The Beach Arms Stonehouse in Basingstoke and Deane

I went to the beach arms last night for a birthday dinner. I was not impressed with the staff working there for starters he used a cloth on the floor then started wiping over tables with the same cloth. Waited for 40mins for my started and the burger was dripping with grease. Then had a member of staff hanging able to top of Us trying to make us do a review whilst we were still eating. I will never return to this establishment. I will be informing environmental health of stuff

Waited ages to be seated, then waited 40 minutes for starters after being told they were behind with orders. Starter was nice but for main s no real choice, either carvery, pizza or burger, we all opted for burgers, when it did come, the burgers were dripping in fat, greasy, and expected to see more on plate other than just chips to the side and I hate to say but better quality I ve seen in fast food restaurants. The desserts were OK, but I was shocked to see a young waiter take a customers plates away whilst still holding a surface spray bottle and cloth, had that been sprayed in customers face that would have been a disaster, and supposed to put that down in safe area before taking plates away. Was spraying areas all over place just feet from where we ate to which another colleague were apologising again for him. I used to work in restaurants and never seen it done like that so maybe experienced staff should give him a lesson in how to behave in the public area, only looked about 16. I came here as my last experience some years ago was a lovely one and I brought my family for a birthday treat to share this with me and neither them nor me were that impressed, to be honest I think it ll be a long time before we come back again, I just feel sad as it is a lovely looking pub/ restaurant it just needs more enthusiasm for the place by its staff members.

We visited the beach arms last night, just me and my grandson. We had a lovely meal, the service was really good. I was served by Ruben and Pavelo, they were excellent, very attentive and polite. The food was served quickly and was really good. Will definitely return again soon and will recommend to friends and family.

There is a reason you pay upfront here!! Brought grandchildren after school for dinner. Only ones in the restaurant. All carvery food was uncovered and dried up, roast potatoes must have been out ages ago and were tough, yorkshire puddings rock hard and inedible. Skin on the mash potato, thick skin on all 3 pots of gravy. No one at the carvery to carve had to call out then wait for them to finish their conversation! Food was luke warm at best if I hadn't already paid i would have walked out. Waitress stood at bar and watched me walk away from the bar with tray of 3 drinks, limping as I have a knee injury, no offer to help to bring drinks over. Later she asked how was our meals were to which I responded not great, luke warm birdering on cold. She advised she would pass the message on. A man came over and offered another dinner after we were half way through so I declined, offered me a dessert I said I would have dessert for the children to go with their ice creams. He sent 2 plates and one piece of cake for them to share!!!! For an 8 year old child to say nan this is really not good sort of says it all. Needless to say we will never go back. Appalling food quality and service - never mind one measly piecee of cake between 2 we should have been offered a refund at the very least. Don't waste your money here!

Our visit was ruined by a (disabled) guest who was obviously distressed by the experience and kept using foul language; her carer should not have brought her in; the staff assured us that they were not warned in advance and it was the first time to their knowledge they had visited

Had lunch with wife and two young kids. All had carvery and bottomless ice cream. Food was brilliant and service from the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Kids were also given colouring games to keep them entertained whilst food was going through. Additionally I have recently come out mid week with friends, and the value of the weekday 50% off deals is mind bogglingly cheap for what you get! I had a handmade honey pork pizza for £6!! Will definitely be returning with family again soon, and very happy to recommend the venue. Finally it's worth getting the Stonehouse app as it's pretty simple, allows bookings and table service, and you can get a hold of extra deals now and then that just make going a no brainer! Charles was very pleaseant, polite and efficient exactly what you want from a waiter, food was also of a high standard really enjoyed the Calzone. Restaurant was clean and well laid out overall an excellent visit. Left the above review 3 years ago just went to leave another 5 star review for Chef Charles and this popped up had to go show him. I have to say it's even better than before so 6 stars from me now

A very nice place with good food and friendly staff. Sunday's can be quite busy so you have to queue sometimes for service but you can order from your table if you want to. I would suggest if you want to eat on Sunday you should book ahead to avoid disappointment. Will go back again.

