Pizza Express in Portsmouth

Really variable service today. First server was amazing, lady in her late 50s. Polite and attentive. We then get our food delivered by another server,no interaction. Meals placed and gone. No option to ask fir chilli oil etc, had to get ourselves. Restaurant also rather grubby lots of rubbish on floor so we asked for another table. Food good. Tasty and on point.

We recently visited Portsmouth and ate here twice both times the food was very tasty and the service was impeccable. We tried the mozzarella, pizzas and pasta.

Service was good however over priced and the garlic butter has changed… hardly taste the garlic. Food was okay but not for the price!

We had a good time here, service was attentive and friendly, and accommodating . Food was as always good and as per pizza express standards. Atmosphere is nice and we set at the table by the window and could enjoy the sunset ! I have no issues in coming back to this place for some hot pizza and drinks . Good spot after the walk on the beach.

Had a Lovley meal our waiter George was really kind and friendly and top notch at his job

terrible pizza , wrong pizza sizes, smaller, and 1h 20 min after order it arrived cold, of course.

Food was not at its best. Halloumi bites were soggy and very greasy. The wrong main was brought out but quickly rectified. But the whole experience was not as good as you would usually expect, for a quiet wed eve.

Food was cold upon arrival, quality of the food was shocking especially for the amount of money it cost.

Packaged extremely well, still piping hot when delivered, tasted unbelievable and was great value for money!! Really very impressed!

unfortunaly the pizzas were almost tasteless, no garlic flavour, no cheese flavour present at all. only the taste of pepperoni and onion chutney palatable. the dough is suprisingly chewy for a thin crust.

3 hours since ordering and the food still hasn’t arrived and the expected delivery time is still more than a hour. Seems unlikely the food will actually be delivered.

We visited for my Dad’s birthday and I can’t say we had a fantastic experience. The food was relatively nice, although I could have done with far more toppings on my pizza. I can’t say the chocolate cake was worth just shy of £9. The service was really slow and generally poor and we had to ask multiple times for glasses for water and we were being hassled to pay the bill which was incorrect. There was also a terrible draft from the door which we were sat near.

Been waiting for 3 hours. Cant even work out how to cancel the order on this website. Useless. If i get charged i want my money back

Food is really good , quick service, Teresa was so helpful attentive and extremely knowledgeable and an asset to the restaurant , we eat out a lot and her service was amazing 5 stars to Teresa . Extremely satisfied and this is purely because i believe a lot on customer service and will come back again . Please reward her . Many thanks

Fantastic food but let down by appalling front of house staffing. Did nothing but complain about how busy it was despite only three other tables having customers on. We ordered drinks then didn't get any. A terrible experience would not recommend, considering that there are so many other, cheaper, better restaurants very close by. Hats off to the chefs because the food was lovely, they've been let down big time.

Food was great and the waiter David was brilliant. A fantastic night at Pizza Express Gunwharf. Great atmosphere as well. Also, Pizza Express now do gluten free romana as one of our party was gluten intolerant.

So impressed by the customer service at Pizza Express, Gunwharf Quays. Our waiter, David, was so well informed and courteous and went above and beyond to make our evening lovely - nothing was too much trouble. Good customer service is rare these days but it is definitely evident at this restaurant where the staff are doing a fantastic job!

Great evening recently at this Pizza Express. George who looked after us, confessed after we had paid that it was only his third shift! We would never have known from the way that he dealt with us. Well done 🙌🏻

I ordered a takeaway from this restaurant for my son and I. The food was cold but more importantly the pizza was very badly made. It actually consisted of two layers of pizza dough, which weren't connected, which meant that it was difficult to cut and as it was eaten it fell apart. Horrible. Sad really, as I used to take my son to Pizza Express in a different town most months when he was a little boy, and we had lots of great memories. I wouldn't purchase from here again.

Not as good as visits to others in the chain. Calzone pizza was a bit over cooked and tough. Starter plates were not cleared before mains arrived so we had to move them out of the way and it took two times to get the bill. It was early evening but they were quite busy.

