Ocho Lounge in The Vale of Glamorgan

Ate here with a group of four. All had separate dishes. All were amazing. Both quality and value for money. One of the overall nicest places I've eaten at for ages.

I've visited a number of the Lounge venues, and all are excellent. Although a big chain, they manage to maintain individuality. Ocho had a nice feel and vibe.

Had a delightful time at Ocho Lounge, our server was Noah, he was SO friendly and I felt compelled to give a 5 star review for his service alone, thank you so much! X

I see a few negative comments but I can only give my experience I visited on Sunday, it was very busy but found a table and ordered online. The drinks arrived promptly with the food following shortly after, all was excellent. My best comment I have to reserve for the 2 gentlemen who served us, they were polite, happy, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Well done excellent service which made the visit a pleasure and the reason I write this review

One of the people who visited with me became quite ill shortly after leaving, despite having advised staff re dietary problems .

We sat at a table that had ben cleared but was left dirty, not a real problem as restaurant was very busy, ordered drinks and food drinks. drinks arrived in good time we had to wait for about 30 minutes for meal again not a problem as we chatted and took into account how busy it was. Our meals that should of been hot arrived cold not even warm. Explained to staff and in fairness they said they would change meals, they were busy so again ok everybody can make a mistake. What was really disappointing replacement meal arrived and the egg was rock solid and the rest not sure what they did but was not edible. explained to the waiter who took the meal away and gave us refund for one meal. We shared a burger we ordered and in fairness was really good . I am sure this is a one off but I think the lesson here is a mistake can happen, but make 100% you rectify it. The atmosphere was great , would I go back yes , maybe just a little staff training is needed.

The staff is very friendly. The cafe is dog-friendly, we were able to sit with our dogs on the first floor of the establishment, there is also the opportunity to sit on the track. The staff immediately brought the dogs a personal bowl of water, which was very nice of them. The food is very tasty. Separately, it is pleasing that there is a menu "gluten-free" and vegan. Pleasant atmosphere. Thank you!

I hesitated to write this review as it is hard enough to get a table now and part of me wanted to keep this great diner a secret. That would be unfair to the wonderful staff, so here goes. I normally go for a quiet place, no kids, waiter service, tablecloths. The Ocho has none of these. The decor is eclectic and you order at the bar. It is bustling and buzzing. I love it. I am working my way through the menu and have never had a disappointment. Try the Korean prawns for a light bite, the Lounge eggs for a touch of decadence. The beef brisket chilli is hearty and the breakfast amazing value. Add an Eldeflower Spritz Cocktail, especially on a hot day, and life seems good. The staff make the place. Ridiculously young looking, they are always patient, helpful and efficient. I've never had a wrong order or forgotten item. Despite often being rushed off their feet, there is never a raised voice. I often dine alone and am always given the best attention. Pricier places have ignored me. Value, efficiency, flavour and fun. What's not to love? Keep it up...oh, and save me a table!

Chicken tasted like frozen chicken, very dry, and the place is always cold, air cond far too cold, eaten there 3 times now…not impressed

Always a safe option for family outings as I know I can get a gluten free, vegan brunch and everyone else gets to enjoy normal food too! They are really great about allergies and take it very seriously which is nice ☺️ the food is always great and we love that it is dog friendly too!

Bar service can be a little slow, when staff are busy taking food orders. But overall a nice relaxing atmosphere.

The food is fine, though nothing special. The policy of no table service seems flawed. I could cross the road to Wetherspoons, get a greater selection of beers, reasonable food ( but cheaper) and order by app. What makes Ocho lounge special then?

A great place for a casual meal, or to meet friends for coffee or a cocktail. Food is good and well presented. The staff are friendly and well trained, with good knowledge of the menu.

