The food in here was so good! Chips are a bit fat but each to their own. The food was that good I tried visiting again the next night but they were closed (not complaining just sad I couldnt eat here again) went down the road to an indian restaurant that smelled like a sewer (babutchi or something). If you want some tasty curry this is the place to go, credit to the chef here 👏

The waiter was lovely and attentive but had no idea how to open a bottle of wine. We did feel sorry for him, surely that's simple waiter training. Food was lovely, would definitely go there again if ever in Gloucester.

The manager was charming, polite, and helpful. I had Kozhi Chettinad, their specialty. A spicy treat. The plates were hot and the restaurant was clean. It was our first visit but it will soon be one of many.

The service could not have been better. My son doesn't like much spice, and they made sure he was happy 😁. Our guide dog was no problem and we were very comfortable. The onion bajji was a little over done, but the main course was spot on. A thick sauce and plenty of meat. Excellent sides too 👍. Set lunch menu is very reasonable and there was 15% off the main menu at lunchtime. Thanks for a fab meal.

Ordered a takeaway following a week away from home. It arrived a little early. Onion bhaji starters were nice but didn't seem to travel so well and missed the mark for me, not as light and crispy as in the restaurant and I'd probably choose something else next time, but... the fork-tender Malabar lamb, mushroom rice with a Sag also side was something else; good portions, so tender, so full of interesting flavours, just mouthful after mouthful of Wow. Not disappointed at all. Despite the starter, it was more than overshadowed by the most excellent main/side and I will most certainly be back for more. Way head and shoulders above the curry I had whilst away. Lucky to have you guys.

Really enjoyed our visit. The level of service was impeccable. We were part of a large group and everyone agreed that the food and atmosphere wes excellent. Quite a small and intimate restaurant but this just added to the atmosphere. Recommended

Please don’t waste your time or money going here. Very disappointed. The mushroom rice was like uncle Ben’s boil in a bag. The saag aloo was a plate of mush, it looked like baby vomit. I was waiting for Shrek to pop out of the dish. The lamb chops had less meat than a butchers apron. I’ve also never been to a curry house that doesn’t bring out chutneys with popadoms. What’s worse is that you had to pay extra for the privilege. Maybe I’m biased because I am blessed with top quality Indian restaurants where I live, but if in Gloucester, sorry to say this is one to avoid!

We had lunch with our little baby. Everything was good. The food was delicious. But the service was quite good at the beginning and at last when I ordered for takeaway they took too much time and the manager excused me that I should order before but we already ordered, his colleague forgot it. When I tried to explain that we already placed the order, the manager ignored me and acted very busy. I believe that if you cannot listen to your customer then you're poor at your service. No matter who is in front of you. Whether Indian or British. You should treat everyone equally. I felt like this as well. I spent more than 100 pounds at this place and got this kind of behavior as a return. I was angry and wanted to reply to him but my little baby was waiting outside with his daddy That's why i quietly left the restaurant.

Had a really tasty curry as a couple here. We booked but you might not need to, but the food was fantastic. Much recommended!

The service was glacial. It took over an hour for our food to arrive (even though it wasn't that busy). The food was bland and tasted microwaved (mushy rice, stale meat). Don't bother coming here

Tasteless food with bad service, taking order of takeout when it was clearly a dine-in. Also, waitress making sexist jokes which was a surprise.

Always good lunch here .We come from Nottingham to have lunch and always good service and food .Wish we had a similar place in Nottingham as most places in Nottm dont open at lunch time . Naan breads excellent , as is rice and curries. Chiken tikka and majestic as well. Staff welcoming and manager , so will be back .

We have been to Aroma a few times, food is always excellent, very tasty, served promptly and with very friendly and attentive staff. They are always willing to accommodate even if you haven't booked a table.

Highly recommended. It's nice to find an Indian restaurant offering more than just Cobra or Kingfisher, the Bombay Bicycle IPA was superb and I'd highly recommend it. The food is also superb and I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken chetinad. My wife was very complimentary on the veggie options. When the bill arrived it also seemed very good value for money.

