Met up with some friends for lunch here today and was not disappointed, a lovely old pub with a bit of history attached to add to the atmosphere. From walking in and finding the open fire roaring to the delicious food served and the staff being very helpful and polite . We were very pleased and will definitely be visiting this place again and have no reservations about recommending this place. Well done P + H.

Probably the best pub we have been to in a very long time. Think of what you want in a pub, this place has it, in spade fulls. Service would embarrass top London places, outstanding. Great team there. The menu had something for everyone, and the food we had was top notch. Great selection of ales as you would expect. All wrapped up in a warm and cosy atmosphere. As punters we felt welcome and valued. Next time we are in Wales this amazing pub will be at the top of our list.

Fantastic place.....we hadn't been back to the Plough for a few years, but it was wonderful to be back and find it as good as ever. Very friendly and welcoming, dogs are welcome in the bar , our lurcher was very happy. Extremely well kept selection of beers and ciders. Despitre it being pretty busy the food we ordered arrived very quickly and was fresh and tasty. Already looking forward to our next visit.

We were travelling from Australia and were shown this pub by our welsh relatives. This pub is a must to stop in after a walk along the beach nearby. There were great vegan/ vegetarian options for my sister, I had the fish and chips which I recommend. I've been going to this pub for 50 years. My dad's been going here for a lot longer! Judging by the meal we had this place is really well run right now. Not only were the usual menu items great but also the Faggotts (local butcher) were amazing. Exellent beer. Exellent food. Exellent service. If you've never been it's worth diverting off the beaten track to find it. A true ancient pub unspoilt by modern trappings. Also there's a good walk to a wild beach. No wifi, no phone signal, you have to talk to people ! This isn't a huge pub, sometimes it's quiet and sometimes it's overrun. If it's busy you might have to wait to be served.

Firstly service was extremely lacking . And very dis jointed . Drinks were bland and over priced coffee which tasted like warm milk. Meals brought out wrong . Veg cold. Roast potatoes were like cubed jacket potatoes and fried . Dry and skins on. Yorkshire dry and not homemade. Gravy like water. Overall tasteless and not great value extremely overpriced . Service was awful . Don't waste your money . We left disappointed and feeling ripped off and hungry . We was really looking forward to it lovely pub with family get together..... such a shame .

Pictures you see on Google reviews need updating the Sunday roast you see on here and expect to get is not what you have . £18 roast not worth it . Booked a Sunday lunch here. We had one turkey and one roast beef. Cooked to perfection. Very good ingredients and produce. My beef was beautiful. All home cooked. Had nice prawn starters too. My wife and I were staying locally and wanted a pub to unwind and have a meal and a drink, after a long drive. This was just the place for us. Fantastic food, great atmosphere (next to a cosy log fire in the bar side of the place), with great service (thank you Dean) that was just enough, at exactly the right time and always friendly and engaging. We loved the food and we were made to feel really welcome. Definitely coming back. (For reference, we got the lamb shank, gammon steak, cheesecake, chocolate brownie, 2 pints of Inch’s cider and a large glass of white wine for £75.30 [02/11/23] and we thought it was excellent value 👍😃)

Have been a frequent regular to the Plough and Harrow for years prior to lockdown and thought we would return to try the Sunday roast. Atmosphere was not very welcoming, staff seemed stressed and it has lost its relaxed vibe. Food arrived quickly. Beef and beef gravy was delicious and tender, the rest was a disappointment. The vegetables were obviously frozen and very under cooked, the cauliflower cheese was just a bland cheese sauce and there was sweetcorn, which is not a veg I would put with a roast. The Yorkshire pudding was hard and had been hanging around and the roast potatoes were reheated. It did not arrive hot, more luke warm. For £18 I would expect to be exceptional. We paid and left quickly. Sadly we won’t be returning.

We eat here a couple of times a year and have drinks a few more. Last week we took our son and our parents so six of us for Sunday lunch. We each had a roast and there were a choice of Beef, Lamb and turkey plus a vegetarian option. The food was delicious as usual. Each dinner is served with a generous portions of thickly sliced meat and bowls of fresh perfectly cooked vegetables. The pub was busy and our dinners came in ten minutes. Homemade desserts next and they were as good as the roasts. The service is pleasant and efficient with nothing too much hassle. The cask ales are excellent. We will be back!

