Queen Anne in Bury

Visited today with a group of walkers, 17 of us, staff, venue, cleanliness, food, couldn't fault anything, full 5 stars from me. Well worth the visit, will use again definitely 👍

Lovely local pub, all the staff are very welcoming and friendly. The Landladies Mary & Lesley are wonderful. They have a quiz night on a Thursday with DJ Dave, which is a must ! The whole vibe of the pub is while hearted & homely, whether it's a quick drink after work or an evening meal with friends and family. This is the place you want to come to. Would we come here again ? Most definitely, yes, we would !!

Lovely Sunday lunch. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Easy to park and lovely inviting decor. Would definitely recommend for cost. The pudding menu looked amazing shame I just couldn't fit in.

Not been here for years was very impressed Wen we had seen how much it had been done up very nice . unfortunately if u don't want dogs near u while u are eating u only have a small amount of space that doesn't have a dog in it .there's more space for dogs than those who dont to sit with a dog . I had a Sunday roast beef was very dry and veggies were like they were scooped up out of the bottom of a pan not.nice . Drinks over priced won't be going again.

Wonderful food & great value for money

Enjoyed plate meat pie as always, chips good but they have been better in the past. Other people had Sunday roast but roast potatoes were not good and were left, again they are usually really good so not sure why it was a bad for potatoes? Update since this review 9 month ago: we have been today and the hand cut chips have been amazing since this last review. Plate mince meat pie and gravy always brilliant. Food always tastes fresh. Staff are amazing as always. Thank you

The staff look after their customers really well here at The Queen Anne. We had another family gathering with lunch for 14 family members. We like to order our food at the bar and pay for it at the same time, so we don’t have all the bother at the end of the meal as to who owes what! The staff don’t mind us doing this and it puts us at ease as a family. However you can pay at the end no problem. Mary & Lesley have trained their staff well as they are proud to be part of the team. The food is always good here, we have never had a problem. The vegetarian option was absolutely delicious and I didn’t want it to end! It was on the specials board. My brother had a mixed grill which he devoured and it was huge! My sister had a gluten free meal and desert too which she was raving about! We always feel at ease here, it’s like coming home to see family and your mother has cooked. That’s how we feel about the food, the staff, & the owners! Well done again for giving us a great afternoon.

It's a nice place to spend time with your friends . We had a great evening and we will be back soon.

Me and my girlfriend’s dining experience at the Queen Anne was wonderful. From the moment we entered, the welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff (I think our waitress’ name was Shay if I remember correctly) made us feel right at home. The menu offered a lovely range of dishes, each made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Every bite was bursting with flavour, and I can’t wait to go back to explore more of their scrumptious creations. Highly recommended!

I popped in today for a late lunch and I have to say the food was Incredible well presented and delivered I had the prawn cocktail which was superb and then the fish and chips which may I say was next level well done to the kitchen team which I belive were young but very talented

Nice local pub with good drinks and good outdoor section, with lots of tables, pizza section, playground and some tables under cover. Small car park. Recommended.

Good main courses. Desserts were a bit steep for what you get but there's a good range on the menu.

Ordered a tuna sandwich on brown bread @ £6.50 was presented with a white bread sandwich that I could have bought at a local supermarket for £2.50 plus a side of £2.95 fries which consisted of smallest bowl of fries ever seen. Oh but there was a teaspoon of coleslaw and 1 lettuce leaf and a slice of tomato on the side. Perhaps that's why the price was so extortionate. WORST £9.45 I have ever spent. I would like to say it was served with a smile ,but anyone who has been in here knows that isn't the case

Good value pub food, friendly staff (mostly - at least polite anyway) in a traditional pub setting. Outdoor area and covered area with big TV for noisy sports days but you can avoid it if that's not your thing.

Lovely pub.starter was lovely had abit of a problem with my gammon main but the waiter soon sorted that out staff was excellent

This is my local pub and my dog’s favourite. There’s a range of vegan options for me and he gets a fuss and treats from the staff.

Food and service were very good, it was after the lunchtime trade so the pub was quiet.

