Oh wow!!! This is a hidden gem of Brighton , Roast dinner was on another level , beef was cooked to perfection, atmosphere and experience was spot on will be visiting many times more.

The best boozer in Brighton! I should know - its been my 'home' from home for 28 years. Moz and the bar gang are great and really make an effort to make you feel welcome and get to know the regulars. The atmosphere is like a cosy homely traditional pub and the food is top notch - generous portions and very tasty. There are even traditional pub games such as Toad and darts to enjoy.

Fantastic local pub under new management with great new beers and lagers. Food from Fred in the kitchen really delicious and amazing value. Chicken wings, halloumi fries, chicken Milanese etc. get down there as it's a really lovely place to be. And food and beer much better than other pubs in area.

The Prestonville Arms is Brighton’s best kept secret pub! Tucked away it needs to be better known and supported. We’ve known it many years and know it to be a real “community” pub: a place where the locals know each other and form a close knit supportive network of friends; in fact we wonder how isolated some of our mates would be without it! Not that newcomers are not welcome: there’s no prejudice or isolationism about our lot! So come on in and see/taste for yourself! Monty Oxymoron (that Damned keyboard man)

Just reopened and very much appreciated! Top notch beer (HSB on very good form), food and lovely new staff. Will be back again very soon.

Had a really delicious Sunday roast there today. I had a lovely vegan nut roast while others had the traditional chicken. We all were very happy. The manager was very friendly, and the drinks were well executed. It looks like it's been completely freshened up both in and outside. Will go back for sure

Lovely atmosphere, buzzy without being too busy, friendly owners, nice fire and the food, Sri Lankan night, was absolutely delish. But the music was AWFUL. I love a show tune as much as the next person but there was some terrible musicals CD on a loop, Evita, Greatest showman etc. It was like the music at a 6 year olds birthday party. Please just play some normal-ish music with the odd Lala song thrown in. We left after the 3rd loop, couldn’t listen to it anymore. Other than that a great pub and the new owners appear to be finding their feet despite accusing the locals of being homophobic in a local magazine article - ironic given how many of the locals are gay, have gay kids and the previous licensee was also gay. Plus - we’re all ‘down from London’ in this area. Not one born and bred Brightonian as far as i’m Aware! Would have got an excellent if it wasn’t for the music.

The Prestonville was a great local with well-liked long-term tenants until about 15 months ago, when they left and none of the three sets of people since then made a success of it. But now things are looking good again - friendly, very local tenants with plenty of good ideas and a new chef who has come up with a great menu. I’ve been to a couple of live music events and eaten there too after not going for a while. Four stars for now with the promise of better things to come at last.

Popped in after an exhausting day getting some culture looking at the open houses. This is a warm relaxing pub with good beer and food. Busy but bar staff were friendly and efficient.

Prices of beer kept changing. When I complained they said we owe you 65p. Will take it of your next round. Then didn't.

Great Sunday Roast, this was my second visit as they have a great selection, and cater for Gluten Free, including GF Yorkshire puddings. Definitely recommend.

Just had the roast here and omg! Soooo banging. I never clear my plate normally but wiped it clean. Best gravy I’ve had in a pub and everything just taste yummy and fresh 10/10 Please also tell other pubs how to do a roast potato 🥔👌

Lovely traditional pub new owners serving the best Sunday roast I've had for.ages.Everything was spot on Wife and I had Beef and.my daughter the slow roasted pork belly We also has cauliflower cheese.and.pigs in blankets and everything was perfectly cooked (ok I like my beef pink and it wasn't but still lovely.

Food is amazing 👏 the owners and bar staff can't do enough to make you feel comfortable

The pub has a nice decor and friendly staff. All the essentials you need from draught beers to cocktails. Food was very good and they started a fire too.

Our favourite local , the food is always delicious with vegan options too, dog friendly and they have a good mix of beer to suit everyone , plenty of choice of wine and cocktails, if that's not enough the staff are super friendly too

Since I wrote my original review we have been through the pandemic and Will and Caroline stepped up with doorstep deliveries. Last night we visited for dinner in the beer garden, and the food has lived up to the earlier promise. We had the fish and chips and the halloumi and chips and both were superb. Even the batter rates a positive mention, and the fish was some of the freshest and tastiest that I've ever had. Quiz nights' live music, everything a local should be.

