Pret A Manger in Chelmsford

Thank you to the lovely blond Polish lady for making my day just a little bit better. The pain aux raisin was still warm and delicious.

Horrendous experience, went with my older parents to warm up and have a coffee, to be told doors have to be left open as it was dangerous to close. I tried to speak to a member of staff and explain my parents were cold, to be told it stayed open very rudely! Then mumbled comments as he walked off!! Will not be going back!!

I had a filter coffee, it was unfortunately the worst filter coffee I have ever had. Nescafé at home was much nicer. It has gone right down hill since Diane left.

Staff are extremely polite and friendly, I’m really let down by the internet speeds in general at Pret. I can’t do any meaningful work sitting here with my coffee. It’s making me consider cancelling my Pret subscription and going elsewhere so I can work at my local coffee shop. I would love to know why Pret’s in general have such poor Wi-Fi connection speeds, is it throttled to limit people taking up seating space for extended periods? -

Coffee ok. Don’t have tea. Weakest, cheapest tea. I will choose coffee or anything else. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

This branch has a new owner and its really gone down hill. Yesterdays coffee was a third coffee, a third froth and a third empty. The tuna in my sandwich had been mixed with so much mayo that it was more like a tune mayo soup than a sandwich filling and literally dripped out of my sandwich. They have still not reinstated the tubes for recycling coffee cups and lids which is a disgrace. Time to find somewhere new.

Lovely coffee ans staff. I usually have a cappuccino with oat milk. The oat milk cookies are very good as well.

This branch has two fridges one of which has been out of action for months. I can only assume the fridge has deliberately been switched off to save electricity and reduce their product range……less products less waste but less consumer choice. What is utterly reprehensible is they have removed the facility for recycling the paper cups which now just get thrown in the ordinary bins with all the other non recycled waste. I have complained to Pret about this who said they would get the area manager to look into it……they can’t be looking very hard.

I really enjoyed my coffee and my porridge and I would happily go back and recommend it to my family and friends

The staff were pleasant and friendly when they took my order for an espresso. It was a very generous measure, full flavoured and I thought the way it was presented with a serviette on a circular silver tray was a nice touch. There are several vegan friendly options in the breakfast, lunch, soups, sandwiches, baguettes, wraps, hot meals, salads, snacks and sweet treats ranges.

The food is always good quality but why can't they produce sandwiches without an inch of lettuce, rocket and various other watery filler? I know they do a couple but decent sandwich shops in the centre of Chelmsford are few and far between and having to strip out the salad to find the filling I'm after is a pain. Others may disagree but I find Pret's sandwich selection limited and frustrating.

Stopped for a coffee just before 9am and it was very busy. Coffee, lattes were not that hot and the breakfast muffin underwhelming.

Love the soups. But have noticed less meat in them than there has been in the past. Overall we love it and go very regularly. We have a 2 year old and they always try to help us find a table with buggy room.

We always get a sandwich and drink from here to take away when short of time as they have a really good choice of freshly made sandwiches and delicious soups alongside all the usual extras i.e. crisps/fruit/cakes and hot drinks at reasonable prices. Beware the extra charged on sandwich prices if you eat inside, (in smaller print under the takeaway price) adds quite a bit to a family of four bill, doesn't seem to apply to drinks though so you could just have a hot drink in out of the cold. Glad to see they have now given a list of allergen contents under the sandwich description mounted on the shelves !!

Considering its a chain, Pret offers good value for money and offers fresh ingedients. Service always good.

This is the best place to pop in for a quick refreshment. The staff are always happy to see you and helpful with making recommendations of the food available. Take out or sit in if you have time. Maybe outside and watch the world rush by.

excellent coffee on offer with very good service. prices a little expensive for the food but i think this is the norm when you go in these places for a decent coffee.

Pret A Manger rather comes into its own outside London where such places are two a penny. Whereas at many a packed London branch baristas get tired whilst breakfast muffins and croissants are not quickly replaced, here in this much more relaxed branch, everything appears to be in stock and there’s even time for baristas to chat to a regular customer.

They always have a great range of lunch time food. Including sandwiches, wraps, hot paninis, pastas, salads, soup, as well as pastries & drinks. I like coming here for lunch as there is always a good choice on offer so I can switch my lunch up each day. It's not the cheapest for lunch every day though.

Service was good. The sandwiches were spot on, didn’t really satisfy my appetite though, and could definitely have a wider variety. Over all impressed but not overly, room for improvement.

Pret has to be my favourite place for sandwiches, the choice, flavours and freshness are always consistent.

If you fancy really spoiling yourself then why not go to this super place, you can enjoy one or more of their mouth watering cakes & just indulge yourself for a while, before coming back to reality !

You know what you are going to get at Pret a Manger: a reasonable selection of healthy food options in quite cramped conditions. A group of six of us popped in for lunch and we shared things like a salad or soup and a sandwich. The tables were cleaned for us, but the floor was very messy. It provided just what we needed to set us up for the afternoon.

Three of us called into this bright and comfortable coffee bar after a hectic shopping trip for a well earned hot chocolate. Service was brisk and friendly and the the mugs of chocolate were deliciousand hot.

Lovely place and very friendly staff! Only down side is that every time we come at 4pm half of the shop is closed as they are putting chairs up and moping the floor... accident waiting to happen with wet floor I must say...

Food was as expected for Pret but choice was a bit limited as the shelves were nearly empty.

