She is absolutely amazing and made sure everything was perfect and couldn't do enough for us. The customer service from the whole team was exceptional. Your waiters and waitresses are fabulous. The entire experience was perfect and the food was delicious. Thank you so much for making our day so special and huge thanks to Gosia for managing the whole booking process for us. Fantastic first visit to Courts today. Service was fast, friendly and impeccable. Lunch menu with the courses for £24 I thought was pretty good value. The arrancini balls starter was absolutely stand out, as were the Manhattan stack dessert... but aside from the goats cheese salad which had far too much dressing, all our party had excellent food. Good selection of vegetarian and vegan options too. The venue is beautiful! Can't believe it's taken me so long to go here. Really recommended!!

Visited on a Friday lunchtime to try the lunchtime menu. Food and service was great but it was very quiet! Gorgeous decor inside would definitely return.

Sunday for our grandpa,s birthday, a wonderful experience . The food was delicious , and great value , however the attentiveness and level of service was second to none . From the moment we arrived the service was exceptional , so impressed . A wonderful sparkler on grandads desert , umbrella to the car for him . Brilliant , thanks all for a lovely Sunday afternoon we will return and thoroughly recommend .

I got taken here to celebrate my birthday, and the young waiter saw my family toasting me prior to our meal. The food was delicious and portions just the right size, so we had a 3 course meal. During the neal, the waiter, who was brilliant throughout our visit brought me a complimentary glass of fizz. When the waiter brought my dessert it had a large candle in it and he burst into happy birthday. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit made special not just because of the lovely food but by the professional waiter.

The place itself looks amazing but the service was not great the female that served us was very hard to connect with the food was just ok we had lamb I got it pink it was tough my friend got it well done it was even tougher and the food was cold We kept this restaurant for our last night on holiday what a letdown the fish and chips we had in Brecon two nights before were better disappointed 😞

I visited Courts with my family for the first time on Saturday evening and was blown away. The service was incredible - Mel was attentive, helpful, friendly and so wonderful with us, as were the rest of the staff. The food was delicious! One of the best meals and dining experience I’ve had. Can’t wait to go back and experience the lunch and Sunday lunch menus! Thank you!

Our visit was for a small Intimate wedding meal. I really don't know what I was expecting but it was amazing all around. Service friendly and accommodating. Food was great portions and fabulously presented with tastes to tickle your tastebuds in abundance. Bar was well stocked with plenty of choice. Overall they were amazing nothing was too much trouble for them to make the day special. So thankyou everyone at Courts for the sunshine you put into our day 30.8.24.

When I arrived at Courts me and my partner were warmly greeted by the hostess Mel and was seated immediately. The atmosphere was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for the waiting staff Mel and Kim. Our food was spectacular and we'll presented. I will be back soon, thank you

I cannot stress highly enough what a delight Courts is, the food, the ambience and the service are all five star. Also as a married woman and mother in her late 40’s it’s amazing to have somewhere local without travelling to Cardiff to dress up and have a dance on the nights they have a DJ or an event. It’s amazing!!!!

Went for food with a couple of friends since we were coming from different areas. We saw courts and decided to go there. We arrived to a beautiful restaurant inside and out! Ordered drinks and sat at our table. Food was absolutely perfect! The best Sunday roast we’ve ever had in wales. Just a shame about the service. We asked many times for the music to be turned down to no avail. Drinks took forever to come to our table and even then seemed like it was a chore for the waitress. From what we could see there was a lack of managers there or someone to lead from the front as they all just did what they wanted to do. Even seen a few of them start crying. Would definitely go back in the service from them improved

Outstanding food ,good value and nice portion sizes, beautifully cooked and presented well . We had a large party , unfortunately service was lacking . Servers were attentive at the table , but slow to respond with drinks . People were eating starters at all different times due to delivery! I had to leave table twice to find a member of staff to reorder drinks and ask if we could order dessert. Would have preferred our table to be more spread out., not against two walls, This would have alleviated problems serving and collecting dishes !! Would I go back ? Yes. Would I hope for quicker service ? Yes

Hands down the worst meal and service I’ve ever experienced. Understaffed, slow service. Awful, cheap food passed off as ‘fine dining’ We were fond of courts after many enjoyable visits, we’ll never go back again. The company’s liquidation has clearly had a huge impact and this place is now on its last legs. I’ve never been somewhere and refused to pay for the meal before. disgraceful attitude from management when we tried to resolve amicably- we were made to wait around for 90 mins as no one had the authority to deal with the complaints. Avoid at all costs.

