Poppies Garden Centre & Tea Room in Argyll & Bute

The actual garden centre was lovely! But when it came to the cafe, I have to say I was SHOCKED!! The young lady who greeted us was very rude and dismissive, it felt like we were an inconvenience to her! And as for the food, the chicken was drier than the desert and ruined my whole meal- the chips which were an added extra (£1) meant that I had 5 chips on my plate. Will NOT be back 🤬

Walked to Poppies from Oban. It was a fantastic place to rest and have a hearty breakfast before walking back. The hot chocolate was superb. The service by Lauren was excellent. Had the full Scottish Breakfast which was substantial and filling, with haggis, black pudding, eggs, flat sausage, bacon, mushrooms, beans and tomato. The garden centre and gift shop also good.

Fantastic stop for great food and superb coffee. It's an ideal location with great views to Dunstaffnage and Tralee. There's outside seating for warmer weather too. Lovely staff. Highly recommended.

Lovely wee cafe with nice homemade food and friendly staff. Nice selection of paninis, baked potato, soup and cakes. Nice atmosphere and lovely outside seating available. Also connected to a garden centre which is nice to look around

Great shoreside cafe just outside of town. Dine inside or out and enjoy the view out over the Loch and mountains either way. The food is simple but spectacular. Soup like yer granny made. Steak sandwiches like she only dreamt of. Great coffee and the cakes, oh the cakes! Is that a macaroon or a meringue? Naw yer right enough it's a meringue! They are exceptional and a signature of the café. By the time you have got to that stage you will have circulated the garden centre and gift shop. They to are just splendid to behold. Go now.. You will not be disappointed.

We went to Poppies for lunch. I had a delicious macaroni cheese and the hubster had the all day breakfast. The service was excellent and the staff couldn't be nicer, especially Mark, our server. All around us people were eating and the meals looked appetising and interesting. I would highly recommend this as a place to visit. The attached shop is excellent and the views outside are amazing.

Nice setting, lovely gift and garden shop. Very nice staff. Only thing that lets them down is the food. Macaroni Cheese very runny and not cheesy.

This is a lovely place to stop for a coffee & cake/scone or bacon roll. We visited on our way to our holiday near Oban and it was so good, we called in on the way back. There's also a gift shop with lots of nice things to buy. The service is very good. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The view from the cafe is amazing. It's a good place to visit.

Service sometimes a little slow in the cafe but food and drink always excellent. Shop has lots of nice items especially if looking for a nice gift for someone

Visited with friends. Had a lovely lunch and coffee. Service was quick and attentive. The place has changed since our last visit with lots of beautiful Christmas decorations and a deli! Have brought cheeses home to enjoy. Will be returning as soon as we can!

Lovely restaurant/café on a small garden centre with super views over the loch. Good quality food and amazing chai latté! Spotlessly clean and friendly staff.

The coffee shop is an excellent break from the road. Try the caramel shortbread or a slice of Victoria Sponge.

Excellent cafe and garden centre.

This is a really nice garden centre, shop and cafe. Plenty of car parking with access to the pebble beach and lovely views across the bay. The shop has some marvellous products which are well spaced out and well decorated to make the shopping experience more enjoyable. I did not use the cafe this visit but it does have a toilet if needed. All the staff are polite and friendly and happy to help with any enquiry. There is a reasonable selection of garden products and plants and definitely recommended for a visit.

Love to visit Poppies when we are in the area. Great cafe serving drinks, snacks and meals. Also fab garden centre and shop.

Stopped for breakfast on our way out of Oban. Met by a pleasant young server who showed us to our table. I had a full breakfast, my wife had salmon and avocado both were excellent and filling. Very reasonable prices and a great selection of bakery products. We will definitely be back .

Entering Poppies was a beautiful experience. The decor and the spicy scents were a serendipitous surprise. The café is right at the back but was still easily accessible by wheelchair. The staff were welcoming and courteous. The food and drinks were delicious and immensely enjoyed. We hope to visit again very soon.

Dont be fooled by the sign on the road, Poppies is so much more than a garden centre, lovely gifts and the food was lovely. Don't drive by, pop in.

We visit Poppies every year as very much a favourite place to stop for a light lunch. We always have the seafood platter which is delicious . Lovely weather this year so we were able to sit outside and enjoy the scenic views. Really nice service and lovely shop and garden centre to browse. Recommend!

Overpriced for what you get. Seafood platter was nice but only got 3 small bits of bread and a very small salad. Chicken ceaser salad is mostly lettuce in a tiny bowl would have been lucky if there was 6 small pieces of chicken very disappointing! At nearly £30 for the 2 dishes and 2 drinks its certainly not cheap! Service was pleasant but unfortunately wouldn't stop again.

We went too this cafe today food was excellent service second to none. The young boys serving us were very polite and friendly, my friends husband couldn’t drink out of a cup as he finds it difficult to hold it as he has MS asked for a mug instead young boy came across and asked if we would all like mugs very rare this happens. The food was of an excellent quality and very tasty. Asked to speak to the manager his face was a picture as he came across thinking we were going to complain then grinned widely when we said how fantastic his staff were. Would definitely recommend this place. The 2 Geordies and 2 Scousers from Durham and St Helens

We had seen the roadside sign for this garden centre and decided to investigate further, we were not disappointed. A little treasure trove of goods to buy and a friendly welcome. We went in the cafe too and the mushroom soup was delicious. What a beautiful view to enjoy while eating too!

Just love this little cafe. Lovely fresh food and a bustling atmosphere make it a great place to socialise over a coffee and some lunch.

Brilliant cafe, super staff, great service and amazing view.

Delightful location right on the beach by the Loch. Food is marvellous and service lead by Mark and Olivia was exceptional without being intrusive. Having recommended the Tomato soup (of the day) it was marvellous, possibly the best you will taste. The open steak sandwich (splendiferous as usual) was equalled by the burgers, kilted with haggis in one case. Scone and Salmon. Wow! Don't miss this place.

Popped in for a wee look around shop and for breakfast as we always visit when on holiday in area Must say it just gets better,shop and garden centre are lovely, lots of beautiful paintings,furniture, garden accessories etc ,staff are always super friendly and polite. Breakfast was outstanding piping hot and obviously freshly cooked ,poached eggs were perfect,again service was excellent can't wait to return highly recommend.

Everyone had breakfast, all the fried eggs were hard and not runny, beans stone cold, so was the sausage, not what you'd expect after waiting 45 mins for it to arrive! Nobody asked how our food was to complain, neither did they ask when we paid, shall not recommend to fellow tourists on our site

Conviently located just off the A85 approximately 6 miles outside of Oban. Great little setup with garden centre, stylish shop selling interior furnishings, crafts & gifts. Cafe with interior and exterior covered seating area looking out over the water and the marina. Large selection from breakfast options to sandwiches, toasties, coffees and cakes. Would recommend a large scottish breakfast and cappuccino, definitely a favourite of mine. Pricing is slightly higher than other cafes however quality of products used show why the prices are higher.

Just stopped here for a coffee and a cake but it's a splendid place with superb views over the loch. As you walk through to the cafe you seem to pass through Aladdin's Cave, then an antique shop and finally a normal garden centre. All sorts of varied stuff for sale. Wish we had had longer to browse. Large car park. Friendly staff.

Would not recommend. Veggie burger was extremely average and overpriced since it didn’t include any fries but had a few salad leaves scattered on a plate instead. The two stars are solely for the service which was good.

Very cute store with TONS of cute items, lotions, jewelry, art, etc. and that is even before the cafe! At the cafe, tons of desserts - huge sizes.
