Absolutely terrible. We had to order 2 separate meals due to them only having enough beef for 1 meal. The meals came and the burger had plastic underneath. It was cooked with the plastic on! When we mentioned this to a member of staff they asked if we would like another one or if we just wanted to take the plastic off. Since I am not keen on eating a burger cooked with plastic I asked for another. We then shared one meal so we wasn't eating alone and would then share the burger once arrived. At no point did any manager or cook come over to apologise. The waitress said the food would be ready in 15 minutes. 15 minutes passed and no sign of the meal. My partner had to go and ask where it was and why no manager had been to see us. Once the meal came, we could see a collection of staff talking about what had been said. A woman, presumably the manager came over and apologised for the plastic in the burger and said she is sorry that none of the staff made her aware of this. Won't be coming back here as this isn't the first time they have messed up on cooking and my orders. Absolutely useless. Especially for the prices they charge. Go elsewhere and save yourself the stress.

Fantastic freshly cooked food, the chicken gyros was delicious wrapped in a fluffy flat bread (containing chips!) Service and staff were excellent. Definitely will be returning.

We wanted a pot of tea and a cake or traybake. We had a pot of tea which was fine but didn't bother with any cake because they were massively overpriced. They ranged from 3.50 to 5 pounds which is completely unacceptable for a small slice. I realise the cafe has a captive market but pricing out people who are on limited budgets is dreadful. I have experience of many cafes and have never seen such overpricing elsewhere.

Good quality food, lovely setting and friendly staff!, bit pricey relatively speaking. We’ve been there before and it’s a nice place to go.

Absolutely dreadful, my sister had a gluten free tuna sandwich with stale bread and undercooked chips. My mum and my self had pie and peas and had to leave all the peas and half the pies, it was tasteless but not cost less at £30. I certainly will never eat here again and would advice everyone to stick to the drinks only.

Waited 20mins for coffee after ordering and paying. Had to go and ask what was the delay. Got "sorry it won't be long". If the staff spent more time with the orders than chatting and wandering off things might improve.

Last time we visited my order got " lost in translation" as I have also seen described on here. Ended up eating alone as everyone else had finished. Today I ordered soup. It came with no cutlery and after I'd asked for that I noticed I had no butter for my bread. The " soup " was not soup but a thick , cold , lumpy puree . I tried to make the best of it as I hadn't paid and didn't want to ruin a family lunch but it was inedible and my daughter gave me half her sandwich. The table incidentally was full of other people's discarded food and although cleared eventually the table wasn't wiped. The floor was filthy. I got a wipe out to move pea's from under the table and it was not good. £22 really, really not worth it

Found this place by chance and it is excellent. I suffer with Coeliac and have to eat only Gluten free food and was amazed at the selection available tried the GF cheesecake this time but will definitely come again to sample the other items

My husband and I have been coming here for breakfast with our dogs for a few years now and always enjoyed it. On Christmas Eve we decided to come for breakfast on our way to St. Ives for a dog walk. We were up early so checked opening times before we set off. I checked Google,the garden centre website and then Facebook, especially with it being Christmas Eve I didn't want to rely on Google only, as in my experience this is sometimes inaccurate for business opening times during holidays. Apparently the cafe opened at 10am. I did see mention of Santa Claus visits with breakfast, so anticipating this might make the cafe busy I tried to find the dates but couldn't see them. There was no suggestion it was closed. On arrival at 10am the noise from the cafe could be heard from the doors of the main building and walking towards the cafe we could see loads of full tables - obviously it had opened well before 10am. The lectern at the entrance had a sign saying the cafe was fully booked. We spoke to a young girl in the cafe and asked if we could wait until a table became free. She advised we could order drinks and have them in the ice cream parlour but the cafe was only serving breakfast. I asked again if we could wait for a free table as it was breakfast we were hoping for - then she abruptly informed me (as though she'd already told me, which she hadn't) that the cafe was closed and only serving pre-booked breakfasts for Santa visits. Why not just say this in the first place? They could have put a notice on their website, their Facebook page, on the garden centre doors, inside the garden centre, made a clearer sign for the lectern and/or had staff who could communicate politely and clearly that the cafe was closed and only serving pre-booked breakfasts for the Santa visits but instead they opted not to do any of this, turning customers away (other people arrived about the same time as us and were also turned away). The silver cloud is that we finally tried the cafe at St. Ives which was lovely. We won't be returning. This place has been going downhill since after COVID/it's makeover when the menu was downsized and it became counter service. We continued to visit as it held personal meaning for us, with good memories, but this visit was the last straw.

we had just been to see santa which was ok but then wanted to go to the santa christmas cafe which was closed so went off for an ice creams and coffee we sat in the ice cream parlour we waited half hour for the coffee the children had eaten their overpriced ice creams so we asked again and a very rude girl said we have lots to do you will have to wait !!!!! we had already paid for it so waited again then asked for it to take away they were serving the cafe first this is ridiculous either get more staff or open the christmas cafe or get another coffee machine and looking at the other reviews this needs a good sort out not happy at all with this service

Came in yesterday with friends and the kids. There were a lot of us and we were sat on a big table together which we counted as lucky. Counter service so went up to order drinks. Served by a very positive and enthusiastic waitress who advised us to all order together when we are ready for food as it would then all come out together. Me and both my friends made comments to one another about her service and she was even asking the kids what they’d asked Santa for. When it came to ordering food we were served by a gentleman who did not hold the same qualities. He was visibly stressed and annoyed and we all came away feeling like a nuisance and disappointed with the service. Asked to speak to the manager who couldn’t have been more useful! She listened to what we had to say and made up for the experience completely. If I wasn’t for her and the lovely waitress we would not be coming back. The one negative part of our experience did not change how good the food was or the service from the other members of staff.

