Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch out there with a friend. Beautiful food and very attentive service. Can thoroughly recommend it.

We thought we'd go somewhere we've not been before. So after looking at reviews I thought I'd try it. It was my mums 83rd birthday meal treat from me, nothing was to much, changing sauce to gravy for my mum. It didn't disappoint. Service was great and good was hot, fresh n tasty. We will be back!

Very good place to eat especially mid afternoons good quality food. Also varied menu. Staff very attentive. Clean and comfortable. No complaints.

Great meal on Mother's Day with my daughter. We both had the Sunday roast, she had the lamb shank (for an additional £4.95) & I chose the beef which was absolutely delicious and actually tasted like genuine roast beef rather than the thin tasteless slices you often get at other places. Despite being extremely busy, all the staff were extremely attentive, friendly and served us quickly. A nice touch was the little box of Guylian chocolates & gift tag wishing me a Happy Mother's Day from the Duckworth Arms. The only slight disappointment was the behaviour of the people on the table next to us who were extremely loud, shouting from one end of a long table to the other, seemingly oblivious to the others around them. Of course, this was no reflection on the Duckworth Arms itself which I would highly recommend. We shall definitely be returning again. Thanks!

A bit loud. I had to turn my hearing aids to the restaurant setting which cuts out the background chatter but that is the atmosphere. Food was brilliant. We went out for an ‘English’ and were not disappointed… apart from my wife who wanted something on the ‘specials’ menu only to be told they don’t have it… on a busy Saturday! Service was immediate and great.

This was a first for me , taking my new puppy to a pub. I thought it could be stressful but it was completely the opposite and we had a great time !

We didnt have much while we were there, but what we had was great. Nice pint and that house burger was super tasty 👌👍

The actual place and staff are really nice but the food did disappoint a bit. I ordered the duck breast main and at £20 I was expecting something pretty sizeable. It was extremely small unfortunately and goes to show why steaks have to show a weight. I'm not sure if they had cut a breast down or managed to source some really small ones but it was much smaller than even a chicken breast even though a duck breast is even larger. I don't mind paying inflated prices but when they are decreasing sizes of things as well it's a bit much. It was also a bit overcooked but I appreciate not everyone wants it pink. My son had the 'basket of chicken' which was actually just two pieces not much bigger than a large nugget and not indeed a basket. I wouldn't go back based on this, I find it really quite annoying when places start putting prices up and decreasing portions. Their should have been twice as much chicken at least on the kids meal, which we have had many other places, quite shameful.

I ordered fish with saute potatoes - while the fish was okay the potatoes were inedible and I could not eat them. It came with a tiny dish of peas that were likewise inedible. But what irked me the most was the starter at 9 pounds with two tiny duck wraps and dried up rocket leaves. We were a party of three and the other 2 did not seem to mind but I am a lot older than my guests and I expect to be able to eat what I pay for. I did not complain or send the food back because if customers are so undervalued at this place I fear what they may have sent me back.

Came for Sunday lunch here. Was AMAZING. I had vegetarian which was a lentil, butternut squash and almond wellington - very very nice! Also nice to be different from a nut roast. The rest of the family shared the platters, 2 platters for 4 people but this could definitely feed more! All said we thought it was the best roast we’d ever had.

Good food served promptly and hot. Very friendly staff. A must try venue.

We ordered from the super club great value for 2 courses , the sea bass was to die for and the beef was tender and tasty, the service was spot and and the staff were friendly, we even ordered from the dog menu as the pub is dog friendly, we left an item on the table of great value and we were rung immediately to let us know , thank you for a great evening we will be back 👍

Called in for e evening meal and drink with Seth our young Yorkiepoo. We were served by Amy and her colleague both very courteous and the meal from the supper club was really nice and of sufficient quantity and of good quality. Thank you chef! Amy and colleague we will be back. We will be back.

Called in for a bite to eat, glad we did superb. Had the Sunday lunch and wow massive portion and delicious. Staff lovely and attentive with a good selection of draught beers, wines and spirits. Will be back!

Had steak and ale pie don’t know what the ale it tasted like vinegar and my pie pastry had been done in a microwave. It was soggy.Didn’t come in a pot with a lid like I expected and chips could have done with 5 more minutes they were hard in the middle wasn’t worth the price. Very very disappointed will not be eating here again, it’s just not the same.

