Pizza Express in Ashford

Before I leave this review I must say our waitress was amazing, very very polite, attentive and with a sense of humour which was really lovely and my wife and I left a reasonable tip for the staff but the food? Hmmmm, very mediocre at best, much of it gave the impression the food was pre prepared packaged food and certainly not hand prepared, the last time I had food like this was at Frankie & Bennies and look what happened to them!

Been to visit a few times now and we, as a group must say Natty goes above and beyond as a member of the Pizza Express team. He is funny, polite and very attentive. He actually makes the dining experience. Absolute credit to your company. See you again soon.

Music & general noise way to loud, dining area way too small, to busy, not ideal if you suffer from sensory overload

Excellent service by Mondi which enhanced the visit to this restaurant. We will definitely come back to experience the delicious food and drinks but also Mondi’s welcome.

Amazing food and service. There is beautiful covered outside seating, which is perfect to watch the sunset.

Great family day out. Food does take awhile to come out but I guess it does get busy pretty quickly. Over all lovley experience.

Friendly front of house. Anything you don't finish you can take away with you. Food was cooked very well and looks great as shown.

Pizza spicy, excellent. Halloumi not very tasted, giuseppe salad nice. One of the waitress was laughing lot of time with one table beside us and was a bit disturbed. Perfect attention.

We had my daughter's 5th birthday party here, where the kids all made their own pizzas. They had such a great time, the food served before the pizzas came out was all well prepared and healthy. The kids all had a great time. Natty ran the party and was brilliant with the kids, would highly recommend to anyone. Thanks Natty!

Pathetic Service we had to wait for hours to get ordered, food again took 40mins to show up and the waitress weren’t polite enough to be served. One of the waiter just smacked starter on the table and walked away didn’t even had a courtesy to ask if we needed anything extra. Very rude behaviour and I noticed it kept happening to few there. Then they charged 1.5% to service charge. Why do I pay to the service which made me spent starving for one and half hour over which the impolite and unprofessional service provider?? Never bothered to visit again..

Service and Food was good! We went in quite late and they accommodated us with no problem! Service was lovely and helpful too. Food was very tasty! Had the summer calzone super yummy!

Hard to get waiters/waitresses attention. They and turn away.

Although the food took quite a while to arrive to our tables, it was very good. The staff/waiters were also very friendly and warming which allowed you to speak to them without a fright. However, when the days are busier, it might take a little longer to get everything done but it still works. The pizza was made deliciously fresh and the garlic and herb dips were very flavourful. For the price, it is very worth it.

Finished a day shopping for school clothes with kids eat for free deal. We ordered a full paying meal for my eldest as the free childrens meal were not enough for him. He had a standard pizza, I had a small salad, my youngest had the free kids meal, we had table water and two cokes. The food came to just shy of £50, which became over £50 once I had included a tip. This made the free kids meal lunch out not the cheap saver meal I had hoped it would be after spending on school essentials. The food was freshly made and tasty. The service was exceptional. It's a good call for a bite to eat to stop the children getting hungry. But for value for money and quality food I'd prefer to take them to one of the local country pubs for the kids meal and full menu options, which would come to around the same price.

I was there on Saturday. Although it was crowded but everything was fine. The manager was so kind and everything was under her control. Our waitress was Hannah and she was really great, kind and helpful. It was a good experience. I had Due Romania (sloppy giuseppe and double American cheese) which was great.

Apparently I have to make a reservation to eat, not sure how that quite works….

Visited here on Friday evening for dinner and didn’t receive the best service from Our waitress. Also asked about the kids eat free offer and she said it wasn’t running on this day but was the week before and running next week which made no sense. In hindsight should have queried this more as the website said it is running. She was very inattentive. My kids pasta was served to us very undercooked. My 2 year old spat out hard pieces of pasta. We then requested this to be recooked but tasted super tart. Ended up spending 2 hours there as eveything was taking very long which we were understanding of as it was busy but the service left a bitter taste

As good as it gets for a pizza place in a mall.

I enjoyed a lovely meal this evening. I was with my 5 year old grandson and the device was brilliant despite it being very busy. The waiter looking after us was friendly and made my grandson feel very grown up ! I would highly recommend this pizza express especially for families.

Excellent food and service as always

You would have thought that a chain this size would've been able to change a few things around , especially if you explain that you are intolerant to certain things. At first they were able to offer some calzone in place of the mozzarella and then changed it to a few shavings, how tight is that. Then he changed that again to couldn't offer it as it came ready mixed in another dish. So much for freshly made! Then offered as the only alternative the dreaded vegan cheese which, even the waiter thought, was really bad . So here we go, another dry pizza coming up. Get it together, if you're going to be an Italian pizzeria be a real pizzeria, be friendly, be willing to make slight alterations to help customers have a nice time. Not the place to go if you are "really" lactose intolerant.