I have the greatest of affection for the Plough. Food has been greatly improved recently with the arrival of a new chef. But if only the beer lineup could be improved. The ‘guest’ selection has been in residence for years and the brief appearance of some alternatives for the recent beer festival proved to be a one-off. With so many inventive and deserving breweries nearby (Dog’s Window, Tomos y Lilford, Crafty Devil, Tiny Rebel etc etc) the endless homage to HPA and Jemima’s Pitchfork Is a massive disappointment. Unfortunately the vegan option for Sunday lunch was awful. It was a spinach something ( not what was on the menu although we were told it had changed ). It come covered in a big mound of rocket to hide what looked like a small mound of Pedigree Chum. There was far too much sauce dolloped between potatoes on the plate, to pad out how little food there was. The accompanying veg came in a bowl far too small for 2 people. We were asked when it arrived if we wanted more and said yes, but it never materialised. In a world where there is such choice for vegans now, this was a poor option. I would have had a baguette but there was a choice of ham and cheese or Brie and bacon. Lovely pub, nice people, but need to cater better for non meat eaters.

It might seem odd that I rated the Plough & Harrow 5 stars but only gave the food 3 stars and the service 4 stars. All I can say is go there and you'll probably understand. It is an amazing old boozer, great beers, chock full of character and history, perhaps more so than any other pub I've ever been into ... and I've been into a lot (a lot!) of pubs. We've been going to the Plough for a long time now, sporadically rather than regularly, but enough to know it well. Like all pubs, there are times when they go through changes and that is what is happening to the Plough now. The food, where it was once reliably good pub grub, is now a bit not reliable. For example, my lamb burger was overdone. And then the methodology of getting the plates to the table, where the slightly frazzled slightly communicatively reticent co-owner stands by the door and bellows out the order numbers, is a bit, well ... could do better.

A good selection of beers and ciders, and a cozy little pub with a nice atmosphere. The food however leaves something to be desired. We booked a large group for Sunday lunch, and the organisation was a bit of a shambles with the staff not knowing how many dishes had been ordered despite ordering ahead. The beef was overcooked and tough to chew with stringy bits throughout. The roast potatoes were clearly frozen and not freshly prepared, they were tough on the outside and dry as plasterboard inside. The carrots and cabbage were overboiled and left swimming in water, and the gravy was big standard bisto quality. The saving grace however was the dessert. The cheesecake was amazing! By all means... The bar food and drinks may be good, with a great range of beers... But for a meal, go elsewhere.

What a waste of time! May 24th, pos' the warmest evening this year so far. ...'Let's go down to the 'Plough and Harrow' for an evening meal, sit outside'. Check the website before we leave, it's a half hour drive. Yup, Wednesdays, kitchen cooking from 5.30 pm. Arrive 5.28 pm...perfect. Drinks first, £10, then order. 'Can I have a menu please?' ......'oh, no we're not doing food tonight, in fact we sometimes don't always on Wednesdays.' ...'Your website doesn't say that'. .....'oh sorry, I'll get that changed'. The point is, I would not have bought 2 drinks for £10 if I had known we would not have been able to eat. And the second thing, a party of four were already drinking, and went in to re-order drinks and order food. Why were customers buying drinks not informed 'by the way just in case you want food we aren't doing it tonight' before serving drinks. Anyway that's it, many other places to eat, and the party of four are joining us.

I have been coming to this pub' for decades and it never ceases to enthral. It has changed a lot over the years from a rustic farmers' watering-hole with flitches of bacon hanging in the bar, to a trendy out of the way boozer and now more of a gastro-pub. But there is no obligation to dine and the selection of real beer is excellent. The only real disadvantage is its remoteness; public transport is infrequent and unreliable - a huge pity. Best get a group together and hire a taxi. Beware that it is exposed and can be quite chilly sitting outside, even in Summer. The walk west to the Cwm and down to the beach ~1-1/2 miles, is wonderful in late Spring - do wear hiking-shoes.

Fab grub, great choice of well kept beers and ciders and good company. One of the reasons we moved to the Vale.

Had a coffee after a very long and muddy walk. Lovely atmosphere and roaring fire. Food looked yummy too.

Saturday night bands and singers are entertaining and a good atmosphere. Food is typical pub grub - fish n chips, pies - which is good value.
