Very welcoming and caring staff, serving delicious traditional Welsh food in a lovely cosy atmosphere - absolutely the right place for one of many rainy days in Cardiff. Definitely recommendable.

We had high hopes for this place but unfortunately we were disappointed by the food. The rarebit was pretty good (6/10). The lamb cawl was fair (4/10) and the steak & ale pie was poor (2/10). Both the cawl and the pie had a bad slightly metallic aftertaste. The pie was way too salty and flavors were unbalanced (we couldn’t finish it because it was so unpalatable - a rarity for us). We hope they can improve in the future!

🐑Welsh soup, "Cawl Cymreig" in Welsh, is a mutton and vegetable stew cooked by Welsh people in winter. On March 1, St David, the patron Saint of Wales Day is a day that every household will bring out their own version to commemorate and celebrate. The proportion of ingredients varies, but most of them use seasonal vegetables, plus leeks, potatoes, rutabagas/Swedish turnips (? The translation is so beautiful, it means Swede), radishes, etc., and are stewed with beef or sheep. The slow-cooked Cawl Cymreig lamb in this restaurant can be forked easily, and the vanilla flavor is at the back. I loved eating this stomach-warming thing after being out for a long time that day! I also tried the Welsh rarebit, "caws pobi". The bread is crispy and then spread with a prepared cheese sauce on top and then baked. The secret of this dish that is said to have appeared in the 18th century is in the sauce. In addition to cheddar cheese, it usually also includes Brown Ale, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. It uses sourdough as the base and chives on top to neutralize the greasy, spicy and crunchy texture. Just one bite after another. . . We were a large party of 13 and even given the pressure of this, we all had lovely food and a great service. Will definitely return.

Found this place through various YouTube videos and wanted to try it out. And it was sooo worth it. So especially for the drinks and the appetizer. Clear recommendation: Welsh Rarebits in various versions. If you happen to be in Cardiff, you should definitely stop by.

We went for food here on 29/12/2023 and it was amazing😁 The food was absolutely stunning! The manager (I’m so sorry I didn’t catch her name) was an absolute gem along with everyone working. They made us feel so at home, had a good laugh and a joke with all the staff. Overall 10/10, we will definately be back❤️ Ps Long Island ice tea is top notch here🤩

I went here with a few friends and we were sat outside but the place stunk of nasty toilets. The food was like eating dry wallpaper, bland, souless, tasteless. I've have better food from a can. Come on guys you need to do better than that, you are in the middle of Cardiff, prime location to do well and you serve that food which I wouldn't serve to a rat. You really need to make the place smell better too. Staff were fine but there are fundamental flaws. Fix the smell, fix the capacity, it's so choked up when I walked inside. Absolutely work on the food. Word of mouth is very valuable and you won't have returning customers. The owners need to have a serious rethink.

Fabulous food, friendly staff. Quiet with fun and quirky decor. Homemade, fresh dishes. Local ingredients. Smooth, well made, cocktails! Walk past all the chains and other boring places and come here!

Never in my life have I had such a warm and cozy welcome, what a stunning staff and such a great attitude towards service. The food was delectable. I had been craving Welsh rarebit for years and it was great to finally satisfy that craving with some traditional and homely food. The burger was juicy and flavourful, and the Guinness plentifull. Little hidden treasure, had a Sunday roast here,food was excellent as was the staff..highly recommended.

Firstly, the ambience was exquisite. The team was really nice and patient. The waitress suggested Welsh sausage and mash, which was really good. The rarebits were delicious and filling. The Welsh loaded fries were not 'loaded' enough. We went looking for lamb cawl, however, because of the long cooking time, we couldn't try it. The team was really kind and offered us a take away. We weren't able to go back for the lamb cawl, but will definitely be coming back.

Me and my fiancee wandered in to Pitch on a whim. Despite turning up 10 minutes before the kitchen was due to close, we were welcomed in and seated straight away. The staff were friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was relaxed and cozy. Furthermore, the food is hearty and delicious. I have to recommend the beef and ale pie, it's absolutely exquisite. A small establishment with a big heart, if you're in Cardiff and you want a bite to eat, give Pitch a go!

We loved the atmosphere and some of the food. We went there to try the traditional welsh rarebits and Glamorgan sauvages. They were good and we liked them. The desert however, a wesh apple pie, was really disappointing and was a bitter ending.

Visited The Pitch on Sunday and we both had the Sunday lunch. The plates were piled high with meat and veg, etc. It was delicious. We then had one Strawberry cheesecake and one Apple pie. Again delicious Staff were really attentive, and we didn't have to wait long for our food. Will definitely visit The Pitch again on our next visit to Cardiff.