We had such a lovely waitress and service. The food was lovely and overall really good experience.

Incredible service. Polite, and super considerate and patient. Went above and beyond to accommodate my intolerances; even adding a few extras to compensate for things I couldn’t have.

I waited 20 minutes and no one came to clean the table, I had to do it myself. No one came to take the order. I do not recommend

Great place for lunch with kids.

I normally like pizza express but this specific restaurant is awful. One occasion we went as a group to this restaurant to have a meal out. We then used our vouchers on our phones for the money off. This allows you to get free dishes. We then ate the food we ordered. Then we were told that the app didn’t work so we had to spend an extra £10 each for things we wouldn’t have ordered otherwise. We then had an occasion for a Birthday, we were a table of 8. I ordered a table water. The waiter then looked at me judging the fact I had only ordered a water with my pizza. Once finished our food, she proceeded to demand tips. This was the final straw for me with this pizza express.

Food mostly good, but Chicken Ceasar salad was a bit disappointing. Chicken was a bit rubbery - maybe is frozen cooked chicken? Service quite good, but waiter cleared plates etc from 2 of our diners before the 3rd had finished eating... bad etiquette in my book.

The wife likes pizza.. you can get one with a salad in the middle. Highly recommended as you can leave room for pudding. It was great being offered a range of different chillies to go on my pizza, 5 stars for that alone. The service was excellent, friendly, and warm smiles 👍. Parking is easy. There is an outside room for eating in the sun ☀️, or plenty of inside restaurant space.

Best pizza Express I've eaten in. Service was amazing, I asked for BBQ burnt ends of leggara and although not on the main menu the waitress asked the chefs and they did for me. Food tasted great too.

We took our class of Reception children here to make pizza this week. Each child made their own margarita pizza and learnt about the ingredients. Our teacher, Bill, was amazing with the children and the rest of the staff were friendly and attentive. So pleased with our trip and we’d definitely go again.

Has a lovely late lunch here Ordered 3 sides 2 pizzas 3 soft drinks 2 bottles of water 3 desserts with hot drinks Was able to use app to get some discounts which is always welcomed. Was served by a lovely knowledgeable waitress who was attentive in looking after our table. Will be sure to return on our next shopping trip to Ashford

Went here to celebrate my friends' birthday. The food and drinks were great but the service was some of the worst I experienced. Because of our financial situations, we don't typically go out to restaurants but because it was a special occasion, we decided to make an exception. After our meal was done, I asked the manager if we could remove the optional service charge, not because we weren't appreciative of the food we had but simply because we're broke uni students/minimum wage employees. The manager was very understanding and removed the service charge and sent a waitress to take our payment. Because we still wanted to leave a tip, we ended up rounding up our bill as a small token of appreciation. The waitress who was taking our payment was very rude to us about this and took it personally. She took turns critiquing and berating each of us for not paying the service charge (even though the manager said we didn't have to) and made an effort to guilt trip all of us despite explaining why we couldn't. Ontop of this, the same waitress also tried too hard to upsell items on the menu and insulted my friend for wanting tap water rather than ordering a drink. It's a real shame because what was originally meant to be a nice, quiet dinner ended up being extremely awkward and left all of us feeling uncomfortable. Genuinely has put me off from going here again.

1 hour wait for 4 pizzas? Don't take so many people if you can't serve.

I attended Pizza express in Ashford designer outlet on 10th April at 3pm and the service was terrible from the start. I saw people before me and after me being offered tables (without bookings) but when I asked for a table I was told one would be available 1.5 hours later. I had 4 kids with me btw. I nonetheless waited. around. I then went in 15 minutes earlier to see if I could get a table and the manager said no. He didnt even look around to see who was finishing up. I told him a table was rounding up and he said fine, he needs to clear it. Throughout our time there I saw him mingling and laughing with all the guests but never checked in on us. When I told him the kids had to wait over 25 mins for the mains following their starters but everyone else who came after us got theirs quickly, he just said "oh sorry about that" - nothing else. When people left he would say goodbye when he was at the door but when we left he didn't. The whole energy was off and whilst I hate to say this - we were the only black family in the restaurant. I never normally leave a bad review but being a lawyer I can pick up on the vibes and it seemed he already had a preconception about black people/families. The kids were crying due to being hungry and there was no urgency given that they are minors. When it came out it was piping hot and so added more to their time to eat. I normally attend PE Ashford and never encountered him before but I will never be going again. We spent nearly £100 to be treated really badly. Never again!