Terrible service the chicken was under cooked no hot running water in the gents toilet and when went to our vehicle there was a dead rat in the car park

New chef, amazing food. Top restaurant standard. I had the Chicken and Nduja Risotto. Sooo good. The Ploughman's Lunch was more like his evening meal. Excellent.

Surprisingly nice pub. Lovely food, nice bar staff, nice atmosphere. As someone who doesn't often go in pubs as I don't drink,I would come back here for food or coffee.

Great food and service, my whole meal was really good but the chips in particular were a standout.

Turned up very late hoping to have a quick pint on the way home ( 20 mins before closing) expecting to hear that they're closing up and it's too late. Didn't expect to be told to f off by a drunk barmaid with aggressive dog in tow.

Went here for Mothers Day, great food & service. Really nice outside layout, which I guess would be amazing in summer.

Took my mum and girlfriend for Mother’s Day. It was a set menu that was quite varied and covered most people’s preferences. On arrival the greeting was warm we was taken to our table and drinks order was sorted quickly. We checked the menu and because were not massive eaters we chose one course with the option of dessert later. My mum ordered the salmon with cheese sauce fresh veg and potato’s my girl friend the trio of meats roast dinner and me the cheese leek and spring onion pie. The food was cooked wonderfully, the veg with bite the salmon perfectly cooked the roast was full of flavour and my cheese pie was perfect the chips served alongside were home cooked crispy on outside and fluffy on inside. My mum chose a cherry pie dessert and as with all the food she loved it and so did my partner 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. All food cooked perfectly was piping hot and the service was second to none. Well done the Queen Anne I couldn’t recommend you enough thanks for a lovely Mother’s Day

Awful experience waited 45 minutes for our meal when it arrived mine was the wrong order and sent it back l had lost my appetite by now will not be going back

The restaurant is to one end of the pub it has table clothes and there's no music so customers can chat and hear one an other. The food is home made to order and 3 out if 3 times has been excellent. Still excellent food theres so much undercover outside spaces it's been updated to a very high Standard Leslie and Mary have worked wonders with the original old village pub. Love this place it's so welcoming and so comfortable. 10 out of 10.

Perfect Sunday lunch with a lovely atmosphere. Although we hadn't booked, a table was organised for us on a very busy day. I would highly recommend as everything was perfect from the staff to the food.

Visited on Sunday 28th January for a family celebration, 8 adults and 1 dog. Service was great, staff friendly and helpful. Food was excellent, starters, mains and dessert’s. We were all really pleased with the food and drinks. Great atmosphere. Will definitely be back again

Nice pub for a beer food looked OK to

I attended this venue for a family gathering as in the past it has been ok. This time, it was very different. We were asked to pre-order food as there were quite a few of us, including children. That was done several days before attending. On arrival, the room was ready for us. There was no where to hang coats, which was annoying, which left it messy. Food: It was arranged for the kids' mains to come out first, then the adults starts to follow. That was not what happened. Instead, it was kids' mains, adult mains, kids' deserts, adults starts, adult desert. In total, we asked for the food to come out at 5 pm, and in reality, it started coming out at 6.30pm for the very iritated kid's and the last lot came out at 8pm. After all the waiting, the food was very disappointing and not as described on the menu. A relative had king prawns, and he said they were inedible due to the amount of oil they were sitting in. Staffing was terrible, with no explanation as to why everything was running so far behind, not a friendly smile to be seen by anyone working there. Food tasted microwaved and rushed, fair to say I won't be returning.

Had a family Christmas Eve dinner here. Lovely home cooked food - the best cheese and onion pie! Friendly service and great atmosphere. Will definitely be back

Truly awful service and food. Table reserved for 1.00pm. We arrived early but waited for 30 minutes to order and a further hour for the main course. Most of us ordered Christmas lunch, portions all over the place, some with 4 roast potatoes, some with one, some with hardly any veg, some with no stuffing. We had to ask for more, and complained. At no point was there an apology for the quality of the food or the delay. We finished the main course at which point the waitress told us we would have to vacate the table because it was booked again for 3.00. She did not seem to understand our frustration that : 1. We had not been told when booking that we would have to vacate at 3.00 W. We were only still there because it had taken them an hour and a half to serve us 3. We were not even offered the chance to order a dessert because they wanted the table. Again, no hint of an apology. Throughout, the staff appeared unaware/unconcerned about anything that was going on. Finally, to add insult to injury we were given discount cards for future visits!! Never again!

