Costa in Portsmouth

Ordered two coffees to drink in, via machine at entrance. Waited a while even though one section of counter wasn't serving anyone. Order was placed in takeaway cups so I asked why not in proper ones. I was told the are was mainly takeaway. I said I'd asked for eat in and server poured said coffee into them. Observed several people trying to order at other serving point only to be told (rather curtly)to go to other one by a young man with no explanation. No sign to say that section now closed and as only 3.30pm a little bemused. It was a quite busy time

every time i go here they say they’ve either run out of ice or they don’t have enough drink powder or some other excuse as to why i can’t have a drink, what is the point of a costa if you’re always low on ingredients

manager. I have never heard of a more inconsistent, selfish man to work in a coffee shop in a hospital of vulnerable people who lets sick and poorly staff serve vulnerable patients otherwise he will take you to HR and try get you sacked! He is a let down to the company and I think compass should retrain him to manager his staff better. He has no people skills, no team management skills and targets staff members and bullies them. He also favourites other staff like taran. He needs to be demoted and retrained especially on his policies and procedures.

Quite rushed, always very busy. Quite slow. But service always OK - and coffee and food not bad either.

best Cortado coffee, croissants just ok.. staff is kind and quiet atmosphere, it's inside the hospital, be prepared for a bit of queue

Awful, queuing for 15 minutes 6 staff behind the till all avoiding serving just leaving 1 to do so who was then making each drink after. No manager insight queue out the door. 2 staff making their own drinks and leaving. I hope no one is terminal in the queue...they'd be dead before they reach the front of the queue.

Rude and obnoxious Tina this morning refusing to use my brand new reusable cup as stating I’d not rinsed it out, in fact I literally just rinsed it and was still wet to touch on the outside. Snatching the cup out of my hand stating it’s dirty and she won’t fill it and we’re in a hospital.. Fully aware of the surroundings as I have been patiently waiting for 24 hours for our new arrival, I also note that said Tina did not once wash her hands from between scratching her head to handling food and serving customers. (I would think her personal hygiene was more of a priority than an actual rinsed out flask) 6am and in a hospital setting her appalling behaviour and attitude is very much not needed. The rest of the team have been lovely throughout the night. Some 50 something coffee slinger is clinging onto what ever she can too “be the boss”

So many Staff doing nothing. No sense of urgency at all. Such a long queue , waited in line for a good 20 minutes. It's the only Costas in QA Hospital, and it's not working. Hospital staff were waiting so long. Costas head office needs to go down and sort it out !

Don’t try using reusable cups. I am visiting daily at the moment so bought a reusable cup from Costa to save on throwing away the disposables. Don’t bother trying to save the planet they are not interested. I was told that once it had been used they would not refill it. Completely bonkers.

I still can’t believe that a packet of Ketchup is 10p in this store. I think it’s a rip off and condiments should be free anyway!

Lukewarm drink and the order was partly wrong, not interested in customers, more interested in chatting with each other, loud enough to know it wasn't work related, pretty poor service for lunchtime in the hospital where time is very much of the essence for most people!

I went into the shop on Sunday with my son went to pay at till at 5;50pm to be told I could only pay by card. Surely money is money why is it the staff are unable to take it

Easy to find, close by the main entrance to the hospital. Friendly staff and usual Costa fare.

Popped in for a tea/coffee and a slice of cake while waiting for my prescription to be ready. Had I known the state of the table's, I think I would of perfered elsewhere. It appeared the previous customer had sat in the previous customer mess, meaning we know had to sit in 2 customers mess.however do not fear we cleared the despicable table's for you on our departure... I couldn't believe that this was allowed or acceptable inside a hospital facility. You couldn't even say that they where short staffed, more than enough to clean table's. It was evident this was considered below there pay grade. Table waiting service solely relys on the customers good nature and manners.

