Prohibition Cocktail Club in Portsmouth

The place looks good and has the character of a 20s jazz club. Sadly however the cocktail choice was limited to 6 none of which would be on the top 10 list of any of the 7 of us who attended. We also had £35 added to our bill for the live music which was unexpected. As a larger group the volume of the music made it impossible to have a conversation so we left after 2 drinks. It's early days for this place so I hope they can tweak it to fulfill its potential

The first impression was strong. Fab downstairs bar, great music but the drinks were laughable. None of our cocktails came close to drinkable or recognisable and they were served in ugly black plastic cups! If you are going to try and sell premium style cocktails at 8-£12 a pop they need to be served correctly. If you need to change to plastic cups on busy nights for safety, don’t still try and peddle the same menu. The flavours were what you only expect in all all inclusive holiday resort, where Syrups and premixers, replace training and ingredients. It’s obvious cost cutting! Quick turnaround poor quality. I don’t mind paying for a decent cocktail but £100 for what we were served is a swindle. Be excellent in all you offer and less People would leave prematurely. Could be great. Severely let down by drinks.