Brilliant place to eat and drink. Staff really polite and attentive. Slight quibble over the starter but it was sorted immediately . Would have liked to have left a larger tip but we had no more cash!! A gem of a place.

Great little place championing welsh produce in the buzzing Mill Lane cafe bar quarter. With seats inside and out, you can enjoy food and drink in a lovely atmosphere. The service was very good and helpful.

Nice bar, with a good atmosphere, serving tasty food and drinks. You can tell that the front of house staff enjoy working here as this is reflected by the excellent service. It was my first time trying Welsh rarebit, so it’s difficult to compare with other restaurants serving the same dish but, it was tasty and I would have it again. For mains the Glamorgan sausages and the mash were nice but there was too much gravy for my liking that it overpowered the other flavors…perhaps they should serve the gravy is a separate gravy boat. Overall, a nice bar and eatery that I would recommend if you want to try some “local” Welsh dishes.

Had a really great dinner here on Saturday night. Seated outside and it started raining and no sooner had my girlfriend said "oh, it's raining" the overhead canopy was already being deployed. We had Welsh rarebit bites, a burger and a chicken dish. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun with 80s/90s tunes. Service was friendly and quick and our waiter had the greatest hair I have ever seen - mad props to the guy it was glorious! Will definitely pop in again whenever we're in town.

Zum Abendessen waren wir im „Pitch“. Als Vorspeise hatten wir das Welsh Rarebit mit den Knoblauchchampignons. Als Hauptgericht hatte ich das Gammon Steak mit Eiern, meine Freundin hatte die drei Würstchen. Alles war exzellent zubereitet und schön angerichtet. Zum Digestiv baten wir um lokale Spezialitäten, und bekamen sehr guten Whiskey und Rum. Das Personal ist extrem nett und zuvorkommend.

Sehr gutes Essen, aufmerksamer Service. Einziger Negativpunkt war die zu laute Musik vom Nachbarrestaurant

We had one of the worst lunch we ever had.We did wait for an hour for a realky bad quality welsh rarebit and a triple sandwich.Once i asked for a take away box they brough me a greasy and hairy box that i refused even to touch.Definetly not recomended place for eating.

The worst Sunday roast I’ve ever had in my life. It wasn’t even a roast. It was three pieces of left over meat that was heated and grilled. Never coming back here again. Too many other and better choices on the area.

Went with a Groupon voucher that had expired due to covid and they kindly allowed us to extend it. The staff are so welcoming here and friendly they cannot do enough for you. Two lovely young girls serving and checking if everything was ok. The roast dinner was out of this world and I would highly recommend it. We chose the pork and it was amazing. Plenty roast potatoes, veg and a pot of gravy. Needed a little nap after it was delicious. Finished off with a coffee. The place has a lovely ambience the owner makes an effort to chat with everyone which is lovely to see. It was fab to see it so busy after all the time they had to close due to the pandemic I wish them every success and we will definitely return again some time soon. Excellent service from the staff. We had booked a Groupon Afternoon tea with Prosecco at 11am on a Saturday but on arrival we were informed that Afternoon tea is not served before 1pm (this is not advertised on the Groupon website). The staff were extremely accommodating and asked the kitchen to prepare the afternoon tea for us. Within 10min we were enjoying a really nice selection of sandwiches and desserts (I am vegetarian and my sandwiches were served on a separate plate :) )The only negative thing was that the online photos of the cafe looks very different. I would say it is more if a bar that a cafe/restaurant.

Outstanding customer service, the doorman and the man in the pink shirt working on the afternoon of the 26:6:21 was nothing but respectful, courteous and customer focused! Reasonably priced drinks too! Would definitely come again the feel of the place is laid back. Couldn’t praise it enough.

Been there 5 times in past month. THE place to go in Cdf. Great staff, decent prices and a sensible tolerance for exhuberant (not rowdy!!) behaviour. Recomment the Tequilla Sunrise. Shame the Moon Rise is stymied by national lack of in geredients!

Came here on a Sunday with my family when i came to visit for the weekend. We had the Sunday roast platter with beef, a breakfast and a carbonara. All STUNNING, the beef was so thick cut and loads of gravy the ambiance was so lovely as we sat outside, really friendly staff. We will definitely be back!

Booked afternoon tea here for my partner and myself. Very disappointed. Sandwiches were bacon, cheese and tomato and cucumber. The bread looked as if it was the cheapest they could find. I have had better sandwiches at kids parties. As for the cakes not home made and not very appetising. On a positive note the prosecco was very nice and the coffees also. Staff very friendly. Really let down by the food I could have thrown it together in ten minutes myself and wouldn't have cost more than a fiver. It's a shame as staff were very attentive but will not return and would not recommend the afternoon tea.

