Amazing food, my favourite curry in Gloucestershire at a great price. Service is top notch, won't go anywhere else

Went for a curry with my two brothers I had garlic chilli chicken balti and it was superb - one of the best curry’s I’ve ever had. Overall the food was very good no complaints on that front. However the reason we didn’t give 5 stars was the service, overall it was poor. A couple of the staff who served us were dismissive, rude it it seemed we weren’t valued as potential returning customers. Other than that, the food was fantastic because of this I would go back. An improvement in customer service and I would become a regular I’m sure of it!

Phoned my order and was told 35 minutes, was only 3 curry’s, 3 pilau rice, 2 nan bread and a portion of onion Bhaji , it was packed out, was sat waiting thinking, the food must be good as this was my first time, waited another 30 minutes!! Well…….. the curry’s were bland, the rice was cold, the Bhaji’s were cold, flat and like eating cardboard and the Nan breads were the thinnest I have ever seen and again cold, assuming they had all been made earlier and just left to be used later?!! My advice is don’t take as many orders and then you’d have time to get the food perfect!!!!! Definitely won’t be using the Polash again ☹️☹️

Delicious food!! Was so busy, but so worth the wait!

I’ve no idea what the previous reviewer who gave a negative review was on about with lack of salt? It’s Indian food not fish and chips! I’ve been eating here for the best part of 20 years and never had a bad meal. Even with the reduced menu the food is delicious and just stands out from other places. The guys who work there are always welcoming and if you go in and order and wait they serve thatchers gold so you can enjoy a pint whilst waiting. This place is heaving on a weekend, even just for people waiting for their take away. But this gives you reassurance that you are in the know and well get a good curry!

Our first visit to Polash, whilst visiting Gloucester. Good value, no frills Indian restaurant. I had the mixed tandoori grill with chapatis and both were very good. Service was. quick, friendly and efficient.

The most underwhelming disgusting food I have ever eaten! No salt and bland food. Rude service and staff. Wouldn’t recommend this place to an animal!

Food wasn't the best the meat samosa was nasty and greasy and the onion bargi burnt and no flavor but the curry wasn't bad had loads of flavor but wasn't worth all the hype

I wont go anywhere else for take-away food except Polash. I have NEVER had a poor meal, let alone a bad one, in at least the last 7 years i have been using them. I have only eaten in the restaurant a couple of times with family celebrations and again the food is always excellent. You will see some negative reviews about the curries not being "authentic" or "not a proper Madras", please just ignore them. The same "curry" made in different regions will have different flavours and consistencies and at the end of the day, who cares what it should or should not be called, if it tastes good then what more is needed! Well done all the guys at Polash, definitely the best there is!!

Great food! For 6 of us. Good value. Even on a Monday, it was busy, so that probably explains why the service was erratic.

Was impressed with this place when I first started going here but the tenderness of the meat recently has been disappointing. The lamb and chicken is not as tender as it should be. I feel like the meat should be falling apart. The chicken always seems tough, as if it's been cooked too quickly. Always a turn off for me.

Visited Wednesday 23rd October with friends. Have been visiting biannually with the same group for several years and haven't given Polash a review yet! Just amazing! All the crew give us such a great experience everytime and the food is fab, got to be the best in Glos. Have had takeaway and just as good. Bit peeved we didn't get 'our table' this time - just joking guys - you're great. Thank you.

So glad I have finally found a curry I actually like . Superb every time. The curry sauce is thick and tasty and not runny and I can taste all the different flavours with every different curry . Hope that makes sense! Will never go anywhere else from now on 🤗

The service is outstanding and the food always bangs. They’re always so patient with big groups of kids and every time I bring people here they are converted to sticking with this gem, rather than the pretenders that want the polash crown. A community hub, amazing staff and food that just hits different. Always accommodating with off menu delights!! The geezer on the front desk is a real class act, organised, never flustered and their warmth and attention to detail with service is unrivalled. Always consistent, there is no better

We have been looking for a restaurant to replace the Spicy Kalkata, after trying many around Gloucester we have found it. Food is exactly what you would expect and is very tasty. All clean plates on Madras, korma and Pathia. Staff are welcoming and polite... couldn't ask for any more from a local restaurant.

I had the Jalfrezi which was awful, no sauce just tandoori chicken and oil. This is meant to be one of their specials! I wish I had taken a picture to share.

Food is always consistent and impeccable, in my opinion best Indian in Glos. They consistently have to deal with tables of 30 for us and always go all out for the kids. We appreciate you polash! Special mention to the gentlemen who man’s the phone behind the counter, their warmth, organisation and touch of service is your asset, unfortunately not there on our last visit and was definitely missed, wasn’t quite as slick. However this is constructive, how often do you get a table of 30 and was a blip. The service is always normally incredible and the food is out of this world

Friends of ours booked the "Polash" Restaurant so we could meet up and have a meal. The quality of the food and service was excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The best Indian food, delicious and fresh. Very large portions for a small price. Takeaway meals, always hot. I especially recommend: chicken Tikka Massala, Chicken Kurma and Cheese Nan.