We were given a table for five upstairs.Unfortunately it was so cold at both our original table and a substitute offered that we couldn't stay and had to leave without ordering.So no idea about the food.

Taramana sambavam. Very very nice food after so long time in UK. Vendakai kara kuzhambu was a real treat. Yummy and spicy. The entire family enjoyed the food. I don't often post reviews, but the food stood for itself. Good job chef and team!!!

The actual selection of curries available are small. The curry dishes are extremely average, just a base sauce with absolutely no ingredients. I wouldn't go again.

Visit Sunday night, AMAZING! We ordered onion bhajees , lamb Malabar and chips , with a butter Nan. Bhajees amazing. Chips stunning . Lamb Malabar out of this world. The butter Nan was the best Nan we have ever tasted in 45 plus years of eating curries throughout the world including India. Nice to see a local family of five all eat at Aroma, yep everyone of them had a butter Nan.

Waited one and half hours, nearly two hours for delivery, I was starving, was quoted 30 minutes , which food ended up being stone cold and having to re-heat myself.

Enjoyed an excellent meal, from the poppadoms and chutneys through to the mains, was really good. It was a Saturday evening and the place was full which is always a good sign and the staff were very attentive and food was great.

Table booked for 19:00, arrived on time and seated upstairs a bit out of the way. I think they forgot about us it took 30 minutes to get a drink and 90 minutes to actually get any food. Second round of drinks took 30 minutes. Whilst the food wasn’t bad I wasn’t exactly blown away by it. Good food dreadful service. Won’t rush back.

We visited for the first time last night as we are staying in Gloucester for a few days, our waiter Raj was friendly, helpful and attentive, food was out of this world and the best chicken tikka misala I have tasted. Highly recommend and would come here again.

Fantastic food - mainly use home delivery and they have met their estimated time nearly every time only missing by 5 minutes when really busy. Every choice I have made I have never been disappointed far from it. Only criticism is they appear to have stopped free poppadoms and chutneys with large orders - we really miss them it was a good touch to show they appreciated our order.

Called the restaurant’s number to speak to the manager and was answered by another member of staff. I told him that I wanted to speak to the manager and that it wasn’t to make a complaint or anything, the member of staff was unnecessarily hostile which at first I blamed on the call having bad signal so I assumed he was being loud and blunt in case I couldn’t hear him however when I asked when would be the best time to call to reach the manager the member of staff was getting aggressive telling me he couldn’t tell me when the manager would be available as they don’t know me? Because of his rude behaviour I asked him what his name was as I didn’t want any other member of staff to be blamed as a result of this review but obviously he refused to give me his name but stated it’s because he doesn’t feel comfortable giving his name to a stranger, his tone told me otherwise. Regardless, I was shocked at his behaviour especially if he is front of house staff because my family also own an indian restaurant and we definitely would not allow such awful behaviour especially when I didn’t say anything rude to the man and was only wanting to speak to the manager in regards to if he was interested in recruiting anymore staff!!

I think I must have reviewed this place several times in the past but just to give an update because sometimes things vary, quality changes. Very glad to report quality if anything has got even better here lunch today three of us we each had different starters different mains so we tried each other's dishes every single dish completely outstanding exceptional. One of the great things about this place you actually have to wait 10 15 20 minutes for the food to arrive after placing your order because everything is made to order this is not microwaved food it's absolutely the best. If you like spicy food hot food the lamb gel Frasier is absolutely sensational if you like it a little bit less hot but full of flavor butter chicken is fantastic. The starters, chicken tikka just moist and delicious absolutely fantastic flavor as is the prawn starter. The naan breads comes straight out of an oven really tasty succulent with oil just the best non-bread you could eat.

