Food very quick to table. Eric (waiter) EXCELLENT! Mgr. Came by to check on us, thank you. We had the roast beef and the ribs, yum! Creamed spinach is good, try it! Too full for dessert, took it back with us. GOTTA TRY THIS PLACE! WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

This was one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had with such a large group. Our server Eric was amazing. He knew the menu very well, was patient when taking our orders and answering questions and very attentive overall. The quotes on the walls are very thought provoking. The food was also perfectly prepared. If I lived here I would be a regular .

All food was great! We were visiting on my kids spring break and by far the only restaurant with great food that we’ve tried while in Williamsburg. Service was great too. Learning while eating is a plus! Will definitely recommend!

We are visiting from Columbus Ohio and we have eaten here twice. It was all fantastic even at dinner rush on Friday.

I rated this a 1 because of the waiter! Everything was great! The food, the owner came and introduced himself and even at 1st the waiter was excellent. However, as we left the waiter ran out behind us and didn't even talk to me, talked to my kids about a tip and how much he makes and we didn't tip him and he served us. Excuse me! Very rude when the tips were left with a card! And why not complain to the adults instead of my children! Very rude and disrespectful! Tips are hit and miss. He chose his career choice, not my family and I. I did not appreciate it at all. The waiter had dark hair and he had an Italian accent!

100% the best vegan food in the area. husband and i spent the weekend at williamsburg and ate lunch at fft before we left - totally should’ve just eaten there for all our meals instead of trying to hit up different spots in town. so many options, incredible service.

Great place nice and friendly people

The manager was very nice. Drinks were great. Meatloaf was well seasoned. Not too impressed with the pot roast but the manager made me happy!

This restaurant was recommended by hotel staff. I am so glad we listened. By far the best dining experience we have had in a very long time! The quality of the food is beyond compare. It is obvious they use only the best ingredients. And- as a vegetarian- I was thrilled to have a great selection! We had great conversations with the staff and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We are only in town for 4 days and we're looking at dining options before eating here. We've decided we are coming back again, we loved it so much. Please- do yourself a favor and give it a try. I had a delicious yellow fin tuna salad here recently. The salad ingredients were fresh and well put together. My waitress Brandi was attentive and friendly. The kitchen was much faster than I expected on a busy night as well. Line was out the door the entire time I was there. This is the place to be.

My family had such a great meal this evening! Not only was the food absolutely delicious, but the waitress and even the owner bent over backwards to accommodate my daughter's multiple food allergies. We were so touched by their care and solicitude for her - thank you!! I highly recommend this restaurant, not just for the great food and atmosphere, but also for those with food allergies and sensitivities. They handle gluten-free accomodations, as well as many other food allergies, really well. It's a treat for my family to go out to dinner and have such a wonderful experience!

We enjoyed our dinner last night. Everything was wonderful. We can't wait to go back.

Last minute dinner pick while we were visiting Williamsburg. A little busy but the wait wasn’t bad. Hostesses were friendly, Eshaun was a wonderful server, and the food runners were great as well. Really enjoyed the food and drinks. ☻

Food is fairly mediocre. Service was good. Also, for those who may find this helpful, there’s Ron DeSantis’ book displayed in the waiting area.

The food was wonderful! My party had the Pad Thai, salmon, and filet and it was all wonderful. The service was excellent. You didn’t have to wait long for anything and they were quick to refill drinks. Next time we are in Williamsburg, we are coming back.

By far the best restaurant we ate at on our recent trip to Williamsburg. The food was amazing as well as the service! The decor was great and we had fun reading all the quotes on the walls. It might seem a little pricey at first but given the quality of food you will quickly realize this place is a bargain.

Great local, historically driven and thought drive place with kind workers. Food was delicious Bread was brought to the table prior to the meal arriving (which came quickly.) Tasks cards were placed on each table for diners to read and discuss during their meal (more places should have these.)

My family and I love this place. It's half the reason we visit Williamsburg several times a year. The vegan food is every bit as excellent as the meat dishes. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. We'll be back!

Great place to have a great dinner. Food was fantastic. Service phenomenal. Definitely will be going back when I'm in williamsburg. It's a little pricey, but good and service is worth it. Not a tourist trap, but a great place to eat and have a good time. Highly recommend.

Vegetarian food was amazing. Chili, eggplant, fish, Mac & Trees, pasta, cocktails, creme brulee. Only the squash wasn't to everyone's taste. But overall a wonderful experience - which is high marks for foodies!

Everything about this restaurant was great. I ordered a lump of crab and sweet potatoes fries and outstanding broccoli!! My husbands food was also outstanding!

I’ve never had a bad meal or service here. My family and I have eaten here several times when visiting Williamsburg, but this time I was solo. I did not feel out of place eating alone, and the server was very attentive.