Pitch is a long time favourite for me. The service is always impeccable and the food is amazing. Cannot recommend enough! Perfect spot for dinner or drinks, whatever the occasion, Pitch is the spot!

Very friendly staff. Prices are amazing. We really enjoyed our night even though we were outdoors. The manager Tom and all the girls serving were a pleasure. Heated area just added to everything we were hoping .

Have been going to Pitch for several years and never had a bad experience. Their cocktails, atmosphere and friendly staff are the best in Cardiff.

The team make you feel welcome, whether it's your first or 50th visit. Food is great and the cocktails blow my mind! They often have great deals or specials on, so don't be afraid to ask. This is always my first port of call for a drink with friends, it should be yours too.

Great home cooked food with a good selection of beers. Great homely feel to this place, will definitely be back.

Fui allí con mi esposo y mi hija para el desayuno de mi cumpleaños. Tuve el desayuno galés completo. Estaba realmente delicioso, y mucho. Mi hija tenía los huevos de brea, le gustó mucho la salsa holandesa. Ha ido a desayunar varias veces y siempre disfruta de este plato. El servicio fue excelente, nada es una molestia. Sin duda volveremos a visitar allí.

Escuche, encontré este lugar en una lista en línea de los mejores lugares para comer comida tradicional galesa. Reservé una mesa en línea y asumí que sería un restaurante interior. Cuando llegamos, en realidad estaba todo para sentarse al aire libre y parecía un pequeño bar en lugar de un lugar donde se podía conseguir comida. Me decepcionó esto porque soy un cobarde con el frío y eran las 7:30 pm. SIN EMBARGO, todo esto pronto se olvidó cuando llegó la comida. Pedimos la capucha de Nan (creo que así se llama), que es un guiso tradicional galés. Pero no cualquier guiso, ¡este guiso tenía QUESO! También pedimos el rarebit galés para compartir y mojar en el estofado. No puedo enfatizar lo suficiente lo deliciosa que era esta comida. Cada bocado era un pedacito de paraíso galés. Definitivamente lo recomendaría; Podría comer esa comida todos los días de mi vida. . .

Visitamos PITCH después de haber visto excelentes críticas en línea sobre su almuerzo del domingo. Dejé PITCH asumiendo que todas estas críticas debían ser falsas y sacando trozos de carne de entre los dientes.Pedimos el plato de carne para compartir, nos dijeron que sería un solomillo rosado finamente cortado. Lo que llegó fueron trozos de ternera seca y recocida. Soy un gran fanático de las verduras al dente, sin embargo, estas verduras simplemente estaban poco cocidas, tanto que eran difíciles de cortar, a la par con la carne. Los budines de Yorkshire eran pasteles rebozados; pesado, quemado y denso.Oh, también salsa bisto. .Si bien el personal fue lo suficientemente amable, feliz de entablar una conversación y establecer una relación, sus habilidades reales de servicio dejaron mucho que desear.No volveré.

El plato Sunday Roast era absolutamente para morirse y era abundante para arrancar, lo disfrutamos tanto que nos esforzamos por pulirlo. No podría hacerle justicia. Las dos veces que hemos visitado el servicio había sido excelente y la comida fuera de este mundo, lo recomiendo encarecidamente.

La joya escondida de Cardiff. Primera vez en Cardiff y me alegro de haber encontrado este lugar. Es tan lindo. Comida casera adecuada con patatas fritas para morirse. Aquí no hay basura congelada. Ambos comimos hamburguesas y fueron increíbles. Pedí cebollas asadas en la mía como no se indica en el menú y esto no fue un problema y obtuve muchas y no tuve ningún problema. La camarera era tan encantadora y burbujeante pero no intrusiva, que es la combinación perfecta. La gerencia también vino por lo que es un toque encantador. Todos los cócteles y los postres estaban deliciosos. La próxima vez que estemos en Cardiff volveremos aquí.

Me he enamorado de este lugar. En primer lugar me encanta la decoración, con una iluminación muy tenue que da una mayor acogida e intimidad. En segundo lugar, la comida es deliciosa: saboreé el Nan's Lamb Cawl y me alegró el día. Y por último pero no menos importante, la atención del personal ha sido magnífica, son realmente encantadores y verdaderos profesionales.Es una pena que no viva en Cardiff, porque si no, repetiría mi visita todos los días.

