Poppins Cafe in Rother

Been there a few times. All good except a staff member cooking had his mask under his chin. He coughed and wiped his nose on his hand a few times. We'd already eaten so am hoping we'll be ok. Come on guys, the place was full, you have a great place it's a shame to drop the standards so blatantly. Food hygiene laws guys...... it's in the book 'better food better business'

Someone said the staff are rude, rubbish. They also said the drinks were cold. That's rubbish too. We go there a lot, my granddaughter's fave place.

Cheap and cheerful fast food. Reasonable breakfast cooked quickly. It’s casual. It’s nice, it’s not fine dining but when you’re hungry and need a fry up it’s a must!

Visited for a drink mid-morning where we sat outside. Coffee is nice However they are not operating any policy with regard to track and trace for customers - thats the 2nd time we have noticed that recently, so will be the last time as well

Good to see waiters wearing face visors since the do get close to customers. They failed to collect contact details for Test & Trace. Contactless payment, but only for purchases over £5. It's a clean cafe with well spaced tables.Standard cafe food at reasonable prices. My score of 4 is a reflection of it being a safe place to visit at the moment.

This place is very clean with very friendly helpful service, food is good and reasonably priced.Always cooked fresh to order, nothing seems to much trouble!

Tried the Toasted sandwiches here which were absolutely delicious. The quality of food here is always superb. The staff are lovely, most especially the Manager Feti and Waitress Leman. Very friendly, welcoming and always smiling. The atmosphere here is very relaxed, the restaurant very clean and always tidy. Very well recommended

I went in for a coffee yesterday. Nice and clean. Friendly staff. And really nice hot latte. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Not eaten there but looks nice.

Basic cafe which is decent if you're after a quick bite to eat. Good choice on the menu, decent price, quick service and very clean.

Greeted on arrival, lots of different breakfasts to choose from, order by number, freshly cooked and hot which is always good, such good value.

Was here this morning with a friend and it was very nice find. Very clean. Very efficient. Polite staff and nice food. And an amazing cup of tea. Although I’d of liked a putt not just a mug. Very nice will go back.

It's a clean cafe with friendly staff. A standard, reasonably priced menu, but the place lacks any atmosphere. A bit like a Macdonalds, but with proper plates, knives and forks.

pop in for lunch,place is lovely and clean,service good,as for the food,well if you like salty food then your be ok,lucky we didnt add salt before we started to eat as if we did it would have been uneatable,bacon really salty plus way over cooked,tough as old boots,daughter said it needed a chainsaw lol,cuppa was good,prices not too bad

A great place to visit either for just a coffee or a full meal you will be made to feel welcome, No stairs so great for those not so mobile, food is always freshly cooked and service is second to none,great food at great prices.

We have been frequent vistors to this cafe and usually the service is very good.However today we called in for a coffee and sat at at table and were acknowledge by a passing waiter as we sat down. We were then ignored for approximately 10 minutes, trying to attact attention, so we changed table in the hope that it would inspire someone to take our order. A waiter came over and cleared the table and I explained that we had changed table and were waiting to order. No acknowledgement at all from him, we might as well have not been sitting there. After another 10 minutes we called him over and explained that we were still waiting, but he did not say a word but carried on clearing other tables. No further action from any of the staff! Admittedly they were busy but not too busy to serve a least four other tables to customers who came in after us. We left, probably not to return again, as there are many other establishments in Bexhill who appreciate their customers

Nice food quick service! Clean and comfortable a burger with a real plate, knife and fork not a horrible cardboard box like some places.

What the he'll has happen to this place staff not attentive don't speak to you when you pay the bill I had to ask him how much after he put everything through just stood there in not a mind reader food was crap I won't go back

Decent fried breakfast, good portion size, can’t complain. Friendly staff, large restaurant, plenty of seats!

We tried to eat here this weekend but despite claiming so on other web sites this place is NOT dog friendly so we had to leave.

Called in here for a coffee and it was very nice, staff seemed very friendly with quick service. Would go again. Toilets nice and clean too.

It's what you expect. Cheap eats, decent portions and simple fare. Would recommend to those on a budget, but not those with a palate that is used to the finer things in life. Service is good, interior is pleasant.

