very understaffed for whatever reason and those working were exhausted! Their politeness and smiles never faltered however. The wait times may have been a bit longer, but who cares? If you're out for a pub lunch and you're in a rush, you're not doing British life right...! Kudos to them all for keeping their chins up and doing a fantastic job regardless of what's going on.

We've had a few nice meals at the Queens College Arms, however, this use to be a great meeting point for families with children in the summer months, as there is a large enclosed garden with plenty of seating, which up until last year, had a great play area. However, we have stopped meeting friends here in nice weather because we'd prefer a pub garden with play facilities. Otherwise, the bus stop is handy and the Badger's Ale are always appreciated! @nicolecorrineengland

Don’t go here if you have allergies or any intolerances. We waited nearly 2 hours for food and had to jump through many loops to be served as one of the party has a dairy allergy and one was gluten intolerant. We were told the wait was due to our allergies. This could have been handled in many different ways. Poor waitress was run off her feet and the other lady’s demeanour was less than desirable for someone who works in the service industry. I want to make it clear that the waitress who served us was wonderful. But beyond that, a huge letdown. On sitting down and seeing the prices, you would imagine that the food is of a high level of quality. This couldn’t be more misleading. The food took ages to come. We had a sharing Camembert to start and it came with toasted bread that was basically just sliced Hovis. As for the mains. My mac and cheese was hardly a main. I honestly wish I’d just got myself a Charlie Binghams from Sainsbury’s. It was a tiny portion, flavourless and overall just totally underwhelming. Luckily I got some chicken goujon things from the starter menu to go with my main, which made it more of a meal. But these were also so unenjoyable that I didn’t bother to finish my meal. Fortunately it was 33% off for a Monday so we saved some money, yet these should be the prices as standard if anything because for the quality and portions the prices are an absolute ripoff. We forwent the dessert to grab it from Sainsbury’s.

Card only payment which itself is annoyingly common now. I was told that after COVID cash just didn't come back. The worst. We come here every year for Father’s Day but won’t be returning. The food took over an hour to arrive. Despite asking staff to check on the status of our order because we were worried that it would be sat under lights at the pass, it took a further 15 minutes to arrive. The children’s pasta bowl was red hot and had obviously been sat at the pass for an extended period of time. The roast pork must have been boiled in water because the fat was completed soggy and inedible. The beef had been cooked to within an inch of its life. Inedible. No mint sauce. No apple sauce. The vegetables had clearly been sat under heat too. We told the Manager when paying but there was no offer of any compensation such as a complimentary round of drinks of percentage off the bill. All he offered was for us to come back again before the next Father’s Day. No thank you. I will be contacting Hall and Woodhouse.

We stopped off here for a late lunch on a whim during a motorway trip from the south coast to Bedfordshire. (Asked Google to show the nearest pubs/restaurants and this was the nearest that was open for food in the afternoon.) The place wasn't very busy, service prompt and attentive, but not overly so, and food delicious. We both opted for pies; me the Sun Inn Fish Pie and my husband the Cottage Pie - piping hot, very tasty, with a selection of perfectly cooked vegetables. There were plenty of gluten-free options for me, and it was good to have that choice. Portion size was perfect too, not too much to make you feel over-stuffed or the need to leave some, but we definitely feel like we have had a good meal. (My one preference would be for just a couple more green beans on the plate! Not a deal-breaker though 😊.) We would be happy to make a detour here again in the future. Thank you! 😋 (Generally, the restaurant area didn't have quite the atmosphere of the cosier drinks part of the Inn. Having more clientele would help.)

We called into the pub to talk to them about arranging lunch for a large party after a christening. We did that especially because we wanted to know where we might be sat. This was an important event for us. We were shown a lovely area and it was explained how tables could be put together. We booked, and were looking forward to it. We were surprised when we arrived for the lunch to find we had been put in a tiny annex away from the main dining area. Chairs had been squeezed in, there was no room for high chairs or the pushchair and we had to squeeze past each other to reach seats. The children kept having to duck under the table to go to the toilet. We had been asked to pre order our meals, but many of them were wrong when they arrived and four of the desserts did not arrive and we had to find someone to ask for them ( after about 15 mins of waiting). All in all it was disappointing to say the least and we will never go there again. It felt like we were just treated like captive customers and they couldn’t be bothered. Actually we have lots of family events and our repeat custom would have been valuable.

Stumbled upon this place whilst passing by and really chuffed. A good proper pub. Nothing fancy, just a nice old skool English pub. Good beer, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and the locals seemed happy to chat too. Bravo.
