Happy House Chinese Takeaway in Basingstoke and Deane

The details for this place on Google are a mess. The correct address IS 3 Downsland Parade, Worting Road - I have been there in person. Downsland Road is entirely residental. The correct address is shown on their website but then the waters are muddied with an incorrect map. Twice I have corrected this; twice it's been 'accepted' but STILL Google does not show 'Parade'!

Ordered a takeaway, came within time.stated, all piping hot.fortune cookies were a nice little touch. Chicken curry was so liquid it could pour from the container, chicken very chewy & overheated. Salt and pepper chips came in a plastic container unlike the usual foil insulated bags and they'd gone soggy through condensation... I've never had a bad meal up until this one. I order on a regular basis... Very disappointed. Prices have risen whereas quality has dropped

Can’t believe haven’t used this place before sweet a sour pork balls , crisply beef , chicken chow mein . Won’t be using any other in the future

Not used this takeaway before. Came up on Deliveroo… but £4 cheaper to order direct! Beijing chicken is a rare option but spotted it and it was perfect. Egg fried rice was spot on… most just sell boiled rice with egg these days, this is actually brown, fried and tasty!! Beef and Mushrooms also really tasty. Whole meal was just as it should be, and delivered quickly and hot. Dare I say.. best Chinese I’ve had for about 15 years?!

Huge fan of crispy Chinese pancakes, had my first ones from here and the best I’ve ever had. My parents ate the rest of the duck and loved it. They gave me enough of sauce, spring onions and cucumber to last me till the last pancake, usually restaurants don’t do that. The fortune cookies were a great touch too!! Will be ordering this dish from here again!

Prawn in yellow bean sauce is one of my favourite dishes, until I had it here and now have been put off it for life. The prawns didn’t taste suitable for consumption- tastes VERY funky and now I’m concerned. Spring rolls are dehydrated and have zero stuffing…. Overcooked also. Believe the 3 stars. We are not a ‘Happy House’ here

Ordered takeaway for delivery. When it finally arrived , the food was cold. The chips were rock hard and tasted old. The rice had to be heated and the pancake roll was swimming in fat. Will not be ordering from there again.

Used to avoid this Chinese before the new take over as food was greasy and could taste the old oil used, food is now 10/10, highly recommend.

Can't fault the flavour or portions, but would suggest a better cuts of meat

This 5* review was when they were Sunnys Takeaway. Since becoming Happy House they're not the same and for the worse unfortunately.

Still mid way through eating my food and had to pause to leave a well deserved review. Being a caterer, I rarely find good takeaways these days. But, after a good 10 minutes of being indecisive we thought to try something new with Happy House. Let's just say, I'm very impressed and will most definitely be returning for this dish again - chicken udon noodles with extra chillies!! Both my partner and daughter also think their dishes were superb. I quote from our 8 year old " Mmmm it's great, probably the best Chinese I've had" Many thanks and hope to see you in the future for our treat!

I've used this place for many years, over that time I've not had anything but amazing food, however, due to COVID the OG will no longer be returning, therefore, his family members are now working the kitchen and what a fantastic job they're doing... as the kitchen is now under new staff - PLEASE do make sure you pass on any feedback which they'll really appreciate!

Ordered a Thursday night Chinese with a few friends. The guy taking order was great, knowledgeable, recommended some delicious dishes including the crispy chicken wings. Really crunchy even when we got home, huge portion too. Had a nice curry, had a good kick to it. Defo will head back there with the family next time.

I really like to support local businesses no matter what but unfortunately the food was that terrible I cannot support them it will also be the 2nd and last time I ever go! There front of house man is very nice and polite

Food's good but not much choice of fish and chips style food and you have to wait while they cook it. Also difficult to park.
