Quay Ingredient. I ordered a full English breakfast and eggs benedict. There are sausages, bacon, bread, baked beans, shiitake mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, hash browns, etc. You can choose between scrambled and poached eggs. The black pudding was not cooked to perfection. It looks delicious and tastes good. I ordered black pudding for the eggs benedict. The ingredients look good overall. The interior of the restaurant is a bit small. The service is friendly. I would visit again. 2025.02.04 - Visit

Staying here from plymouth for the weekend. Quick google search for eggs benedict, and this place turned out to be the best iv ever had. Even better than the eggs benedict I had in New York. 100% recommend, also alot of locals eating here when we did. Which says that it's trusted by the locals.

I originally saw this small restaurant on Tyneside Life's YouTube channel and couldn't wait to visit. What a lovely cafe on the quayside. It's a little hidden away but it's well worth visiting. The argument could be made that it's the best breakfast in Newcastle. I went for the brioche french toast with maple syrup, bacon and a side of hash browns. The bacon was cooked perfectly and the toast itself was to die for. My fiancé got a Cajun chicken stottie and left me half to my delight. The chicken was very succulent and the spices tasted fresh and very high quality. The coffee is also of a high quality, we got a cappuccino and Vietnamese style iced coffee and both were delicious. After sampling a Costa coffee later the same day we actually preferred Quay Ingredient's coffee. Compliments to the owner and chef as the place was very busy but the food arrived promptly and we were treated better than we would have been in most chains. Worth the visit for fantastic food and coffee. They're open 7 days a week until 3PM. Support a great local business!

Great breakfast “Doon the Toon” This is exactly what was needed after a night out down Newcastle, it’s a very busy little cafe but it’s a quick turn around! We waited 5/10 minutes for our table, the girl had took out drinks order before getting the table which is ideal, got our table and the drinks came straight away! Ordered a big slap up breakfast and it squared us right up to go again!! Only bad thing is we didn’t get bacon on 2 out of the 3 breakfasts that we ordered that’s my only negative point! If we ever come back down to Newcastle we will definitely be visiting here again 🏴

The food was absolutely amazing, and the service was really helpful, but the atmosphere lacked a bit due to the fact there was no music playing. It was completely silent apart from the odd kitchen noise or someone else talking. This might have been an off day though (eg, broken speaker, etc.) Other than that, lovely cafe.

What a lovely cafe! Dropped into this cafe just off the Quayside under the Tyne Bridge for the first time today for a coffee. Fabulous cappuccino and fruit scone, my husband had a fried egg sandwich which he also thoroughly enjoyed. The service was great, and the lady who owns the cafe was lovely. 1 Star as we came up from London and were staying on Newcastle quayside,we saw this place on YouTube (Newcastle life channel) we decided to go for lunch and they were closed at 14.15. I wish I could run my business that way. Only money launderers can afford to stay closed.

Food is amazing and staff are very friendly. Only let down is when the bill comes. First time I went here was charged £4.50 for OJ however at time of visit cost was £3.95. Second time I visited today, the breakfasts were charged at £12.95 each however they were £11.95 on the menu. It’s a shame and I urge everyone to check your receipt prior to paying. A one off I can accept as an error however it seems to be coming a regular occurrence. Apart from this issue which they were happy to resolve everything else was lovely and would still come back.

Very small inside. Hardly any room to move. People have to push through to get to the counter. Went in for a hot drink and croissant to takeaway. Got a shock when they charged £3.95 for the croissant that was hard and small. You could get a better croissant from liddle for around £1.20. To be fair, the drinks are worth the money, but overall, it's a bit pricy for what you get. As other people have said, nothing special.

Came here for breakfast. I had traditional English, and my friend had eggs Benedict. Traditional breakfast was very good (despite feeling the sausages could’ve been cooked a little more). Mushrooms were delicious. My friends eggs Benedict looked very good. Also breakfast going to other tables looked very good, and their bread looked great. Only criticism or items I was disappointed with was the following; - Service was a bit slow. Wasn’t that busy when we came in, but took a while for waitress to take our orders. Once ordered, our drinks took some time to arrive, bearing in mind it was just 2 cups of tea. - When tea arrived, I asked if we could have some milk too, and the waitress brought over the smallest jug I think I’ve ever seen. It probably had less volume than a shot glass. Was not really enough milk for 2 cups of tea. - Sausages could’ve been cooked a little more. They were nicely cooked on one side, but not so much on the other. - I asked if I could substitute the black pudding for hash browns, however the waitress said substituting items is something they don’t do, which I found slightly disappointing. Overall it was a good place and would return, but just found those points raised above a bit disappointing / bizarre.