Even though it was early evening they were quite busy and struggling to cope. My calzone was slightly over cooked and tough whilst the filling was still only warm. Service was a bit slow and when our mains came they had not cleared the starter plates so we had to lift them up. Getting the bill was a bit of a struggle. Thought we were going to enjoy as much as when we visited other branches, but will not be rushing back here.

Not delivered. Waited to 2 hours and was not delivered. And I had not had any phone call either .

Made me fall back in love with pizza express again 😍 Not only were our pizzas delicious, Teresa was so lovely, friendly and so helpful. She helped us use the app to see the incredible discounts which made us enjoy it EVEN MORE 🤩😂 Thank you very much, will definitely be our restaurant of choice when visiting gunwharf!

David was so helpful attentive and extremely respectful, we eat out a lot and his service was amazing 5 stars to David. An asset to your branch @ Gunwharf Quays Southampton. Extremely satisfied and this is purely because of David. Please reward him x

We always have a great experience with pizza express. The whole family enjoys the food it’s our go to for an occasion.

Brad (manager) and his colleague (Beth) were 10/10,as was the delicious Pollo Pesto (Buonissimo) and the delicious Peroni Lager (Buonissima)!

I've eaten here a few times when I've visited Gun Wharf. It's my favourite Pizza Express. I always have Polla Astra Leggaria. It tastes amazing here compared with other branches of pizza Express I've eaten at. The service today was really so good. Charming staff. ( a very tall young guy and a older lady who really was attentive). One of our party has a dairy intolerance and it was repeatedly checked to make sure each dish served was correct. They couldn't have done more if they tried. My pizza was really really tasty. Cooked to perfection. We really enjoy using reward points to reduce the bill. The toilets were clean (unlike another Pizza Express I had to complain about). A very enjoyable meal/experience and the staff really do add to it.

We had an amazing waiter called David who gave amazing service! Really friendly and helpful. And very efficient. He was super accomodating for my dietary requirements as well. Good food and overall a great experience.

Took a long time for the restaurant to actually prep the food, when it arrived was cold and not the crispy pizza promised, it was chewy instead. as for the potato dippers, not even cooked properly!

Cold food pizza was like a chewy flipflop and overpriced

The pizza is not made fresh to order. I like a day old pizza and yet this one was so stale that it was probably made 2 days ago. Just like the other reviews say, my pizza arrived cold, and I live in Gunwharf! So it didn't get cold during delivery

The staff was really friendly and helpful, the food was amazing, as usually ! We love Pizza Express ! We're having our daughter's Birthday party at Pizza Express ! Highly recommend!

We visited on a Thursday night with family and friends, we welcomed by Ollie the store manger. We were served by David who was very friendly and helpful. He made our evening very special, and delivered great service. The food was lovely and fresh, always a go to when dining out for pizza and pasta. Toilets were clean and food was delivered quickly. David was happy to help with anything that we needed and delivered great service. We look forward to returning again soon!

We went out as a family to the Pizza Express restaurant in Gunwharf Quays and really enjoyed it. Our waiter David went above and beyond to make sure we had a great dining experience. The food was excellent and would really recommend the ROMANA Bruno pizza, it tasted so good!

Don’t try using this Pizza Express at 21:22. Even though they don’t shut til 22:00 they were empty but wouldn’t serve us. Some cock and bull story about having Arun earlier and the kitchen was empty - they just wanted to go home early ….. confirmed by the lovely chap in Zizzi next door. Avoid this restaurant!

Pizza turned up cold and the Romana base was like cardboard

Great! I often dine at the chain and this location stood out, great service which was funny and friendly on top of the great dining experience with the food prepared perfectly and promptly. all the staff deserve praise.

