Pityme Inn in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

On holiday for a week and we visited 3 times. First time was for a drink only, second for an evening meal and thenthirdnfir Sunday lunch. On all occasions, service was friendly, attentive (without being in your face or false) and courteous. Our evening meal was a beautiful piece of grilled haddock in a very tasty sauce with vegetables and potatoes. We also ordered a side of truffled mac n cheese. It was absolutely amazing. Sunday lunch was probably the best I've ever eaten as a pub dining experience and I've eaten a fair few in my 59 years. We opted for the 3 meat version of beef, pork and turkey. The vegetable selection was interesting and perfectly cooked. The giant yorkshire pudding was delicious but for me, the roast potatoes and gravy were the jewels in the very large crown. There was no room for pudding but on our evening visit, we did share the amaretto chocolate torte, which was fantastic 😀. For the quality and portion sizes, I would say The Pityme Inn is excellent value for money.

Dinner for 4 adults in a ‘pod’ which is, in reality, a shed. Note to management: please, please could you treat the floors of the pods in the same way as you must attend to floors inside your pub, ie as clean as you can make them? Our pod was not clean. Not even one out of ten clean. The rectangular, glass table would work so much better with the heavy crockery if you could only provide a table MAT for each customer. The unavoidable loud and unwanted music inside our pod put a cloud over the evening. A silly situation which you could easily rectify. We asked if it could please be turned off in our pod (apparent Not possible) and for a while the volume was reduced. Then it was suddenly turned up again and normal conversation stopped. Front of house staff need basic training in how to make clients feel valued and welcomed. The cheerful member of staff looking after us, however (Emily) was delightful, attentive and polite. I was not a big fan of the plant based burger. Looked like leather and tasted like cardboard. The chips were great, though. The Car park is too small. Not a lot you can do about that. The staff were seen to be doing their best but, as we left, we passed five uncleared tables right by the entrance, which would have given a bad impression to anyone coming in. I would urge whoever is in charge of this pub to ‘be a customer’: see how you are welcomed: sit inside a pod and check out the cleanliness. Order a meal and see how much better table mats could improve the crockery/glass table issue, when food is brought in: close the door to the pod and see if you could converse against the noise emanating from the speaker: try the vegan burger, I dare you. Not the best experience, I’m afraid.

The Pityme Inn never fails! We were a walk-in group, fairly early in the evening - just as well as by seven the place was filling up. The team and food cannot be faulted. The service was swift and attentive, our friendly server checked back to make sure we were happy with our drinks and meal - which we were. The restaurant is so clean and fresh, decor hits exactly the right note for a family friendly venue just off the coast. Lots of light flooding thru the windows, we could see outside dining areas which we can't wait to try on warmer evenings. Roll on summer, we'll be back! 5*+

Perfection - great food, lovely outdoor spots for groups to enjoy hearty food in private little huts. Good non alcoholic options, too! Neighbouring shop offers high quality produce. Really added to our holiday experience and was worth the drive from where we stayed.

We’ve had some really good meals at The Pityme over the last few years but inconsistency in preparation and presentation often seem to spoil the experience. Sadly, last night’s visit was no exception. My wife ordered the Greek Salad as a main course (£15) but was seriously underwhelmed and disappointed with what was put in front of her. It smacked of a total lack of knowledge and imagination in the kitchen. A large bowl of iceberg lettuce with large (quartered) tomatoes, some onions and cucumber (not enough) and what looked like mashed feta cheese on the top. Salad, it might have been - Greek, it certainly wasn’t. No herbs like Oregano, no dressing, just bland and very ordinary. Come on Pityme, you can do better than that! Our great waitress was very understanding and took the “Greek Salad” away to presumably put it out of it’s misery. My Fish and Chips was lovely. Good value, well cooked and plenty of it, as I remembered from previous visits to this lovely Pub Restaurant. Wine and beer are good quality and well presented, the staff are friendly and welcoming. I write this review simply to prompt the Pityme to up their game by a notch or two. We look forward to returning in the future.

This is my first time being here but my colleague has been here before, we do deep cleans on kitchens and instantly just fell in love with the ambiance of the place. Staff soo friendly, and especially sitting by the fire , class place , I loved it wonderful

This is a busy, but friendly pub in St Minver, Cornwall. We came today for a late Sunday lunch, following a long beach walk, and we were not disappointed. Friendly service and the food was excellent value for money. We're very fussy about Sunday Roasts, and there was not one single aspect of the meal, or experience, that we could fault. It was a lovely meal with roast meats, roast potatoes, roast parsnips and a wide offering of different vegetables. Everything on the plate was very well cooked and the gravy was delicious. The only comment that we could perhaps make was that we were all so completely stuffed that none of us were able to manage dessert which was a shame as the menu looked lovely. We will definitely be visiting again.