Had the most wonderful lunch here today. My partner, 11 month old and I came for a late Sunday lunch. I never leave reviews but the food was so Flippin good I wanted to walk out the back myself and give my compliments 😂 The lovely server (don’t know his name) said Beth, Chris and Chloe were in the kitchen so compliments to them! I had the halloumi burger with fries and my partner had tapas. Best burger I think I’ve ever tasted- everything in that burger complimented itself and the taste was SO good. Thanks for a lovely afternoon and also have to mention the front of house service was also so friendly and wonderful. 👏👏

Ideal for breakfast in Penarth. A large selection of freshly prepared dishes.

It's not as comfortable as I thought it would be, and the staff are not as professional as I would have expected - they were fine, but not as good as my imagination...umm, imagined...based on how other people described it. Fortunately, the food was nicer. I only had 1 tapa with my drinks, but was surprised that a lot of the tapas usually filled with gluten in other establishments (and, indeed, in Spain) were either made gluten free or could be adjusted to make them gluten free (by swapping the bread, for instance). They were also a good price and the fried chicken was very tasty. I'll hopefully be back soon to try some more.

Handy to Penarth centre, not far from bus stops. Very friendly staff. food was OK nothing to write home about really. Bacon was cooked to a dry crisp, tables were sanitised with the condiments still in place (not good) Overall nothing Bad.

Katelynn was brilliant tonight, super friendly to us & our dog. When my burger was undercooked Katelynn sorted this out straight away. She is a credit to you.

Sunday brunch at Ocho Lounge. Easy online order system lots of food & drink options with something for each of our group including kids breakfast. Great service, highly recommend.

£10 for two small bacon sandwiches, Overpriced and miserable staff

We arrived on a Wednesday, late afternoon , looking forward to a tasty meal. There was nobody to greet us or show us to a table. We ordered our food on the mobile phone via QR code. It was fairly straightforward but not a very personable experience. We ordered the “ lounge burgers”. The food arrived fairly promptly but it was luke warm, very few fries, which were almost cold and a tasteless burger with doggy lettuce. The drinks took ages to arrive, and finally came when we were halfway through our meals. We were not asked if everything was ok at any point. A thoroughly disappointing experience unfortunately. I would not recommend Ocho lounge ( Penarth) .

Came here for food on a Saturday evening, food and atmosphere was pretty good, service from Jack was excellent.

A lovely restaurant with really nice and tasty food and drink. The atmosphere was great when we arrived with a real mix of patrons of all different ages. We were seated upstairs in a window seat which was great. Unfortunately, as establishments try to cater for everyone including dog owners, we were soon interrupted by a loud 'yapping' dog beneath us (at the table next to the stairs). It was continuous with no attempt by the dog owners to stop it. The couple at the table next to us looked over and commented that it sounded like the dog was sat with them at their table. I'm assuming because of the set up around the stairs it just resonated up to the top floor. Such a shame as we were having a lovey time until that point able to hold a conversation. I would certainly go back on the understanding that I wasn't anywhere near the stairwell. If it wasn't for the dog issue, it would have been a solid 5 stars.

Really poor , ordered a large macaroni cheese for my granddaughter, the pasta was hard and was such a small portion for over £10 , my chicken salad was just thrown together with a portion of it lying at the bottom of the paper bag carrier that cost over £ 12 . Really dissapointing

We found the Ocho Lounge as we were walking by in the neighborhood. I'm so glad we stopped in. The food was delicious. The menu had food from around the world. I had a beetroot and feta flatbread with crispy chick peas, salsa and pomegranate seeds. The flavors and the variety of textures were delicious! My partner had nasi goreng, complete with fried egg on the top. You ordered food at the bar that was then delivered to the table. There were couples and groups of friends having dinner and drinks. There is an upstairs seating area as well.

