Poolside Bar & Courtyard in Swale

We have often used the bar restaurant for a cheap eat as we felt it had improved however whilst not expecting fine dining tonight's meal was sadly very poor.The menu is extensive with many specials on the board in addition. I chose roast of the day which consisted of loads of beef slices curled up and chewy from presumably being microwaved, it tasted horrible, I had some soggy roast (frozen variety) potatoes and some new potatoes. Al dente cabbage wasn't nice and an ok Yorkshire pud. My husband had a cheeseburger which looked and tasted microwaved it's presentation poor with some fries. Dessert of apple crumble with custard was some stewed (poss tinned) huge apple chunks with a separate sprinkling of a dried powder? No custard but scoop of flavourless ice cream (no explanation of why no custard). My ice cream was 3 scoops of icey no flavour cheap feeling stuff.. no creamy gelato here. Such a shame as this wasn't restaurant quality food at all and I'm no expert by any stretch. We won't be returning

Went to the pool side restaurant for a meal as we have been on the odd occasion in the past, was very disappointed to find they had changed the menu as their was absolutely nothing that appealed to me I went for the roast, on arrival it look nice but unfortunately I could not cut the meat and it was fatty the roast potatoes were on the hard side and the Yorkshire pudding was like rubber, and it would have been nice if all our meals arrived at the same time. Won’t be going again unless they make some much needed changes.

Just back from this place for Breakfast it was horrible ,didn’t taste of anything our Grandaughter left hers the bacon was tasteless in fact there was nothing on the plate was nice just a mess all thrown on the plate The waitress was so miserable as was the bar staff If you are not a people person don’t work with the public I will be giving this place a wide berth it needed a good clean it’s grubby as is the menu

A unique setting for a 60th birthday party! Didn't find the staff particularly friendly or helpful. Buffet food was ok. Lots of it but not a great selection. I guess the party host decides on the variety of food, so that isn't the 'fault' of the venue.

My family had visited this "poolside" bar restaurant within the River Valley Golf Club on two previous occasions and we said after the second time that there would not be a third. However, after a year we still went, expecting there to be some improvements. Never again though. To be fair, the food is actually ok, though the menu is not very adventurous, especially for vegetarians, of which there are two of us and the Lamb Shank is overpriced for something that is cooked from frozen in a microwave. The problem is actually with the staff. The first time we went in the summer of 2016 the people that served us looked like they simply didn't want to be there, but we thought everyone has an off day so we went a second time about a month later, different people, good, same attitude, bad! When we did eventually get served we were treated like we were an interruption to the conversation they were having. We got three looks without a single acknowledgement before i asked how long we have to wait to place an order. I thought that was fair to ask. We said we'd never go back again at that stage but we thought after almost a year that things might have changed or at least perhaps the people. We were surprised to see that despite the boasting of an extensive new double sized kitchen, that the menu was just as bland as it was before. I went to the bar to order a Lamb Shank but with chips instead of mash, they had to go out the back and ask, no smile, just an inconvenience for the girl to do so. I also wanted a Salmon and Cream Cheese Sandwich but apparently they can't do sandwiches after 6pm??? Wondering how an earth the extensive refurbishments had improved things while still providing "service" with no evidence of movable facial muscles that can perform a basic grin let alone even a half recognisable smile, we decided to leave and cook at home instead. The staff here will do well to learn that customers are the reason they are there in the first place. If they don't want to be there, there are plenty of other people that would be glad to do your jobs. If you don't want people coming into your golf club restaurant to eat then don't open for non-members - simple. A smile goes a long way.

Wow an 80s throw back.... Yes the food is cheap with large portions but the quality is so poor. The first thing that great you is the smell of old cooking fat from the kitchen and then the dated interior takes you back to the 80s.

We used to like going to eat at the poolside bar but unfortunately we will probably not visit again. The new menu is very disappointing as a lot of our favourites have been taken off ( e.g. The cheese and potato pie ) along with a lot of the 'snack' items. Although the chef has not changed, the quality of the cooking seems to have gone down and do we really want to eat off a piece of wood! It is still a good place to meet up with friends but spoilt by the mediocre food.

We have been regulars here for some time, you always got a great meal, at great prices and good service in a nice relaxed restaurant. Such a shame to find they have made some changes, and not for the better! Yes, the food is still good, and so is the service, but the menu is considerably reduced in choice, although the prices seem to be higher. I cant understand why they also feel the need to now serve a number of their meals on wooden boards and their chips in little pales! Please go back to serving on plates! We were also miffed to find that some of the desserts were on the board as being served with cream or ice cream, and yet, when ordering, were told the creams came at an extra cost! Should the desserts be advertised as including cream when they don't? You don't get the option to change chips for jacket spud either, your order is as states on the menu. This restaurant has always been busy when we have gone, but on our recent visit, it was quiet, in comparison, does this not say something!

Staff will go out of there way to help and particularly if you are disabled. They are always pleasant

I have been to this restaurant twice in a couple of months. It is relaxed . The food is good and the staff are lovely and helpful. It is not fine dining but nor is it as bad as one reviewer has suggested. You would not go there for cordon blue food. It is a good place to catch up with friends and no one tries to rush you out of there. It has always been busy whenever I have been there.

Have been a regular here for several years but afraid to say it's not what it used to be! Becoming very run down and the food has dropped in standard considerably! I think we will now call it a day at this place now!

Sadly this place has become very run down. They have decided to make the swimming pool in to a gigantic ugly fishpond with a bridge over. Toilets filthy in fact most of it filthy. Food average but they seem to put salad on the side of everything even in a hot meal. Sadly this place is stuck in a time warp.