Food and atmosphere great, busy because of the coming up of Xmas. Their menu is very extensive four sheets .

What a gem of a place. Lovely menu, great food and well kept beer. Brilliant and friendly staff, nothing too much trouble for them.

It's a dog friendly pub so we meet friends there who have a dog. It's a nice pub and the staff are helpful and pleasant but the food for the secound time of eating there was poor at the very best. Would recommend going to meet up for a drink, but not the food. Won't be going again sorry to say.

Bland, cold, tasteless food, we have been many times before and this was the 1st time we brought extended family. None of us enjoyed the meal. So disappointed as the food was just awful this time

Upmarket pub and grub with nicer customers than most

I’m gutted as I love this place but the food has slowly been declining & tonight was a low, service was lacking too ☹️ Pizzas are their saviour

Surprisingly disappointed. Have had good meals here in the past but recently, especially today the food and service have been poor. Four of us dined and didn't eat together. Two starters came then the other came 10 minutes later. Sausages where cremated, mash and gravy cold , peppercorn sauce in the sizzler was oily and bland. Ham dinner was below usual standards. Yorkshire pudding was like a pummy stone. We enjoy coming here but will start going elsewhere if it doesn't pick back up again.

Recommended by friend. Not disappointed. Nice welcome from landlady and young lady that served us. We traveled up from Manchester eye hospital and as my husband could not see due to eye drops decided on Queen Ann near home. Meal was served on hot plates which was a nice change from other places. Really excellent service and same of food. Will be going again. Well done. Chips were not frozen they were fresh and the jacket potato was hot right through. Sea bass my husband is still raving about it. ✅✅👍

Great place to kick back, relax and have your evening meal, with a drink of course.

Called in yesterday for afternoon meal. The cheese and onion pie was as good as ever, but they didn't come with hand cut chips but frozen chips, which was a massive let down as the hand cut chips were amazing. I noticed on the website that the menu hadn't been updated as the hand cut chips were still on the online menu, also the priced hadn't been updated either. The three stars is only for the frozen chips, as the rest of the meal was excellent quality. I will phone in advance next time just in case the hand cut chips are back on the menu, if not we will find an alternative location.

Popped in with my family late Saturday afternoon, never been before, I last knew this place as the "Teacher’s pub" when I was at Unsworth school and they'd pop in at lunch and after school. Fresh modern interior and great covered and uncovered outdoor spaces and great for the British summer with the occasional downpour. An ale, single gin and a Guinness came to around £15.55 which is about fair. Both the Thwates Gold and IPA were good. Service was friendly but a little slow, when about to start the busy period there should be more than two staff on the bar, one was sorting drinks out for all the tables leaving just one to serve those at the bar. Food was "good enough" reasonably priced but no more than just pub fare, for example the Trio of sausages and mash were not the highest quality sausages and the battered fish was tasty but the batter a little hard because it had been cooked for a little too long. Given the number of people coming in and there for an afternoon or evening, enough people enjoy the Queen Anne far more than my first experience.

Nice place just the beer needs to be kept better. If you like bottled beer, lager or wine you will be fine

Lovely Mushroom Stroganoff (half chips/rice) and Berry crumble, will definitely be returning to try the new Pizza shack at the back....looks really good, a nice new edition to the pub.

Up to last Saturday we have had great meals for over 20 yrs but I brought my nephew & wife there as a treat, I take all the family who come to visit for a meal out, her vegan meal was delicious but my meal & nephew's was so cold & greasy, the Yorkshire puddings were like a lump of coal there were so burned, I didn't say anything & that was a mistake, I was so disappointed it will be the last time I will take anyone there, it was very busy there was only 2 staff on before an other lady arrived to help & I appreciate that but the meal was dreadful & will not recommend to anyone.

