Had a delivery, got it wrong.. it happens I guess send me wings instead of cheese sticks, they did however send out the right part of my order in good time but it had hardly any cheese on it. Like they're cutting costs. I've eaten many papa John's from many places and this was basically garlic bread with a basic sprinkle of cheese. When I phoned to question this the guy laughed at me. And told me that I was making it up. Then started to patronise me. He got rude and acted like it was my problem. Disgusting. Patronising and awful service and clearly cutting costs by skimping on toppings. Never ordering again because clearly the franchise owners care more about cutting costs and being rude to customers than actually doing a good job. What a joke of a reputation they must be making.

Awful Papa Johns. Waited over an hour this evening for my pizza to be delivered, without any reason for why. My husband phoned up to see what the situation was, only to be told they had no idea where our pizzas were. They eventually were delivered by the delivery driver (who refused to come up to our flat to deliver these). The pizzas themselves that were delivered were completely inedible - they were burnt to an absolute crisp and tasteless.

Top quality pizzas. Up there with the best of em. Fresh ingredients, crisp base and best delivery service. 👍. Still just as good. Update, still great.

This place is awesome. So, so much better than the mainstream pizza places.

Poor information on delivery on the website. You can't call the drivers or the restaurant when ordering. But at least my order arrived and the lady was really nice.

This is a good Papa John's in terms of the actual Pizza. Never have an issue with that. BUT Delivery is terrible. Sure, it arrives eventually but they mark it as delivered soon as the delivery person drops off the first pizza. Then we've waited anything from 20mins to over an hour. Strangely though if you phone up to see what's going on it always arrives 5 minutes later. I'm presuming they are cheating an Average delivery time metric/KPI somewhere. So my advice, soon as it says delivered, if it's not in your hand phone them immediately and you'll get it quicker.

The best part of this order was the garlic butter dip and buffalo wings. Ordered all the meats pizza, but seriously where was the meat. Very disappointed should have stuck with GO GO'S

We order from Papa John's every month or so, and have done for years as they have the best base and taste. Always great service and quick delivery from this particular store. I had phone up to modify the order recently as the official website does not allow you to mix real cheese and vegan cheese together (understandably!). Khela went above and beyond to make the odd request happen. Best pizza place in town without a doubt :)

Have made the mistake of buying from them a few times. Each time, they've failed to deliver all of the items we've paid for. If you call them, they do nothing to remedy it. Once is a mistake but repeated patterns make it seem like intentional theft.

Enjoyed by the whole family. The gluten free options are limited, but the base is different and better than most others.

Abysmal service from these jokers. Save your money go elsewhere, waited over an hr for pizza to be delivered, finally arrived poor quality and cold, phoned the shop and was put on hold with no answer, rang back but phone was left off hook so no answer.

Business failed to answer the phone on multiple occasions. Decided to go down and order directly. The food was great and so was the service. Convenience of answering the phone would have been a 5 star but overall no complaints on the food or face to face service

I tried calling papa johns to make and order. I called 5 times no order. so I called pizza hut they answered almost immediately. papa John you lost a customer today

So the pizza is great for the money. Always get a good deal. 100x better than Domino’s. But as others have said “they have trouble getting the pizza delivered on time”. Ours Was over an hour from phone call to home delivery for 2 pizzas on a Saturday afternoon. THE PIZZA IS ALWAYS DELIVERED HOT

This store routinely marks online orders as delivered before they are actually delivered. from my last 7 orders 6 were marked as delivered before they arrived . sometimes by 5 minutes , sometimes longer. Today my pizza was marked as delivered 26 minutes before it actually arrived. I phoned the store and asked "why do you mark it as deliverd before you deliver it "and the reply is " the store clocks it as delivered" i asked again why mark it as delivered before you deliver it and he repeats the same answer. not really answering my question. I asked "why" not who ? Anyway i asked ther delivery guy "how long it has been in his delivery bag as if it was despatched 30 minutes ago its very likely to be cold " to give him credit he was very congenial and answered politely assuring me it wasnt in this bag for 30 minutes. If the store manager reads this review all i can say is stop lieing to your customers by faking delivery times . i guess you have targets to meet but really all you are doing is making your customers really angry with being lied to repeatedly. which is a real shame as the food is usually of good quality , But im going elsewhere with my next few orders because i dont appreciate being lied to .

Waited over an hour for this pizza. The tracking app had it down as delivered 20 minutes before it actually arrived. Tried calling the restaurant over 20 times and just rang on, no answer. When the pizza arrived it was lukewarm and soggy. Not even an apology from the delivery driver. I had had a similar experience last time I went, will not be giving this place a third chance. Terrible service, one lost customer.

