One of the best breakfast I’ve had in a while 👏 staff are lovely and friendly. Cafe is only small and is always busy so you will have to get down early to get a seat. The food is unbelievable and very reasonable for price too. Highly recommended if you’re in Newcastle.

We happened to be out on a Sunday looking for a breakfast place. The quayside can be quite busy with restaurants that offer almost the same food. We found this restaurant by chance. We were standing outside reading the menu when a member of staff came over and handed us the day menu. Surprisingly it was this gesture that tipped our decision to come in. The restaurant is quite small with about seven tables, however this was what we were looking for because this normally suggests the food is not mass produced. We were not disappointed, we both ordered full English and because I was super hungry, I asked if I could order one of the fruit scones as well. The waiter kindly advised that I might not be able to finish both and she was right, the breakfast was huge!!!! Everything was cooked to perfection, especially the poached eggs which were perfectly shaped and oozed yolk when porked. The black pudding was fresh and tasty. For such a huge portion, the price for a plate was surprisingly low. The menu was quite extensive and as we sat, we observed other patrons being served a variety of dishes. We are keen to get back and try something else. One thing which sets this restaurant apart is how engaging the staff are. The spirt opportunities and employ engagement strategies before one enters without being intrusive. This engagement and friendly manner continues throughout. We had to take the fruit scone and brownie home, they were too inviting!

This place is always busy so thought I’d give it a try. I’ve got to say I was disappointed. The service felt really manic & rushed, with a loud & quite overbearing member of staff frantically flying about. I chose eggs benedict, but both of my eggs were over-cooked, if I wasn’t pushed for time I’d have sent them back - I really don’t get how places struggle to poach a decent egg, if I wanted hard boiled that’s what I would’ve ordered? My husband said his sausage & egg stottie was decent. I didn’t appreciate having the bill put down while we were still eating, or the waitress standing by our table staring at us while I finished my drink because she clearly had someone waiting outside for the table! Very disappointed, wouldn’t return.

However, the breakfast tea was over 2 quid for just a cup, the full English doesn't come with beans (when I asked for them I was given beans but not told or reminded it was extra - simply charged for the beans and hash browns supplement without an acknowledgement). Lovely little space (only eight (small) tables!), located right under the largest bridge over the river Tyne. Father and son weekend out, breakfast place spotted by the sun. They do not take reservations and as it was a beautiful sunday morning, there was a little queue outside. Lovely thing about that is that they your drinking and breakfast orders, so that, once in, you are being served rather quickly. The son ordered the Full English, father took scrambled eggs with salmon (and added a large croissant afterwards). All decorated with coffee, orange and water. Four points because of: super friendly staff, very well cooked and good looking food, served fast with temperature as it should. Lovely atmosphere too. Why not five points then? ;) The spot is small and so are the seatings. We were seated in a two-seat bank right at the window, with almost no leg room (which is a bit of a thing for Dutch men of six feet and up… ;)

MORE AT Google

We were looking for gluten free choices for breakfast for my wife and followed the Google reviews for this cafe being good for GF choices, sadly, it was NOT easy to get gluten free food here, despite previous reviews. To be fair it is a tiny cafe, and was packed when we arrived. I suspect this led to the difficulty we had trying to get a straight answer to the queries about the food as all the staff seemed under pressure from the lady shouting at everyone from the kitchen area. Given the UK Governments directives on food safety, the lack of a GF version of a menu is very poor and frankly dangerous for celiacs if the staff have limited understanding of what is in the food. The lady who took our order was very obstructive about what could be ordered - to summarise, they would let you swap items with gluten out but you had to pay full price for the dish with these items removed and then pay extra to add other items back in – just be clear, we’re not about getting free or cheap food, we earn good money, but that felt quite unfair, especially for people who are eating on a budget. We had to move tables for a larger party, were aware that we were being watched and as soon as we had put our cutlery down, the plates were whipped away and then as we tried to finish our coffee had the bill presented without asking and finally had the card machine presented before we were ready to leave. It really does seem like a popular spot and to be fair, I have no food allergies and my full English was faultless, but the rushed service and complete disregard for customer service has probably ensured that we won’t waste time coming back. We really try to support small local businesses like this, but when the service is worse than a chain food outlet and it’s far more expensive, it makes us wonder about our choices.