I love this place :) the food is always excellent, I recommend the tower burger! Staff are amazing and welcoming, so friendly. You never feel uncomfortable here! Such a warm environment. Julie is wonderful and chatty and it’s like talking to a friend, Jack is great and welcoming, and the rest of the staff are lovely and welcoming too! Definitely recommend here whether you’re on your own or with your family and friends! x

Had the Sunday lunch platter, good value and really tasty food. Plenty of veg and 9 slices of meat, 3 beef, 3 turkey and 3 gammon. Only down side was the price of the drinks, £6:45 for a pint of Guinness, expect these prices in your town centre not your local pub.

Can not fault the food and friendly staff here. We came as a group of 6 the food was delicious and full compliments to the kitchen staff, we each had different dishes and everyone was more than pleased with the food. Julie's team were very diligent waiting for everyone to finish and always being warm and friendly, can't wait to come back soon.

Visited at lunchtime food was lovely and one member of staff was brilliant. However no greeting on entry no offer of a menu no friendly atmosphere at all. One waiter was literally serving everyone's food 2 other members of staff stood chatting. It wasn't busy but we waited 10 minutes for a coffee. Very badly managed.

First visit to the Duckworth Arms, which didn't disappoint. Staff were friendly and accommodating, the pub clean and well presented. More so was the food, not many places cook burgers "properly" but my tower burger was nailed. Lovely caramelisation on the outside and succulent meat juices oozing from the centre, great quality meat also. The cheese pie was equally as good, plus great portion size and value. Definitely recommend

Food is fantastic, amazing amount of steak in the pies! Very pleased with the food and price, however staff were very, very slow - had to chase to get our bill at one point. We experienced very slow service inbetween the lunch and dinner lull too, so not a lot of excuse for it. With a bit more training, this could be great.

Really good food. Great service . Pate was delicious but either more toast or less pate ! Gammon was cooked superbly well and with chips that are cooked proper too

Excellent food... cheese pie pretty much perfect and lovely crispy chips. Wheelchair access could be improved upon, you can get in but have to navigate a tight corner and 3 doors. It's a bad idea to have a picnic bench near the ramp access too. Great service, they were really busy but it didn't affect how well we were looked after at all

The food was very good and fairly priced , however service was poor. We were a party of 16 inc children and were booked in for 7pm. Our orders weren't taken for a while eventually at about 8 pm we had to go and ask where our starters were all the children in our party were very hungry, we had to get them some crisps. The main course seemed to take a while to arrive as well. The drinks glasses on the table weren't taken away when empty. However when the food did eventually arrive it was very good and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Would i go again? Not sure , possibility would.

Booked online easily and managed to change the number of guests the day before the booking. Requested space for a pram which was provided. Service and food was excellent in all respects. Highly recommend and looking forward to visiting again soon.

I cant express tonight how good their Sunday roast was,we had the turkey. Huge portions...it was the best we have had in a long while and it was so busy too. Well done guys

Came here on a Saturday, so expected it to be busier than a normal day, but was very disappointed with the level and speed of service, especially front of house. Instead of ordering deserts after already being here for 90 mins (just 5 mains, no starters), we simply gave in and asked for the bill. This also took another 20 mins to arrive. On the other hand, the food was tasty and of the quality we expected to pay, however, it could’ve been slightly warmer (this again may have been due to the speed and attentiveness of the service). It was a good experience overall in a nice surrounding despite the issues with our service. We will be happy to visit again in the near future to see if this was just a one-off!

Family bereavement visit for wake buffet was fabulous and service was excellent well worth a visit for a meal and price for drinks wasn't to bad

1st time we have been for 20years.we could not fault the service and the food. So much so we are going to book our church Christmas meal

Very disappointing lunch. The falafel were over cooked and the main of 2 tiny fishcakes was poor for the price and again over cooked. My friend had the pate starter and it was unpalatable and left it. Would not recommend.

No jacket potato's and over priced. Waited ages to be served.

Came here for my birthday lunch with my Husband, the food delicious and service excellent, lovely relaxed atmosphere will definitely visit here again.

We usually go for Sunday lunch which is amazing anyway we went for an evening meal last night. Varied menu, good pub grub, and excellent service. Definitely recommend.