I have attempted to order from the Chelmsford branch multiple times over the last few weeks and every single time they have shut earlier than advertised, seemingly while I’m putting my order together, so when I get to payment I’m alerted that the store is closed. One of these times was 6:30pm!! It’s incredibly infuriating going to the effort of selecting what you want and then having to choose a different take out option after you’ve already decided. Please sort it out, we both enjoy the papa johns pizzas and sides but are close to giving up with you since we can never actually order from you anyway

Ordered 2 pizzas at 7.30pm last night, got email confirmation saying order accepted, money taken from bank, 10pm receive email saying sorry pizza is late offering only £5 off next order, pizza never actually turned up and they had phone off hook all night so couldn't call them. Never using again out of principal. Will be going in there today in person.

If I could give 0 stars I would. After 2 hours and 15 minutes and still waiting, and the store's phone being constantly engaged (and I tried ringing it 60 times) we cancelled payment. So mad, was looking forward to a treat, will never order from Chelmsford Papa John's again.

Ordered at 4 for 8.45 delivery, plenty of notice as had group of sons friends over for football. Delivery after 10! Can't get through to store either. Terrible service, never again!

Been waiting for almost 2 hours now for my order. called the store over 100 times only for calls to either not go through or (on the rare occasion my call has gone through) not have anyone answer. Hungry and disappointed. Absolutely abysmal.

I would have rated 0 stars .. terrible service I waited 90 minutes no pizza came so I drove down there and my pizza wasn't even made yet!! I waited on site for 25 mins and had to drive my own pizza home.. NEVER USE THEM THERE RAW

WILL NEVER USE AGAIN! Ordered in advance and came 1hr 10 mins later than its scheduled arrival time. I had to call 3 times to chase and got the run around. I eventually got a refund and the food arrived 15mins after that. Not happy.

I am happy they have excellent tasting vegan pizzas but I was worried if it had dairy contamination or some other non vegan contamination in it due to gastroentritis after consuming them on two separate ocassions due to which I have stopped ordering, perhaps it is a contamination from nearby kept non vegan germ filled products that your team serves to others. Pleases top trading in murdered remains and secretions of innocent abused animals and go completely vegan so that we can have your excellent vegan products without worry and without the cruelty of meat and dairy.

Terrible customer service. Phoned to complain about my pizza to be told there was nothing they could do, as it was 30 minutes after the order had been delivered. Then I was hung up on. I will never be ordering from here again.

It is a good location. Car park is at its back. Good staff and good quality of food.

I ordered 2 * Hawaiian pizza but got something else, they didn't take any responsibility and no form of empathy but the lady was shouting and talking rudely that I should have called within 30 mins of receiving the order. They have very terrible customer service here and pray you don't have to call them for any issues, you will be at fault no matter the reason. My last time of buying pizza from this place, clearly they all need to go on a full customer service training course.

Used to like Papa Johns, especially as they have a wide vegan range but recently we have had one problem after another with the Chelmsford franchise. In the last one, they sent our order to another person. There is a tracker which tells you that the pizza has been delivered. We rang them and they said the tracker was malfunctioning. 15 minutes later we received a delivery but it was the wrong pizza. We rang them and the person that answered said that they had the other customer on the phone too and there had been a mix-up. They claimed that the one we received was also vegan but it clearly had ham on it. The representative said that they had to apply to head office for a refund but no such refund has been received. The previous week they promised a refund for a problem side order. Again no refund received. Not only do they seem comfortable telling lies. They are comfortable with messing up, telling us that it happens frequently when they are busy. Nobody does any quality checks.

Treat for an anniversary of my friend. Pizza was the craving, thought of trying Papa John's pizza for the first time. Got a deal of Family Feast 2 medium, 2 sides and a drink £22.99. Wow...amazing offer..Next surprise awaiting...there is half & half offer too so ordered 4 choices in 2 medium sized pizza (half each). Sides were Hot buffalo wings and Chessy Tofu bacon with Pepsi. Made my day😊. But during online transaction process the payment went out twice due to technical issues. Realized it after 2 days when the bank statement came. Informed the store. Hope to get back the extra money paid🤞. Thanks for the patience of the person at the store who was on call and gave me proper advise. Keep up the standard and good work🥰 Merry Christmas 🎄

Sent a meat pizza last night instead of the vegan pizza we ordered. Second time in as many weeks we had been sent the wrong order. Shift manager didn't apologise but told us that they send pizzas to wrong client 6-8 times a night on weekend night. We love the brand and the taste but this was the last time we will buy here. The place is dangerous. They told me last night I have bought 24 pizzas in the last 5 years. At least a third of these they have got our order wrong (so that 6-8 errors per night is an untruthful underestimate). Obviously we have to prepay for takeaways, but every time we have a really big issue they argue about partial refunds for weeks. Papa John's hides behind the franchise structure as to why they do this. No one ever takes responsibility. The full refund we have demanded after last night will be no different. For those who want what they ordered and have paid for, those with religious, or dietary requirements (like us), or those with allergies this outlet is not safe.