Wasn’t very impressed after driving over an hour to meet a friend that also drove an hour from hers as we picked this place. Pictures made it look lovely and food was amazing HOWEVER the outside was lovely, the inside is appalling - seriously needs some interior improvement, the seating was ripped/leather worn away random decoration and felt more of a weatherspoons than a nice place to eat and smelt rather funky too! We ordered our meals and the meat was awful as I had a pulled pork burger chips and halloumi fries- the burger was disgusting as the burgers tasted off, the pulled pork was odd and anaemic but the halloumi fries was burnt to hell. The garlic bread was burnt that you could use as a frisbee. When we mentioned our concerns the waitress said nothing. Whilst eating the whole place filled with smoke as something was seriously burning. Then to follow I paid £5.79 for a sticky toffee pudding that was actually a bloomin muffin with custard! Honestly people save your money and stomachs for a better place because I for one will never return!!

Lovely place. Great food, lovely staff, and it's a calm environment. Perfect to go with the family, friends, and enjoy the outside space during the summer.

Our Experience was: Good: Amazing Quality tasty delicious Food (The meat was cooked brilliant and apple pie was heavenly), Friendly Staff, Clean calm environment Okay: Meal pricing was good for Christmas Days (Compared to others), Soft Drinks were the standard competitive (For any day, no increase for Christmas day), Easy to Find, Parking was no issues Bad: Nothing, literally nothing Overall: We will be attending again and definitely for Christmas Note: We Attended for Christmas day as they had a nothing special Christmas Dinner (Wings, Carvery and Apple Pie). Its my opinion if your going to pay Christmas Dinner Prices, you want it to be all 3 courses you desire.

This place has gone downhill and the staff look like they are bing forced to work there. Carvery meat was dry, roast potatoes were disgusting blocks of cardboard. Absolutely no customer service. I wouldn't waste money there again.

Staff were nowhere to be found when we arrived to seat us. Table not cleaned properly. Discount app wouldn't load, own Stonehouse app won't load so can't get the loyalty bonus. Food was superb though

We had a party of 16 booked in for the Festive Lunch menu. The carvery meat was quite nice but the veg looked very sad, tasted bland and was pretty cold. A lot of our party had to wait almost an hour to be served, which wasn't great, but hardly surprising - we felt incredibly sorry for the solitary staff member waiting tables who was an absolute trooper! Georgia (or Georgie, can't remember - sorry!) was helpful, polite, and engaging at the bar, and the raffle for the homeless charity was an excellent idea too.

we sat down the place was empty, no one came to our table to serve us we had to go to the bar. We got to the carvery station and there was no beef which we weren’t told when ordering all the veg was so dry and looked awful. We asked for a refund as we wanted to leave because there was no beef and all the sides looked gross the woman gave us a refund didn’t apologise or anything.

The best carvery I have had in ages . Was able to accommodate 9 of us with in 20 mins amazing xx

Booked a carvery lunch for a coach party of 44 retirement club members following the morning spent at The Bombay Saphire gin experiance. Did not know what to expect, however everything was well organised and the overall view was that the Beach Arms did a great job as many commented that it was the best carvery they had had in a long time. Meat was tender and veg was cooked well and not mushy or stewed. Desserts were well presented and tasty. Thank you Pauline and your team for making it happen.