Been going to Prets for lunch for quite a while now always pop in & have a sandwich & coffee while shopping in Chelmsford. Just recently it feels like it has become a shelter for the homeless !!

This place is well run the food is fresh and consistent and it’s run with a smile . We use this for take away or we take clients in here for a meeting . Good all round place

Lovely organic coffee and a big selection of freshly made healthy food. I love the selection of salads and soups. Muffins are great too. Amazing staff and very helpful. Next time you on High Street and fancy a coffee try Pret, you won't be disappointed.

The food here was lovely - incredible selection! Would definitely recommend for a quick, convenient and tasty lunch! Will be back!

One of our regular watering holes. Always busy but service always friendly and quick. We shared a baguette and had a coffee each. Fresh and tasty.

Popped in here for a coffee on Saturday morning. At the till our order was taken by a very friendly welcoming lady. It was a bonus to have our coffees served in proper cups. We also had some porridge for our breakfast which was quite nice - far superior to ALL of their competing shops such as Starbucks and Costa.

Dived in here while waiting for my bus ,latte was nice , did not eat here but food looked good, quite healthy looking. Clean environment and tables, felt a little chilly as doors open, chairs were wooden so wouldn't stop long.

This is a really good place to get some really great sandwiches and salads as well as a good choice of hot and cold drinks. All sandwiches are made fresh each day on the premises and have plenty of filling, no skinny little bits of cheese or meat and soggy lettuce leaves, everything is fresh and lots of it. Our favourite one is the Crayfish salad sarni but then again it is is hard to choose a poor one as they are all delicious. Sometimes you have to queue for a while if it is at busy lunchtime periods but the staff all work asquick as they can to get your order through. We always take the food away as it is quite a bit more to eat inside and if there are several of you it can soon add up, the drinks don't seem to have that extra on them though so we do sit inside sometimes for them, when we can find a spare table. Staff are all very friendly and we like the fact that all left over food goes to good causes and doesn't get thrown away..

Being fussy about our coffees, we were surprised and pleased by how nice the lattes were. Sandwiches seemed fresh, good quality ingredients and the almond croissant was light and delicious.

Popped in for a quick snack for lunch. Good fresh snack food hot and cold. Great muffins, cookies etc. Standard very good with quick efficient service. seating outside and in.

Good Choice of food and good quality. Limited space for high chairs and buggies. Would be better to eat with friends or as a couple.

Grabbed a quick Espresso before our meal. Straightforward coffee, no hassle to lead you in to buying anything else or 'gimmicks'. Just a Pret at its best.

Food excellent. Tables clean. Staff very nice. All OK till using toilet, filthy seat needs replacing.toilet bowl needs cleaning .A trip to Wilkos for a new seat and bottle of bleach wouldn't go amiss.

As we walked by it was very busy, thought this must be a good place. Nice bit of lunch ,staff polite and prices reasonable. Here comes the bad part. Needed to use the toilet before leaving, walked in toilet seat was down not a problem I can lift it up. Well what a disgusting site ,when was it last cleaned, has it ever been cleaned. I was gagging. A good dining experience ruined. BE WARNED.

Great asset to Chelmsford. Good coffee and the head barista is on the ball and switched on. An asset to that business and great for us customers.

Initially Impressed with the variety and selection of food on offer, nice coffee, although lunchtimes need to be avoided if poss due to local employees flooding the shop. However, I was very disappointed with the hygiene standard of the toilet I used after my meal and did consider informing the 'manager' but long queues and minimal servers deterred this. On leaving the premises I mentioned this to my wife who had the same experience and thoughts as did I, so here it is. Very sad that whoever has been tasked with this essential cleaning had obviously wiped the top of the toilet seat but ignored the bowl behind and below as well as the underside of the seat which was appalling. Toilets and their cleanliness are (to me) an important indicator of overall hygiene.

Will defo be going back. What a great place to grab something quick, tasty & ethical with great atmosphere & great customer service!

Always there for a coffee before my shift. The stuff is very friendly and nice. They're fast and the shop is always tidy and cleaned.

Great choice, tasty food and a delicious coffee. Staff are very friendly too. Better than Costa, Starbucks and any other chain nearby.

On a very busy Saturday afternoon, Pret still delivers to spec ... food is always fresh and tasty. Perhaps not the cheapest quick bite in town, but probably the tastiest

My husband and i stopped in here today while shopping in chelmsford. Lovely capuccino. great little coffee shop. Staff friendly and efficient. Clean and tidy surroundings. Very relaxing atmosphere.

If you want something hot for breakfast and you don t have the time to look for a cafe in the centre of Chelmsford, Pret a manger offers a very nice and affordable breakfast in a bun: omelette and bacon, plus a nice cup of tea cost £4.25. There are tables by the window so I could watch the town waking up and people going to their destinations. I was pleased to find local residents of the third generation enjoying a nice talk over coffees, gives the place an air of home comforts away from home. If you are eating alone, this makes you feel you are in a friendly place, enhanced by the politeness of the staff.

Nice to sit out at the basic tables and chairs on the pedestrianised High Street and people watch while enjoying a cuppa. There was also inside seating. The fennel and mint tea was superb. Good choice of food and drinks, service wasn't fast at the service counter( and they were not busy!) but we weren't in a hurry. Unfortunately outside tables were not kept clear and tidy.

What a great place. The staff really do make this place, always cheery and friendly. They are also super efficient at dealing with how busy it gets at lunchtime, and it does get busy, but that's a sure sign of a good eatery! Love the place!