The roast was absolutely bangin. Service was friendly and attentive. Big fan. Not a single part of the roast wasn't great. I had the veggie option and loved it! Would recommend to a friend.

I cannot rate this place and the lovely staff enough! I booked the garden area for my partners 30th (very last min booking) and given the weather and covid restrictions, I was concerned that it could get cancelled or not really be as enjoyable as It would be normally. But, not only did the staff kindly put up additional cover outside to keep us dry, but they delivered the 20 of us the best service and helped me organise everything in advance, which really added to how enjoyable the day was. I would highly recommend this pub for brilliant food, lovely staff and it’s fantastic location being only a 10 minute walk to Brighton station. Ideal spot for a garden party like we had or a cosy Sunday roast. HUGE thanks to Will, Caroline and the rest of the team for everything. We will be back again v. soon. 10/10

This is a really cute pub ran by an enthusiastic young couple. It’s friendly, good choice of booze & cozy.... what more can you ask for? Food... great, Sunday lunch is delicious & seasoned (sadly lacking in many venues. Has outside seating & a lovely “local” feel, dogs are welcome & Covid rules are well adhered too. Definitely worth dropping by for some lovely atmosphere & food.

We visited on May Bank Holiday for a Sunday roast to celebrate my daughters 22nd birthday. Due to restrictions we were seated in a cosy outdoor seating area. My young niece was a little cold and was offered a blanket which was a lovely touch, they even made her a hot chocolate at her request which I do not believe was on the menu. Between our group we had one of each roasts on offer plus sides, all of which was perfectly cooked and delicious. Service was excellent and price was excellent value for money. We will definitely be visiting again and will highly recommend.

Went for a Sunday roast. Food was excellent, service was a joke, forgot to include items (takeaway, as the seating situation is a joke) and were very nonchalant about the whole thing. For a Sunday lunch service, they were defo caught with their pants down.

Exceptional roast dinner! Really good value for money compared to nearby pubs too.

If I see breaded chicken on a menu I normally have something else, but the panko crumbed chicken burger was delicious, really crunchy on the outside and tender in. Hubby had beef burger, again beautifully cooked. We also ordered the chicken Katsu scotch egg, which as we’d ordered to take away we decided to have the next day for a treat lunch. Every single element of this was really tasty, and generous, proving that scotch egg from the Prestonville is indeed a substantial meal.

Great little local, warm, clean, with fantastic food and friendly welcoming managers. Loaded chips and burgers have been excellent 🤗 The katsu scotch egg was delicious, the whitebait were perfectly cooked and tasted fresh. Plus the Big Hug Juicy Pale beer is good too!

There are a lot of places offering good sunday roasts around Brighton and Hove - but this was one of the best I have had. Every element of the meal was brilliantly cooked, including the sides (pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese - would recommend both, but decent portions so bring an appetite). The staff were really friendly and helpful throughout as well - would definitely recommend this place!

Night out in Brighton and walked around the bars, found one which was closed then found this total gem of a pub, everyone was totally welcoming, great choice of beers and does food too (though didn’t try this), can totally recommend on the totally awesome hosts and the quality of the real ale on offer, will certainly visit again

Best pub in Brighton - great service, drinks, food and atmosphere.

We came to Brighton for a couple of days. Our 12 year old son has Coeliac disease, which makes eating out quite challenging. So many places you contact say of course we can cater for gluten free, then you arrive & are offered salad with no desserts available, this does not make for a happy family meal with an upset 12 year old. From the moment we booked Caroline could not have been more helpful, advising us and checking with the kitchen. My son had a delicious mackerel pate to start with amazing gluten free toast and then had the Wednesday speciality of sticky ribs, he was so happy and enjoyed every mouthful. Too full to try dessert. But thank you so much to The Prestonville Arms for not making him feel different & left out which happens so often when eating out.

Went for a Sunday roast and it was hands down the best pub roast I’ve ever had. All parts were delicious, the meat was perfectly cooked, the veggies were varied and tasty, and the cauliflower cheese was on point! really friendly staff, and the atmosphere was chilled and relaxing. Loved the decor inside too.

Popped in here whilst working in Brighton, as they didn't require pre booked tables. Friendly staff coupled with great food ( I had the fish and chips) made for a pleasant stop at this lovely little pub. Recommended!!

