Port House in Portsmouth

We visited this morning for breakfast. We ordered 1 egg & bacon sandwich, 3 croissants, a tea, hot chocolate and an orange juice. It cost £17.40. The drinks came out quite quickly which was fine. We then waited nearly 30 mins for the sandwich and 3 croissants! The sandwich came out toasted for some reason. I said I would eat it so don’t worry after she blankly at me. It took another 16 mins for the croissants to arrive. Now fair enough we did ask for 2 of them to be warmed up, but when 2 came out warmed up and no sign of the other one for yet another 10 mins. My husband politely asked her why it was taking so long for the last croissant to come out. Her answer was I wanted all the food to come out at once (failed at that one)!! She then said with a total attitude “ I’ve only got one pair of hands you know”. She then came back and chucked the plate on the table and walked off!!! If they don’t want to be a cafe then don’t be. Save your attitude and comments to yourselves! The customer isn’t always right. But when you get attitude and a stupid waiting time and then the order is wrong. Politeness never hurts from the staff! When the locals tell you to avoid the place your best off listening to them! Oh well lesson learned!!!

Four staff down, timing all wrong for the brides first dance, food very basic and in small portions. Gatecrasher, no bar staff for long periods and an hour late due to food delay for the expensive live band to start. Very poor customer service.

Breakfast was cold , complained about runny egg , they did me another one still the white was very runny , along wait before we got served

Took my parents for a last Sunday roast dinner out before lockdown and it was really delicious. We all enjoyed every mouthful and everything was beautifully cooked. Fantastic Roast potato’s and giant Yorkshire pudding! Service was excellent and great value. Only disappointment is that we can’t come back next weekend! - but we will look forward to returning as soon as reopen.

Lovely roast! Perfect proper crispy roast potatoes, lovely meat etc. Really tasty, I was so surprised. My only complaints? Could of done with more lol also maybe some heating as I was freezing!

Dropped in for a lunchtime drink. Friendly staff and good selection of beers on tap. Cream tea’s & large slices of cake on display, a selection of hot food is also advertised during lunchtimes. Indoor & outdoor seating (if the sun is shining), for those walking the dog it’s ideal as they accept our furry friends. Prices are as you would expect, COVID policy is in place and well demonstrated. Friendly, clean & safe environment..... so yes we will visit again soon. Thank you.

Great authentic Belgian flavors of beers and foods. A very comfortable place to unwind and spend time with friends and family

We were here when we were down seeing relatives. Had both lunch and breakfast. Both were good and competitively priced. It’s a large space with well spaced table so good for the dog and Covid-19 safe. Will be back next time we are down

We had sunday lunch here and the staff were very accommodating and friendly but the food was definitely mediocre. The meat comes on the vegetables and everything is on your plate including the gravy which might be a problem to some. Yorkshire pudding is enormous but a little leathery and the roast potatoes slightly undercooked. The crumble was amazing.

Taking part in an organised quiz night the menu options were disappointing if you don't like spicy or vegetarian: thai curry, chilli or vegetable lasagne. However the meals were well cooked, reasonably hot and acceptable. Alas there was not enough waiting staff - whilst those on duty were working continually many quizzers had finished their meal before others were even served. Whilst meals were coming out no-one on duty at the bar whatsoever ... many wanted to replenish drinks to have with their food. When we were served at the bar we were charged £33 for three drinks and 5 bars of chocolate. Obviously an error and this was rectified but we discovered any bar of chocolate cost £1.50 .. dreadful price, wouldn't pay that in future. The plus points are that the venue will hold a good number of people and there is ample car parking.

We have used the Port House a number of times and have always enjoyed our visits. The food is always good and nicely presented. On Sundays the only choice is a roast, either pork or chicken. The roast was lovely and well cooked. There was plenty of choice for dessert and again these were really good. Because of the limited menu, I am not going to give them a top rating, however I would recommend this restaurant and we will be returning!

A small family gettogether last year included this offering and we enjoyed it so much we returned again this year. The choice from 3x Starters (@ £4.50), 4x Mains, each with a nice variety of traditional vegetables (@ £9.95 - including a "Free Glass of Fizz"), and 3x Desserts (@ £4.00) was well balanced and would have suited most tastes. Inflation being what it is there was surprisingly little difference from last year. The only thing that I can recall was the veg with the Mains being plated-up rather than being served on platters like last year. If anything, the quantities were reduced slightly from over-generous to just generous - it was still cracking good value. The starters were tasty and fashionably presented with swirls of dressings / sauces. My "prawns" were the smallest I've come across in ages - shrimps perhaps (but a reasonable portion nonetheless). The mains had the problem of the "Yorkshire" pudding perching on top of the pyramid of other components of the dishes and a little too much gravy on the plates, but lovely eating all round. We had plenty of time available and ended up taking well over two hours having a very convivial time. This was partly due to the restaurant being busy and so service was a bit stretched, but well done the staff - it was a Sunday after all and our table was booked for a later time than most. We enjoyed this special menu so much we went back a few days later for the "normal" lunch Menu - all sorts of standards backed up by excellent quality and value. Wish I'd tried the "Onion Bhaji Burger" though!

