Bexhill Shiplu Tandoori in Rother

Just had the buffet and was so surprised that it was so good. Have been to nearly all in Hastings and Bexhill and this is the best. Well done to all od front of house staff and especially those in the kitchen 👏

Ordered a takeaway, was dubious as have had the previous owners delivery for the last 30 years. Plus doing their advertising before the Internet when we use to get the Friday ads through the door lol must say, they didn't fail me. I can highly recommend, hope they don't change .

We recently had our team meal at the Shiplu and it was brilliant! Staff were so attentive and great at accommodating any dietary requirements. The buffet they did for us was delicious with an amazing selection of different dishes which everyone enjoyed. Thank you so much we will definitely be back again!

My weekend visit to Bexhill was fantastic, sunny weather and Best thing we had a wonderful meal at Shiplu Tandoori , Staff are very friendly and attentive.Jalfrezi was freshly cooked & Naan was nice and soft , Portion was perfect and food was tasty. Look forward to visiting again in summe. Highly recommended.Must try 👍

Shiplu under new management. We had fish curry which was very flavourful , mushroom fried rice was delicious, naan was perfect. Service was very attentive and friendly. Please disregard old bad reviews and give it a try , new management is doing a great job running this place.

We went in here for the first time having moved to Bexhill recently. The staff were very welcoming and we really enjoyed the food and will definitely be visiting again.

Best quality Indian food locally and always delivered either on time or a bit early. Also the best prices in town. Brilliant.

Guests had to reheat their food in the microwave. The rest of us endured lukewarm meals.

Came and wasn’t hot! Got a notification saying it’s been delivered and hasn’t had to ring the restaurant twice and they said should be 5 mins and when they dropped it off no smile and didn’t even speak to me! gave it to me didn’t ask for the 4 digit code! Won’t be ordering again

Lovely food! Great tasting food and still hot when arrived, which is a plus. Lamb very chewy however overall the dishes all tasted different and yummy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nice friendly restaurant with attentive staff and cater well for vegetarians. The vegetable samosas and mushroom biryani were delicious.

Great Service and amazing food.

At point of order, it said it would be 55 minutes (9pm). As time progressed, that adjusted to an arrival time of 21:15-21:35. The food arrived at 21:50 and was warm (at best). Late, watery, barely warm.

Portion sizes are great value for money. Arrived hot and so tasty! Highly recommend the honey masala!

Never disappoints, always lovely fresh food every time

Food was over 45 mins late from stated delivery time, no updates given, so in total 2 hrs from placing order to delivery (on a Monday night!). Called to find out where our food was, to be rudely told it was nearly there (another 20mins). When food arrived, the grease on the bag with the onion bhaji was literally dripping off the bag. Husband had lamb madras, which consisted of 4 pieces of lamb, the rest was sauce! Was totally disappointed, will never return and never recommend! Worst 40 odd quid I've ever spent!

The staff are friendly and chatty and made us feel welcome. Unfortunately, the food is not as good as it used to be. We have not been here for a few years and was really looking forward to a nice meal. It may be they have a new chef, but even the dishes taste different. We had chicken dishes, but we felt the chicken was very tough and not nice. So we left disappointed and won't be going back.

You cannot beat the value of this place! The banquet menu set price thing is amazing, you will do well to eat everything you get, it's a lot of food. Great atmosphere and restaurant. Great staff too.

Salad bag had to be thrown away as lettuce was brown. Madras was good with plenty of meat. Tried a new dish lots of meat too many whole olives and onions.keema rice good. Garlic nan could of done with more garlic as could barely taste it. No freebies

Came here for dinner they found me a table right away, drink came quickly and then food followed just now I like it no fuss !

This was the worst curry I’ve probably ever had - so bland and watery I could only eat a mouthful after waiting 90 mins.. very disappointing and sadly won’t order from here again. We have before and it was not this bad but won’t risk a repeat!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS ordered delivery through just eat, our order way accepted right away and we were given a time slot to arrive an hour later. We kept refreshing our delivery page and our order just sat at ‘preparing your order’ the entire time. It went one minute past our delivery slot and our order jumped the ‘ delivering your food’ slot and right to the ‘delivered’ slot We went outside to check our front door as we had received no knock on the door, no call, no text and just no attempt at delivery. We waited a few minutes and decided to call the restaurant. The most vile person answered the phone and changed his story 3 times over one phone call. Apparently the driver rung our door bell to no answer (we have no door bell), he then said the restaurant tried to call us while we’ve been staring at this phone for the last hour. Bit tricky to miss don’t you think? We then asked them to confirm the phone number they called and all of a sudden they never tried to call us they contacted just eat themselves and just eat tried to call us. We’ve had just eat contact us before on the same account and had no issue at all. The man then suggested ‘ come get it yourself then’. We said we don’t drive and the guy just laughed and said ‘ well what do you want me to do about it?’ He kept suggesting we drive over to collect the food and suggested we eat it cold because ‘ what’s the harm in eating cold food’ he said. We ordered chicken and you can’t cook chicken and leave it in a bag on a counter for at least an hour and expect the customer to eat it cold?? He then said he had a microwave upstairs so he could chuck it in there for us? Refused to recook and redeliver the food and wasn’t even attempting to reach a reasonable solution with us. What an absolute joke. Disgusting customer service Formal complaint has been admitted to just eat! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

