Some meals were borderline cold instead of piping hot.

Admittedly service was slow when I had lunch with friends at The Queen's College Arms recently. However when the food was served my meal was excellent.

The food at QCA was good and the portions were fantastic on the Sunday roasts. The service was generally good and the staff were all polite. However, it took a few minutes for anyone to acknowledge us when we arrived (despite many staff and the manager being in the immediate area). Later we had to wait over thirty minutes for desserts and it seems likely that our order was missed as they didn't appear until a few minutes after we asked for them and other diners, who we saw ordering after us, got theirs first. The desserts were good when they arrived.

I visited with my disabled dad here, a couple of Mondays now, as they have 33% off all food. We always have a warm welcome, the staff are so helpful and can't do enough for you. Lovely garden, with plenty of tables. Food good, lots of choice, they are happy to replace any food you don't like, the fish pie is delicious and the chicken salad is packed full of goodness, with plenty of chicken 😋

Called in at the QCA today for a pint and a packet of crisps and a packet of peanuts. " Sorry Sir we do not sell nuts of any form anymore due to people's allergies. Ludicrous! My DIL has a very severe nut allergy carries an epipen with her. She even thought this was bonkers. This is not a Hall &Woodhouse policy I have asked. So 99.5% of us who don't have a nut allergy have to bow to those who do. If someone on the next table asked me not to eat them of course I wouldn't but really! It's not only the most expensive pub around but the most stupid. Have lived in the area and used the pub for 42 years, no longer will we!

Good menu choices, friendly, efficient service.

An absolutely gorgeous pub! The food was excellent - everything tasted home made, whether it was or not. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because I had the pie with red cabbage and the red cabbage was far too sweet - the same for the gravy with the sausages and mash. Other than that, the best pub meal I've had in a long time and everyone else agreed.

Delicious Roast beef Sunday dinner. There was loads of meat- the veggies were delicious- staff were lovely!! Great Sunday lunch overall!!

The Best staff, very friendly and take time with each guest. Good choice of food with specials at the weekends. Burger Wednesday is brilliant with any burger for less than £11 especially the H & W burger which is amazing.

The waiters in the restaurant were very friendly and treated us warmly. Our family of three were very satisfied with the quality of the food. The environment and atmosphere were comfortable. We will definitely come back.

Disappointing!!! Food was dreadful. Burger bun was stale hard, tiny & poor quality beef patties with no flavour. Triple cooked chips were just standard fried chips. Fish pie was made with new potatoes rather than creamy mash with little fish which again wasn’t great. Warm chocolate pudding desert was nice but just a shame the mains were so bad. Staff were friendly but service was slow. I won’t be returning and certainly wouldn’t recommend.

Lovely meal, thank you for taking the time to make us feel safe eating out with a peanut allergy and coeliac in our family, we will be back !

Very good food nice workers good atmosphere

Very nice experience indeed. We had the Sunday Roast. Food was delicious and in very friendy and warm atmosphere. Staff was always kind and supportive. I highly recommend it.

Lunch today was disappointing. Had a double cheeseburger but it was nothing special and the burger patties and cheese seemed cheap compared to other pubs I've been to. Venue itself is very nice though and the staff were really helpful and accommodating.

Think it's absolutely pathetic that I need to speak to a bot when trying to make a booking to accommodate our needs and get know where, this what is wrong with the pathetic British society of today, no human touch.

We met some friends at The Queens College Arms for lunch today, and it was an A* experience from start to finish. Lovely welcome from a super friendly staff, delicious food at a very reasonable price, and great service. Thank you.

Me and my wife went for dinner. Lovely food and good portions. Service could be a bit faster. We waited a while for someone to take our order and also for the food to arrive. But we both really enjoyed our food.

Very welcoming upon arrival for Christmas lunch.

Used to love this place until recently. The guy behind the bar was rude and had an poor attitude and was wearing shorts In winter (I almost called the police) The rest of the staff seemed nice although half asleep. The food was basic and the choice of whisky has dropped from a nice selection to cheap crap. The cashless part was the final nail for us and we probably won't return

Give the blonde lady on front of house a pay rise - fair play to her but she really shouldn’t have been looking after everyone single handedly and she was so lovely. Lots of staff wondering round but seemed to be mainly in the kitchen. The food took a long time and when it came it was very underwhelming - had better steaks at beefeater.