Easy access located on the main atrium of the hospital by the main entrance .. friendly staff no waiting and sat I comfortably

Excelentes ambientes amigables, amigo tiene una buena selección de artículos, pero Costa no tiene tantos, pero sigue siendo bueno, la comida es buena y es un salvavidas para cualquier persona en el hospital.

Not enough staff at times, long queues and often coffee isn't hot enough

A disgusting age worn sofa with open dirty fabric that must be teeming with bacteria posing a significant infection risk to both in-patients, staff and visitors. I can't believe the Hospital Infection Control Team have not picked up on this! This should be removed immediately. It been in this condition for at least six months.

The over priced rotten fruit shop that takes advantage of the weak and vulnerable need i say more! Hold your heads in shame selling Rotten Food!

Popped in for lunch on Sunday whilst visiting at the Hospital. A welcoming environment, friendly and efficient staff and the full range of Costa products. A welcome experience and duly lunched, and with good coffee, I returned to the visit. Long past reviews of this branch are not good, but it is certainly being run very well now.

Nice place to sit & relax after visiting somebody in the hospital or after bringing someone in to have a nice cup of tea or coffee with something to eat, I was served by a welcoming member of staff which really helps your mood depending on your circumstances of being there.

Good coffw, the cakes, toast are not always fresh

Queen Alexandria hospital branch of Costa coffee . Usual Costa stuff with polite helpful staff on floor A of the hospital down the corridor from the main entrance.

Usually it is a nice experience to visit this coffee shop, however this week I was asked to leave and accused of not purchasing anything, despite having done so. The manager sent over a barista to ask me to leave rather than have the decency to do so herself.

Brilliant service, my girlfriend was in labour and told to go home by the maturity unit, costa staff saw she was in pain and told her to come in they gave her ice water and told her to sit wherever she would like even though they were closing up. Manager on shift was very professional and very caring. Brilliant customer service

Would give that last star if it could be a full blown Costa shop with all the options available. Staff always helpful though and service is quick.

Normal costa fare very busy at peak times. Seating area could do with a refit/refresh.

Two sets of tills, one open! Staff sat around chatting and not serving... the loyalty card machine not working and the sign is epic!

It's a costa. In the hospital. You get the idea. The staff member working was very nice! And apparently they are hoping to open 24 hours.

This must be winning as the worst organised Costa franchise. Long queues, disorganised and not so well presented coffee thrown in a Christmas cup in March....

Lovely little Costa that I go to regularly after/before work. All staff are a delight and work very hard!

Had to take my 6 year old for quite a serious test to QA, got there early and visited Costa, great friendly staff, food was amazing and a massive Americano, my daughter had a lovely panini and drink, settled her before getting plugged in!! Thank you, worth visiting just for a good lunch and coffee!!

Standard costa fare. However, handgel everywhere it is after all based in a hospital! The tables and chairs are filthy with crumbs of food on the chairs and the tables look as if they haven't seen any cleaning product in a long while......disgusting! .

Visited my Mother here and always enjoyed taking her a lovely hot chocolate. I have regularly been served by a nice young man who is very kind to all ages and attentive.

I’ve been visiting my husband off and on in QA for 16 months and have only ever bought two coffees here. They are so disorganised, slow and completely disinterested in customers! They chat amongst themselves and it takes so long to actually get a coffee! They have the monopoly of customers as there’s no where else! Get your act together Costa

Standard Costa, but right inside a hospital

Seems to be one of the good ones. Taken a life of its own. . Reasonable baristas and good coffee. One of 2 good coffee shops on Cosham

Always good to have a great coffee when hanging around waiting in the hospital.

This is really an example of where they can make money without putting any effort in. There always seems to be more staff than customers queuing but they take ages and never seem to know how to make any of the more complex drinks they have on offer, having to check recipes and ask around to see who made it last. The queue system in confusing, despite their best laminated signs to tell you otherwise and one of the reasons it's so slow is they never seem to want to use the second coffee machine at the left side of the counter. When you're visiting the hospital buying the coffee should much more relaxed.