Came here as we wanted somewhere that would take dogs and had enough room for our oversized dog. Couldn’t have asked for anything better (even wooden floors, a god send on a hot day). Had a lovely lunch at a decent price. Will be back next time we are in the area.

Visited this establishment for Mothering Sunday lunch. Although busy when we arrived, we were quickly greeted and seated by friendly, accommodating, well presented staff. Bouquet of flowers already on table. Food was very good, and waiting staff were very efficient and hard working. Well one

Booked for mothers day lunch as we'd heard good reports and weren't disappointed. For a really reasonable price we had a la carte food and service. The silverblade beef was cooked to perfection as was the salmon. Vegetables were plentiful and the Yorkshire puddings some of the best we've tasted. desserts were lovely- as was the service. We are used to such events being sorrowful affairs food wise but this restored our faith and we will definitely be returning. Well done the Port House!!

Visitamos por primera vez hoy después de que un amigo nos recomendó The Port House. Es una gema escondida. . . Tuve una patata de chaqueta de atún que era encantadora y muy abundante. Mi marido tenía el pescado y las patatas fritas, que estaba muy fresco y enorme! Estábamos celebrando el cumpleaños de mi esposo y nos sentimos muy conmovidos cuando el personal nos trajo una rebanada de pastel de cortesía, además de cantarle un feliz cumpleaños. Un toque tan agradable y nos aseguraremos de volver definitivamente! Gracias xx

Realmente nos sentimos atendidos desde nuestra investigación inicial hasta el final de la noche de la fiesta. Kris y su equipo fueron muy amables, serviciales y me hicieron sentir muy especial: ¡la Cumpleaños! Deliciosa comida caliente, servida de manera sencilla y eficiente. Muy agradable personal nocturno de guardia durante toda la fiesta. Gracias a todos los involucrados.

This was our first visit and it won't be our last. Three of us had the Sunday lunch, 2 Chicken and one Nut Roast. The food and service was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic find. Thank you x

Tuvimos nuestra recepción de bodas de nuestras hijas aquí el sábado 21 calle julio 2018. Se había casado en el extranjero, así que esta era su recepción en el Reino Unido. Fantástico lugar. El personal fue extremadamente amable y servicial. La comida era deliciosa. Teníamos rollitos de tocino y salchichas y conos de pescado y patatas fritas. Todos entregados en cestas por el personal. Fue encantador. El único amortiguador en nuestra noche fue que nos dijeron que era hasta la medianoche. Así que esto fue puesto en las invitaciones. . . dj reservado hasta la medianoche y los taxis reservados para la medianoche para los huéspedes y 12. 30 para nosotros, ya que permitimos tiempo para limpiar y poner en orden. A las 11 . 10 pm se llamaron los últimos pedidos. Cuando lo cuestionamos nos dijeron que no. . tuvimos que terminar a las 11. 30 y salga de las instalaciones antes de la medianoche. Luego nos quedamos afuera durante 30 minutos esperando taxis. . con niños durmiendo. Muy mal tratado y todos nos quedamos muy decepcionados. Alojarse con un pariente cercano que conocía este lugar, así que había reservado una mesa para nosotros el domingo. No es el lugar más fácil de encontrar, ya que está un poco alejado del resto de los restaurantes de Port Solent, justo al lado de la cerradura. En caso de duda, diríjase a la sede del Yacht Club. Asistimos y una fiesta privada aquí, para ser justos, no sabíamos que en realidad estaba cerca del complejo Port Solent, pero es un buen descubrimiento.

Asisto a una reunión aquí y el desayuno es horrible. La comida es tibia, huevos revueltos bien no sabor muy aguados. Las salchichas son duras parecía como si hubieran sido cocinadas el día anterior. Nunca tuve el coraje de probar el tocino ya que tiene una capa de sal blanca. Las setas flotan en grasa.

Had a very enjoyable 3 course meal here. Fish and Chips with salad and mussels in a very tasteful sauce. The Beer was cold and the wine was delicious.

Have been told that this was a great meal so decided to try must say that the information was spot on one of the best we have tasted for a while we were with freinds that can be very fussy there comments we're when are we coming again

Estado aquí dos veces este fin de semana. Una vez para una boda el sábado por la noche y luego para una cena de asado los domingos por la tarde. La recepción del sábado era muy bueno y por eso le hubiera dado 5 estrellas. El lugar tiene una ubicación impresionante y sería una increíble telón de fondo para cualquier función.

Situado en el extremo del puerto Solent esta joya escondida es un lugar genial que no cuesta la tierra, personal muy amable y la comida de catering vainilla fuimos muy bien. Nuestro Entretenimiento por décadas y DJ Chipzzzi era insuperable. Lástima que terminó en la noche brillante de la medianoche, pero todas las cosas buenas deben llegar a su fin:).