Went for Christmas Eve dinner and was a little disappointed by the whole experience, which was a shame as we have been here before and it was lovely. Firstly the man behind the bar was not the friendliest and a little curt when we said we had a reservation. We were then put in the corner in a separate part of the pub, which to be honest, wasn't that nice so we asked to be moved, plus the seats at our table were really narrow and uncomfortable. The whole service was incredibly slow. It took 1 hour 50 minutes to eat one course, then to have the table cleared and for us to order the second course which was not good at all. We even asked for the bill when ordering the second course because we knew it could take a very long time to get it otherwise as we just kept getting forgotten about. We know the bar was busy but it was not packed and there were a lot of staff on, so there was no excuse for it to be that slow. The food was nice but the speed of everything was not good at all. It really let the place down.

Had a very nice dinner here last night. Food excellent, atmosphere lovely, and our server Sam was super. It was busy, so had a little wait here and there, but we didn't go for fast food. Its a very friendly place.

No disappointment here, good food that's well prepared and just the right sized portions. We've been regular visitors in this year past and it has an easy to use booking system with a decent choice on the menu

Over priced for what we had. £15.95 for a chilli dog that was a normal sausage in a bun. I could have feed a family of 5 with that money for a better more nutritious meal. The service was good though. The food disappointing.

Brilliant Christmas meal, service was quick and food fantastic

Such a warm and welcoming team of staff and such a cosy old pub to relax in. The food is delicious with a wide choice of dishes. A great deal of car spaces in the offroad car park. Highly recommend for friends, families, and parties! It's also in such a handy location from many directions for a meet-up.

The food is good and the service was friendly. If you have any allergies you may want to look elsewhere. The staff are helpful when it comes to checking ingredients, however, it’s the restaurant’s policy that they won’t make ANY changes to what is on the menu. I have a citrus allergy and while I could order drinks without lemon, they wouldn’t simply not place a lemon wedge on my plate. The restaurant management’s attitude towards allergies is deeply disappointing.

Came for lunch with my sister and her two kids. Service was brilliant, thank you to Samantha for being so attentive. Would come again and would recommend

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent, especially the sponge pudding!

My wife was ignored at the bar and two other customers served ahead of her (Sexist? Heightest?). The patio tables were full of uncollected glasses and the patio itself covered in cigarette ends. We were told only 1 of the 3 badger beers was on tap because it 'wasn't worth' having more on tap at this time of year (despite this being a hall and Woodhouse pub!). Bowl of chips we ordered took so long to come out that we'd all finished our drinks by then plus had to collect from the bar ourselves. Won't be going back for a long time. Such a shame.

Went there yesterday afternoon .the lady looking after was Sam brilliant funny and chatty .I took my friend there to cheer her up . We had fishfinger sandwich and steaksandwich both very good . .very good afternoon thank you

Had a great lunch today. We last ate here beginning of the year vowed never to go back food was inedible. It is now September and we fancied a lunch out so we came you both had really great food. We will be back.

Excellent food and ambiance . The pub is owned by Queens College Oxford, hence the mortarboard suspended from the ceiling.

I recently visited a charming country pub that was lovely. The cosy atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious, hearty meals made for a delightful experience. Good selection of ales and wines. A perfect spot for a relaxing, enjoyable meal!

Everything was great BUT it was disappointing when the young man came to take our order whilst chewing a cocktail stick not what I expect

Great place for a drink or a meal

Really love this pub. The food is great, and the people who work there are very kind and friendly. Shout out to Josh, he's been there a while now, and is always kind and helpful! I'd say this is probably our favourite pub. For sure our "go to" when we have people over, or if we're just too tired to cook and want to go out. Thanks for being great!