Came here for an all day breakfast with the family on Mother’s Day as a little treat. The food was lovely and so was the service but it took a long time to get our food. It was very busy so this was understandable but I feel that someone could have explained the wait to us. This hasn’t put us off coming back.

Poppedin (see what I did there) for brekkie. Really impressed quick service , immaculately clean and nice food. Staff were friendly and efficient. Highly recommend a visit. Dont feel constrained by the ample menu they will cook any combo for you

Enjoyed breakfast and a coffee here today, served by friendly staff very quickly, food was served quickly and hot, good value for money.

I ended up in Poppins Bexhill against my better judgement.

Good food well cooked at a reasonable price. We found the staff to be polite and helpful. service was prompt, did not have to wait long for the food to arrive. Verey good selection on the menu.

We came across the poppins cafe in Bexhill by chance and wasn’t disappointed. It is a large, airy space. Good honest food at a reasonable price and great service. I just wished they would accommodate large group bookings as we were looking for somewhere to have lunch at a future date for a group of elderly people.

I particularly enjoy the superb all-day breakfast (late breakfast special) in Poppins. The food is always well prepared, with wholesome ingredients; the service is excellent, and the restaurant is spotlessly clean. The bonus is the fried bread - I know of no other restaurant serving this breakfast delight!

This is about the forth occasion I have visited Poppins in Bexhill and each time I am amazed at the prompt friendly service, the cleanliness of the restaurant and the gleaming floor. They all work very hard and provide the kind of service not usually found outside of silver service restaurants. And the prices are very good! A firm favourite

An unpretentious fast food outlet with decent meals at low prices. On our travels we called in here for a quick lunch. Although this is a no frills kind of place it is clean and the service was exceptionally friendly and helpful. While not a gourmet's delight, the meals were tasty with good portions.

Have been many times, always a great breakfast, our weekend treat when in town, the staff are always friendly and the restaurant is spotlessly clean

This place is always smart and clean with good service. I enjoy the coffee with the filter on top of the cup.

A fast food type establishment with the service to match. Very friendly staff and excellent service. I highly reccomend their Brunch.

Not posh nosh - all day breakfasts and pretty much everything with chips, but the latter are very good and the meals are very good value.

Been here twice recently, hoping to go again tomorrow,weather permitting. Both times I had the veggie breakfast, toast, beans, tomato, fried egg and veggie grill, delicious and hot and only £4.80. friendly staff, very clean cafe and always busy. Definitely recommend. 😁

Promptly served and fairly priced full English. Nice quality bacon and sausage. Decent filter coffee. Spotlessly clean loos. They appear to genuinely care about their elderly customers too, very nice to see this

We always have lunch in Poppins when we visit Bexhill. The service is good - so nice to be waited on. The quality of the food is very good. A large restaurant so always able to get a table.

A short stop at poppins was all that was needed to fill me up. A clean and friendly cafe with quick service and an uncluttered menu. Sit, order and eat, how easy can it get? Give the guys at poppins a try. K:))

I ordered a knickerbocker glory and a Coca-Cola, the waiter was polite and the items were brought promptly. This is a reasonably priced establishment but decidedly no frills, the cafe is large and was fairly busy. The tables and decor etc are very generic and lacking character but clean and in good order - apart from the ceiling which has several water stains on it.

I was early so the staff were still cleaning, the tables and laminated menus were all cleaned, a very good sign. My breakfast was ordered and served promptly by the friendly and happy staff. A clean and inviting restaurant easy to find, well worth a visit.

Fuimos allí a la hora de comer y nos sentamos afuera con nuestro perro. Las comidas eran baratas y de un nivel razonable. El camarero era educado y servicial y el servicio bueno. Tuve tarta y patatas fritas y mi esposa tuvo una hamburguesa y patatas fritas, cada uno tenía un refresco y la factura era de alrededor de 14 libras así que fue una buena relación calidad-precio. Hay buenos asientos en el interior y los baños están limpios, iría de nuevo y recomienda este café si tienes un presupuesto ajustado.

Tuve una baguette con queso y tomate pan era cálido, degustación genial, mi amigo tenía un breakfastwhich parecía agradable dijo que sabía muy bien, estaba muy bien presentada.

Es un típico café barato y alegre. Servicio rápido, comida rápida. Nada especial, pero un buen lugar para una tienda mediana.