My husband and I visited recently for breakfast whilst staying at the Malmaison close by. There are only a few tables so initially didn't think we would be seated but were given a table for 2 beside the counter. My husband went for the full English with an extra portion of beans and a hash brown. I ordered the brioche french toast with banana, homemade fruit compote and a topping of cream! I had a hot chocolate with marshmallows and my husband had a coffee. My husband is a bit of a cooked breakfast fan and said that it was one of the nicest breakfasts he has had which is praise indeed! The service was friendly and attentive and the food was well presented and delicious. I would have no hesitation in recommending a visit and would certainly return again in the future.

I have always wanted to try out the cafe after reading the reviews so I went with my friend and we were both disappointed by the experience from the start. We were rushed to place drinks order even before we have a chance to take off our coats, the cafe wasn't busy at all at the time. When the foods arrived I made the waitress aware that a drink is yet to arrive even though we were rushed to place the order she assured me it will arrive. The missing drink never came and they removed it off the bill. The whole visit the staff seemed pushy with table turnaround even when it wasn't busy and me and my friend both agreed the foods were nothing special and overly hyped

I find it very expensive for the quality. I ordered a “big nutella croissant” there’s nothing “big” about it since it’s just a normal croissant and it’s not with nutella as it’s written but with chocolate. And when I talk to the cook about it, it’s normal for her… lack of honesty. I therefore advise you not to eat sugar in restaurants. My friends ate the savory one and we really enjoyed it but we found it expensive for the quality… The waitress rushes us to order the drinks but for a simple tea you will have to wait 15 minutes and she will not give you the tea you have ordering… for hot water and a tea bag is a very long time, knowing that there were no more than 15 people in the restaurant. Bad experience. If I go through Newcastle again I won't go back there

We happened to be out on a Sunday looking for a breakfast place. The quayside can be quite busy with restaurants that offer almost the same food. We found this restaurant by chance. We were standing outside reading the menu when a member of staff came over and handed us the day menu. Surprisingly it was this gesture that tipped our decision to come in. The restaurant is quite small with about seven tables, however this was what we were looking for because this normally suggests the food is not mass produced. We were not disappointed, we both ordered full English and because I was super hungry, I asked if I could order one of the fruit scones as well. The waiter kindly advised that I might not be able to finish both and she was right, the breakfast was huge!!!! Everything was cooked to perfection, especially the poached eggs which were perfectly shaped and oozed yolk when porked. The black pudding was fresh and tasty. For such a huge portion, the price for a plate was surprisingly low. The menu was quite extensive and as we sat, we observed other patrons being served a variety of dishes. We are keen to get back and try something else. One thing which sets this restaurant apart is how engaging the staff are. The spirt opportunities and employ engagement strategies before one enters without being intrusive. This engagement and friendly manner continues throughout. We had to take the fruit scone and brownie home, they were too inviting!

This place is always busy so thought I’d give it a try. I’ve got to say I was disappointed. The service felt really manic & rushed, with a loud & quite overbearing member of staff frantically flying about. I chose eggs benedict, but both of my eggs were over-cooked, if I wasn’t pushed for time I’d have sent them back - I really don’t get how places struggle to poach a decent egg, if I wanted hard boiled that’s what I would’ve ordered? My husband said his sausage & egg stottie was decent. I didn’t appreciate having the bill put down while we were still eating, or the waitress standing by our table staring at us while I finished my drink because she clearly had someone waiting outside for the table! Very disappointed, wouldn’t return.

I don't drink beer/Ale but they have an impressive selection and plenty of wines & spirits to choose from to suit all tastes. Staff are fantastic and always happy to help... highly recommend.

We visited here on a Saturday afternoon. 2 adults and 2 kids 10 and under. What a fantastic experience!!! The ice cream was great and tasty and the staff were great, so friendly and knowledgeable. It takes a little time due to how busy they were but was worth the wait. Will be back. The kids are desperate for another visit.