We live quite close to the restaurant and we wanted it to be great, but it wasn't. The Camembert was fantastic, but £13 for two scallops without pancetta (supposed to be part of the starter) was disappointing. The worst thing was the fillet steak. On appearance it looked ok, it was pink but it was dry as a bone. We sent it back to the kitchen and they said it was fine. You would think that the customers opinion would be considered, we know what a good steak tastes like. It's quite clear the kitchen didn't care. I hope the management doesn't ignore this review, I cannot express enough how poor the attitude of the kitchen staff was tonight. There was a few group bookings tonight, but the rest of the customers shouldn't suffer with poor food and service.

Going down hill waitress kelly was rude and disrespectful. Didn’t think a posh restaurant would hire such a nasty young woman. food was cold and music was to loud myself and friends won’t be returning.

Where do I start! We absolutely love this place. The food is always spot on & the service is always amazing. The venue itself is beautiful & renovated to a really high standard. We’re always greeted with a friendly warm welcome & you can always guarantee a great atmosphere. The restaurant is great if you want a couples date night, or a night out with friends.

I visited here for lunch with a friend who was visiting me on a flying visit for a few hours from Australia. I wanted it to be a good eating, nice place, quiet etc for us to catch up etc. This is not far from home and we would normally have eaten in Penarth, but town was very busy, so I decided to drop in here. The whole meal was very good. Food good etc etc. This is not cheap, but on balance probably worth it.

Visited for the first time this evening with various family members. First, the positives. The decor is really nice with plenty of outside seating. Staff are friendly and the food on the whole was good. The exception to that was the calamari, which was unfortunately very chewy. Now, the not so positive. The majority of us ordered food from the bbq menu, and it was served in takeaway boxes, which we all felt was slightly strange in a restaurant setting. Service was unfortunately awful, and while the staff were very apologetic, it did impact our visit. We spent almost 3 hours in the restaurant, and after we had initially been served, we had to ask for additional drinks and whether we could order dessert. When our second round of drinks arrived, they were wrong and had to be sent back. They then brought us our bill before we had asked for it and before we had finished our drinks. When it arrived there were 8 drinks on it which we had not ordered. We told one of the staff, and it came back with 2 removed but still the additional 6 on it. We had to send it back a third time before it was corrected. If they can sort the service issues, it will be a lovely place, and we will definitely give them a second chance as overall the food was nice, and it could have just been an off day.

First visit here. Excellent service. Excellent cocktails. Lovely atmosphere. Although the sun was shining which helps. Good luck to this place and I will return. The only disappointment is putting a service charge on the bill. That said to be fair the waiter asked if I was ok with it.

Changed a lot since I was last the Barons Court. Food was good, decour was different but that cones down to your taste. One major negative was the chap that served me, he was not rude but far from welcoming and friendly 🤔 Maybe I didn't match the dress code or he just didn't like the look of me 😕 He seemed to treat the people on the next table better 🙄. Unfortunately won't be rushing back 🥺

First time here today and was blown away by Jag’s service.. It was out of this world. He was attentive from start to finish and cannot thank him Enough for showing me around too. Venue was stunning throughout. Food was Devine! Cauliflower cheese was one of the nicest I’ve ever tasted. Cannot wait to come back 🥰

This is one of our favourite places of all. We visit at least once a week. Drinks, lunch or dinner you can go for anything. Children are welcome also my daughter loves the children’s menu amazing portion sizes. The staff are lovely and remember you which is so nice. Makes you feel really special.

Lively atmosphere with great staff. Super Sunday Roast. Careful of the wine though, it’s expensive.

My husband and I called in here on our way back from an art exhibition. This was our first visit here. We wanted to celebrate our purchase with a glass of bubbly and the attractive exterior enticed us in. There is ample car parking and the beer garden had a cool and vibrant ambience with an outside bar and music piped from the DJ booth. On arrival, we were greeted by the restaurant manager Salvo who was very polite, friendly and professional. He showed us to the bar area where we ordered a bottle of pink champagne. The interior had a very sophisticated vibe with energy although we wanted somewhere a little quieter for a drink. After enquiring where the best place to sit was, Salvo took our drinks and showed us upstairs to the VIP area away from the buzz of the bar. We were so taken by the decor, the friendly and professional service and whole vibe of the place, we ended up ordering a meal to finish off a lovely evening. We were so pleased we did as the food was outstanding (Black cod with rice and artisan vegetables). We could see the venue was popular with a younger crowd but there was definitely a good mix of people of all ages. We wanted a special end to an already successful evening and Courts definitely provided that. We have found our venue for an exciting night out, just on the outskirts of Cardiff! Thank you Courts, we will be back.