13/10/2024 I’m not going to apologize for this review. I just hope the chef takes note. Yes it was busy, possibly why service was very slow. Pleasant serving staff, but non looked very happy! Orders as follows 2 small bottles of Prosecco £16 ! Chicken pate with salad., OK garnish. Salad was soft and rubbery…..not crisp. Soup…ok Roasted Ham shank with mint sauce. Shank was not roasted, and no sign of mint sauce? Shank possibly bought from supermarket. veg seems like it had been shown some hot water, roast spuds, tough! And a massive Yorkshire pud possibly to impress…..it did not. Three meat meal, turkey/chicken? dry. . Beef like shoe soles, ham mostly fat. Roast spuds tough, veg as above. Gravy not bad! One pint of cloudy beer, taken back to bar………new pint given……..still cloudy. Take note Willie Lees.!!!!!!!! £72.60 Never again We feel robbed, but wiser.

I have eaten in a lot of pubs that advertise their famous cheese pie, unfortunately they all exaggerate, until now! Not only was the food exceptional but the service, the atmosphere and the cleanliness were first class, we will be back very soon.

Warm friendly greeting. We went on a Tuesday night so not busy. Service was prompt. Main courses were generally good but my wife had the fish pie and it was very runny inside, hardly any chunks of fish so bit disappointing since our last visit a few months before the renovation.

We love to visit The Duckworth because we know we’re going to get a warm welcome, great food and drink and all in lovely surroundings.

Steadily getting worse. Tonight was a washout - we booked for 7, and arrived to a car park that was more than full (4 cars just waiting for spaces), and with just one disabled space in total. We had booked a wheelchair user in our small party and with nowhere to park nearby we simply turned around and left. Thats the problem if you’re disabled and with no spaces - you can’t walk from anywhere else. So meal for 3 and a budget of £200 (and our only night out in. 3 months) just turned round and left - but with your restaurant now seeming to have more tables than spaces, I guess that’ll happen a lot. Our party leader popped in to explain, but no one really cared. Just shrugged and said. ‘Sorry’ in that ‘not sorry’ way people have…. I don’t suppose it’s the end of the world. The service last time was actively surly so I think we’ll just go elsewhere from now. After all, it’s not like there’s no choice….

The food was okay but the service was extremely poor and the wait for food completely excessive. Booked in for a party of 7 (3 kids). 3 starters were ordered and arrived fairly promptly but in total wait for the main course was an hour and a half. Staff member kept assuring us it was ‘currently being plated’ and would be ‘30 seconds’. Despite this, it was another 25 minutes and had to be chased a final time for at least the kids food to be served. Response from staff was ‘well you did have starters’. Kids were still left to be served last and not even an apology from staff. Have been going for years but doubt we will be back.

We booked for 10 people for lunch on a Saturday. The welcome was warm and genuine and we were taken to the table, given menus and drinks the drinks order was taken. The choice was broad and prices reasonable. The food came within 15 to 20 minutes (we only had mains and small plates) which was unexpected as most places struggle when there are more than four of you. I had the cheese pie, but the fish and chips, gammon, cob salad looked amazing. The portions were generous and only one person could fit in a desert. We had coffees and never felt rushed. We were served by a lovely waitress called Julie who really enhanced the experience. I would highly recommend the Duckworth Arms for both the food and the drinks and will be going back very soon as I want to try so many other things on the menu.

Had a lovely meal of prawn & Marie rose sandwich and fries with a friend of mine. The service was excellent. The background music was a nice touch without it being too loud to have a conversation. It was lovely to see that dogs are welcome and they even have their own menu. I would love to bring my dog but unfortunately he's not very sociable

Great food good service at reasonable prices

Love the new look, a lot brighter. Great food, great views and lovely atmosphere. Good value for money. A few reviews talk about their wait, I would rather wait and have great food than be served quick with low standard food. They obviously have busy times because they are very good. We have been many times and leave very happy. We will be visiting again soon.

It's a lovely pub. Where my friends and I meet. However it was a Saturday lunchtime. The menu prices have gone up again! My smoked haddock Risotto Wasn't particularly hot. I enjoyed my soup and my coffee and mini pudding. No calories on the menu either. It was a bit disappointing 😞

Went for lunch last week and would like to compliment the chef on the excellent herb crusted fillet of chalk stream trout which was cooked to perfection. I found the piped music too intrusive hence the one mark deduction.