MORE AT Google

We were in Newcastle for the weekend. We prefer to go out for breakfast and, where possible, to support smaller businesses. I'm gluten intolerant and this place popped up as having good reviews for gluten free food. I will start by saying the food was beautiful, cooked really well and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his full fried breakfast. It is a small space, nicely decorated but tables are crowded. My hubby and I were initially sat at a table for four and then, once we'd ordered, we were moved to a table for two to accommodate a larger party. We didn't have an issue with this but, we noted that there were people queuing at the door, ordering drinks whilst they waited for a table, and we saw people being almost hurried out. The menu indicated that items marked GFA meant that gluten intolerance could be accommodated- however no items WERE marked at all, so I asked the waitress. All the options I suggested (including poached eggs) were not possible, no accommodation was offered. The waitress, quite firmly, pointed me to scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toast, not what I would have chosen on this occasion. I asked if I could swap out the smoked salmon for bacon and was told no, but I could have bacon as an extra. After some confusion and discussion I capitulated and went for scrambled egg and smoked salmon- the waitress could not explain why no swap could be made. They took our orders and brought our coffee My breakfast eventually arrived five minutes after my husband's. The eggs were beautifully cooked, the smoked salmon minimal, but tasty. When we go out for breakfast on a Sunday morning, part of the experience is spending a little time drinking our coffee and relaxing for five minutes (or more) once we have finished eating. Alas this was not to be. We were very aware of being watched by waiting staff for when we'd finish and, sure enough, I'd not finished chewing my last mouthful of food before my plate was whisked away. Within seconds the bill was brought to the table. I continued to finish my coffee while discussing with my hubby which of us was paying. Before we'd finished talking the waitress appeared with the card machine for payment. We genuinely barely had time to finish our coffee before feeling as if we'd been 'hoofed out' to make space for more paying customers. It was SUCH a disappointment. I can't, in all conscience only give one star- the food was beautifully cooked, really tasty, but it was the least enjoyable breakfast experience I've ever had. Good food alone is not enough. The ability to make customers feel welcomed is an essential in any food business and this café failed miserably.

First time here. As with a lot of places, breakfast and brunch dishes tend to, of course, contain eggs. My partner doesn't like eggs and asked for her breakfast dish to have mushrooms instead of eggs with her 'breakfast stottie.' The waitress said she'd have to ask if her request could be accommodated. As the kitchen is open plan, we quickly realised that this wasn't going to be ok judging by the cook's tone when speaking to the waitress. The waitress then came back and coyly explained that it couldn't be done and apologised. I was pretty flabbergasted as its the first time we've ever had such a simple request refused. We left and had a lovely breakfast elsewhere. Unbelievable.

Went with my Mum as we entered the door we were both handed a menu, and given a sit and immediately asked what we wanted, I asked if I could take my coat off before I decided please. We both had Eggs Benidict , which was nicely presented, the staff were not very friendly, and not very polite. There was a lady at the back shouting at the staff telling staff to hurry up, and serve. Not a relaxing atmosphere. The food was good, but before we had finished was handed the bill, and the girl who took the payment didn't even say thank you, then asked if we wanted the change, which was rude. Normally we tip but as we were rushed, and staff were rude would definitely not go back.

Not as it used to be. Toasted Cheese & Onion sandwich, absolutely minuscule ! Not toasted at all. Cold Grated cheese falling out when I lifted it because it wasn’t melted. Opened it to look at it. If there was even a teaspoon of cheese in there I’d be surprised. None of it melted. One ring of cold red onion, not even chopped. I complained about it not being cooked, but I could’ve said much more. They said it was done in the oven like they always do it ! Never heard of anyone doing a toasted sandwich in an oven! No apology. They asked if I wanted to order anything else. Told them no, just said I wouldn’t expect to be charged for the toastie which I hadn’t eaten. Ordered 2 teas as well & a Craster Kipper for husband. He said it wasn’t anything like the Craster Kippers they used to do, as it was very dry, untasty & possibly kept warm in an oven for some time. I’d ordered 2 teas. My mug had a stain of dried red sauce on it. No teapot, just a teabag dropped in a mug of hot water, & no receptacle for used teabag. To be fair, the tea wasn’t too bad. They seem to be using decent teabags. There were three staff in there & they just stood chatting with each other. Will never go back. Not the place it used to be. Very disappointed. Waste of time and money.

I ordered an orange juice and teriyaki steak wrap. The steak was chewy and was just one huge piece rather than cut into smaller pieces. Also they forgot to bring my drink to the table, overall a poor experience with a place that could have potential.

Very good service, very cool and quirky menu with some unique food and drink choices. Nice little spot under the bridge, good value too, would definitely visit again.

Fabulous breakfast and service. Definitely recommend... it's that good many have to queue, but worth it..

Excellent food, best Eggs Benedict in Newcastle. Small venue so be prepared to wait at busy times, but well worth it!

Lovely and popular breakfast spot. Really delicious eggs benedict and attentive service too. Only issue was they were clearly very busy and so were rushed out the door a bit so not a spot to sit and linger.

1 cafeaua foarte proasta. Și mâncarea comanda și recomandată de personal nu a fost cea mai buna. Prea scump pentru ce oferă , părerea mea nu se merită.

Came here for a takeaway coffee, Staff were friendly and the place looks nice, but the coffee was bad, very burnt.