Well presented restaurant that has clearly had some thought go into the decorations. We were seated quickly and offered a drink in a usual amount of time. The wait to then get our food order in was a little longer than necessary, our server offered us advise on how much to order and he was definitely right. Poppadoms and the sides were lovely - poppadoms are larger than other Indian restaurants. We had the Onion Bhajis and Garlic Prawns to start - both lovely crispy dishes with the prawns being a real stand out. It took a bit of time for our plates to be cleared but our food came shortly after that. We had the Kohzi Chittinadu which was flavoursome but the chicken was definitely over cooked. Rice and Naans were tasty.

Friendly service, good curry, good beer. It was pretty full, and seemed to be a favourite of the locals, with good reason.

Had booked a table but was not sat down until 35 mins from arrival. Was given complimentary poppadoms which tasted like they'd been made the previous day. After several prompts food arrived 95 mins after entering the restaurant, saw several others wait the same amount of time. When food arrived my friend's Tandoori mixed grill looked like something you'd buy from Iceland, cheap and nasty. My curry was ok but nothing to write home about, definitely not in the class the reviews suggests. Experience was very poor. Never had food, service or waiting times like this in Indian Memories in Quedgley, I'll be going back there in future.

Very accomodating, a last minute ask for 16 people to have a sit in meal, and they were happy to seat us. Food was very tasty, spicey and served fairly quick.

Booked over the phone. Arrived 10 mins early, was a busy Saturday night. They said they'd get us sat down in 5 mins. We actually got to our table 30 mins later, so 20 mins after our booked time. We were given complimentary poppadoms due to the delay which tasted pretty stale like they'd been lying about for a while, nonetheless the gesture was appreciated. We then received our order of poppadoms so we were now filling up massively on extra food, which turned out to be lucky as we didn't see any other food for more than an hour. Some 95 minutes after arriving and having someone else's plates delivered to us then moved to the correct table, we advised they had 2 minutes to bring our food or we'd leave. It arrived 90 seconds later. Perhaps the enjoyment of the food was spoiled by the delays and being filled up on extra poppadoms but it really wasn't very good curry. My friend's Tandoori mixed grill looked like it had been bought from Iceland, my jalfrezi was a little too spicy for me. It really wasn't the experience we expected compared to the reviews. The drinks and poppadoms were removed from the bill without asking, this was appreciated but sadly wasn't enough to warrant changing my 2 star rating, the Memories of India in Quedgley is far better than this, surprised the ratings don't reflect that.

The food was ok. We ordered pulav rice, lemon rice and plain rice with vendakka Kara saram. The food was reasonably tasty. We didn't have raise since we reached glocested. They also served papadoms with some mint chutney and achan. Overall it's was ok and if you miss indian food you can come here and have.

Arrived at 7.30pm, order was taken at 7.45pm. Waited until 8.45 and still no food. We walked out. Thanks for the drinks

Went for dinner as a family group of 4 and had such an amazing experience. The food was excellent and the staff went out of their way by bringing a sample of the sauce to try when l wasn't sure if it would be too hot. Absolutely delicious and the whole ambiance added to a lovely experience. Wish we lived near by!!

A truly great Indian Restuarant with contemporary chilled music to dine to...lovely

Without a doubt, the worst 'indian' food I've ever tasted in my life. We chose Aroma for a family birthday meal because of all the positive reviews but we're absolutely shocked by how unwelcoming, unfriendly and quite rude staff who have little to none customer service skills, or common sense for that matter. We asked for a lacha paratha off of the menu and were told they don't want to make them and there would be no running orders so if we really wanted one we could have just one... take it off the menu if you cannot be bothered! The chicken tikka was like tomato soup with tough as old boots small chunks of meat, disgusting. The saag dishes we ordered we're like tasteless slop. The chicken kormas were vile and spicy and did not have any coconut in. We put a spoon of the korma and tikka masala on a plate to taste and told the server who looked like she'd rather work in a morgue than there, who just stared blankly at us before walking off rolling her eyes. No apology or anything. We finally came to an agreement that rightly so these 2 korma dishes would be taken off of our bill. The amount of waste from what we ordered was actually sickening but the food was inedible! You can get more authentic indian food than this place in a microwavable ready meal from the supermarket The boiled rice and butter naan was probably the best dishes we ordered.. over £200 for the experience too.. We also brought a birthday cake in to be had after the meal which we then asked to take home as we couldn't bare the atmosphere any longer and we're given it back in a ripped box that had been opened and it had been deliberately ruined with some fruit and cream missing so ruined our elderly nans birthday too.. Would not recommend this place to anyone. I'd rather starve to death