Wandered in for a roast on Sunday. It was incredible, easily the best roast in Brighton. The care and attention put into every part of it was so impressive, the homemade yorkshires were stunning but the gravy stole the show, i could have bathed in it. Service was so friendly and you felt at ease straight away, they've got a great draught selection and I was made up to see Easy Peeler on tap. Nice and airy outside terrace area was perfect in the weekend weather and already looking forward to coming back. Thanks Will & Caroline

We had an incredible day spent in the pub. The staff were really friendly and allowed us to have a safe yet fun experience with the current safety procedures in place for COVID 19.

Great pub, recently changed hands and the new landlords have made the place a real gem. Great food, great selection of beers, great times. What more could you want.

The Prestonville has really cheered up with Caroline and Will taking over. They’ve brought back a varied pub menu, with high quality daily specials as well. Lovely salad for a pernickety veg buff and large melting rack of ribs for the carnivore. Good choice of beer, friendly staff, well chosen music and a lively atmosphere- what’s not to like? A Great pub for locals and for those of us choosing to walk past other pubs to get there.

Changed hands a few times recently but this is still a great, welcoming local pub. Always cosy, well laid out, and very kid & doggie friendly. The selection of games and books is a nice touch too, keeps the adults and kids occupied.

Lovely. This has changed hands since I moved in on the same road a year ago. Thankfully now it's a delight. Popped in for the spooky vegan roast recently and it was the best roast I've had since I moved here. Cosy, charming, fun local pub with cute dog action and people just having a nice time.

Fantastic food by mr monkey, great friendly staff, with atmosphere to boot. You won't find another Sunday dinner as good as this in Brighton.

Fantastic fish and chips. Better than Bardsley’s used to be and that’s saying something. No contest. This is now the go to fish n chip shop for the Dials / Preston Circus area.

No nos decepcionamos porque terminó siendo uno de los mejores asados que he tenido en la memoria reciente. Nos acabamos de mudar a Brighton, así que fue genial encontrar un lugar tan cerca de casa que ofreciera buena comida y bebida a un precio decente. El personal parecía muy amable también. Definitivamente recomendaría una visita y volveremos pronto.

Went there last Sunday and this was a fabulous roast ... absolutely loved the food and atmosphere....even the kids totally rated the place and food , have been back for fish and chips which were also superb

A little gem hidden from the main streets, it's charming, very cosy and homely with lots of character provided by artwork, antiques and even a table computer game. Friendly staff, good beers and damn tasty haloumi and chips have made this our new local.

We live locally, and have frequented the Prestonville Arms in past years. We read a review in the local Prestonville magazine recently which said that new management was now in place, the pub having been closed for a period of time. The review seemed quite positive and we decided to give it a try tonight. Very unwelcoming barman, I would say quite rude. Asked for a wine list - no list - only one white wine on offer - Sauvignon Blanc. No particular problem with that, but the barman was very short with us and not welcoming at all. The new landlord will have to try a lot harder than this if the pub is going to be successful in attracting the locals back. Great shame, and we will certainly not be visiting again. Our friends feel the same.

El pescado era excelente y el servicio muy bueno, en cuanto al precio. . . . 10 por cabeza para la comida y alrededor de 4 la pinta no está mal para Brighton - pequeño lugar agradable fuera del circuito turístico pero no muy lejos de los autobuses y trenes - evitando así problemas para que todos puedan llegar a casa con seguridad

Este es mi local. Un gran pub. Y los nuevos dueños son muy acogedores. Ha tenido un par de años dudosos, pero afortunadamente se ha solucionado. La cerveza vuelve a estar en forma y se encienden los fuegos. Trae en el invierno.Los eventos de comida son geniales. El menú de invierno bajó muy bien. Pudín de caramelo pegajoso. Y el evento de Thali (los jueves creo) es genial.

Nice pub with two friendly landlords. We have been going for vinyl Sunday and they've been kind enough to entertain our terrible music taste ! Wine is good selection and reasonable and now that it's getting colder I'm sure it'll be our haven as it has a lovely big fire there. Haven't had a pizza yet but they look fabulous and my partner says the beer is nice. It also has a little hidden beer garden which is beautiful.

Saw the article in gscene and visited what has in the past been a favourite haunt to support. However soon apparent from visit and diatribe from landlords, and speaking to some of the old locals that accusations against locals unfounded . Service was poor and staff unpleasant. Has no sense of a local pub. Drinks overpriced.

Great neighbourhood pub. Top food. Great bar selection. Dan and the staff always give a warm welcome.