Food was ok . Didn't get our pigs in blankets until we had to ask again . Then got them and was too late . Only one portion instead of 2 and burnt. Not sure why you aren't allowed a tab so you can use your discount on your whole meal . And the the carvery is more expensive than the menu says

Both my mum and husband had a lovely carvery with lots of choice of veg. I have a dairy allergy and the staff went the extra mile to make sure my food was safe and tasty. Definitely recommend a visit here

Avoid, The place was dirty tables and walls and chairs are filthy, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone the food selection was terrible, only about 8 items to choose from which taste like they were cooked in oil stale oil, the coffee wasnt hot, there was no milk and no staff around to fill it up, other customers where complaining among each other, the bar staff told us to go choose a table but didn't explain we needed to pay at the bar and receive a ticket to get food, hopefully the food and safety agency come in and close this place down, the food rating must be zero

just had an amazing breakfast at the the beach arms. the tea coffee and toast, sausage and eggs were all cooked how we like them for the price i cant fault them the selection was really good and all fresh, we will be back again next time we are in the area could even try a lunch which looked amazing on the menu , staff were all lovely plenty of parking 10/10

Really nice place! Great food doesn't matter what you have its lovely!. helpful service. It's a well run place and its a very well priced eating and drinking venue that your money goes a long way in.Plus the chocolate fudge cake is in my opinion the most beautiful thing you will ever eat! Staff are nice and friendly! Highly recommended!

I recently visited The Beech Arms and had a great experience. The food was delicious, especially the carvery, and the service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was welcoming and we enjoyed our time there. I would definitely recommend it.

Service and food gone downhill not as good as used to be sadly

Stayed here while working in the area. Decent size room, clean and tidy but needing a little redecorating. Breakfast was good. Staff were friendly and polite.

We ordered the traditional carvery and we ordered extra pigs and blanket which never came. It’s a family kids pub, but they were kids there on their iPads and the noises were quite loud and parents didn’t care. The tables were sticky. We won’t be returning again.

Rhys the man who welcomed us in was great, very friendly and hardworking. The food was mediocre the tables and chairs where grubby but what really concerned me was the boy cleaning the tables who saw ice cream dropped on the floor so used the cloth to wipe it up but then continued to use this same dirty dry cloth to wipe the ice cream trays and tables for people to eat. Cleanliness needs improvement.

We came for the first time on a Sunday and I must say it was excellent, the food was fresh and the staff were very friendly. The lady that served us when we came in Michelle was very friendly and helpful as I’m visually impaired. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Food was nice mostly I was under the impression that the gammon eggs and chips were going to be a gammon steak so was reasonably disappointed when it came out I also don't like egg so asked if I could take the egg of and replace with a few more chips which I got told no from the chef then when it came out they not only said gammon with extra chips but they also didn't serve me peas with it, the gammon was off cuts from the carvery and when I asked the staff about the peas I got weird looks from them , following this we all felt the staff let it all down as they didn't really feel aprotable and we booked a table then got told to sit wherever which is fine but then we had no one come to us and tell us if we needed to go up and order bar or if they would come take our order baring in mind there may have been only 2 or 3 other tables that were being used by guests the others I were with food was nice and looked really good I was very disappointed in my gammon but maybe they need to be more clear on the menu , another thing that we didn't understand and we have been many times and have always been able to have a tab but were told they don't do tabs any more to which was very disappointing as we had a 25% off voucher to use and wernt able to use it we felt pressured to pay then and there , I wish I got something different as it would have made it a bit nicer but can't change it now might be back in the future hope the staff will be more aprotable next time

Food was very poor, not hot at all. Looked like tinned carrots not fresh. Cauliflower cheese was bland and not cheesey and roast potatoes were Pale and not crisoty at all. It and toilets were dreadful. No soap 1 hand dryer and smelt

The service I found was great , the chap at the carvery ( brown haired chap) was lovely and very informative. Our waitress was polite and friendly can’t fault the service . Sadly it’s let down by the food, the potatoes tasted like they have been sat out for Fair while ( to be fair the is to be expected in carvery setting ) but these were truly awful the veg was hard and dry but gravy was fresh. I had a vegetarian meal and I found the potatoes and veg dry and hard also the Yorkshire was very well done but the meat substitute was ok. My partner had the meat and found it horrendous, so horrendous in-fact he threw up in your car park. We didn’t bring it to your attention at the time as to be frank we just wanted to leave because he felt awful. I don’t think we will be back unless the food gets and improvement which is a shame as you’ve a great team there ! Please bring the food up to standard as we live nearby and would love to enjoy a meal there :(