La semana pasada visité la cafetería, para tomar un café, mientras espera por los bancos. Muchos asientos disponibles. Orden tomadas rápidamente y no esperar demasiado tiempo para conseguir personal agradable.

Visited with my son and friends for lunch. Quite busy. Chose eggs and bacon with sausage and chips.Son and friends chose burgers with chips . My son said it was one of the best burgers he's ever eaten. My egg and bacon meal was rather small for the price and bland in taste. A chocolate milkshake was ordered and was very watery and didn't taste good. Quite expensive for a cafe lunchtime meal . Won't rush back.

Excellent friendly service and efficient staff we didn't have to wait long before being served. Took in my mother who is in a wheelchair lots of space for seating her and us

We eat in here when we come to visit relatives and the food is always quick, good quality and cheap. The staff, too are friendly and helpful. Ok so it's not posh, the food isn't sophisticated or fine dining but to be honest it makes a nice change to have "normal", plain food or a good fry-up. You get what you pay for and the place is always crowded. If you don't like it there are lots of other places to go to.

Popped in for quick lunch. Wish I didn't bother. Food was disgusting, I had tuna jacket potato. Coffee was horrible.

A really nice breakfast with a great and extremely speedy service. A good selection of food for all meals. Would recommend.

There's some people on here with very low standards. Quick lunch, but cutting down on carbs so omelette and salad plus a cup of tea. Tea was a cup of hot water plus a tea bag and a little jug of milk. Omelette flat, totally unseasoned, cooked to the point where you could use it as a frisbee. Salad just some shredded iceberg, few slices of cucumber, dollop of catering slaw, two mini slices of beetroot and grated carrot. And tasteless tomato, but I don't like cold tomatoes. All of it must have come out of Tupperware catering cartons. I suppose there are people out there who just want simple food as served up by their mother in the 1950s when omelettes were haut cuisine in post-war Britain. It is Bexhill after all. And they are clearly doing a trade. But wish I'd gone to Subway instead.

We go there about 4 times a week, their coffee is the best we have tried in the town, you can sit iinside or outside, the staff are friendly and the service is good, can recommend it to everyone.

Have been here a few times and always have such a lovely meal. The menu is huge, so much to choose from and such delicious sweets.The Cherry Pancakes a particular favourite, Delicious!

Clean and tidy Cafe with friendly and prompt staff, food is cooked quickly and comes to your table hot. Good portion sizes and the staff change anything on the plate that you don't like. One thing we did notice was they charge 2.40 for a basic milkshake i.e. a yazoo thats frothed up a bit,other than that the prices are good for what you get

We ate breakfast here as we tend to like Poppins cafes. It was very clean, service prompt and friendly, food very nice and very reasonably priced. Overall, very nice indeed.

We went in for a roast dinner as it was advertised outside on a board. We were offered roast chicken which arrived quite quickly. The food was okay but not really a roast dinner as such and the portions were on the smaller side. We were still hungry so we had a pudding which was nice with pancakes and ice cream.If you want a quick reasonably priced meal this is the place. If you want a decent-sized roast dinner try somewhere else!

Lovely staff, lovely food, lovely service! Good prices and lots to choose from. My daughters favourite place for milkshakes! Cannot complain at all!!

I used poppins all the time but 2 of the staff left & it wasn't the same when they had gone it wasn't so friendly. Food wasn't as good either & drinks rather expensive

There are lots of good quality cafe - coffee shops in Bexhill sadly this isn't one of them I'm not saying the decor or seating arrangements aren't good it's more than adequate, but the food is just awful, cheap nasty & quite frankly gopping. save your money and spend it somewhere else.

Have been to this restaurant a few times it is clean the staff are friendly .The food is average ,plain but cheap so you get what you pay for .

Met early today for a family breakfast. Plenty of space and easy access meant there was no bother getting inside with a baby buggy and a mobility scooter. Liked the fact that there is an open kitchen so you can see what they are cooking. Place was spotlessly clean, with attentive and friendly staff who served our drinks and then added to the order once we had all arrived. Food was freshly cooked, tasty and very plentiful, as well as reasonably priced. The location makes it an easy meeting place in town.

If you want chips, with anything, this is the place! Its large and spacious, friendly , quick service and food is consistently good.

