Solo basura.

A simple Asian eatery in Whitechapel with great lunch offers. It deserves 3,5 stars really, sitting somewhere between very good and average. It’s a nice little place, nothing extra special or fabulous here but a lot of healthy options, friendly service with a smile and cosy settings. A good neighbourhood cafe.

This is the first time I'e been into Pitha Ghor and looks it's been recently refurbished. Inside the the restaurant, lots of leaves adorning the walls and plants placed around giving the restaurants a nice fresh and healthy look. The restaurant seems to be a fusion with a mixed menu of standard British cafe fare and Indian food. There an extensive menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Not to mention a fair range of healthy fruit, smoothies and lassi drinks available. I got a sag paneer wrap which was very nice. The wrap was kind of like a standard tortilla wrap lightly toasted on a gaucho grill which did not fill me with confidence about it's compatibility as a vegetarian. Though it was nicely toast to firmly hold the filling in place. Aside the from the paneer, the filling was nice and creamy. However it felt like the cook skimped on the paneer. I literally counted about 4 small pieces. One downside it that the prices of both food and drinks are expensive especially for this part of London. Considering what I got in the wrap, it didn't feel like value for money.

Please don't waste your time or money visiting here. Once upon a time this place was one of the best in London. Now, the food isn't fit for a dog. And that's before we get to the service. The lamb chops were this restaurant's signature dish. Now I wouldn't serve them to my worst enemy. They are thin, fatty, lifeless poor excuses for meat. The kebabs are made with an old, dry, musty mince. The masala fish comes in a batter where the powdered spices are raw and singe the palate. The naan is doughy, lacking even a hint of crispiness. The salad is stale, with mouldy tomatoes accompanying the limp cucumber. The curries are all served in the same slop of a sauce made by someone with a passing acquaintance with curries of the subcontinent. Service is atrocious. Are the staff racist? They need to remember they are in London, and some British people may make the mistake of gracing their doorways and that all customers of every hue should be treated with the same level of respect. And not be made to wait for 20 minutes while regulars are seated and served their food. Farewell to a fond establishment. Over the past decade I've spent many pounds in here, and made many more memories. But everything comes to an end. It's a shame it had to be this way.

I recently had masala dosa for lunch during the week. It was delicious. It will be my go to whenever I'm in the area from now on. The atmosphere was fine but the food was incredible and service very friendly.