Lovely meal to celebrate our daughter’s 8th birthday. Food was reliable and tasty as always in Pizza Express. We were served by Izabela and she did everything to make our daughter’s evening, it was really lovely service and without asking a few of the team sang a little happy birthday and presented my daughter with a message on her plate. It really made her day as it was so unexpected and lovely. Overall This is a really good Pizza Express and well worth a stop if you are shopping at the Outlet, or like us, local to the area.

Amazing food as always service always spot on

The food and service were excellent, as always. I ordered the Romana La Reine once more. However, the entrance continues to present a challenge. It's narrow and cramped, with customers waiting both outside and inside to be seated. Additionally, waiters navigate through the crowd to serve those eating outside, leading to chaos at the entrance during peak times.

Just been there during Xmas and Easter break, food and the interior are good but staff is the thing that impressed me most, was served by Alison for the two visit and she is very attentive and cheerful, also very caring with our elderly and kid. Thx.

We love pizza express, especially this one. Our son can be quite difficult, the female dark haired manager who I’ve heard is leaving is miserable and rude, so we look forward to that. Thank god Alicia was there to make it all better, she’s charming, funny, kind and efficient. She was entertaining Rufus and the food, as per usual was delicious.

Good food, courteous staff, decor could have been better

Used to be lovely here. Really terrible service this year. They'll seat you and then leave you for an hour before taking your oder. That's if they remember that your there at all. Or if you're waiting to be seen in the entrance they are not interested at all in speaking to you.

Please can you pass on to the manager or preferably the area manager. The customer service we received from Natty at Ashford designer outlet was incredible. I've been served by him twice now and no matter how run off his feet he is he makes the most incredible efforts and suggestions. He is so patient for the fact we had 2 toddlers with us and was constantly engaging with them making our experience a whole lot better in comparison to other restaurants. He IS the reason we go back to that restaurant. His presence is just so welcoming and nothing is too much. I hope that as employers you recognise how incredible he really is. There have been so many places I've eaten at that would benefit from a "Natty" but they haven't got one, gutting enough for them. I would like to ensure that this is fedback to him also. Thank you x

Food is nice, but drinks overpriced over £15 for 4 coke zeros

The waitress didn't seem to happy when we were sat in an emptier part of the restaurant. Food arrived hot. Gluten free daugh balls were amazing. Brushetta was good Reasonably priced.

First time at Pizza Express. The ambience was great. Friendly staff. Meal didn't take time to come. Tasty meal, too. Different!

Food great, as always! Atmosphere buzzing, as always! Service, sadly lacking on this occasion as our waiter had obviously not taken his morning "happy" pill and found it difficult to smile or utter anything more than one word. He didn't even bother to check if we wanted anything else, or check if the food was ok. Shame really as it detracted from our enjoyment of our visit.

Undeniably the best manager and waiting staff I've ever had the pleasure to meet. Today I had the pleasure of eating there with my son. I cannot thank them enough for being accommodating and caring in the way they handled all situations that arose. I don't even live near here but cannot wait to come back! :)

We came here a few days ago. Although food was good we couldn't enjoy it. First of all, the lady at the entrance sat us down at a table we were not happy with as it was next to the cooking area and there was people walking past our table constantly. We then asked another member of staff to change tables and they sat us at a table near the entrance were the door was opening all the time and it was freezing. On top of that, the same lady came back saying, with an attitude, that she needed the table back in an hour ( just to point out the fact the restaurant was half empty). At that point we should have left and I regret not leaving. I also noticed, when we left that the comfortable tables were all available, meaning they werent booked, so there was no reason for them to sit us at two unacceptable tables. We are for sure not coming back.

Dreadful food. Under cooked "thin crispt" pizza. Horrible sauce on kids pasta. Prosecco barely drinkable as almost flat. Chaotic however Manager and staff doing their best and let down by kitchen.

The designer outlet experience on boxing day was quite intense so lunch was an opportune time to relax. The service was great and our waiter was polite and engaging, the food was fine.

Me and my partner came for lunch today and there's not a bad word I could say about our experience. The food was a 10/10 and the service was excellent. We were served by waiter, Mondi, who was very friendly and had a funny personality. The atmosphere was relaxing, warm and friendly. Not once did we feel uncomfortable. P.S: We ordered the Pollo ad Astra, American Hot, Garlic Dough Balls, and the Billionaire's Sundae. All absolutely amazing and would 100% recommend.

Firstly, Agi our waitress was lovely. She made us welcome and is just such a nice person. Food was cooked freshly but I found mine bland and tasteless..My daughter's was better and in hindsight should have had what she had. Otherwise it was enjoyable.

We had a lovely waitress called Hannah, she took a lot of time to come and chat to us, offer to take some family photos for us and overall made our experience really welcoming. The food was lovely. But it was Hannah that really made our day if I’m honest, it’s not often you have customer service like this. Our baby was crying a little and not a fuss was made but instead the staff adored her. We would definitely come again.
