Last minute decision and so very glad we did! We met with the kids grandparents here and wow, loved it. - plenty of seating inside - seating outside - small play area for kids - the food can be snacks or a full meal - catered and understood really well re our daughters coeliac challenges with food and cross contamination - the breakfast was delicious, even at lunch time - we stayed even longer and then had cakes - the biggest slice of cake I’ve ever seen at the best price (had to box and take home) - lovely staff Of course there is also spa/food market, pots and plants, cards and gifts, furniture for sale and more. We had such a great time. Thank you so much Eve

Came for breakfast. Very poor. Bacon was so hard that I couldn't cut it, clearly pre-cooked and reheated. Breakfast wasn't hot. Toast was pre buttered, why? Just makes it soggy and cold by the time it reaches the table, Delighted to see dog friendly but not impressed to see 2 French bulldogs sitting up at the table eating sausages off the table with their paws on the tabletop (witnessed by serving staff who ignored it) won't be returning or recommend

I live locally and visited for breakfast and was looking forward to it after hearing it was quite good there. The full English Breakfast was average at best. The bacon was fatty and clearly reheated and not cooked fresh. The toast arrived well after the breakfast and despite describing it on the website as farmhouse toast was a thinly sliced cheap "savers" type bread. The only redeeming feature for me was the sausages which is why I have given an extra star. Overpriced for what you get and you can get so much better locally for less. I won't be returning

Visited for Sunday breakfast. Place has been refurbished and it was very cold as none of the heating was on. So sat by log burner that had one log on it and staff tried in vain to bring up temperature. Try lighting it an hour before opening up and maybe a door between the freezing cold shop and the cafe. We sat freezing in our coats. We would have been no colder outside. Look I know there is a cost of living media hysteria at the moment but this was ridiculous. Luke warm cappuccinos did nothing to warm us up. Food was uninspired I had breakfast hash that was basically a sausage cut into bits and re heated left over roast potatoes with a bit of onion and some cremated bacon with a fried egg. Not the best. It was also really salty excessively so in my opinion. My wife ordered the special brioche sausage sandwich which had a small lump of sausage meat in it and a very small hash brown and some limp greenery. Not really worth the visit or the amount we spent. Why do people think that providing breakfast that is so cost controlled in a freezing environment is the same as hospitality. For why they are charging it’s not too much to ask that they provide something appetising in a warm environment. Why work in hospitality if you are not hospitable ? Small businesses are all about local support. We won’t be going there again ! To be fair the lady did offer to change my wife’s order but we were hungry and cold so just put up with it which is probably the order of the day. Shame because if it had its own door and was closed off from the shop it would warm up and if the menu was better it would no doubt be a goldmine. There is no excuse for cold coffee if it is being made to order a tiny probe thermometer in the frothy milk jug shows if the milk you have frothed has cooled down because of the Baltic ambient temperature in the room. If you are worried about energy bills why open at all ?

I placed a phone order with the manager Tasha on Monday the 28th of December for 4 plates of their mince pies for a Christmas party being held the following weekend. I paid for the 4 plates ( £27.80 ) and arranged collection for the Friday . Tasha said she wouldn’t be in be they would be put by because they had just had a delivery. When I arrived on Friday morning to collect there were only 3 plates which the staff were looking for on the shop floor because they hadn’t been put by . The mince pies I received were broken , burnt and the date on one of them was the 6th of December so that was obviously the week before delivery as the others were the 14th . I find this unacceptable as I’d paid in full for goods that weren’t there . I feel the shop has gone down hill over the last year and I will not be spending my money there anymore.

Stopped by and cafe was buzzing. We were warned there would be a wait which was ok. There was gluten free bread. Both of us had sandwiches - one was a special - crab , the other tuna. Comes with small pot of chips and a bit of garnish- few leaves of lettuce and 1 mini tomato. Tasty but not cheap. Wanted another special but had sold out - need to cross this off blackboard when sold out. Was still on board when we left. Good selection of cakes but we did not partake. Farm shop is good. Would return if passing but would not go for a specific trip.

In many ways I like this place...the host is friendly, the soup my friend had very good as was the scone that came with it, the one vegan option available was very good too. ...a vegan breakfast. But that is the crunch...there was only one vegan option...one of the assistants thought egg was vegan saying some vegans eat eggs! I was told the soup was vegan too (altho after the egg comment I was not so sure). When the website said there were vegan options I expected more....I mentioned this when ordering and was told they could make something up for me.We were asked what we thought of the food. We complimented the host...but my friend said she thought it was a bit pricey. He took it in good grace and said there is a plan to have half price on Mondays to Wednesday.

As we like to support small independent businesses where we can, we stopped here for lunch when passing up the A21. Consulting the menu we raised an eyebrow at the cost of £10.95 for a sandwich served with chips (extra £1 supplement if you want the prawn sandwich...) but expecting perhaps something a little special we decided to give it a go. Total Bill for sandwich and coffee lunch for 2 adults and a toddler came to over £33! However the disappointment came when the food arrived. Nothing special, just a simple sandwich and a few chips (probably could have had better from M&S up the road). But our Daughter's £4+ Kids (Half) Cheese Sandwich was the worst bit. One measly slice of cheese, one slice of white bread cut in half, no crisps, chips or fruit or even a bit of garnish... for over £4! How anyone could have served that up for that price is beyond me. I can honestly say that this was the worst value for money I've had anywhere for years.

