Pizza Hut Chelmsford Town Centre in Chelmsford

Have never written a review before, but felt the urge to on this occasion. Ordered food from Pizza Hut in Chelmsford who were more than happy to take our money, however after saying it would take between 80-90 minutes for delivery and waiting for 2 hours, they informed us that food was still not even being cooked and could not give any ETA. We cancelled the order - although still received an email saying ‘hoped you enjoyed your meal’. We were given a customer services number to phone to try and get a refund. When dialling the number you listen to an automated message and are directed to the Pizza Hut website where the only method of contact is via email which can take up to 10 days to even get a response. I am not sure if somehow we are being scammed by Pizza Hut during these turbulent times, but behaviour like this needs be flagged to the general public.

The staff were polite and efficient, the tables clean and tidy. My partner's pizza was satisfactory but my main salad wasn't the usual crisp and fresh fare we have come to expect. Rather disappointed.

Ordered a lunchtime pizza. It came with plenty of toppings.. but little or no cheese on some parts. The lady who served me has clearly never been trained. AVOID.

Had to wait to be seated due to them having no cutlery or crockery available. Several tables were not cleared. We had the buffet

I was ordered online and I choose to pick up the order. I didn't receive my toppings , my normal pepsi , i receive the max one (i paid 50 p for the normal one ) , i didn't get any bag , i ve leaved the store with all the products in the hand (7 products ) . I don t recomand this restaurant. For this prices and how many customers they have .. is really embarrassing .

Buffet at lunch time . No pizza !!!! Waste of money. 2 pizzas put out at a time gone in 1 minute.... Empty salad ....

So me and my friend go every Monday to get the lunch time buffet to takeaway as we work close by and do not have enough time to sit in the restaurant. Usually the staff are very friendly, but for some reason the manager had a problem with us because THEY had run out of small pizza boxes, admittedly last Monday they had also but it wasn’t an issue the waitress just laughed and said “it’s your lucky day there’s no small boxes” so we both had a medium sized box for our pizza, however this manager went to get a small salad box to put our pizza in but then changed his mind and told the waitress to only give us one box to share, we then mentioned the previous week and he sighed and said to the waitress “well we’re going to have to give it to them aren’t we?” Then continued to glare at us as we picked out pizza/salad This made us both feel very uncomfortable and anxious, we felt like we had done something wrong when in reality it’s their fault they still haven’t got more boxes since last week. To be honest I don’t see his problem it’s a buffet for god sake why offer the deal of you don’t want people to take it? I think it’s safe to say me and my friend will not be returning to Pizza Hut for our Monday lunch brake but will instead go to motto pizza where the staff don’t make you feel self-conscious and are friendly with a better variety of pizza, there were no vegetarian pizza options available at Pizza Hut so may as well just got salad.

So me and my friend get the buffet to take away every Monday for lunch, they tried to make us share a pizza box because they didn’t have little boxes?? It’s a buffet?? So we said we always get a box each every week. The manager sighed and gave us another box as if it was such a big deal. Then as we got our food the manager and a waitress just watched us, we both felt really anxious and self conscious.. won’t be coming back.

We popped in for the buffet lunch on a weekday to find it very quiet with only two other tables occupied, though a few more people did arrive after we did. There was only a skeleton staff on. The buffet was just as you'd expect, with plenty of pizzas and fresh looking salad. For some reason we were almost forced to choose the unlimited drinks rather than single drinks. We had a pram so it was difficult to find a suitable space to put it as the tables are all quite close together. Thankfully as it was so quiet we weren't blocking anyone else's table. We're very unlikely to be back as lunch at Moto pizza nearby is much better for a similar price.

Very good pizza 🍕 and salad 🥗 Clean, quick service. Waitress friendly and efficient. Will visit again soon.

Met my son and grandson in town for an afternoon. We fancied a pizza, Pizza Hut was near. we went in and it was half empty and even though the young girls waiting the tables did a good job the food was very average and I will not be returning.