This restaurant may look rather plain and does lack ambiance, but there is an excellent menu with tasty plain food. The service is very good. A good family restaurant, or somewhere to drop in for morning coffee and cake or afternoon tea.

didnt enjoy our visit here the staff are rude and the drinks barely hot. we didnt eat just had a hot chocolate and some coffees, wouldnt advise a visit to anyone.

Called in here to shelter from the recent named storm, and ordered a filter coffee. Never again, it tasted of absolutely nothing. Would not visit again. In fairness, its very clean in here. Also noticed on the menus there is way too much choice, it needs whittling down.

Walked along the seafront into Bexhill and wanted a late breakfast. Settled for poppins as it looked busy and the breakfast menu was what we wanted. Good clean bright restaurant with plenty of seating well laid out. We ordered the full breakfast which came up piping hot and a good plateful with toast, butter and marmalade on the side along with a mug of tea. It would have been nice to have been given an extra knife each for buttering the toast as we had to keep cleaning the knife that was being used for the breakfast. Would have also preferred a pot of tea rather than a mug of hot water with a teabag in it. However we will be visiting again when in Bexhill.

The food is amazing anything u want salads jackets omelettes burgers you name it very quick service very clean and waiters have great smiles!

With 2 adults and a small child , we had a very good lunch with very pleasant staff at a very reasonable rate. Also one can just pop in for a drink nice coffee tea or hot chocolate, they are also very willing to give one a glass of water.

Visited for a cooked breakfast. Long wait for food. Had to ask when it was coming. Service was grumpy, probably as we had complained.Food was very nice however. Probably wouldn't go there again as there are more welcoming places around to eat.

Called in here with my daughter and granddaughter for a late lunch ( it was 430pm and they close at 530pm ). Although it was the last hour of trading, the staff were bright and cheery and our order of two sirloin steaks and one cheeseburger was delivered without delay. I have to say that the steaks were great, as was all the food. I was impressed with the cheeriness of the staff and their obvious efforts in keeping the restaurant clean which it indeed was. We have been here before during much busier periods and it was impossible to get a table at that time so that must speaks volumes for its popularity.

Poppins has amazing staff and amazing food! The service is always super quick and the portions are perfect! There plenty of variety and definitely a place for the whole family! 100% recommend!

Went here for a birthday meal what a lovely clean and friendly establishment. It's actually imaculat which is rare in this day and age. All food is prepared right in front of you. And a lovely location to. Will be back.

Sort of Wimpey fast food outlet where everything is a bit ptasticcy, the menus, tables, seats, the food and some of the staff. OK if everywhere else is shut

Another great meal at Poppins with excellent quality food and great service as always.We often come here with family and always enjoy the food. If you come between 1-2pm it can be very busy and you may have a slightly longer wait to be served/for your food, though it is worth it when it arrives and the staff are always very welcoming, which is why we keep returning.

Visited this cafe twice once for a snack and the second for an early evening meal on both occasions the meals were presented very well and quickly.The cafe was very clean in all areas. Had various sizes of tables with both fixed seating a moveable chairs which is good for those of us that are on the large side.Although I was not with any children judging by the number of families with children of various ages it appeared to be child friendly and with a good children's menu choice.Would visit this restaurant again next time we are in the area. If the standard of the cafe in Bexhill is repeated throughout all their locations I would say that you won't go wrong in visiting any of their cafes.

Been here twiceOnce just to have a cold drink.I ordered a banana milkshake waited less than 5 minutes and it was device. I have been here to eat and had cheeseburger and chips both of which were freshly cooked and tasted greatHighly recommend

Stopped here for lunch. The kids both had chicken curry (very mild) with rice and a smallish naan bread. My husband and I had jacket potatoes. The potatoes were a reasonable size and with a side salad. I had lots of tuna with only a small amount of mayonnaise (the way I like it). Staff were very friendly and although they were already nearly full at midday the service was very quick - both in taking the order and bringing the food. Good value for money and a wide ranging menu that should have something for everyone.

