We have been using this takeaway since early 80 s tried other Indian takeaways sorry no a patch on this takeaway we've lost the best Chinese takeaway in Gloucester I really hope we don't lose this takeaway cos I think if we do I'm maybe going to have to stop having takeaways cos nothing compares to city Indian and parkend Chinese

Food was good, good value for money. Waited 2 hours and owner was quite aggressive over the phone after I had called twice to ask how much longer the food will be, communication barrier granted but was aggressive, but will use again.

City Indian takeaways have been the best in Gloucester for many years, so much taste and really lean chicken, but over recent months the quality has significantly dropped, chicken chewy and hard to cut through and nowhere near as rich tasting. Such a shame because this really was our favourite place to get our takeaways from.

Spontanious visit. Usually use Justeat. They are not on there, so didnt know it existed. The portions are big enough to last me 3 days, so you can feel better about spending that money you shouldnt have spent on a takeaway. Im very fussy with my indian food, but this place was a change from my usual. Good prices, and the food is better than more expensive places. Only criticism is they could use real paneer cheese, not cheddar cheese lol. Its much healthier. Give it a go if you want to have a decent indian. Still not good as mums though, which is the real indian food.

I came here a few days ago for a takeaway, I had a korma, sag paneer starter, rice and poppadoms all for 10.50, this is by far the best Indian in Glos, my only criticism us if you say 35 minutes be 35 minutes, I had to wait an hour in all!

El otro día comí comida para llevar de aquí, no solo estaba delicioso, tenía un precio muy razonable, sino que me dieron un naan gratis, ¡increíble! Puedo recomendar la parrillada mixta y el sagwala.

Great tasting food, but our last order was up by £7.50 which was a 30% rise since August. We challenged it and they said they had changed the prices. We asked for a updated new menu but they said thay have not made any new menus with the new prices. Guess they can charge what they want now then!

Normally rave about this place but I have to wonder if they have a new chef, the bhajis had more carrot than onions and the mains were so salty couldn't eat it!! Gutted!!

Completely and absolutely the worst Indian meal ever!ever!ever!... I’ve never reviewed a meal, but this was so bad I felt compelled to act. Chicken Balti.. I’m no expert... but... Two quarters of a tomato, loaded with strands of onion, some chicken, flavour disgusting. Rice.... just rubbish, Keema naan...... just a soggy mess. Feeling ripped off.... At least the foxes aren’t fussy, because either them or the seagulls will have a meal tonight!

We read the reviews and thought we would try it. Dingy dodgy area. But! Intersting tasty low price food. It is a bit unrefined and prepare for a tastebud bludgeoning! However! 1.30 for a nan. 5.60 for lovely chicken tukke bhuna you cannot go wrong. Decent size portions. Cash only. Lovely people. Crazy busy on a saturday!

I was recommended to use this place by friends from work and it did live up to its expectations. I ordered 3x chicken madras, 1 chicken bhuna, 2 rice and 1 keema nann for £20 with delivery! The food was really nice and arrived on time and it was piping hot. The place is great value for money and at £3.90 for a chicken madras is a bargain. You will not beat this place for price anywhere in Gloucester. Highly recommended

We have had deliveries from City Indian since I moved to Gloucester 14 years ago. In that time we have never had a bad meal. The curries are really good as is the saag paneer, and the naan bread delicious. Good prices and portions generous. And there's always a bit left for lunch the next day.

Have literally always got my curries from here (since my dad did too). seems like many people I know don't really know about it - but genuinely does have the best food you can get from an Indian and for the best price too!! In my opinion (and I eat a lot of curry) if I am ever made to go elsewhere - im always left disappointed as it's never the same quality!

Cannot fault whatsoever! Delivery was exactly on time, 3 chicken kormas were loved by my 3 kids, pathia was lovely and garlic tikka bhuna was lovely apparently by my fussy Mrs. The mushroom rice was perfect with chunky fresh mushrooms not frozen watery stuff and the pilau rice was colourful and authentic in favour. The nan bread was huge if I can criticize one thing it was the"chips" which were fries and I personally prefer chunky chips. We had 5 large poppadoms with sauces and lovely salad and although we live 13 miles away, will be using this place weekly. Well done to all at city Indian as a curry eater for over 40 years, you have restored my faith in an authentic curry! All above still counts so if you live in the same street or collect an order,no change to original rating. If you live 2.7 miles away (as confirmed on Google maps) they charge you over £3 for delivery. Also their veg balti main course is £3.90. I ordered a main course Bombay potato. They charged £5! So I won't be ordering again unless I collect which is unlikely! Shame really but I could have had a chicken main course for less than a potato main??

Amazing food at this place. Been open for years. Every time i come to Gloucestershire i have to eat from this place. Place looks a bit antique but food is amazing. They do one of the best onions bhajis and masala chips. I also recommend the chicken tikka massala. Chicken is very tender. Portions are hugh for the price and staff are very friendly.

And no "Delhi belly" the next morning...would I go again?Yes...the grilled chicken tikka was amazing and the naan was huge!!!

Excellent authentic food, quite large portions, very good value for money. No one beats their onion bhargi or their lamb methi, which is always tender & too much for 1 person!! Don't be put off by the shabbiness of the shop, the food is amazing & all prepared & cooked on site by the family. City Indian is Far better than any of the Cheltenham restaurants who really cater for the uneducated palet & larger wallet!!

about 17 years ago i lived quite close and was expecting my second child who was and is still always late for everything we herd the old wives tale off having a hot curry and a larger to get things moving so my mum and i ordered a hot curry guess what Joe was delivered 9am the next morning. after enjoying the meal that night we were weekly customers for a take away the food was fab i moved away 10 years ago but recently my eldest son and i were around that area and went in for a curry take away he instantly remembered us and cooked us a fantastic curry that lived up to the memories of the ones we used to have we have decided to have a take away once a month from them as they are certainly the best indian take away in gloucester

This lovely restaurant never disappoints. The warm welcome, excellent menu choice and delicious food make it one of our favourite places to eat out. We chose to share a starter as the portions are so generous and then ordered two main dishes plus rice and naan. The food was absolutely delicious and we look forward to returning.

Was impressed with this place when I first started going here but the tenderness of the meat recently has been disappointing. The lamb and chicken is not as tender as it should be. I feel like the meat should be falling apart. The chicken always seems tough, as if it's been cooked too quickly. Always a turn off for me.

Wow!!!! Absolutely gorgeous takeaway tonight. We were warned when we ordered of the wait time. Sadly, it was even longer BUT... We rang to check all was well. It then arrived five minutes later with a very apologetic driver who explained how busy they were. Then, whilst we were eating, had a follow-up call to check it had arrived - again, very apologetic, admitting they were busy but that this was below their own standards. Makes such a difference... And the food was stunning. Cannot fault at all. For no particular reason, we've not had a takeaway for a while but we will so definitely be back...soon!!!!