Inedible ,this is the worst Indian I have tasted and I have tasted lots. Firstly once seated we were told we needed order the mains at the same time as the starters , this was obviously because if we had realised how horrible the food was we would NOT have ordered main course. Unfriendly staff , no service at all ,everything seems like an effort for the waitress especially. The Chicken Tikka masala was made from a base using tomato soup , with tough chicken which was probably frozen and NOT fresh. I would advise you to think about eating here , this was so disappointing as this was my Mums birthday and we travelled from London for this horrible food. I literally ate 3 forks and asked for the bill ! Honestly ,supermarket ready made curries would have been much better !! Avoid this place !

Celebrated special birthday for hubby here. The curry was tasty and lived up to previous visits. Our favourite place for top class Indian food.

The meal came and was nothing like I expected, what I had ordered was my fav meal and I have eaten that dish many times in different restaurants. What appeared was tasteless after eating one mouthful I sent it back complaining to the waiter .

Very good at food. I ordered a madras because I no longer had a madras; they provided me with one along with some thoughtful rice. The food was put on the table (in bowls!) and my chair worked. All the bowls were round. I felt full afterwards but I didn't want to cause any trouble so I looked away as I left, concealing no smile.

Fantastic place for a Birthday curry! The restaurant booked the place a month in advance and then confirmed with me in the week leading up to the booking. Top table on the first floor with views from the glass window were an additional benefit. It took a while for us to be asked for our orders, perhaps because the place was so busy, or perhaps because not all the party arrived on time so we had to decline to give our choices just 15 mins after the planned start time. But the food was worth the wait! Containing choices and dishes I've not seen before on an Indian menu (and I've seen a few) I would have to say that their take on the hummble poppadum and spice tray was just great. 3 different condiments including the typical mango chutney made a fabulous and unexpected start to the evening. The Lamb Malabar was just delicious and I would visit this place again just for that! I also shared a chicken Chattinadu which, whilst nice, was not quite as clear a flavour as the Malabar. The rice was fine - with the lemon being nicely piquant, and the Peshwari Naan was as good as it gets. It was a great place to celebrate a birthday and catch up with old friends and family. I would recommend it and would come here again. Thanks to the Aroma Team!

Very good authentic Indian food at fair prices. Very small selection of desserts but a good selection of main dishes and starters.

We were a large party and had to wait a while for the food. Not too much of a hardship. The IPA was good. The food made up for the wait.

Vegetarian food needs more specific taste. Paneer butter masala was very highly sweet with a distinct taste we dint liked. Roti/chapati size is very good. Dal was better than paneer. Paneer roll was okay.

Our experience at Aroma Gloucester was not good. We visited few weeks back. We dint pre book but they gave us a slot and asked to sit. Our mistake was instead sitting near the door where you can't tell if it's a waiting place or what, we tried to sit at the table( dint sit, just was about to)... this was our mistake, but the way the manager shouted, doesn't seemed nice. Let's consider it was our mistake but later his behaviour towards others and towards Indians is completely 2 sided.. It wasn't just us, other Indians visited also had same experience. Before the male manager replies to this comment, know that we also interacted with a lady and girl service representative and they were really nice to us. Coming to food... except pappad all seemed tasteless... then ate it anyway coz our day ruined anyway and went home and made butter chicken ourselves better than the served. The 1 star is for the 2 other representatives. Minus stars to the manager. I would suggest, before your customer taste your food they experience your behaviour... improve it...