3 of us booked in for Sunday dinner. Me and my daughter had the Sunday sharer, which was amazing. Far too much food if anything as we couldn’t finish it off. Husband had the gammon, which again was lovely but he did say the chips were very bland. Only downside was how long the wait was, we were there for an hour before getting any food. It would be better if the wait time was communicated when seated, as the food is worth the wait.

Went on A Bank Holiday Sunday. Staffing was low and advised it was at least a 45 minute wait for food and we ordered off the specials menu. I did leave and ended up in Burger King. 24/8/24 - We gave it a fairer run. The better half had the battered fish & chips I had the mixed grill. She was not overly impressed with the fish as the peas were a bit cool. The tarter sauce was bland tasting as well. The fish and the chips were hot, good beer batter on fish. I ordered my meat well done which may not have been passed to kitchen. While tasty my beef was pink on inside which is not well done. Still a ways to go but it is a lovely place in the weather.

Our meal this lunchtime was delicious. It's a long time since we visited the Duckworth Arms and it had been refurbished to a very high standard. We won't leave it so long next time

Food was amazing and well worth the price!! We went for the light lunch menu of 3 courses and you get plenty for the price. Certainly not small portions. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended!

We have the sharing Sunday lunch enough for 4 people let alone 2 food is delicious . All staff are attentive . The food is delicious 3 types of meats plus vegetables

We visited last night. We had a lovely meal. Love the new decor. The staff were lovely and really helpful. I had the the smoked haddock risotto, it was beautiful, just gutted my egg wasn't runny. 3 people had the steak pie, which massive and really good. One had the cheese pie, which looked lovely, no potato, perfect. And a ceaser salad.. all in all a good meal.

Great pub food and service. My daughter is coeliac and can't have gluten such as wheat. There was a fantastic range of gluten free options including 'sticky toffee pudding' her favourite!

21 of in a family party. Didn't pre-order and with a full restaurant all our food came out altogether and hot. Food was tasty, fab value for money with the 2&3 course weekday special is well worth it.

The service was efficient and friendly. The food was hot (when it was meant to be!) and beautifully cooked. We will go again. There is quite a big car park - just one space for disabled I think.

Menue changed, no facility for small meals except for one, which was fish and chips?We had gone for the Sunday roast dinner which I had, lady partner could only face the small fish chip's meal, which looked large when placed on the table.We have visited this pub regular since 1999.After this menue change, no more,lot's of oldies like us eat less, hence our preference for smaller meal portions. Julie was exceptional with an unsettled toddler, nothing was too much trouble, used her “nanna experience” to provide distraction and settle baby. Food was plentiful and delicious, fantastic refurb, cosy relax atmosphere.

I’ve always loved the Duckworth arms, but haven’t been for a while, until tonight. The food is excellent,, and the prices are more than fair. However the wait time is horrendous from being seated it took 45 minutes for our starters to arrive and on clearing them away it took another 50 minutes for our mains to appear. On questioning a member of staff over the delay I was rudely informed they were fully booked and busy… unfortunately the amount of empty tables made this a laughable excuse. Yes the food is good but not good enough to warrant the wait times

Pity, this was one of our favourite go to pub lunch. Sadly it's not anymore sorry to say, we both had the trout which came, we couldn't believe what we saw there where a small bit of fish 5 small potatoes and cooked spinach which was about 4 leaves and the wife had less!! and a cream sauce. We ordered cheese and biscuits just to fill us up with the rest of the expensive wine. Well that was so a let down from the last time we where' there is no veg inside the salary (only this on the plate) we thought that was taking the %% out of the pay customer. Don't think will be going back soon, also table top' you stuck to" mite have been just ours but i saw a person cleaning! with spray and same cloth and her hair was very long, not far of the table it self. Update!! had a reply from them ((Thanks)) well, that tells you about the standard that they up hold!!. No interest in customer service or respect. It must have been wrong day we where there!! 😏

We visited while we were camping just down the road from here. The food was lovely and service from all the staff was great.

We were told there would be an hour wait for food AFTER we’d been seated, ordered drinks and our food. This was 20 minutes after we’d booked and didn’t have much choice but to accept the delay. The food ok. We ordered a couple of sticky toffee puddings and soon realised they had given us the ginger Parkin instead. When we mentioned this to the waitress, she went to the kitchen and came back to inform us that it was definitely Sticky Toffee Pudding. It DEFINITELY was not. Once again, I made this point as we paid and was told again we were mistaken. Very little in terms of customer service here.