Excellent service by the manager on a Sunday afternoon servicing seven 6 year old girls (her name escapes me!) which can’t have beeb easy. Went the extra mile to make a fuss and was super friendly. Really good service and a very happy experience. Thank you

Pizza Ok, although frozen one for only £2 from a supermarket tasted nicer! There was a group of 16 of us booked in advance. Some people ordered the Xmas set menu and tried to order a dessert at the start, waitress said we couldn't order desserts then but could later. Starters and mains came out. Waitress didn't come over at any time to check food was ok. We went over to her to enquire about desserts at 8:30 only an hour after we arrived and they told us we could not order any as they shut in 30 minutes at 9pm which is very early for a 'city' restaurant. The waitress should have told us this when she served our pizzas! Also they did not tell us they had taken the nozzle off of the drinks machine so when people went to get their free refills it sprayed everywhere. There was only one other couple in there, which is unsuprsing as the waitress and manager make you feel quite unwelcome and rushed as if they just want to go home. Not the best birthday meal we had hoped for. Don't think we will be rushing back anytime soon

More like a shed no cutlery wife got some I just got a fork had none washed buffet empty said they had problems with oven drinks dispenser not working at time more like faulty towers thank God for burger king

Visited for pizza with my daughter. I had a flatbread one with mushroom and garlic which was pleasant. I enjoyed the free salad that came with this too and the salad bar appeared to be kept very well.

Came here with my son after a day out. We entered the restaurant to which there was only 3 other people in there. Whereas your normally greeted at the door we weren’t and had to walk up to the till and also get the chef to acknowledge us as he seemed the only one there. Then the waitress appeared after about ten minutes by which point we were about to leave as didn’t have a clue what was going on.

Where do I start with this one I have always loved a good old pizza hut buffet since a kid I've visited many different pizza hut restaurants for at least 15 years and always enjoyed my lunch. To start the layout of the restaurant is shocking especially for someone who may be using a wheelchair (as per my picture) as you can see from my seat if somebody was to squeeze through then I would probably have my face in my pizza/pasta, the waiter then decided to give us the bill even though my friend was planning on ordering more drinks and some ice cream, there was no cold pasta in the salad bar and there was quite a wait on the pizzas to come out (I understand it's busier than normal due to school holidays) overall not a great experience and to top it off unlimited ice cream in a bowl where u will be lucky to put one scoop of ice cream.

Ye it's not to bad usual what you expect from this chain but I will say the customer service has got a lot better since I was here last

We waren met een groep van 8 personen en dan is het altijd lastig hoeveel pizza’s je moet bestellen. Het advies van de ober was 3 ‘share’-pizza’s en dat was een perfect advies. De pizza’s waren in 8 stukken voorgesneden, dus een ieder had drie pizzapunten en dat was meer dan genoeg. De bediening was erg vlot en correct. Een absolute aanrader.

Staff are always very friendly and welcoming and we were especially happy with our waiter Sebastian today. Rewarded his work with a small tip which he seemed very grateful for.

as per usual in a pizza hut it was shambolic but cant argue with 7 quid for all you can eat pizza/salads

We had the great big sharer deal (2 sides or starters, a pizza to share and either a sharing cookie dough or 2 desserts) for £27.95. Salad was fresh, pizza was hot and plenty of it for two of us. Service was good.

Restaurant busy but thankfully we were seated straight away & given menus. Waited an age for someone to take our drinks order, by which time we were within seconds of giving up and walking out. The noise from upstairs (presumably where parties are held) was horrendous. Main doors chaotic and obstructed with buggies and people waiting to be seated. There would be serious problems for customers exiting in case of an emergency. Food was good but service and ambience a huge let down.

I visited here with my 9 year old sister for lunch one Saturday when we were out shopping. We were fortunately able to be seated straight away, but it took a while for anyone to come and take our order. Once ordered we went and got our drinks and salad bars, which were great. Our pizzas didn’t take too long to arrive and were both absolutely delicious. However, when we were finished it took a long time for anyone to bring the bill over- we spent about 15 minutes desperately trying to catch someone’s eye! But despite this I will definitely be returning. It’s reminded me why I used to love Pizza Hut!

First meal in a Pizza hut for a long time. Had the buffet lunch in Chelmsford and was a little disappointed. We got a table and asked if we wanted the buffet and said help your self. First there was nothing there so we waited. When it came out it was ok but not as good as it was before. We started eating are first plate then we got the bill and thought do they want us to go. We got charged for a refill drink we did not want we only wanted one. The Pizza was good so was the salad but the service was not. I will go back soon and hopefully it will be better

Had the lunch buffet today with my husband. Everything from the service to the food was fantastic. Extremely friendly staff, amazingly yummy food.

Saw the well know sign outside, wanted a reasonably cheap but appetizing meal so the wife and I opted for this eatery.