Popped in for some food and a coffee after a drizzly walk to the local church. Rob was very polite and courteous, nothing was too much trouble. Loved the fresh interior and traditional feel of the pub. Would highly recommend as a pit stop either to or from Rock. Found out that the owners have a few others too including the London Inn at Padstow! Another firm favourite. Can’t wait to come back!

Really lovely pub. Quirky and unique from the outside, clean, modern and minimal inside, while retaining it’s charm. The gentleman who greeted and served us couldn’t have been more accommodating, even lighting the fire for us, which was perfect after a brisk February walk on Rock beach. Great selection of beers, really pleased to see a Beavertown on tap! Lots of local stuff too, (the old man can’t stand a Cornish pub that doesn’t serve rattler, luckily they did) We had a quick bite to eat, lovely pizza, clearly handmade and really hit the spot. Overall a really nice experience. We’ll be back regularly. We’ll definitely be there for the live music nights. We had a one night stay booked as we were visiting family who live near by. We checked in to our room which initially appeared quite pleasant (although quite small and chilly) but instantly saw dirty windows covered in cobwebs. Once we had a little look around the room we realised it hadn’t had a proper clean in a very long time and there was thick dust and general grubiness all round. Shower was particularly grimy and the bathroom was complete with a half used toilet roll and half empty soap/shower gel dispensers! We assumed there had been a mistake and we had been put in the wrong room but the lovely lady on reception we spoke to went and checked another room for us to move to but it was ‘cleaned’ to the same standard. She gave us a drink in the bar whilst she went and cleaned another room for us as best she could.

Love it here.. Great friendly staff and a nice welcoming atmosphere, food was impeccable as usual ... Will be back very soon.

Came here last night. We come to Cornwall in this area a lot but have never been to this pub. It’s really lovely and quite contemporary on the inside. We had booked a table and were promptly seated and given menus and drinks order taken. There were 5 of us and had starters and mains - whitebait, chicken wings, chorizo sausages and 2 soups- all delicious. Then prawn pizza, scampi, fish and chips and 2 seafood curries (the curry was delicious) everyone really enjoyed their food and the serving staff were lovely. I couldn’t fault the place and can’t wait to return.

Most delicious relaxed supper with a great team making sure our family reunion on this special evening was perfect. All food choices were well presented and nothing disappointed. We appreciated the bubbly to mark our anniversary and just had a wonderful evening.

Went here last year and was mediocre so we gave it another chance again this year.We were very disappointed as service took over an hour and food was much below expected.The choices were very limited and similar. The chicken curry was tough and plain and the sauce was bland and tasted like it had been there for a while.We were disappointed as nothing was fresh and wasn't that cheap either.

We were a party of 10 on a Sunday evening our food was poor the roast was microwaved and mine even had a tue sticker in it ! It wasn’t that hot either. The chicken burger my son had he said had like a lump of gristle in it . The staff were like we were an inconvenience for them my husband had the fish curry and found hair in it . We had puddings and they were not that much better either . Our meals came out slow they were not all brought out together it was a real shame as we are local but won’t be going again .

Disappointed with the mussels after reading great reviews, many of mine were gritty, making eating them difficult. Three other mains came out with the fourth a short time later. All other means were enjoyed. Service wasn't great, slow, and we had to ask for drinks, even had to remind staff that we had ordered extra drinks when we saw it waiting on the bar. We had to ask for extra cutlery after we had eaten our starters. Not sure if would return, lots of other excellent resturant in the area serving great food with impeccable service.

We booked for Sunday lunch last weekend and found the Pitme Inn to be a fabulous experience. The food was piping hot and very tasty (stuffing balls are a must ) the service was friendly and we plan to return later this week , also very dog friendly which for us is a bonus .

On the first night of our holiday we enjoyed a meal at the Pityme Inn - fish Thai curry and the prawn and smoked salmon pizza. Both lovely! Our final act before we left for home was to have breakfast here. The cappuccinos were lovely and we both really enjoyed our smashed avocado and poached eggs, and Eggs Benedict. We also used the shop several times - buying the frozen dinners. We enjoyed the fish pie, lasagne and chicken korma. The shop stocks a good range of produce. We found the service friendly. We’ll definitely be back when we return to the area next year!

So you order from the menu and are given something else, Dover sole replaced by haddock, no announcement that your meal is not available, just replaced with some dried up fish. Apparently I am aggressive for calling this out. Nice try! Your food is shocking and pityme has been dying for years now and now you have hit the bottom!

The Pityme Inn is a great pub with a warm ambience and excellent service. We ate outside in one of the Pods which we really liked. The food was very good. We enjoyed the fish and chips and burger, which my husband said was one of the best he had eaten. The staff were efficient and friendly, continually checking we were ok for drinks etc. We would definitely return when visiting next year!

We booked a table but didn’t actually eat there. Unfortunately the place didn’t feel clean the tables were sticky and glasses were cloudy. It was a shame as we had been recommended by a friend.