Been going to Ocho for a few years now. Nice atmosphere in fairness and the staff are always friendly. However, I’m afraid this time was the last time. The sizing of the portions tonight was ridiculous and must have surely shrunk?? We went for the Monday deal of main and free drink / pudding. I had a rice dish with chicken and egg on top. It was tiny. It didn’t even reach the edge of the bowl indentation. The egg yolk minuscule. That was just under £13. My wife had a halloumi burger with salad. It wasn’t a burger. It was two deep friend halloumi strips in a bun with a slight spread of onion relish and a tiny bit of humus. The ‘salad’ was a bit of iceberg lettuce and a few halves of baby tomatoes with a sprinkling of onion. That was around £10.50. When you go out in hospitality these days, you obviously expect to pay much more than eating in. Thats a given, obviously. You don’t expect to still be hungry when you leave, and you don’t expect to feel ripped off. Sad really, we enjoyed the deal evenings at the end of a busy day in work. Will have to find somewhere else.

A pal and I ride motorbikes to various cafes and consider ourselves as breakfast experts, great food wonderful atmosphere and wonderful staff, we will definitely be returning for more.

Very comfortable environment, friendly staff and good food reasonably priced. Been there a few times for lunch and will be returning. Update. Returned today, everything OK apart from a dog that barked constantly throughout my meal. The staff should have asked the customer to leave.

Ocho lounge is one of those places which covers a lot of categories. Great for brunch, casual lunch and dinner. And meeting friends for a evening drink.

Music could be quieter and I think they need more curtains to dampen sound a bit and help prevent echo.

12 of us went for Monday morning breakfast. We had booked, so they'd given us a long table upstairs, which we had to ourselves. A lot of us had a cooked breakfast, some had pancakes. As you can imagine, with a dozen different orders, there was a huge chance something would go wrong. Nothing did! Our lovely food all came, exactly as we'd ordered. Freya, who took the order, was not only efficient, but friendly and very patient. 10/10 Ocho!!

I feel compelled to write a review of our recent visit for brunch. We were a family unit of 12 people and pleasing us all is no mean feat. Freya was the waitress who took our comprehensive order. She was amazingly patient as we altered this and that, asked questions etc. she remained friendly and approachable throughout our visit. We were amazed when all our brunches arrived exactly as we had requested. The food was hot and delicious. We couldn’t have asked for more from our visit.

Good service, my only issue was with the food - New, Rose's pulled chicken truffle, presentation/looked awful needs salad type dressing, quality ingredients and tasted great, really enjoyed it, but, not enough somewhere between a starter and a main, it needed rice or bread accompaniment. (Good value) left still hungry.

Arrived with no waiting for available table and no obvious rush but didn't look upstairs. Ordered hot drinks and desserts. Drinks arrived promptly and told desserts would follow shortly. Table adjacent seemed to be experiencing delay. After about an hour desserts (cheesecake and churros) hadn't arrived. No unsolicited explanation or apology was offered. We were downstairs and it wasn't particularly busy - maybe upstairs it was different but that doesn't excuse the tardy and disrespectful way we were treated. Why was no advisory given at time of taking payment and order? I asked for the cost of the desserts to be refunded and we left - our evening ruined. Clearly a reflection of poor management and training. A disgraceful and inexcusable way to treat customers. Won't be returning.

This is our favourite, regular place to relax and chill. Food always good and staff very friendly.

Food is really good, but why oh why are they so stingy with their chips? The burgers are expensive, but really good, but come with a pathetically small cone of chips in an old tin mug. I've mentioned it to them and they say they'll look into it but never do. When you pay £14 for a burger, it's nice to have a decent portion of fries, not a small handful.

Bang bang chicken was outstanding

This is a fast food place with both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Service was nice and staff are friendly. Cutlery needs to be better checked.

was here a while ago and loved it but not this evening i wanted a coke to start for drinks and it didnt taste right they agreed after trying it that the coke syrup had run out so the guy came over to my table and asked would a bottle be ok i said yes thats fine he said i wont charge you the extra for it as it must have been more then on tap i guess which was fair enough my issue isnt about that allthough it wasent a good start to the evening but it got worse a lady who was in a wheelchair sat near me and started talking how is your life then and to make things worse she stunk of urine i said to her not to be rude but i came out for piece queit drinks food and thats it think she got the message but i think customers like that in a place like this no good for hygeine when people are eating i had to go elsewhere for food as my evening here was somewhat spoiled.