I have been coming here for a few years now and the service is always exceptional. The staff are always quick and efficient and the food is outstanding. Never once had an issue and would recommend to anyone. Best Indian in Gloucester.

Our first time visiting Polash after many local recommendations. The welcome at the door, a trade mark at many Indian restaurants was disappointing. We received a gruff greeting, were ignored when trying to explain we had booked in advance and the led to what felt like a refrigerated table. We moved table (apologies to whomever got it after us). After that things improved. The service was prompt, orders were taken. The drinks arrived in short order, the one size (small glass only) wine and a small bottle of Cobra. No glass was offered and I couldn't be bothered to ask for one to be honest. Onto the main event, the food! We didn't have to wait long, starters and main course were absolutely delicious and the portion size was great value. I'm looking forward to leftovers for tea tonight. We will happily go back again and again. Oh and there's nothing we saw that told us but, pay at the bar on way out. Must've waived our card at a dozen waiters before one of them told us. Anyway great food, that's the important bit. ps. Make sure you don't park in the pub car park unless you've registered you number plate in there.

Absolutely disgusting place. Food is adequate. Staff are rude. The clientèle is horrendous, which includes people openly doing drugs and staff taking no action. Would not recommend for families or people generally wanting a nice meal with a kind and respectful atmosphere

We dined here twice over a week. It was recommended to us by one of the staff in the hotel we were in. We were staying in the nearby Gloucester Robinswood hotel (reviewed separately). It’s apparently a signature hotel, though dear knows why as the evening food there is dire, it’s mismanaged and staffing levels are low. On our first visit we hadn’t booked and despite being fully booked the deal was ‘give us back the table at 7pm’ and that gave us an hour. We started with poppadoms. I asked if they had the black pepper ones - most of the Indian restaurants we go to no longer offer them - and it was no problem. I prefer them for two reasons, first they aren’t fried rather they are dry cooked over flame, and second they are peppery spiced. The portion of dips was tasty too. I got a lamb curry and the portion was generous, it was moderately spiced tender meat and very tasty indeed. My wife got tikka chicken pieces with a thick korma sauce and we shared a Peshwari nan and a pilau rice. The nan was the only disappointment as I like plenty of filling but the place is undoubtedly 5 star. The staff, likely Bangladeshi, are friendly chaps and they sure are kept busy as the restaurant was full on a Thursday evening. Pint of beer and a glass of rosé wine came in about £8 for the two. Second time, we booked. It was a Tuesday and it was still busy. We just had mains: a chicken and a vegetable biryani with a vegetable curry and a korma with a Peshwari nan. The biryani’s were deliciously spiced and again generous portions. Again a pint of beer and a rosé wine. The only real downside is that parking nearby can be difficult. What a pity we don’t have anything near this good at home. Polash in Hindi: Ocean; Name of a King; Leaf.

I ordered a takeaway this evening for my partner and myself. My partner had no complaints about her food. I don’t know what they gave me but it wasn’t a jalfrezi that I ordered. This was really disappointing for me as it’s my first night on solid food due to mouth cancer. Mi can’t take it back as it’s too far to go there again from where I am. I tried to call them but no answer. I would hope they just mixed the order up.

Early evening meal with work colleagues. Excellent good quality food at a reasonable price. Very early on a Monday evening so could not give 5 stars for atmosphere but food and service were excellent. Recommended.

Another perfect meal for 2 in June 2024, dining in the restaurant. Chicken Tikka Byriani and Chicken Jalfrezi was served promptly, piping hot and delicious to enjoy.

I was on training in the area and came across this restaurant, it was such a relief to find an amazing Bangladeshi restaurant. From the get go they were very attentive to my needs and went above and beyond the 3 nights I spent in Gloucester. The food is excellent and the portions are very generous, overall the price of the food is very reasonable considering u get a variety of dishes, the mix grill was some of the best I have had in a very long time, I will be visiting Gloucester again for training in September so this will be my place of choice, thank you all for your excellency and customer service.

Food here is terrible. Garlic naan was just a naan with garlic chunks thrown over before being served, not warmed with the bread. Onion bhaji was pressed flat and dry, tasted like cardboard. It came with a few slices of lettuce and a lemon… why on earth does onion bhaji need lettuce & lemon? It doesn’t… this is just a filler so you get less of the food you ordered. I got 3 bhaji and some rabbit feed… The chicken tikka - I don’t know how this is a chicken tikka. It was luminous bright red (food dyes??) with RAW shaved coconut?? The chicken was tasty but the sauce tasted like it was made by a child. Who in their right mind thought this was a great idea for a chicken tikka?? Grainy RAW coconut with some flavourless red mystery sauce… Can’t recommend this place for indian food. The portions are tiny and the food is terrible.