Your website states that you are open for lunch on Sundays . I thought I had booked a table on line for 1-30 in the morning . Thus was not acknowledged . We turned up at 1-30pm to be told that you were not open till the evening . Even your website said you were open while we were being told you weren’t . Very unhappy as it was a birthday present ..What on earth is going on

Got there and they had sent my food else where and than I asked for a refund they than ignored me. I asked what was going on nothing than finally they said they had made a mistake but still refusing to give me a refund. They made the food fresh all over cooked and just not nice and to top it off I ordered mango chutney and it’s gone off looks like dish water !

Given the wrong order and as I was picking it up and travelling by the time I discovered it I was to far away to take it back. Although it was a more expensive order than the one I ordered everything was on the mild side and not what I eat at all. Spoke with the restaurant but as it cost more than my order there was no refund. It would have cost to go back Stuck with the order I tried each dish which had absolutely no flavour. Ended up throwing the whole thing in the bin. Not a great experience.

Driver couldn't find address ended up at Parkhurst Road which is down town by the time it got to us it was cold this happens everytime we order from Shiplu we'll be taking our custom elsewhere....not happy

Beautiful balance between heat and flavour; just as it should be. The Kashmiri rice was stunning and the paratha was perfect - so difficult to find these well done locally.

Great timing , came really early, great quality.

Food was horrible. We were overcharged. 15 of us and charged £30 for 1 popadom each and 90p each per dip per person. Menu is not clear on this and down as dips 90p each! . When I tried to pay my part of the bill he had a go saying I should have said from the start that we wanted to pay separately which we did. The guy refused to let me see the card machine to see what I was paying and said you’ll get your receipt when you pay. I ended up having a go and refusing to tap my card till I saw the price, So rude and told me not to be difficult. Two of us couldn’t eat the food as it was so bad. Kept bringing out extra food that we didn’t order. WAY overcharged. Very bad experience considering we had come from Ireland, Wales, Devon, Portsmouth plus other areas. Never again will we go there and really don’t recommend this place at all. Ruined our night. Awful 😡

Dined in! Absolutely dreadful. Food cold on most dishes we ordered. Shashlick not sizzling & could touch the griddle it’s served on. Had to send food back to be reheated. So bland too! Bottle beer was warm. Staff awful, so unhelpful and could not understand English. Got bill wrong. There was not an apology about the food. I would never go back! Such a rubbish evening caused by this Indian. Very expensive to what we got! Don’t bother! Definitely would NOT recommend!!!

Ordered takeaway and was very disappointed with the lamb chop main. Paid £12 and when opened the tray there was only 4 small lamb chops.

Onion bhaji incredibly bland and dripping in oil. Starter Mixed grill was 2 pieces of meat and 2 onion bhajis which was disappointing. Dupiaza tasty and naans were good.

Order arrived with no Naan, when called the restaurant they said they would send another within 20 minutes. Been over 30 and still waiting. The order contained 3 items, how can 1 of 3 be missing and no one notice before delivery?

Food was good, but used to like getting the extras like the wipes and the chocolates but not had them the last two orders, it just added a nice touch to your order but I guess they have stopped sending them with your order now.

It wasn’t very warm. I think they must have been waiting until the delivery time to deliver. I had to put it all in the microwave. The food was nice. Tho the nan was particularly cold and not really microwaveable.

Pity we didn't go with our instincts and pick another restaurant. Could just be a bad day or the wrong chef but the meal was a total disappointment. Food showed signs of having been prepared well before being used and the meat was very dry, poppadoms were soft. The whole meal was bland and lacked the usual tastes. Staff were polite but seemed to just go through the motions and showed very little pride in customer service. The whole experience was very bad and would not encourage us to return.

Huge portions, lots of dishes could be shared. They do offer take out boxes if you can't manage to eat it all. Fantastic service. Parking allocated in near by road.