We phoned the day before to make sure they were open in the evening and they said they were open until 7pm. We arrived at 5pm to be told that they had hardly any customers so she sent the staff home and were closing!! First time I've heard of a restaurant doing flexi-time!!!

Not a lot you can say really, it's a Pizza Hut and we know what to expect when it comes to the food. It's cheap enough to feed the family and the portion size is always good value for money (most of the time you end up requesting a box to take some home) The staff are very friendly and helpfully at the Chelmsford branch and the kids enjoy it...

Have not been here for a long due to very poor service, went today as a party of five what a change. Food was spot on and service was very very good. All the staff were polite and friendly and I mean all of them during our time there we spoke with five or six members of staff and I can say without exception they were all smartly dressed and professional and a credit to the management, I will not hesitate to go back now well done.

It's a pizza hut...i have nothing else interesting to say since there was average service and average food

Visited with family, went early and it was quite busy being a Saturday. Very pleasant staff, good service and the food was good quality. Children's menu was excellent. My only criticism would be that the restaurant really was very cold. Other than that a very nice meal thanks and great value.

If you fancy a good pizza then make your way down the High Street & under the main road & you will find Pizza Hut just up Moulsham Street. They sell a good variety of Pizzas as well as other goodies. The staff there are very friendly & the pizzas are very reasonably priced.

I came here recently for the buffet which was all fine. The food was of a good standard, all hot and replenished frequently. However I found the waitress to be extremely rude. At the end of the meal I put down the money to pay for the meal and she swooped over and picked it up. I waited a long time for my change to be returned and it wasn't. She then came over and said 'are you actually waiting for your change' in a rude manner, to which I replied yes. I continued to wait in a near empty restaurant for another 10 minutes and actually saw what looked to be her supervisor sort our change out, and she just put it in her pocket. I had to grab her attention and ask politely for my change, to which she replied 'oh, I thought it was my tip'. First of all she wasn't even the lady who seated us. Secondly, it was the buffet, we self served all our drinks and food so I would usually only tip if the service was good in this circumstance (which of course it was appalling). I felt so angered at how rude this lady was. She eventually grabbed the change out of her pocket and put it on the table and walked away. She's clearly in the wrong job because she had no concept of customer service at all. I would return for the food but would absolutely refuse to sit in her section again.

Got seated quickly and food was fresh. No problems and would deffo come back again if I wanted a quick simple lunch

Visited this Pizza Hut last night for dinner before the cinema! For two individual pizzas and two soft drink and a side of cheese balls our meal came to £30.00 which for what you receive is in my opinion too much money. The air con was on full blast and it was 8pm therefore not warm outside or inside so it was then too cold inside.

I and my young daughter are wheat dairy and gluten intolerant.We are able to eat in pizza hut and cannot state how good and considerate the staff are nothing is to much problem We eat there a couple of times a month and I would like to thank the management and team for their consideration keep up the good work.

The location is good and you would have thought being a chain it would have been better presented. We took a takeaway therefore are not able to comment on the table service of the staff, What I did observe was the staff were less than helpful and there did not seem to be a dedicated person wanting to take a takeaway order.

Buffet good value and a treat for tea children during school holidays. Busy so dont leave it too late to eat.

As we arrived for lunch on the 8/3/16 we we're first greeted by a waitress who was kind and showed us to a table, the gave us menus and said to let her know when we wanted to order. We decided on the Buffett and went to go and get our food. Once we had sat back down a waiter came over and asked if we wanted any drinks or any sides we asked for water and where told to get it ourselves from the machine when other tables around us had gotten waitress service for their drinks. He then came back with the bill even though we had only been there for ten minutes! We felt that we where being pushed out of the restaurant! As a waitress I can understand that if you have lots of bookings you want to keep the tables available and clean but for a Tuesday lunch it was less than busy and the way we were approached by the waiter was not the way that I would have expected as a fellow waitress and it defiantly will not earn him any tips!

Poor service tasteless salad but Pizza ok. Staff without a clue had to eat my pizza in my hand as I got tired of waiting for the staff to bring me a plate. Not overly cheap and very noisy. Don't bother, get a sandwich instead.

If you fancy a good pizza & you are in Chelmsford then make your way to the bottom of Moulsham Street where you will find this pizza outlet.The staff there are very friendly & as well as a good selection of pizzas to choose from they can also provide you with nice starters & sides, salads, pasta, deserts & drinks, all at a very reasonable price.

Had the lunch buffet very good value for money. If u looking for good value and nice food good place to visit.