Great selection of veggie/plant based dishes at this establishment which is why we chose it. Very allergy aware. One main course was served and 10 minutes later we were still waiting for the second one - the waiter said he would check and came out with the meal almost immediately informing us that 'the plate was hot'. This suggests that it had been sat under a heat lamp for some time and was actually ready at the same time as the other meal. Lovely garden to relax in on a sunny day.

We had booked a table online, we were given menus at the bar and told to find our own table- we sat outside but unfortunately all the tables were dirty. Food wasn't great, we ordered sharing camembert- only came with 2 bits of bread and 4 crackers!! A coffee was ordered at the end of the evening-9.30- it didn't turn up after 10 mins so asked at the bar. They informed me they had closed down coffee machine and would give me a refund. Sadly this placd has really gone down hill since my last visit.

Food portion was disappointing for the price, only 1 cask beer on and was rushed to order food by 19.30 even though food was supposed to be served until 21.00

Nice place. Pleasant sitting in the garden at 5pm as not too busy. Food was good and staff friendly.

Service was very slow although staff friendly, waited 45 mins just for 3 colas to arrive. Ordered 3 Sunday lunch roasts. beef was tuff, dry and fatty, pork was dry and tuff, guess pre sliced meat not from freshly cooked joint on the day. Roasted potatoes not well roasted raw in middle of some, food arrived Luke warm not hot, would have sent back like others I saw do but was too hungry from the waiting, didn’t stop for dessert as wanted to get home before dark. Very overpriced for the quality of food received. Won’t be going back there again.

Lots of space and friendly staff

Chicken schnitzel and Yasmin, Matt, Georgie, Leah, Sam, Josh, Alicia, Nigel, Saul and all the kitchen team have to be mentioned as they are all genuinely faultless and always 100% in what they do.

Not sure what to rate the food as given our group of 14 are still waiting 1hr 10mins for food which was ordered days ahead of arrival. The late food would be given benefit of the doubt if it was the first time, but we had a similar experience a year ago where we waited for over an hour for food, and the pub was far less busy than today. Edited: food was all bought in. Bought in chicken pie with barely any chicken and very salty, and further insulted with powder mash potato. My friend's salmon had to be returned as it was undercooked (surprising given how long food took to arrive). The fish finger sandwich was a sorry couple of birdseye style fish fingers - no tasty homemade batter, just freezer food. Terrible second experience. There certainly won't be a third.

The pub is very nice, easy to get to on the main road from Basingstoke to Tadley. It has a large patio and grass area, dog friendly and SW facing. The roast beef was very good, 21 day aged. All in all a good meal, it was my 3rd time here but 1st Sunday lunch.

Been here a handful of times, usually Sunday lunchtime. Roast has been hit and miss, either really good or really disappointing. Have been made to wait 30 mins for a pre-booked table. Gets stuffy and is a bit cramped.

Review of a Sunday lunch. It was a bit disappointing for my guests. Good points: The waitress was at the top of her game. She was friendly, pleasant and helpful. I had hoped that the food would be of the same quality. Unfortunately, the beef was so tough it couldn’t be eaten. (Left overs taken home for dog) The roast potatoes looked like baked smaller potatoes - they may have been roasted afterwards? Not a roast spud as I know it. I had the pork, so was unaware of this when I paid the bill. (Mine was ok…) Had I known, I would have told them as I feel they’ll lose customers in the future. The waitress had come over once dinner was served and asked was all ok and we all said yes as we had just started eating the meal. Unfortunately, the people I had dinner with didn’t say until later on at home. I commented on the beef as I tried to cut it for the dog. Lovely people at the pub they just need to adjust a few things to make it better than it is. Of course, it could have been a bad joint of beef which can happen from time to time.

We have been to The Queens College Arms on multiple occasions for dinner and we have never been let down. The food is always been really good. The staff are always helpful and friendly! We will be going back again soon I’m sure!!!

Our third visit in maybe a year and we've been blessed with the same waitress each time.She's of stellar quality, the food was good as was the atmosphere. Highly recommended

If you ever breakdown, this is the place to be! After breaking down near by we need place to rest and eat. Every single member of staff was beyond friendly, caring and thoughtful of the situation They've turned a traumatic experience into a memory. They made the day much easier to manage! If we are ever in the area again, we will be returning!

