These days, there are few pubs that are worth making an effort to visit. The Plough and Harrow is an exception. It is in a fairly rural location, but there are some nice walks down to the coast, if that is your thing. The Plough and Harrow is at its best on a warm summer's day. There is plenty of outdoor seating where you can soak up the countryside. The menu is fairly standard, but good quality, and over the many times we have eaten here we've never been disappointed. The beer varies, but is kept to a very high standard, and there's almost always something new and interesting to try. Other than the addition of electric light (although candles are used a lot as well), the interior does not look like it has changed much for several centuries.

Has all the potential to be the perfect pub. But sadly the response to the dull guest beers never changing seems to have been the removal of the word 'guest'. Until they liven up the selection I'll sadly be giving it a miss

Fantastic grade 2 listed traditional pub with excellent Ake ( and a range of ciders) and first class food If you like traditional country pubs you will not find better What's more it's in the heart of some lovely countryside with a selection of easy walks including coastal footpaths with amazing views. Why not bring a tent or van and camp on the lovely nearby campsite and make a longer break?

One of the best pubs in south Wales without a doubt. Good food, real ale, a sense of history whilst also being a proper community pub. Lovely space outside to eat and drink, and just off the Wales coastal path for those who want to call in after a beautiful walk (hourly bus stop right by the pub)

Very disappointed today! Not allowed a tab to order drinks & meals in order to pay balance in full. Order taken then processed so quickly it most definitely was an attempt at warmup as must have been precooked .. as we ordered fish in batter which was not crispy but soggy warm & sausage dinner- considering cost of what is effectively a bar meal - truly was very poor quality & would’ve got much better elsewhere We have visited plough & harrow many times & always had wonderful quality food.. why? We will think twice now before we visit & such a shame as is lovely historical place !

We were camping just down the road at the Heritage Coast Campsite and stopped in the Plough and Harrow for Sunday lunch. I'd call it a proper country pub - lots of character, good food and some excellent drinks. There were a couple of real ales on tap (Jemima's Pitchfork was really nice), but for me the local ciders were the highlight - far too drinkable for their strength. The Sunday roast was very good, the beef, lamb and turkey were all lovely, and the Bara Brith bread pudding was really goog too.

This could be a great pub, it's in an amazing location. We booked a large table and I asked for two high chairs on the booking call. When we got there they didn't have any highchairs! So babies were passed around between adults who had to take it in turns to eat. We wouldn't have booked if they'd have told us that on the call, I don't know why they didn't mention it. The food was worse than home cooked. The burgers were very over done and the fish was soggy and floppy. All very disappointing unfortunately.

The last time I walked into this pub was 50 years ago when I lived in in the vicinity. I was delighted to find it still open and thriving on a sunny Spring weekend. The hospitality, food and beers are all excellent, as is the extensive beer garden. The interior is still exactly as I remember it - an authentic farmhouse feel. The only difference is that the Snug, which used to be filled with cosy armchairs, is now a Restaurant room. Highly recommended after a day at Nash Point or Monknash.

I've been going to this pub for 50 years. My dad's been going here for a lot longer! Judging by the meal we had this place is really well run right now. Not only were the usual menu items great but also the Faggotts (local butcher) were amazing. Exellent beer. Exellent food. Exellent service. If you've never been it's worth diverting off the beaten track to find it. A true ancient pub unspoilt by modern trappings. Also there's a good walk to a wild beach. No wifi, no phone signal, you have to talk to people ! This isn't a huge pub, sometimes it's quiet and sometimes it's overrun. If it's busy you might have to wait to be served.

Have been a frequent regular to the Plough and Harrow for years prior to lockdown and thought we would return to try the Sunday roast. Atmosphere was not very welcoming, staff seemed stressed and it has lost its relaxed vibe. Food arrived quickly. Beef and beef gravy was delicious and tender, the rest was a disappointment. The vegetables were obviously frozen and very under cooked, the cauliflower cheese was just a bland cheese sauce and there was sweetcorn, which is not a veg I would put with a roast. The Yorkshire pudding was hard and had been hanging around and the roast potatoes were reheated. It did not arrive hot, more luke warm. For £18 I would expect to be exceptional. We paid and left quickly. Sadly we won’t be returning.