Having visited previously and given a fairly high review, I will admit to some puzzlement over the charges. Yesterday, I found out why. The person taking the order has to have the exact item ordered written down for them as so few of the staff are natural English speakers. I don't mean to sound racist, but there are communication problems!I ordered 2 children's meals (without beans, fortunately that's how they arrived) and 2 diet colas for the youngsters I had with me. Later I ordered 2 ice creams for them, however, we did not get what we ordered. The children were served adult drinks and sweets and we were charged for them. When I mentioned this at the till, I got a load of verbal abuse. Obviously, in whatever Eastern European country the staff come from the phrase "The customer is always right" does not exist. In addition to these four errors, I asked for apple pie and ice cream, when it arrived, although clearly written on the order slip, I was faced with an ocean of melting artificial cream that had never seen a freezer!A catalogue of errors that means none of my family (and I don't just refer to myself but daughter's, sons and their children who were users of this restaurant) will not be coming back!

Lots of choices of different cooked breakfasts, service was very quick and the food was very nice. Good portions and prices were good too. We think this has to be the cleanest restaurant we have ever been in. The tables were spotless, no dirty cutlery left lying around, and the floor was super polished, and the toilets were very clean. The only reason I have dropped them a point was because in the menu, it shows whole mushrooms, but when it came out, it was very finely chopped, which was a little disappointing.

Clean, relatively quick service restaurant modelled on the lines of Wimpy restaurants.Plenty of choice (perhaps too much) and plenty of food.Perfect for families with a reasonable children's menu. It's just a pity it's beans with everything!However, the acoustics leave a lot to be desired and the noise level can get a bit high, like a school dining hall!

Food is excellent, fast and was astounded by how clean everywhere was from floors to walls including the toilets. Staff very polite and tables cleaned as soon as you leave. Reasonably priced. Seems very poplar with the locals.

Perfect for families who are on a budget. The food is great, and comes in large portions, so make sure you are hungry! The pancakes are tasty. Great service, great food and quick staff.

Haven't really found anywhere else within the shopping area of Bexhill which caters for all tastes. So usually end up at Poppins, however we don't mind as it's a beautifully clean restaurant; very friendly & helpful staff and have always had a good meal here.

Stopped for a coffee with the wife I had a milk shake didn't eat but saw the food going out good portions for the money. Friendly staff recommended

Have been a few times to poppins , not by choice though ! There is nothing healthy on the expensive menu, feels like a wimpy bar inside , the baguettes always taste of old cooking oil for some reason ! So when I do have to go there I just stick to the expensive coffee.

dont agree with the comment made by (lizfelix8)comments at all i've never been told by any of the staff that the food is homemade when i asked them!! i feel that this review is total dishonest. nowhere on the menu does it state that the soup is homemade.. the lack of inteligence by the comment is evident with the comment of a 'tin of soup can be bought for £1' one should think about the other incuring costs such as what else is provided ie (bun&butter) its not the ingrediants that costs.. Also the comment refering to the restaurant being like an airport lounge must be a positive. the restaurant is clean spacious. totally love this place and love the food and thats that!

Ate in here today, have been a few times and normally 'ok'. Food is cheap, no quality at all. Staff were extremely rude when questioning our order after they got 2 out of 3 meals wrong. After this we will not be returning again. School dinners have better quality of food!

Ate in this restaurant recently, but although the standard of food was adequate, it was nothing special and that goes for the attitude of some of the staff!!Seating area was clean all around, but was similar to an airport departure lounge. The food was, as mentioned earlier, nothing special (the soup, for example, stated as homemade, but tasted as if it was tinned) and ny suspicions were confirmed recently, when one of the waiters was seen in a nearby supermarket, buying tins of soup, hot curry, seasoned chicken pieces! Prices are quite high and considering they get a lot of their food at competitive prices from a nearby competitively priced supermarket, they certainly have the cheek to pile on the cost of eg, a tin of soup costing under £1, (equivalent size of a bowl), they claim it is homemade and charge almost twice this amount. The same goes for their breaded chicken pieces, as these have also been seen to be purchased at a nearby, competitively priced supermarket.Wont bother going there again, as there are other nicer/friendlier cafes/restaurants in Bexhill, who at least are honest in claiming their food is homemade, whereas Poppins are ripping off their customers,, by saying their food is homemade, thereby making a nice little profit when it's just tinned/pre-cooked.

Me and my family come here quite often because of the range of food they serve. It's very clean and the staff always try their best even if they can get quite busy.

Visited this cafe for lunch on Tuesday 30 December.We ordered our lunch and drinks .The drinks cam e within 5 mins the food we had to wait for a good hour no explanations and then we were one meal short .By the time that came everyone else had finished just seems to have gone down hill since being taken over a while ago.