Attended a wedding here and it was lovely. We had a delicious meal and the roast was amazing! The food was the best wedding food I've ever had.

Queríamos alquilar esta ubicación para el cumpleaños 60 de partido parecía ser buena ubicación local agradable. Así que fui a ver lo que sería un miembro mostró muy servicial del personal lleno en un formulario de solicitud y pidió detalles a ser enviado. . 3 semanas más tarde, nada recibimos. así que envié un correo electrónico detallando mis requerimientos, a través de la página web. Han pasado 2 semanas todavía sin respuesta. no sé cómo puedes reservar esta para una función simplemente parecen haber sido una pérdida de mi tiempo, así que el principio hasta el final.

Fui a mi trabajo fiesta de Navidad aquí la última noche, antes de reservar mi colega organizando este había registrado ese puerto Casa eran capaces de proporcionar una comida vegetariana, ella me aseguró que no fue un problema. Habiendo pagado 40 libras, estaba más que decepcionado con mi comida, un plato de tomates asados con una llovizna de vine, un plato principal salsa de soja risotto de guisantes y alubias y desierto de frutas y sorbetes. Pregunté si el plato de verduras mezcladas en la mesa, a compartir, era como MANTEQUILLA, que era. Le dije a la camarera que me decepcionó que la comida era tan escasa y carente de imaginación, volvió con un plato de ensalada. Me dijo, de nuevo, que me esperaba más por una comida cara y me dijo que el director ejecutivo de la empresa que le hablan a mí, ella no!

Bien atendidos, cena de negocios en un entorno agradable. La comida era muy buena. Las bebidas en el bar eran bastante caras, así que sugiero un rápido pop hasta 60 metros por el Weatherpoons carretera si compra una ronda! !

As other reviewers have pointed out, the port house is very event focused. What this means, however, is that if you pop in during the quieter times, you will get decent food served by nice staff. There may not be loads of staff so you may have to wait a few minutes while they attend to other customers, but the food is nice and it's not McDonald's, so they don't pretend to offer fast food... A great lunchtime venue if you're in the marina and want sensibly priced lunch time food.

Popped in for lunch and ordered a jacket potato with Tuna surely that can't be too difficult!!!Had to wait quite a while but when it arrived it was pathetic Hardly any Tuna about a dessert spooning each potatoThe jacket potato was still hard and a bit coolDidn't bother complaining as staff dis interested but will not go back again

Went to the Port House for the first time today. Lovely food, amazing price and delightful staff. Can't wait to go again.

For a wedding venue it is one of the top 5 I've been to! The view you have that looks out onto the boats is stunning at sunset and the food cannot be faulted! My family personally thanked the chef because we were so impressed with the quality of food we received. The food service was good because we weren't waiting what seemed no time at all for our next course to be served! We had a 3 course meal and I have to say the hot chocolate brownie is to die for!!! The staff were all smiles and very helpful when dealing with a malfunction we had concerning a wedding dress!If your looking for a wedding venue to make your special day that little bit more memorable then this is the venue for you!

The food here is fairly good.Considering that the Port House is run by a catering company, it is surprising that things don't get done right all the time. The staff seem generally uninterested in customers who walk in the door.It does seem like this is a catering company's headquarters and kitchen, with their events spaces on site, which can be used by passers by who will be served if the staff have the time or inclination. If they serve you here, the food is quite good, however there have been a couple of times where I have come here and been told that it isn't possible to serve food due to the chefs being caught up with events elsewhere, or as I got told today "it will take me half an hour to find a chef who can cook at the moment".TLDR: Go to Wetherspoons (33a, The Boardwalk - just down the boardwalk on the right).

I had my wedding reception at the Port house in 2012. The venue was stunning and staff superb. The food was amazing. We had such a magical day :)

Makes a nice change from a pub No frills but good quality sandwiches at reasonable prices served with a smile

As a boat holder on the Marina my husband & I try and pop into The Port house for at least a bottle of wine/ beer as we arrive on a Friday evening as we have usually been travelling about 3 hours so always a friendly welcome. Have taken friends/ family for breakfast looking out at the magnificent boats on Marina in the summer which is superb. Also we have eaten at night which is also good. Limited choice on menu and as others have commented on No sea food which is disappointing. BUT , Great place for a quieter evening and good service.

Had a lovely lunch at The Port House, beautiful view of the marina even in a soggy summer day & food was wonderful. Staff were very helpful & chatty making us feel very welcome.

The Port House used to be for the select few, namely boat owners. It has now been taken over by the Vanilla Group and opened up to all. If you want a quieter venue than the normal madness of Port Solent this is for you. It had only been open for a couple of weeks when I visited and I don't think people have realised it is open to passers by,so I was the only diner. The welcome was warm, the service friendly and the food divine. Whether you want breakfast, tea and cake, a glass of wine or something more substantial they offer a good selection. This venue deserves to be popular and I don't doubt once word gets out that it won't be. Get in while you can. They also offer a wedding/party venue