I have the greatest of affection for the Plough. Food has been greatly improved recently with the arrival of a new chef. But if only the beer lineup could be improved. The ‘guest’ selection has been in residence for years and the brief appearance of some alternatives for the recent beer festival proved to be a one-off. With so many inventive and deserving breweries nearby (Dog’s Window, Tomos y Lilford, Crafty Devil, Tiny Rebel etc etc) the endless homage to HPA and Jemima’s Pitchfork Is a massive disappointment. Unfortunately the vegan option for Sunday lunch was awful. It was a spinach something ( not what was on the menu although we were told it had changed ). It come covered in a big mound of rocket to hide what looked like a small mound of Pedigree Chum. There was far too much sauce dolloped between potatoes on the plate, to pad out how little food there was. The accompanying veg came in a bowl far too small for 2 people. We were asked when it arrived if we wanted more and said yes, but it never materialised. In a world where there is such choice for vegans now, this was a poor option. I would have had a baguette but there was a choice of ham and cheese or Brie and bacon. Lovely pub, nice people, but need to cater better for non meat eaters.

Food was OK- but didn't live up to the old reputation this pub had as a fantastic food venue. Staff were OK- ignored us when first walked in but OK after that beer was good

I have never experienced a more fantastic pub restaurant than the plough and harrow, the food is bespoke and beyond delicious, the staff are are friendly without hovering, and the atmosphere is beachside easy going, locals and higher class mostly, fantastic! I have never rated somewhere as 5*, this place deserves it!

It might seem odd that I rated the Plough & Harrow 5 stars but only gave the food 3 stars and the service 4 stars. All I can say is go there and you'll probably understand. It is an amazing old boozer, great beers, chock full of character and history, perhaps more so than any other pub I've ever been into ... and I've been into a lot (a lot!) of pubs. We've been going to the Plough for a long time now, sporadically rather than regularly, but enough to know it well. Like all pubs, there are times when they go through changes and that is what is happening to the Plough now. The food, where it was once reliably good pub grub, is now a bit not reliable. For example, my lamb burger was overdone. And then the methodology of getting the plates to the table, where the slightly frazzled slightly communicatively reticent co-owner stands by the door and bellows out the order numbers, is a bit, well ... could do better.

Wir haben gemütlich draußen gesessen und die leckeren Speisen, Hamburger und Lasagne, genossen. Die Preise sind fair, die Portionen ausreichend groß und der Service freundlich.

Wonderful old Inn & Restaurant. Excellent staff who were very attentive. Food was extremely good and the pub/restaurant had a good choice of beers and other drinks. It was a family occasion which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Definitely come again.

Sunday lunch The venue is quaint and welcoming with a great ambiance. The service was excellent, being both friendly and efficient. The food was superb, beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. We highly recommend this gastropub.

The 3 women behind the bar were brusque and dour-faced. When I asked for a Campari and soda, the barmaid served it in a half pint glass topped up to the brim with soda. I said, I’m sorry but that’s not quite right, could you please put a measure of Campari in a glass with a splash of soda? The second attempt was again served in a half pint glass, this time a measure of Campari with a thimbleful of soda. Why the girl didn’t put the Campari in a glass and just ask me how much soda I wanted is beyond me. So I asked nicely if she could add a splash more soda. She did so whilst completely blanking me and asking another customer what she could get him. The whole ordeal was painful and as she was unfriendly and humourless, rather embarrassing. For this appalling lack of customer service and a pint of lime and soda, I was charged a scandalous £6.80. Train your staff to interact with their customers and tell them that a smile goes a long way!

Ate here with a group of four. All had separate dishes. All were amazing. Both quality and value for money. One of the overall nicest places I've eaten at for ages.