Extremely well executed salads and filet(tenderloin). Impossible (non-meat) burger, shrimp po' boy, and eggplant parmesan all excellant. Service top notch and timely. Felt neither rushed nor waiting. Enjoyable decor, quotes, and table games. Gerolsteiner water is a nice touch. Never disappoints. Burger is also good.

Quite honestly this just became my favorite Williamsburg restaurant. Both appetizers and entrees were superb. Highly recommended, but prepare to wait, or,even better, just eat at the bar. Okay... change 1... this is my favorite restaurant period...well worth the drive from Hampton...

I am raving about this place! We went today after it being recommended twice by family in town. I could have ate my meal twice in one day. The food was soooo good. Bread was even good for the table. 5 stars!!!

Food was excellent and the service was top-notch. The only thing was the water that was served wasn't very good had to request bottled water. Certainly will be back can't wait to try other things on the menu.

My family and I frequent this restaurant after our Busch Garden trips. Food for thought has the best kids' menu out! You get more than just the typical cheeseburger or chicken nuggets. Their food & service are always amazing!

This place if fabulous! The Thai with shrimp was amazing. My husband had the filet and crab cake and it was cooked to perfection. Steak melted in your mouth and the crab cake was packed with crab and little filler. The service was outstanding. We started with a beer flight and ahi tuna which as you can see included a delicious and generous portion. The beers were nice and we both found a favorite. Reasonably priced for the amount of food you get and quality. We will definitely be back.

Such a wonderful surprise - Food For Thought. On this Saturday excursion, my wife and I found ourselves in Williamsburg. Where should we have lunch? Google Maps suggested this restaurant. The photos certainly did not convey the eclectic atmosphere of this intriguing restaurant. I did not fully get the meaning of "Food For Thought" on the search results-actually I thought it suggested the entrees might be ultra health oriented. But no, theme is historical quotes-past and present-from American icons. I'll add that there was even a quote from Jedi Master Yoda displayed on the wall, I think you know which one. So, this theme is very appropriate in Williamsburg. Food - My wife ordered a grilled cheese and I had a Shrimp Po-Boy. The buns on both of these sandwiches suggested they were made in-house. I would say the grilled cheese was more like a burger and that's a good thing. We asked the manager about the buns when she performed her courtesy visit to our table, she said they were not only they fresh complimentary cornbread served to every guest. I also asked the manager how long the restaurant has been open. I was amazed that it has been open for 19 years. There is no doubt that we will return to this wonderful restaurant. I so much would like another location in Virginia Beach where I live, but I certainly can appreciate this niche restaurant as a destination for weekend travel.

Food for Thought is probably the #1 restaurant to go to in Williamsburg. The food is always delicious with lots of variety for everyone (including vegetarian). The service is always speedy too. This visit we were in and out with a delicious dinner in just under an hour. Highly recommend call ahead seating. It is not a reservation (they don't take them) but gets you to the top of the wait list. Make sure you call ahead at least one hour before arrival to see if it is available for your time frame.

Paper tablecloth and top notch food!

Love the quotes! The appetizer "shrimp boat" was fabulous! The flight of beers was very tasty and the house chardonnay was quite delicious! The entrees were equally good. It food came quickly and hot. This restaurant is still amazing 20 years later.

The size of the salmon portion could have been a little larger. Everything was good very enjoyable evening

I have to say this is my favorite restaurant in town. The customer service is A1 the food has never disappointed me. The wait is worth it.

As others have said, the atmosphere is very nice with historic people’s lives on large posters interspersed with lovely proactive liberal words for living a healthy life. Corn bread made from sweet potato’s tasted weird and was not good. The beet salad was great. The panko halibut, while a huge portion, was dry as was my wife’s fish and chips. Expensive too.Would not go back.

Delicious food in a thoughtful and inspiring environment, with quotes and stories coveringthe walls. Our meals were gluten-free and excellent. The shrimp and grits were a favorite. Will be back to try the much lauded Grandma's meatloaf. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Parking is tricky.

This place has it all, not much more to be said. Awesome food, awesome service, really cool atmosphere... I've been twice and have been blown away both times.

Very good place for family style lunch. Very generous serving for the price! The meatloaf was a little disappointing, but maybe because we're not used to the regional seasoning. The ribs were deliciously soft and delectable. Would highly recommend!

Excellent food, amazing and quick service. A must try if you're visiting the Williamsburg area. The flavors will take you back to your childhood waiting for Grandma to finish cooking. The quotes and literature were very entertaining during the short wait. The hostess checked in often and made certain our glasses were filled. Customer service done right! Well done!

I decided to "Thai One On" and am glad that I did - this is a delicious Pad Thai entree with the heat ramped up to a perfect level. Five stars!

Service was Excellent. Food was out quickly. Liked meatloaf, loved cream spinach, disappointed in mashed potatoes. My wife had the chicken cutlet with mushroom gravy. I should have gotten that with the Jasmine Rice.