In the Rain, placed the pizza on a doormat where people wipe their feet. Appalling .. at least put something underneath the pizza. So unhygienic.

Their Pizza service is not great. I called up the chelmsford branch and requested the caller to give out his name but he wouldnt. I want to complain about the cold pizza but he refused to give me his name. Also they always deliver cold food. Please stay away.Rubbish service and food.

Placed the order online with ease. From the time of order to actually getting the pizza’s which were cold was 1 hour 40. Shame as they are usually good and the pizza’s are tasty.

Would be a zero if I could. Covid 19 or not, I ordered a meal this evening after 2 weeks of going crazy working at home. Delivery was needed and can fully understand the scenario. Website warned order could take 90minutes. 2hrs+ still No delivery. Disgusting. Can’t get hold of the store to get an update. Tried to call over 200 times. Will never order from here again.

Ordered for delivery at about 19:15 tonight, received confirmation that my order would be with me at 20:30 (the time slot I selected). It’s now 22:20 and has only just been delivered. It was stone cold and hard. I was trying to ring the store for about an hour but couldn’t get through at all which left me no way to cancel the order. I’ll be demanding a full refund. I would be more understanding if they had called to say it would be late or something but I received no call or anything. I’ve never had Papa’s before but thought I would try it but after tonight I’ll never go near them again and will be telling friends and family to stay clear too. Absolute garbage service.

Pizza taste like cardboard and it took an hour to get to me!

It's unfortunate that my first review on google is a negative one, but have been moved to write this due to a very bad experience. It's also a shame I had to add 1 star to post this, probably would've been higher if I'd actually eaten the pizza and the customer service had been inoffensive, sadly neither are the case here. Last Friday night, just gone 20:00, I placed an order over the phone that consisted of one pizza, which I was told would take 30-35 minutes. It got to 20:50 and still no pizza, so I called and the same young man who took the order told me that it would be another 15 minutes! When I questioned this, his excuse was they had "Got very busy", which was also said in a fairly unapologetic manner. There was then 10 seconds of silence between us on the phone, so I hung up. The pizza arrived at 21:15 (Nearly an hour and a quarter after the order was placed) I refused to pay so the delivery driver phoned the shop and then passed it over to me. It was the same person I'd spoken to twice previously, who then offered to knock £4 off (when the order was already at £17.99, £13.99 would still be too much to pay for this less than adequate service) I then tried to lower it to 50%, which he said they couldn't do so I refused to take in the order, this didn't bother him in the slightest. You appreciate that wherever you go that there will sometimes be delays but as I said before, I only ordered one pizza, so the fact they got busier after my order should really have had no impact on the speed of them sorting it out, and to be met by such an apathetic and disinterested employee just adds insult to injury. Special mention to the delivery driver, who was very apologetic and I could tell without him saying anything that he understood the injustice of the situation; nevertheless he was clearly very loyal to the business, a loyalty which I feel is misplaced.

I have ordered from this company from many years and never had a problem tonight we had a problem with the online ordering system I called to ask when my pizza was being delivered to be told that I was meant to be collecting it when I asked if they could deliver a new pizza to me as my pizza would have of been sitting there for the last 40 minutes, they said no they will reheat that pizza when I asked why they didn’t call me to let me know that the pizza was ready they said they can’t call everyone that has a collection (I then asked how many have collections and they said three people). Really disappointed in the way that I’ve dealt with this and with that in mind I won’t be ordering any pizzas from them in the future such a shame

We ordered online and our pizzas were with us within 45 mins and were piping hot! We had a tandoori chicken and a half and half with American hot and pepperoni and they were amazing! The delivery driver was polite and we gave him a tip. I feel sorry for them if they have to put up with the likes of some of the people that have given bad reviews about them! Will definately be ordering from here again!

prepaid order via website. upon answering doorbell driver shoved his sack in my face without any explanation. clearly expecting me to reach into his sack to retrieve items (in complete darkness). when i inquired if he could pass me the pizzas by hand he stated "that is not my job" and proceeded to laugh at me when i said this was not acceptable. unwilling to compromise at all and left with food undelivered, still laughing at me.