This was our first visit, it was exceptional! My husband and I had the steak sharer, it was cooked perfectly and fell apart at every bite, it was outstanding! We really was amazed by how right the owner got it, the establishment was sophisticated, charming and beautifully decorated inside and out. We sat outside and enjoyed the glorious sunshine, staff were polite and professional which added to our wonderful experience. The owner also took the time out to have a chat, what a gentleman! This is most definitely our new favourite go to and we can't wait to start working our way through the menu. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.

Courts is housed in an impressive building, which has been tastefully restored over the years. On the inside, the original fireplace has been maintained, and is apparently used on colder days. Overall, the interior is pleasant and nicely laid out. It would make a nice venue for a wedding, or similar. However, the plants dotted around the restaurant are plastic, which is a shame. The food is priced slightly above average in terms of cost, we spent £180 on three three-course meals, including wine. The star of the show was probably the Camembert starter, which came with a pleasant relish. We asked for a medium rare rib-eye steak, but it came overcooked. This is unforgivable. The steak itself was good quality, just ruined by being overcooked. We did mention this to the waitress at the end of the meal, who said she could have done something if we had mentioned it sooner. I’m not sure what. Perhaps two of us could have finished our meals while another steak was cooked? For the duck main course, the produce was again good quality, pink and quite delicious. The main drawback was the sauce was added on one end of the plate, meaning some of the duck was oversauced. The calamari starter was pleasant, if somewhat monotonous. The dessert menu was quite bland and with limited choice. The espresso cocktail was watery, you could taste the vodka, but it lacked that espresso zing. We will not return to Courts. There are better restaurants and there are better value for money eating experiences in the area with real plants.

Took ages for waiter to offer a drink. He seemed to ignore the table. There was a party that was horrendously loud. Steaks looked as if it had been bought from asda. Suggest you don't serve food when there is a party

Forgot to post this review Christmas time. Lovely food atmosphere staff. Accessible entry. And accessible toilet on ground floor however, mirrors too high up for a wheelchair user etc did email manager to let them know hopefully changed. There is an upstairs another bar but no lift access. They Had a great band on and another outdoor area to sit and enjoy too. Done the place up beautifully. Thanks

Food is really good, unfortunately I feel the atmosphere is club like, music too loud whilst dining. Found it hard to talk whilst eating. Not sure what the venue is trying to be.

Quite shocked, went here for Sunday lunch on recommendation. Ordered the lamb dinner, food tasted fine but the amount of lamb we were given was ridiculous, it wasn't even one slice, disguised by stuffing shaped the same. Two minute scoops of ice cream and a not very nice creme brulee, rounded off a highly priced Sunday dinner. Too polite to complain on first visit. But it will also be our last. Very disappointed.

Been here twice now and the service, food and drinks have honestly been fantastic. We've been lucky enough to have had Melanie serve us and she has been amazing on both occasions. Would really recommend this place. I cant fault the place. As 2 fussy eaters we've been genuinely thrilled with service and meals.

Completely blown away with the Courts and what was on offer the venue has been refurbished to a high standard mostly, excellent food with something really special about every dish served, great live music with a DJ set to follow creating a lively atmosphere which was welcoming and upbeat. My only two complaint is despite the restaurant small venue the service was somewhat to be desired waiting long periods in between courses creating a poor “flow” for a high class establishment that the Courts is now aiming to be waiting until just before dessert for the water to finally be put down after asking four times for it. The men’s toilet was also missing a lock on the only bathroom stall available with the toilet roll just sat on the “wet” floor next to it again not what you’d expect. However the two above points were quickly forgotten when the food did arrive my party of four were absolutely blown away with the fresh blend of flavours, exciting dishes and superbly put together menu as a whole with alterations available at request and a broad vegetarian and vegan menu. To summarise despite what i’d assume are growing pains from being within it’s first true year of being open under new management it is a hidden gem in Cardiff and absolutely worth a visit.

Called in on an off-chance for Sunday lunch. It was the best Sunday lunch experience I've had in a long time. I chose the lamb, which was full flavoured, and cooked to perfection. I had a side of pigs in blankets. Vegetables are served separately, and extra gravy and cauliflower cheese were provided. The staff are polite and helpful, and the background music was not too loud, and perfectly suited the atmosphere.

