Normally a place; highly thought of The Station (Platform 3) let itself down when my family visited for a long awaited family meal. Staff appeared lethargic and paid little attention and we should have gone somewhere else. Our order came out late in an empty restaurant. Some forty minutes later after giving in the order and we'd honestly thought of walking out because we'd gone past it! Lame excuses greeted us, as did the food which was as cold as the stare we'd given the waitress when she forgot to bring out the tea we'd ordered with our food...."Yes, Yes oh I hadn't forgotten I was getting round to you." was the pitiful excuse. A shambles really if there was one bright spot my sons enjoyed their food. Service, I am sure you'll have guessed terrible

Had the Saturday tapas special . Choice of three tapas dishes , three cocktails and either 3 Prosecco or 3 sangrias for £25 . The drinks are good but the food is excellent. Good sized portions ,very well cooked, presented and tastes great. Very good value for money

Have been waiting to try a visit here but our first attempt was weather related. We managed to get in Saturday 14th June and were seated in the beer garden which with the Sun shining was extremely pleasant. After a lovely cold pint we ordered the recommended garlic mushrooms and also prawn cocktail. Both were fresh plentiful and so reasonably priced. The sauce the mushrooms were in was delicious and made you want to eat it like soup with a spoon. We then chose our mains which was a lovely presented seafood linguine which was packed with prawns, mussels and squid in a rich creamy sauce with pasta cooked to perfection. A home made lasagne was thick, meaty and full of flavour accompanied by home made chips made for another lovely main course. We shall definitely be back to try other items on the menu. Service was quick and polite and made the evening ejoyable

Tuesday meal in the evening was good. In London lucky to get 8 pieces of scampi , in this hotel I got 14 (this was for a 'light' meal). Wednesday Night was a carvery night. Fantastic roast dinner with a selection of 4 different roast joints along with all the trimmings. Breakfasts were also good and hearty. Set me up for the day.

over priced for what you get, waited a long time for food even though there was only us waiting! Very outdated needs being into the 21st century. Food wasn’t awful but could of been a lot better, most likely want be visiting again.

Recently visited our local pub to check out the new menu I’ve heard being talked about! (In a good way) I was very pleased with the lovely waiting service we received. Quite, calm relaxing family space with a good atmosphere for children. The food speaks for itself my hanging tikka kebab was beautifully cooked & perfectly presented, the sterloin steak was mouthwatering a must try great value for money! Alround winner..No complaints & will definitely be returning in the future to try the Sunday Roast!

The Station Hotel has always had a good reputation for wholesome home cooked meals but the recent launching of Platform 3 has taken the restaurant to a new level. The staff have worked hard on the new menu and it is excellent, far superior to normal pub grub. The pub has continued with some of the old favourites so there is always a meal to suit all tastes.

We went for a meal as we are trying to find a lovely restaurant to celebrate a 50th anniversary later this year. We had heard good reviews and assumed this would be a good idea. The menu looked good and when the food came out it looked ok. The pie was sold as steak and ale however it was full of potatoes and hardly any meat. The beef contained tubes and the pasty was raw underneath. When we told the server she was very apologetic and took the meal back. She came back from the kitchen to tell us the chef said if you have it again it will be the same ???? Why would you order the same So we plumped for fish. This came out and was off. The smell was awful and again inedible. The server didn’t charge for the meal but two bad meals in one sitting was poor. Only one server to assist all the tables meant that she was stressed and had little time to provide great customer service- not her fault. Obviously this restaurant will not be visited again

An excellent new menu and revamp to the restaurant in The Station Hotel. I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch night so had the opportunity to sample a variety of dishes from the new menu. All the food was delicious and I particularly enjoyed the brie starter and lamb main course. We subsequently visited for a meal and I had the chicken tikka hanging kebabs and my husband and nephew the mixed grill. All meals were tasty, plentiful and well presented. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit or two.

This was so disappointing. Reasonable price of £6.50 for hot drink and cake. Although the coffee was ok the cake (we had a few of the cakes in our group) were not good quality and begrudgingly paid for them. Also the milkshakes were really poor.

Called in late Sunday morning after long bike ride. Coffee was okay, bacon toastie not so good. Toast was limp / bit soggy from sweating on plate and bacon not really cooked, think it must have been microwaved as under cooked and more boiled than grilled, no real taste to it - disappointing. Always try to use independent cafes but on this occasion should have gone up road to Greggs.

My wife, 2 children and visiting relatives went to your cafe today. And I was absolutely astounded by the poor service and lack of communication. We arrived at around 10:20 and was seated outside, we had our drinks order taken and breakfast order, but was told the kitchen was quite busy so to expect a slight wait… What we was not told was that the slight wait would turn into not getting our food until gone 11:40. When I got up to ask the young man who was serving how long the breakfast would be, he replied saying they stop serving breakfast at 11:30 not realising we had ordered already he said it shouldn’t be much longer (no apology given for the wait). And even then some of the food was cold, and the bacon my wife had was inedible. Will definitely not be returning