Bailey was a great waitress and very friendly. The assistant manager checked in with each table shortly after the food was delivered to ensure it was to the guests liking.

Best vegan food in Williamsburg!!

Excellent meal! We had shrimp and grits and spaghetti squash with garlic sauce. Their rolls are absolutely fabulous. We had a hot bread pudding for dessert and it was perfect! Would come back here food prices were a bit pricey. Shrimp and grits was $25, good price would have been $18. But everything tasted fresh.

Menu is a thing of beauty to behold. I had the ahi tuna salad and it was amazing.

Took me a few minutes to understand why they decorated the restaurant with all these sayings (duh, Food for Thought!).Servings were large, real comfort food. Our waitress was great....cheerful and attentive. Priced reasonably too.

The food was delicious. The shrimp boat was great. My salad was fresh and crisp. The jerk chicken was moist and seasoned well. The pot roast was tender and flavorful. Service was excellent, fast and friendly. Finally, the seasonal drinks were amazing.

Pistachio crusted chicken breast over the excellent mash potatoes with mushroom sauce made to perfection. Great flourless chocolate cake…perfect mix for the taste buds …not too sweet not too dark. 4 thumbs up.

This is a neat restaurant. I ordered the fall of the bone ribs, fries, and broccoli. The food tastes delicious, and the portions were rather sizable. The server was pleasant and attentive. Oh, and their complimentary bread rolls and corn breads are way tasty.

Delightful atmosphere and delicious food!

This is such a nice family restaurant. The food was so yummy and the portions were generous. The bread was so appreciated as we had been walking around Colonial Williamsburg looking at the decorations and we all were starving! The owner couldn't have been nicer. He was at the restaurant on Christmas Eve which reflects the dedication of the staff and family. You won't be disappointed!

Unbelievable amount of vegetarian options, and vegan options, the bar had some delicious drinks to enjoy. I recommend the van Gogh Martini if you like your espresso, the weight staff was absolutely delightful. I put this on my most recommended list.

Favorite place to eat! Always enjoy the experience every time we visit!

Six of us ate here and 5 of 6 dishes were said to have been delicious. I had the Caribbean Jerk Chicken that was not what I expected. Was dry and the taste was too "herby" and not the sweet heat I was expecting. Maybe my past experiences with this dish were less than authentic. That's entirely possible but I did not like it. The server and manager were very attentive (not because of complaints) and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Two of my crowd had the oysters and they were wonderful. The salads were delicious. I would go again for sure.

This place was highly recommended for their food. We arrived at 5:15pm and the place was packed! In my experience, this is a good thing. We had a ten minute wait in the comfortable waiting area. There were plenty of interesting quotes in this area that helped pass the time quickly. Our server Eric was kind and patient. He explained the meals we were interested in with great detail. We ordered the hot butter cider and boy, it was absolutely Delicious! There were 3 of us eating that night and everyone's meal was amazing! We would definitely Recommend this place to anyone. There is a wide variety of selections to choose from. Food for thought definitely met the expecpatients that we were given. If you are in town, please give them a try!

This is a great place to stop off at while in Williamsburg! It can get busy, but the food and atmosphere are worth the wait. They have a good variety of food as well as several vegan options! I tried the vegan Reuben sandwich and it was so good. I also enjoyed the vegan raspberry chocolate torte!

I had never heard of this place before but on a day trip my wife came across this establishment. This restaurant is definitely a cut above. Love the humor in the menu! Had the salmon with apple salsa. Definitely coming back!!

Food for Thought not only takes food allergy very seriously, in the meantime, they try their best to make sure I am satisfied with my food. Very friendly and helpful staff!

Wonderful experience! We were there with our friends and their 4 kids. Howard (the manager or maybe owner?) overheard my friend's son say he couldn't find anything to eat. He was being a picky teenager as the menu is wonderful. Howard came by to say he overheatd that and would be very happy to make him what he wanted!! Wow! I've rarely heard a restaurant offer this! It was such a thoughtful gesture. The food is great and the service is too. You won't regret eating here!!!

Average, visited Sunday Dec 17th, Sticky Ribs were dry, inexcusable bbq really, The shoestring fries were burnt and hard, taste odd, medium burger was over done, lumpcrab was dry, overall well presented facility, food was mediocre

One of the best run restaurants that I have ever visited. All the food was excellent, service was top-notch and the kitchen and front end oversight was obvious.

I can’t say enough about this place . We love the food and the servers are wonderful. We have tried so many items on the menu and they are all so delicious we never have room for dessert!! Bacon wrapped scallops were the best ever !!

Crowded but for the right reason

Atmosphere was a bit noisy but otherwise thus gets high marks from me. Delicious food!

All of our food was nicely prepared and the waiter helped with a special order due to allergies. I ordered the creme brulee and it was excellent. I only digged atmosphere because it was crowded and they made us a table behind the server station in front of kitchen. Otherwise it was an enjoyable dinner.