It's a busy cafe with lots of choice but not many servers. Got the order in for a couple of coffees , a beef burger and some scampi and fries. 12 of us did a walk nearby round Bingley St Ives. It is customary to have a lunch out October to March on our monthly walks. On the recci my husband and I called in at the Potting Shed to see if we could pre book for a party. No problem! We booked for 1.30, arrived about 1.15, the table was set and ready in a most friendly way, 2 at each end and 4 down each side, so conversation could continue. We were asked to pre order which we did, it was one of those where every meal looked delicious, fish and chips, pie of the day, scampi, jackets and soup, all tasted delicious too and generous portions. The service was excellent as well as the food. It was a perfect ending to our monthly walk. Thank you to all at the Potting Shed.

We entered the restaurant area and I asked the waitress if there were any vegan options to which she replied yes anything with a V next to it. I asked again stating no dairy but I genuinely don’t think she understood what I was asking. We then had a different waitress come over who also seemed quite baffled by what I was asking but was pleasant. I ordered and asked for the non vegan items to be put onto my husbands plate which they did. Whilst waiting for my order another waitress came out to say that the mushrooms were cooked in butter so I wouldn’t be able to eat them. Again staff were obliging and put these onto the other plate.They did offer vegan carrot cake and soya ‘milk’ and we discussed with the waitress that oat, almond or coconut are lovely alternatives, which I’m hoping she passes onto management. It would be easy to add a couple of vegan options and show these clearly on the menu. Please Woodbank, get with the times.

Called in here on Sunday after a friend said the food was much better than it used to be. Safe to say left happy & will a full stomach as the breakfast was really good & far better than i expected. Best local breakfast around will definetly be back. Like someone else put the waiting staff need organising better as we only got offered the one drink & no one checked the food was fine. I suppose no need when the food is good but another drink would have been nice.

Went today for breakfast & a brew. Food has definitely improved & much better than it used to be. Last time I came here they got my order wrong twice. Much improved & the beakfast was filling & just the ticket on a cold Sunday morning.Nice grub & good quality. Only complaint is the front of house staff need to chat less & remember to see if people need more drinks & anything else. Will definitely be back & hope next time the serving staff have improved as much as the food has recently.

Absolutely fabulous breakfast cooked to perfection, proper tasty, highly recommend. Front of house staff could have been more attentive. Wasn't offered additional drinks, would have happily stayed and spent more if asked for more.

2 items ordered; 2 sent back. Toast and jam: Bread was not toasted, cheap crappy bread. Beans on toast: toast was bare (nobody bothered with butter). C'mon Potting Shed - these are not difficult dishes. How can you get 100% of our food order so wrong?! Perhaps I should have read these appalling reviews before we even ventured in. Really disappointed and sorry, we won't be returning.

We tried a cream tea , scone, butter, jam , clotted cream last week - It has to be the best i have had anywhere and oh what a generous portion! Go on you know you want one!!!

Went for lunch. Place was very quiet, in fact more staff than customers. Ordered a ham sandwich. OMG, never seen ham that thick. Only managed half the sandwich as couldn't get my teeth through it. It really does blow hot and cold with food there.

Ordered roast turkey dinner today 17th December for myself and two granddaughters, I can honestly say it was the worst Christmas dinner I have ever had, the vegetables and roast potatoes were hard we had a job to get a knife through the cauliflower the dinner was barely warm it was very very poor, certainly would never eat there again. Got 25p change from £40 for three very poor meals and three drinks, when we complained the girl said she would pass on our complaints to the chef. Very very disappointed

Sat down to have a coffee and cake today, (Thursday 5th dec). It was about one third full so we expected to be served quickly. We sat in the far end where one boy was taking orders. He ignored us on more than one occasion and served others before us. The lad looked like he should still be in school and seemed disinterested to the extreme. We walked out after being ignored for about 20 minutes. Rubbish service

Booked a table for six people for a xmas meal which we pre ordered at woodbank request ,our table was booked for 12 o'clock by 12-45 nobody had taken a drinks order plus no food had arrived at 1-15 four gravy boats arrived at our table which we sent back as nobody had had their starters,eventually we had our xmas lunch which was ok but I don't think peas and red cabbage are very festive plus no cranberry sauce etc we didn't have time for a coffee as our transport was ready to leave,on a final note I cant really understand why our party had to order our food a week before only to be told on the day that the food wont be cooked until you arrive incase you fail to turn up ,surely a deposit would speed the process up so on the whole disappointing visit after many great visits I think two and a half hours of mistakes is to much,what a shame.

Went at the weekend to see Santa arriving around 12 and went straight to grab lunch. Was told there was a waiting list and a 40 min wait for food so we put our name and number on the waiting list and were told we’d be called when the table was ready. An hour later after seeing Santa and pottering around we headed back and saw the restaurant half empty so stopped by and we’re seated straight away (they’d forgotten to call us). Service was slow and poor. The menu has changed with half of it missing now lacking any variety and the kids menu has a lacking and overpriced, £5 for half a jacket potato! My husband had fish and chips and it was under cooked with soggy batter. Really disappointing as we used to love this place, such a shame.