An unpretentious restaurant and takeaway that is obviously very popular with locals. Really enjoyed the food from an interesting and varied menu and the service was first class without being obsequious. We visited on a Saturday night so it was busy and noisy BUT the atmosphere was really good.

Terrible food, cold. I don’t mean lukewarm, but cold. The prawns in my byriani had this limp slimy coating . No Unami or flavour to anything. What a disappointment.

I’ve always had a good curry from you guys, however tonight you messed up the order not once but twice. Very disappointed at the quality of food as well. I can safely say I won’t be ordering from you again.

One of the best curry houses I have been too in Gloucester and regularly get delivery too. All their dishes are top quality with great flavour and depth. Really friendly staff and always a pleasure to be there.

Gorgeous food! Very prompt service, even though they were extremely busy with diners eating in as opposed to my takeaway. All food was fresh and to a high standard.

First time dining in an Indian restaurant and I was not disappointed. The waiters were fantastic. The food was so tasty, hot and out in good time.

Get our takeaways from here fairly regular and pretty decent. Tonight and also previous time, our 2 naans barely cooked, cold, likewise the onion bhajis cold and we are only 3/4 mins drive away. Both curries hot but think overall care is going down a little for collections, hope it improves, thanks

Very busy on a Saturday night and glad we reserved ahead of time, but food was delicious. Their recommended dishes are justified! Only down points I can think of was the rice portions we're measly and parking outside can be tricky when it's busy.

Great food and great service! Sunday evening dinner out with a friend. We were able to get a table without booking. Pleased to see lots of folks coming in to pick up takeaways as I thought that meant the food would be good and sure enough it didn't disappoint!

I found this restaurant on trip advisor and I have to say we fully enjoyed it,it was so busy I luckily had booked some weeks before and also very popular with the local people.

All I can say is we went tonight and had the best food ever my compliments to the chef we thoroughly enjoyed our meal the staff were all very polite , also just to back up someone else who left a comment about the toilet it was pristine , you can always tell a good restaurant by checking the toilets. Take my word for it im very fussy when it comes to food and I can say 100 % we will be back again very soon .

Met up with friends to celebrate a birthday. Had a nice time and the food was ok apart from later that night I felt unwell, wasn't sick but felt like I was going to be. Wasn't drinking so not down to excess alcohol. Ordered the chicken chat and chicken balti. Something didn't agree

I had an amazing dining experience at Polash Restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, and the standout was their impeccable service. Charlie, one of the staff members, made us feel incredibly welcome with his warm hospitality and attentive service. A definite must-visit for great food and a friendly atmosphere!

I travelled 60 miles away for the food as I was told it was exquisite. The flavours were amazing and the staff were absolutely brilliant 👍😎, I couldn't ask for better. The owner who everyone called Charlie was brilliant, funny, charming and made me and my friends feel welcomed. I'd definitely recommend again and will travel any distance to taste the authentic food again.

Amazing food and service every time

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the Polash. We visited as a family and loved the fact that they have a children's menu. The food was lovely and great service. We were made to feel very welcome and will definitely be returning.

I ate there two weeks ago with my brother. The restaurant was busy in the early evening and I hadn't booked a table. However, they were able to find us a place. The menu was exciting and the service was very quick. The food was excellent and we both thoroughly enjoyed our choices. Would give the strongest recommendation.

My number 1 place for a curry. Been about 20+ times in the past year and every time the food is excellent quality, service is friendly and we always have a great time. Not the best indian I've had and I wouldn't go back, booked a table but had to wait to be seated very small restaurant, food very average onion bhaji was flat, no desserts offered or coffees you have to go to the bar to pay, the only two positives I can mention is its very cheap and atmosphere was great

The korma was very creamy and a nice amount of chicken. The lamb was cooked just right and very tender, and the rice was just right also. I highly recommend a visit it you like a good Indian meal.

We were a party of 15 celebrating 3 birthday's we were made totally welcome in a very busy Saturday night service. Food was hot and all 15 main courses arrived together. Great night was had by us all and a big thanks to the staff and kitchen staff for a great evening many thanks liz and family

Hadn’t been for a few years, so we decided to venture over on Saturday night. I’m a local and always see the place busy, which is great, so it was no surprise to see the place bustling. We’d booked a table and were seated within minutes. Caring on draught and cobra in bottles so draught it was. We had Balti’s, Massala and jalfrezi. Feedback on the Balti’s was ‘really nice’; Massala was ‘nice, but a bit sweet’; and my jalfrezi was a bit bland for my taste….but it looked great and was really well cooked. So overall the food was a hit. Only downside was that being busy it was so noisy…but like I said earlier, it’s great to see a local place busy. Keep up the good work👍🏻