An Italian gourmet evening. The latest in a series of speciality food experiences. 5 courses, £25.00 pp Amazing food and service in a welcoming environment. The next one is Spanish cuisine in August. Highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ate here recently, first time back having sadly moved from the area 5 years ago. Food was excellent and very good value for money. Loveliest gammon I’ve ever had. The roast dinner was excellent and plentiful as was all the meals in our party of 14. All served at the same Time and piping hot. Well done and thoroughly recommend a visit here.

Had Buffet menu yesterday for my daughter’s 30th birthday . The food and service was outstanding. All the food home made, chicken curry and rice, nanbread, chutnies, chicken gougons, coleslaw and pate delicious. Several remarked best coleslaw they had ever tasted. All family enjoyed it and weather brilliant too to have it outside. Would highly recommend and thanks to Mary and all the staff for making it a special day for us. Jacqueline Coleman

I'm adjusting my 5 star review to a 2 star. Went as a party of 12 on Sunday, most main meals ok apart from 2 meals that were the signature roast beef dinner. The beef was dreadful, passed my comments to both a server and another lady but had no come back whatsoever, no apology, no acknowledgment at all actually. Shame as its always been such a nice roast beef dinner on previous visits. Won't be going back again for sure.

Excellent,triple chips a little iffy but once pointed out they were changed no problem,beer excellent will be going again.

My Local Pub great atmosphere great staff great food especially the Curry was excellent on a special occasion.

I visited tonight with my daughter son in law and granddaughter and we’re un sure weather to go here to eat or the local Joseph jolt food house and I’m so glad we chose her my Cajun chicken kebabs were cooked how I requested them (well done) my daughter n son-in law stake were tasty n cooked to perfection I’d recommend here for any one food is quality n well priced a the front of house were atantive and carring

This is a mixed review as my cheese and onion pie was tasty but my partner had the roast beef dinner and he said the beef was like rubber and very chewy and the vegetables were either too hard (potatoes, swede) or like mush (carrot etc) he left most of it and it wasn't cheap. The price for a small cheese and onion pie and chips is expensive. I've seen other reviews where the meat is tough. The staff were pleasant but waiting times were quite long. The pub/restaurant had a nice feel to the place and decor was nice.

Just excellent. Staff were so friendly and helpful. The food couldn't be faulted and the service was spot on. A lovely dog friendly pub which I'll most certainly visit again.

We booked the wake for my Gran’s funeral and I couldn’t fault a thing. The menu was by far the best selection of hot and cold food and the best value of any places we looked at and the service was superb. Many people complimented the food and the meat & potato pie is homemade which is a rare find these days. Thank you to Mary & her team for making a very difficult day easier.

Went for Sunday lunch, was busy but staff still managed to squeeze us in. Placed order but didn't print in the kitchen, unfortunately had to wait over an hr for food, but when it arrived it was delicious and worth the wait. Dog friendly also which is great.

Rubbish customer service, served a pint of strong bow darkfruits twice and it was flat, manager tipped out a quarter and topped it up and sent it back without a word of apology. Was still flat, ended up leaving flat pint in bar as nobody...

Took over hour and half to get sandwiches as forgot to press button and send it through even those others all served hot food while I waiting Need to work on it

Staff good, we didn't rate the food though. Grandson chicken strips smelt like been cooked in with fish. Portion size are not good. £18 for steak. Never seen such a small piece for the price. 11 chips with pie. Peas where watery, What was supposed...

Although this was the week before Christmas and busy, the staff were attentive and friendly. The restaurant was clean and there was good access and car parking. The food was amazing, and also catered for smaller appetites with a choice of portion size on some...

Unfortunately attending a wake at the Queen Anne. They provided a good range of hot and cold food options. They were also busy with Xmas parties and quiz night. But always there to help. They even made food for my daughter and 2 grandchildren who arrived later after the funeral party. Nothing was too much trouble. I can definitely recommend the Queen Anne pub and their staff