Came here with a friend for dinner, we were served very quickly and the food was very very nice! Staff were helpful and provided us with a box to take away the leftover pizza in. All in all had a lovely meal and would honestly recommend this place to anyone! Great value for money too!

Went here on a Saturday night. It wasn't crowded and there was a bit of noise so we were a bit hesitant.We were given our seats , orders taken and relaxed in a nice atmosphere. Salad was ace, had two bowls, shared pizza, too large to each even between the two of us and we had some to take home. Tasty pizza.Staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble.Good value.

I was invited to visit this restaurant after a bad experience at the chelmer village branch - which we visit weekly. I must say I was very impressed. The staff were much friendlier and although the restaurant is smaller, and busier, they coped more effectively with a completely full house than the other Pizza Hut do when only 1/4 of the restaurant is full. The food at the buffet had good selection and I saw staff re filling the station numerous times while I was there. I only wish they had a larger premises so things weren't quite so cramped. We also struggled to catch someone's attention to ask for the bill. As a restaurant in town I think it's important to consider that people are often paying extortionate amounts to park in the car park, and therefore want a quick visit then to get on with their day, and therefore having taken half an hour to catch someone's attention and ask for the bill was a bit of an inconvenience.

I went to Pizza Hut in Moulsham Street yesterday (23rd October 2015) at around lunchtime. Only one lady was serving, and the service was very very slow, but we decided to get the buffet. I tried a slice of the five pizzas available from the buffet, and all of them were disgusting. All of the pizza doughs were very undercooked and tasted raw, the tomato sauce was raw and cold, and the cheese was covered all over the pizza, which tasted like plastic. Rip off for what the food was worth. Will never return there and don't recommend at all.

We have our grandchildren here several times. They love the food and being able to select their own choices. The food is good, hot and presented well. It is a delightful family meal and the staff are helpful and friendly.

Not to be recommended. Staff take ages to serve and they really don't seem to care. No parking Good prices and menu range but very average cheap and cheerful stale tasting food. One feels depressed entering. Not good. Sorry.

Great value ! Interesting specials and tasty food. My grand daughter loves our casual meals there and loves doing her own buffets.

Went for dinner on my daughter's birthday. We wanted a quiet dinner as we were going to have a party next day anyway. Staff found out and came along to wish her. They gave her ice cream free and brought along a cake (dessert from their menu) with a candle and a sparkler. Other guests joined in and sang happy birthday to her. It was an amazing experience. Our good experience became excellent

My wife and i eat out in Chelmsford fairly regularly. Pizza Hut does not offer the best food. But it offers the best and most consistent service anywhere. When i mean anywhere i include in London where we have both lived and worked for over 10 years and places we have traveled with work. We must have eaten in this Pizza Hut 20+ times over 5 years and the service has always been 100% top notch. The food is always warm and what we ordered and tastes that much better delivered with a smile. Whatever they do to train the staff it works!

We stopped here for the all-you-can-eat lunch. The problem is that when the place is not very busy the pizzas content to sit under the heat lamps so you almost have to watch the counter for when they put out a fresh pizza in order to get something tasty. The salads okay but they could have done with cleaning up a little as there was sauce all over the place. Waiting staff very lacklustre and wouldn't go back

My wife and I were the first lunchtime customers and were surprised to find customers who arrived after us were served first and their meals arrived well before us.The food was no better than average.We had a shock when we had our bill - the food was overpriced and we were disgusted when we looked at itemised bill. We were charged £2.40 for a small Coke and, wait for it, £6.55 for a large bottle of Peroni Beer.We will not return and instead try out one of the many restaurants in this area.We ware sure we better value for money elsewhere.

Tried to have lunch here on Saturday with my wife.Walked inside at 14:15 hours place was busy but only about half full, a male waiter who was standing near the door turned his back on us and waked out of view, then a female waitress came towards us handed a table there bill then did the same to us by turning around and walking out of sight.At this point i told my wife we were not staying after being insulted by not one but two embers of staff. Will i try again, not this Pizza Hut for a very long time, be warned.

Came here for a Buffet Lunch which was a little quiet.The staff were friendly and did their duty well. The Pizza was particularly great at this branch, simply because of the chef here. I feel the dough isn't too dry and very moist, which makes this branch one of my favourite to visit for a Pizza.

Decent service with the standard servings of food you expect in the hut. Place was clean and tidy with attentive staff.