The carvery food was appalling. I have now visited and ate the carvery 4 times in a row and the food was inedible. The beef is so chewy it is impossible to swallow. What looks OK on the plate, isn't. Your teeth are unable to penetrate the sinue? Elastin? . I requested a change of meat, had turkey, texture was fine but absolutely no flavour. The vegetables were hard and dried out or boiled within an inch of thir life. Cauliflower cheese: no taste of cheese, multi coloured peas: sage green, light brown, or dried out. Mash thick and hard, roasts tasteless. Everything was either watery and tasteless or hard, dried out. Total and utter discrace

I liked the food paid for 2 breakfast at 5.99 each paid for 2 refills of coffee and tea at 2.49 each I make this £16.96 but I was charged 18.98 I didn’t realise until I left the building, safe to say I’m not very happy at all for being over charged we had no added extras either

Cheap full breakfast value for money

This place has its good days and bad days. Clearly, today was bad. It's slowly going downhill Came today with family paid just under £50, The food itself was shocking today it was old, bearly hot, roast potatoes were stale, green beans were dry, stuffing was like a brick, mash was bland, peas were hard then as soon as we sat down they started bringing out new fresh food rather annoyed at this. Had a server asked if everything was okay, and we stated our problems, but nothing was done about it. We won't be coming back to this place any time soon!!!!!

The service was appalling, there was a specific young waiter who seems as though he could not care less about me or my tables issues, he was big, brunette, had a repulsive sweat patch on back, cast on his right hand and fluff above his lip that I believe was supposed to be a moustache.The normal food off the menu was okay, although my friend and I only had the burgers as a main and they were rather lovely and I would suggest, however I wouldn’t suggest you even go here in the first place, but my other friends had the Sunday Carvery and had nothing good to say about it other than the food was horrific. The service needs some major improvement as does the carvery but I suppose everything else was reasonably enjoyable.

First time attending these facilities. friendly staff. used carvery for Sunday dinner. all food freshly cooked and presented well. Good selection of meats and vegetables to choose from, with small, medium or large portion options available.

We traveled around southern England for 6 days and stayed in 6 hotels. This hotel was by far the best of them. Unbeaten in terms of value for money. There was no reason to go into town in the evening to look for a nice pub. The rooms were of a very high standard (by English standards): relatively large and the bathroom even had a single-lever mixer and real tiles!! The staff was very friendly and cheerful. Service was good. The food in the atmospheric pub was delicious and sumptuous. The prices for rooms and food were very reasonable. Lots of free parking spaces are available. There is only a deduction for the cleanliness of the dishes and cutlery. The sticky tables are also probably intended to discourage guests from going home too early...but this issue has followed us all over the south of England. Nobody reacts offended when you bring it up and it is immediately wiped away. Conclusion: highly recommended!!

One of the few places in the city where you can really enjoy delicious food and atmosphere. Always friendly staff will cheer you up and you will definitely want to come back to this cozy place.

Came for first time ,carvery was looking really good but we did fancy some pizzas as we saw some come out to the table next to us and, we went and ask , Adrian was helpful and he make out amazing pizzas , we will come back

We recently found this Stonehouse after visiting one in the past, we have been on a few occasions and today was our best visit. Irena delivered great friendly service and was working really hard to keep everyone happy we were very impressed, I would also recommend the carvery calzone to anyone who hasn't tried it, I haven't had one disappoint yet!

I popped in first thing just for a coffee and was served by the lovely Nathan. Despite not ordering any food I was treated with the same fabulous service as everyone else. Would definitely come back.

Spent one night and had dinner and breakfast. The hotel and rooms are a little tired but for the price you pay it’s great value. The staff and service weee excellent. We would be happy to return.

Went tonight for early dinner , it was a really good deal with pizzas £5 , it was amazing , we asked to the Chef call Adrian , he was really nice and helpful when my family wanted to choose for a pudding