What a joke. I ordered a pizza for delivery online and they didn't deliver the pizza to me. Nor did they inform me why they didn't contact me to let me know they wouldn't deliver. I only realised that it wouldn't be delivered 1 hour after I ordered the pizza at which point the store was closed. Nothing was done about to resolve the problem when ringing the store or dealing with their customer support the next day neither. Shame I can't give them less that one star :(

Best pizza in city good for university students cheap and tasty

Delivery less than 3 miles away hadn't arrived 1hr and 10mins after on line order/payment. Phoned shop many times to check but no answer. Had to get in car and drive to shop to see what was happening, when i got there I was told there was no time limit on orders - you just have to wait. We and the 3 friends of my son who were waiting for their pizza's will never order from Papa John's again - too many other pizza shops with better delivery targets and customer service. Very disappointed.

Having ordered from Papa Johns for many years I was extremely disappointed. I am not one prone to complain but my pizza was, at best, tepid. It was not hot. I phoned the store but was made to feel like the villain of the piece. There wasn’t even an apology, just a refusal to accept that the food wasn’t as hot as it should have been. I said that I’d stick it in the microwave, which apparently was agreeable. I will never order from Papa Johns again. Customer service was dreadful. I hope they go under with this sort of treatment. Better Ingredients Better Pizza indeed, the delivery today took about 23min but taking that the pizza takes 15-20min to cook and the traffic was a bit rough at the time of delivery it's fair time to deliver, and the pizza was worth the wait. Also he followed our delivery instructions "Say: PAPA IS IN THE HOUSE when you get here" very well, great, and I repeat, great delivery service good job papa's boys. Plus Respekt

I have just received disgusting service from papa johns in Chelmsford. With the rewards I've collected having spent a substantial amount of money on deliveries, I have accumulated a free pizza. The minimum order for a delivery is £13.99, therefore they would not deliver the pizza to me. If that's not poor enough service, the manager (Fongh) 's attitude towards me was also disgusting. Comments like 'go ahead and complain' and 'do what you want' like he had absolutely no respect for me as a customer. Also his tone was condescending and he spoke over me continuously. I know I became angry which I should not have done, but other companies/restaurants have always had more respect than that, even if the can't help me. I was left feeling like a piece of dirt that he'd just wiped off his shoe and that is not a way to deal with a customer

Customer service was awful. I always order papa johns from a different franchiser and trust it greatly so I thought I could feel the same about this place, but this was not the case. The pizza was average but worst of all was the cinnamon knots. Normally when I order them they are perfect but this time they appeared to have shrunk and there were only about 5 in the box. I called them as soon as I opened the box and the woman on the phone claimed that they always look like this but that was not the case and she refused to do anything about it, acting as if paying £5 for 5 tiny cinnamon knots was normal. She then hung up rudely. We called back and spoke to the manager, to which we were only given a voucher for free cinnamon knots that we were not even able to access. Avoid this shop at all costs, order from Braintree instead.

It's not the first time we've tried to get a pizza when we've been hungry and had a busy day. Word of advice, don't go to pap johns if your hungry. 1 hour 20 minutes. Nobody answered the phone at the branch. You can't email them. The delivery person doesn't care. We've learnt our lesson after two instances.

couldnt give any less than 1 star but would have if i could have. ordered pizza for delivery, missed a call from the delivery driver who decided not to leave a voicemail message. as a result they just cancelled the order. phoned the store to find out what was going on and was met with rude staff and even ruder so called managers. service was absolutely disgusting. wouldnt go here again if my life depended on it and definitely will be telling people to avoid this vile excuse of a papa johns. bringing a bad reputation to the papa johns brand name.

READ PLEASE. Firstly where do I begin? The rude disgusting manner of the staff swearing at me? The racism on the other end of the phone?(being a white christain) Or perhaps the pizza slice which clearly had teeth marks on the crust?(photo taken) This place when first opened was a beautiful pizza take out. Now a "family run" shop has gone clearly down hill. An utter disgrace. No refund was given only attitude and foul remarks towards my self wife and younger daughter.

Absolutely disgraceful customer service. They initially came across as pleasant individuals until they made a mistake with our order/ delivery, at which point they immediately adopted a nasty, condescending attitude(this includes their manager) and attempted to blame us for their error. After calling us from a mobile I heard someone in the background commenting about spitting in the food. I made the mistake of judging a book by its cover with this place, I think dominos is a far safer bet and we'll be recommending the same to all of our friends.