One of my favourite places to visit. Always lovely food, the staff are fantastic and a big selection of drinks.

Service very slow. Got order wrong multiple times and missing items. Sunday roast beef was too hard to cut and eat and had to ask for a steak knife to cut it. Food a little on the cold side. Cleaned the tables multiple times our selves and took glasses to the bar. Got our own drinks on the 2nd order. Bar guy just rude. Asked for coffee but they wanted the table for the next guests so we paid and left.

On arrival our table was not ready. The manager was polite and gave us a round of free drinks. We had to wait about 15 mins, which was fine. There was a long wait to order, we ordered 2 x adult roast and 1 x Childs. The food came out quick and was hot. Unfortunately the gravy for the child’s meal had a whole layer of grease on the top, luckly this was in a jug so we were able to send the gravy back and not the meal. My wife’s meal was okey, unfortunately my roast the chicken was dry, the gravy was salty and greasy and the potatoes were hard. I spoke with the manager and he was polite offered to change it, I declined I was happy just to have a pudding which he offered on the house. On finishing our meal, we had a long wait until the pudding menu came out, at which point we were kindly asked if we could order our puddings but eat them through the bar as the table was needed. I felt for the waitress’s as she seem embarrassed to ask. The worse thing about it was we were seated late only had one course and ordered no drinks and was now being rushed off the table. We declined to order a pudding and cut our losses. The experience was a let down in a place we have enjoyed a number of good meals in the past. The staff were polite and tried to make amends, but when you bring someone out for a special occasion unfortunately it’s not good enough.

The steak and ale pie was delicious and stuffed full of meat. The service was really friendly and helpful, a really good fun pub. And a nice stop on a day out walking.

Family meal for 6 adults, altogether quite good. the table we were alocated had very noisy position being next to a baby shower group of 8 women, were glad when they were served as the noise lvel reduced.

All the staff were happy and friendly. The pub has a great vibe, relaxed and welcoming. Food was good and arrived quickly.

A pub facing the A340 main road. The main building is made of brick from the late 18th century, and the signboard along the road is from the early 19th century. Is it a monthly change to show solidarity with Ukraine, which has been invaded by Russia? A Kiev chicken dish was prepared as a special dish, so I ordered it and it was quite delicious.

Very good food, with super friendly staff that even though it was our first visit, they made us feel like we have been regulars for years. Plenty of parking.

The friendliest staff, even on days when they're clearly having a tough day. I've been in twice and the second occasion was a very busy day when evidently they were very understaffed for whatever reason and those working were exhausted! Their politeness and smiles never faltered however. The wait times may have been a bit longer, but who cares? If you're out for a pub lunch and you're in a rush, you're not doing British life right...! Kudos to them all for keeping their chins up and doing a fantastic job regardless of what's going on.

A lovely lunch with four generations of our family. A warm welcome, excellent service and food/drink. Extremely accommodating for our 8 month old little girl and Yorkiepoo. Our waiter Ben was amazing, kept us topped up with drinks and was very attentive. Will definitely be back again soon!

We've had a few nice meals at the Queens College Arms, however, this use to be a great meeting point for families with children in the summer months, as there is a large enclosed garden with plenty of seating, which up until last year, had a great play area. However, we have stopped meeting friends here in nice weather because we'd prefer a pub garden with play facilities. Otherwise, the bus stop is handy and the Badger's Ale are always appreciated! @nicolecorrineengland

Had a really nice Sunday roast in this lovely, roomy and relaxed pub with excellent service (Samantha, I think, was our server?). I'd recommend it to anyone in the area and will go again if I'm passing through!

Booked had a table within 2 hrs had starter Prawn cocktail good. Christmas lunch Turkey, Roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding Red cabbage only a bit salty as don't ad salt my cooking at home. Christmas pudding is a with Toffee the pudding a little small. Very busy when we arrived a took about a hour to take our order otherwise food was very good

Great place to relax and enjoy a drink or something to eat. Quiz night is very engaging and entertaining.