Very disappointed!! Awful , long wait for the food and the attitude of the waitress was absolutely disgusting. We had been discussing as a family about the food the waitress decided to involve herself in our family discussion by leaning over and commenting. They had not prepared for the group and so we were left passing the plates around the table . Ruined the birthday meal atmosphere to the point we couldn't wait to get out of there. The portions were all different sizes even though the majority of us ordered the same meal . Chips were well overdone, and the food was only warm 100% have no intention of returning , attitude of the waitress was disgraceful

Having heard very good things about this place myself and a friend decided we’d treat ourselves to a Sunday lunch date with one another this weekend. First impressions were that it has a high attention to detail with the interior design. Last time we visited it was a humble Toby carvery on a busy junction. This time it was still a poor setting on a busy junction. The location really lets this place down and I sincerely hope they move it to somewhere or branch out to somewhere to do this brand justice. We were seated promptly and 10 mins ahead of our booking after expecting to be asked to wait. I must say the Sunday lunch seating is cramped. There’s not much privacy and there was a lot of cross table interruptions from neighbouring tables listening to our private conversation. This really wasn’t appreciated. We ordered a bottle of red to share. Which was great. We opted for the cheapest red and it was lovely. Service wise a big red flag was when our starters arrived (one Brie bites and one bbq pork belly). As we were busy talking we hadn’t quite started our first course, after about 5 mins of them being sat before us (and I’d already taken photos of them) a waitress came along and told us they weren’t ours. From my seat I could see they were whisked about the bar area for a few laps before being delivered back to the couple on the table right next to us. They were also aware if this. We eventually got our actual starters and they were lovely. The main course was outstanding in its quality. The cauliflower cheese is something else!!! Aside from things outside of the control of the company, the food was outstanding. Service and setting could be better. If this brand demand £100 for a Sunday dinner for two with wine it really needs to step up In other areas than just the quality of food

Great atmosphere. Waitresses were very attentive. Sunday lunch option and opted for the belly pork. Come on guys, wobbly belly pork. Much rather a crispy crackling top. However, very tasty and great option of veggies. Ease off on the tarragon in the red cabbage though. Will always eat here, as the food is of a high standard

I popped in for a couple of drinks, great service and atmosphere. The landlord is really friendly and welcoming.

A Friday night. Bar was quiet but the restaurant was busy. We had a booking. Limited menu but tasty options. Prawns to start and fillet steak for the main. Steak was perfectly cooked. This place has potential. Improvements 1. Maybe put the menu in a leather wallet rather than just A4 pieces of paper - it looks cheap 2. Increase the price so you don’t have to have supplements. £4 for a tiny bit of sauce with the steak is a bit of a rip off.

Xmas was made extra special when visiting Courts the Winter wonderland was amazing and well worth a visit - we were there Xmas Eve and New Years Eve both fabulous evening with great food, entertainment and atmosphere. The decorations are beautiful and makes you feel in the Christmas spirit. Thank you to all the team who work tirelessly to make the visits there so pleasurable.

First time at Courts for our wedding anniversary, firstly I was overwhelmed at the decor which was absolutely stunning . However I cannot say the same about the disgusting overpriced food that was served to myself. I wish I had taken a photo of this food because you would not believe what they served up. Firstly my food arrived literally cold, not even warm. Sent it back and received it once my husband had eaten half of his meal. They had reheated the meal in the microwave, looked like a dollop of mushy cabbage with a few sliced potatoes and dried chicken. Omg I have never seen anything so terrible, I politely said I cannot eat this pile of sh*t . Would never go back .

Had a fabulous time at Courts yesterday. Service and food was excellent. I only wish we had visited earlier in December as the decor and Winter wonderland is beautiful.

The first time my partner and I visited, we regretted it, but ultimately gave the Courts the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, the second time was just as bad. Went to the Winter Wonderland this time, but the service was shocking. Waited for almost 20 minutes at the bar while they served every other person waiting, and eventually left after being completely ignored. Would go anywhere else in Penarth before coming back.

Managed to squeeze us in after a short wait. Really busy with Christmas parties but service was great, food was excellent. Good choice of sauces. Missed the sticky toffee desert which wasn't on their current menue and needs to return. Atmosphere was very up beat. Always have a lovely experience when we visit.