We had a great lunch today, food was as we expected, however what made this visit better than normal, is the staff, I don't know the name of the waiter that I managed to knock all the plates of food out of his hand and send the garlic and herd dip flying over other customers, but he was great, I was mortified, he sorted everything out and pacified all the other customer, the manager was great to. I didn't get his name either, we were in on the 31st of August at around 2pm I'd that helps. Please praise them. Thanks again

Awful manager who was extremely rude to my young family and I. Please avoid if you have children or a pram and especially if you have twins. I have never been treated so badly whilst having a meal out. I'd recommend Franky and Benny's who went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed.

I usually like pizza express, but on this occasion was not good. We booked, staff were slow to greet us, we wanted to sit outside, however we were not allowed to sit in seat we pointed out even though table was clear and ready. We sat outside on a table that we could sit at, only to have a drip keep dropping onto the table from a pipe above. We asked to move, and a different waiter moved us to the table that we original asked to sit at. Service was slow, taking order, delivering drinks and it seemed to take forever to get out pizzas whilst we could see every one getting theirs who arrived after us. Food was ok but nothing special. This really spoilt my sons birthday meal, and ended up paying circa £80 for four pizzas and a couple of drinks for the displeasure.

The pizza I ordered was horrible no flavour at all I'll be giving this place a swerve for sure

Called in while shopping in the area and decided to sit inside as it was the hottest day of the year. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the comfortable seating made it a lovely place to be. I had a an American pizza which was delicious and the garlic bread lovely. For three pizzas, two garlic breads and three drinks it came to £82 but considering everything I believe it was worth it.

We had Eric as our server tonight , he was amazing! Nothing was too much trouble he kept our glasses topped up was warm and friendly through and even took some nice family photos for us! Thankyou Eric from one hospitality worker to another you were amazing!

2 hours to get a pizza that was under 30 degrees is abysmal. appalling service. probably not even safe to eat at that temperature. I expect a refund.

Manager should be sacked absolute jobworth no help what so ever on the phone. Should not be working in a place like this. Wasted £50 because they wouldn't help me on something so simple. Will never be going back again.

Lovely atmosphere and a warm welcome from staff. Great service and friendly waiters especially ollie who helped me decide which pizza to choose, he was friendly and polite. Food was delicious and didn’t have to wait long at all. Had a great time, definitely recommend 👍🏼👍🏼

We were served by David, who was extremely polite and attentive, the other staff all seemed lovely as well. Food expertly prepared and delicious, go for Romano if you prefer a nice thin but wider base. Calamari just melted in the mouth, not chewy at all. Separate children's menu.

Disgusting chicken wings colds and burnt and pizza cold

Slightly disappointed with my pizza today but as a small business owner myself the staff reaction was above and beyond…nobody’s perfect so feedback is king, but very grateful to you all!

We happened to walk past this restaurant and decided we'd go in there. We were greeted warmly inside and shown to our table. Then one of the very friendly employees came and took our order. The food came relatively quickly and we didn't expect much. But when we tried it, we were simply surprised at how delicious a pizza can actually be. The location was also very good, right at the harbor. That's why I give it 5 stars. I recommend everyone who is ever in Portsmouth to go to this very good restaurant.

I would give no stars if possible. We were waiting for a table on Monday at Gunwharf. There were lots of tables available outside, staff kept walking past and just ignoring us. A male staff member then walked past and abruptly shouted to move to the side and out of the way. We were standing by the sign 'please wait here to be seated' sign. The attitude and behaviour of the staff member totally shocked and appalled us. We left and enjoyed an amazing meal at All Bar One instead.

Visited on a very busy Saturday afternoon. We requested to be seated with a bit of shade and sun. Cleared a table and seated us very quickly. Abi was our server she was really friendly and efficient made us feel welcome. Food and drinks arrived quickly even despite how busy they were. Would recommend this branch. Thank you.

Lovely waiter and waitress. Extortionate prices. Charged approx. £15 for a double JD & Coke. They are charging a double at the same rate as a single, not displaying prices on menu. On querying they have stated they only have one option in their new system so have to charge them at full single rates. Happy to pay prices if expectations are aligned or prices displayed. All other places in GWQ do not charge in this way or avoid placing spirit prices and billing practices on the menu. The food was OK but we paid £105 for 3 pizzas and 4 drinks. Could’ve gone to Blanc for these prices and had some quality food.