My second visit for a tapas lunch . What great value and great flavours! I wholeheartedly recommend Ocho Lounge it is absolutely great.

My grandson and I had a lovely lunch yesterday. He had macaroni cheese and garlic bread. When I spilt a full cup of coffee over the table they were so attentive and brought me another cup and they were so sweet.

Poor service right from the off. Struggled to get a smile out of anyone. Ordered at the bar and was met with grumbles. Waited for drinks for one of them to be spilt over the table by waitress but no offer from them to clean up. Ordered dessert which took an hour to come and that was after prompting. It arrived cold and was very dry. Clearly been sat there for a while. Cocktails were average at best. Better off going to spoons.

Great atmosphere, for reading alone with a cuppa waiting for friends. Once they arrived we moved to a larger table and ordered food, which was delicious. Great service and pet friendly (I always enjoy meeting new doggos whilst out!).

Went for bunch on a Sunday morning, nice and quiet with plenty of seating available. Staff were polite and helpful. Easy no hassle experience, which is exactly what you need on a Sunday morning.

Good food in nice surroundings.

I have moved out of Penarth now, and honestly my biggest loss has been Ocho. I cannot count the number of times that I have been here, and each time the food has been impeccable, the service outstanding and the atmosphere is always great. For breakfast, a coffee, lunch or dinner, Ocho does not disappoint. Great value for money, and I love how its always open and welcoming. The online paying now is also a massive bonus (but you can also order at the counter if you want. Best place to eat in Penarth!

Relaxed atmosphere, quick service, yummy wholesome food, plenty of gluten-free and vegan or dairy free options (simultaneously for those of us with multiple intolerances) and portion size felt just right.

Super food!! good service & atmosphere

Service is always good, food tasty, but watch out for the ketchup bottles, top not screwed on and I managed to cover myself, table, floor and sofa with ketchup in giving the bottle a shake... Refund given on my meal.

The food is always great, prices are reasonable but unfortunately the 'in house' Coke always tends to be flat!

Ocho Lounge has fast become my favourite place to eat out, or just to have drinks, and felt I wanted to share my heartfelt thanks to everyone who keeps this place running smoothly and efficiently; I appreciate how hard everyone works, also keeping it nice and clean, and is apparent throughout the visits I've made. Thank you, guys for making Ocho the place it is - very unique, with a warm, friendly, welcoming, relaxing atmosphere, where all ages like to spend time, including babies, children and pensioners. I was also very happy to see that dogs are welcomed! The food is lovely, and a variety to suit all palates. My mother said it was the best veggie cooked breakfast she has ever had, and you won't get sweet potato fries cooked to such perfection anywhere else! It is also wonderful that we can have a choice of non-dairy milks for coffee and hot chocolate. I can't fault Ocho lounge, but as you suggest to 'sprinkle in a few tips', a good stout such as Guiness, or something similar at the bar would be a good idea, and a bowl of water for the dogs out of the way by the bookcase would be very helpful, as they wait patiently for their owners to dine, they also get parched and in need of refreshment. An average place, a little pretentious but staff are pleasant

What a great evening we had at my future daughter in law’s Hen Party. We were a group of 18 and so pre-ordered our meals from the great menu. From the time we arrived the staff were super helpful and friendly and made us very welcome. It was easy to order drinks at the table or go to the bar - a great range of cocktails and mocktails kept everyone very happy. The food was excellent and we had chosen a wide range from the menu. I had Nasi Goreng which was delicious. The Bang Bang Chicken was highly recommended as were various burgers. The atmosphere was relaxed and we had a great evening thanks.

Really delicious food. We ordered a flatbread, the bang bang chicken and a side of Mac and cheese - all great! Friendly service and relaxed atmosphere.