I stumbled across this eatery by mistake, drawn to Planters by the vintage side of their business (also good!)The bistro is light, airy and welcoming, the owner/manager a great host. Cakes all made on site are fresh, large and flavourful, menu is small but encompasses a lot and seems well received, coffees have been lovely. I work in Lower Sussex frequently and now plan a journey to allow me to stop here on the way home. Every visit has been great, staff are attentive and the atmosphere lovely. Coffees as mentioned are good, scones were fresh and the pulled pork burger was delightful, it is a little pricey but i've come back a handful of times so obviously doing something right.100% will bring my family (that;s 90 miles away) to spend an afternoon here, chef by trade it's rare i write i review. Lovely catch up over coffee and cake with the girls from work We work locally and all in all opposite locations and was a toss up of where to have our girls after work birthday catch up. Checked on line and suggested 5.30 cafe closure so sped straight down after work and arrived about 4:50 ishInitially advised was closed which was a worry as not what the online timings suggested as we opted for Planters which was further than had we have gone to another venue closer to work. The lady who was clearing down was lovely and although had advised was closing up agreed that we could order.Great service from Georgie, lovely cakes and I enjoyed a good mug of coffee too! We sat in the sun and had a great catch up as intended. We knew they closed at 6, and although Georgie had come out to say had finished up another lady from the store popped her head out about 5.40 just to say would be closing at 6, didn’t rush us but was just a heads up. It was, without doubt, one of the best BLT sandwiches (served with salad and chips) I have had! I also appreciated the mug of hot black coffee. Popped into the cafe today as we had some time to kill. We have always said we would go and try the cafe so today was an ideal day. Lovely surroundings although you do have to walk all round the houses to get to the cafe entrance. I ordered a flat white coffee which was luke warm probably my own fault for not asking for the milk to be heated up I assumed it would be. But the main reason for the disappointment was the “hot sausage rolls” again luke warm pastry and cold sausage meat. Yes I know we should have said something at the time but we were so hungry we just ate them anyway. The place was empty so they were not run off their feet. Something so simple could have been so much nicer.

Even supplied us with a carrier bag to put it in! Cannot praise them enough. Lovely place with an interesting selection of products to buy.

Small but different menu, delightful staff and quick service. Large shopping facility but need to book for popular times.

Had a fab afternoon tea. So much we took some home. The breakfast was excellent but a bit overpriced. The staff are very helpful. The whole restaurant is a pleasant place to sit. And for warm days a nice outside area.

Its all be redone and really does look wonderful but £7.95 for a prawn sandwich?!?- A small handful of rocket and A cherry tomato cut in half as an apparent side salad garnish. At the end of the day a sandwich is a sandwich. I met my Mum there for lunch, so two coffees and two sandwich's = £22.

A real shame that a really friendly nice place has been ruined. A nice café which was easily accessible now has to be entered via all the over priced shop areas and to top it all now are CARD PAYMENT ONLY. Ok for card using younger generation however many people still use real money. However won't be using or recommending to friends or family. A totally unprofessional set up .

I went with my mother and Father to Planters today for lunch. The food was lovely, fresh and locally sourced. We were impressed to see where all the food came from at the back of the menu. The service was warm and friendly and the atmosphere relaxed.

Went with my husband last week for afternoon tea. Talk about value for money. It was really good. Freshly made sandwiches and scones and the cake was divine. There's a furniture/antique shop attached as well as a great food/deli (10 rump steaks £20)! Together with a garden centre. This place is well worth a visit

I visited planters again today as I had been for my first experience last week and had such a lovely meal in the cafe. As I walked through the shop this time I noticed there were members of staff chatting sitting behind the counter. They were so engrossed in their conversation that they didn't even welcome me. Even upon noticing me. I was unimpressed to say the least and surprised as the welcome I got in the cafe last week from a lovely young girl was much better than this reception!! I wanted some help choosing some gifts from the shop however I changed my mind and decided to go for a coffee instead. Unfortunatly the girl I spoke to last week was absent but the other staff were just as nice. Thank god they didn't ruin my trip to planters. Will be diverting straight to the cafe next time!

Found this great place on the way to Hastings on the A21. A garden centre/gifts / food hall and cafe/restaurant. Intention was to have a coffee but turned into breakfast. Great coffee and the menu was varied. From a full breakfast and veggie option to scrambled egg and smoked salmon and poached egg with avocado with granary toast. We plumped for the scrambled egg/salmon and poached egg with avocado - yes there was a wait but it was a fabulous meal. Will visit again when we go back down and sit in the very comfy settees. Visit the food hall as it has a great selection of breads/meat and chilled food.

Afternoon tea here was a delight to the eyes as the portions were so huge. The cakes were amazing and they gave us gigantic portions. The scones were delicious. The sandwiches were not tiny little finger ones, but thick slices, and tasted gorgeous. If only we lived nearer, I would go again and again. Don't be put off by the place being on the main road, it is delightful inside.

My friend and I had afternoon tea here today with a groupon voucher, the sandwiches were ok just plain ham, cheese and egg, we had a choice of scone which was warm with jam and cream, we chose lemon drizzle and carrot cake also which were tasty, to be honest for £9.95 there’s not much to complain about!

We use cooden beach regularly as we like the venue but it is very over priced for both food and service and very hit and miss sometimes good sometimes poor usually when you take friends there .We had two large glasses of nice house wine (8.50per glass) we then had an egg mayo sandwhich shared it came with a small salad and that was it for 8.50 used to have coleslaw but no more,no problem as we ordered off the menu and knew what the price was however it stated bar service only but then put a service charge on when queried said had to stand as the food comes from the kitchen ,I think it is a shame as this is a nice venue but is very hit and miss and should not be for the high end price