Absolutely awful service, management no help at all and staff make you feel not welcome. extremely unprofessional and food tasteless.

food was cold but good quality so tasted nice. delivery guy ignored simple instruction ‘front door to left of main building’ so i had to walk out to collect it, im blind so this is tricky. but was on time

Visited the other day. Mainly writing this review to praise our server, we didn’t manage to catch his name but he had a tattoo on his right forearm. The most professional service, very kind, patient and helpful, giving us updates on our food whilst managing to balance all his other tables. The food was great, as usual, the restaurant was very busy, but the staff all seemed to manage it very well.

Great food and fantastic service.will certainly go back when next in Portsmouth.

One of the nicest locations I've visited for the chain. On what seemed a busy night the food was as good as we are used to. The waitress, Abbie was lovely, friendly and effecient.

The food was due to arrive at 8:20 pm. The original delivery time was delayed 3 times while I waited. I had waited for 25 minutes beyond the delivery time and decided to go to the restaurant myself to get the food. They told me the just eat driver had to take it - and also that they are always late. I then made my way back to the delivery location. The food finally arrived at 10 past 9. Almost an hour after it was meant to come. To top it off the food was freezing cold. I expect a full refund.

I know its not their fault, but a toddler was allowed to walk along the seats. Food very good, highly recommend the Calzones - although they were quite small for the price.

There delivery service is very slow

King prawn pizza that had 3 and a half prawns on it and a pathetic amount of halloumi bites that was swimming in grease which was nearly £30 for the extremely disappointing experience.

Food was good apart from the driver was rude. Said to us “I only wait 2 minutes and then I leave” before giving our food.

We ordered take away pizzas from this restaurant they arrived cold, the delivery driver wasn't interested when we pointed this out. Because they were cold the thin crusts were greasy. We'd waited over an hour and we're hungry, we don't have a kitchen at present so we ate them cold. When I complained to Pizza express they pretty much called me a liar and did nothing. Terrible food and terrible service. At £40 for two pizzas terrible price too. Don't go there.

Awful manager, wasn't interested in the slightest. Very busy atmosphere but pizza was delicious.

Absolutely awful experience at this pizza express. Was turned away because they claimed they could not accommodate our pram, when the restaurant was half empty and others had their pushchairs and prams in there. The manager was abhorrent who completely embarrassed my family, in front of loads of customers. When we asked if we could sit at a table of 6 and remove the chairs she refused, but also refused to give us alternative times to come back when a more child friendly space became available. We have a newborn there is nothing we can do about the pram, just kicked us out. I would avoid this restaurant at all costs, not family friendly! You will be discriminated against if you have young children. Despicable behaviour from supposed manager.

Food is so cold and wet with the rain

Came here for a nice time out as it is usually one of my boyfriends favourite places to eat at, however this was not the case this time. The server was nice enough but after our starters we realised our main order was forgotten about and we waited a hour and a half for our waiter to finally notice our missing order and tell us our food was coming, this was extremely agrovating as we had been patiently waiting, just suspecting that it must be really busy and thats why it was taking so long. Not that they forgot our order!! To top this off, when the pizza finally arrived it was very tough and oily and the waiter took our forks ,from when we had finished our starters, and forgot to replace them so i had to go ask for new forks, then when we got the bill, not only was it very expensive for the quality of food but the waitor forgot to bring over the card machine. I ended up asking for the drinks to be taken off (which they were) as i was very unsaticfied with the wait and i dont normally do this but we were very upset and it completely put us in a bad mood for the end of our nice day out. Not pleased

Wasn't rushed when viewing menu. Needed to ask for salt & pepper, oils etc. Staff were busy so getting their attention was interesting. Food was nice and tasty.