Mi novio y yo vinimos cuando viajábamos a Gales, aunque un pequeño menú de comida ish, la comida era excelente y el personal era muy amable, animado y muy atento. Los cócteles son un poco caros, ¡pero obtienes lo que pagas!

I was a bit apprehensive about going in as it looked busy. However they kindly sat my son and me at the entrance where it was quieter and away from the chatter and smell of booze. On reflection after sitting down, it wasn’t that busy just people having a good time and talking loudly, as you do. Not a massive menu but what they did, they did fantastically as it should be done. The calamari starter was delicious with home made tartare sauce, mushrooms on toast was to die for as was the fresh bread that was toasted to perfection. My lamb shank melted away from the bone. Chips chunky and hand cut. The rarebit had just the right amount of topping to get your taste buds going without being overwhelming. Cocktails refreshing and a good selection of other drinks. Staff couldn’t be more helpful and wore masks to protect their customers. They also made sure they didn’t touch cups and cutlery and asked we remove the drinks ourselves from trays. Perfectly executed and well thought out procedures which made me feel really safe. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

We went with a groupon deal for the Sunday lunch sharing platter. We were welcomed by a lovely friendly young man, who showed us to our seat. Lovely ambience about the place, nothing was too much trouble and the staff genuinely seemed to enjoy working together. The manager chatted with us explaining how hard things had been for them over lockdown.The sunday lunch was absolutely lovely, you get a choice of chicken, pork or beef ! We had pork and beef and it was delicious.lots of veggies, and Yorkshire puddings.Will definitely return again and I highly recommend it ! Lovely to get back out in the world and social distancing was fab here.

First time here.Took a chance while walking by and managed to get a table of 4.Pleasant service and great drinks.Told we had the table for a limited time which wasn't a problem.Hand sanitisers in place.We will definitely be back for food as looked lovely on the next table.

A really nice non chain restaurant with all locally sourced menu items, lots from Cardiff market including the crusty rolls for the burgers.From the moment we arrived the staff were very friendly and accommodating, food plentiful and very good, we all had different items from the menu and all enjoyed them, burgers proper beef and very filling, steak and chips very nice and chicken very tender. Nothing to find fault with on our visit and the price was very reasonable. Highly recommend supporting this restaurant and bar!

Visited here on 10th Aug to celebrate my 30th birthday. A friend of mine made a mistake with the dinner reservation but Pitch to the rescue! We all wanted to help out locally rather than going to a chain and Pitch were really accommodating even at the nth hour! They allowed a few balloons etc. up and were happy for my friends to bring a cake (not all places are!).We had a gorgeous array of food from the meat and vegan sharing boards plus a few starters and the service from the whole team was second to none from beginning to end.Thank you Pitch!P.S. The espresso martini's are to die for but if in doubt, ask them for a recommendation.

Ate on Saturday. I Had had the lunch..I ordered the rare Rabbit...which far removed from the review from the you tube videos from the vloggers the endless adventure...perhaps they hed run out of cheese...?...Sitting outside is very plesend until when you staey waring everyone around you starts smoking....as a non smoker me and my partner found it difficult...

I'll start with the bad news; the food on our first visit was awful! Not going to say anything more about it and going to give the benefit of the doubt and put it down to having just come out of lockdown and being over-run with people taking advantage of Eat Out to Help Out.However, despite this I'm giving the place four out of five as the staff were outstanding. Attentive, friendly and genuinely concerned that we hadn't enjoyed the food and about what they could do to put things right. As a result, we'd certainly try again next time we're in Cardiff and would recommend anyone to give it a go and make their own mind up.I'm sure once things start to return to normal the food will improve and do justice to the great customer service. Oh, and the mocktails were pretty good too!

We booked the pitcher in Cardiff just as lockdown was easing. Absolutely brilliant. The social distancing was adhered too and the owners were absolutely brilliant. The bar staff nicky was 10/10 and treated us like royalty, unbelievable customer service and a true gentleman. Will 100% recommend this bar and never felt so welcome.

Came for girls night after a week of working hard. Amazing staff, great recommendations great atmosphere. Will be back for sure !!!

First day out out since lock down - they had all the social distancing you could need in place. The food was delicious. The cocktails were scrumptious. The service was phenomenal. And the atmosphere was great! Definitely worth booking in advance - and we didn’t feel rushed. Can recommend the meat sharer and the pina coladas!!

Thankfully we managed to get a table at what was a fully booked venue for the entire time we were there. The food going to the other tables looked beautiful & ours was delicious. Will look to visit again next time I am in Cardiff city centre.

Horrible wet evening, made worse by the knowledge that the rugby had been cancelled. Really enjoyed our meals. Good portion sizes, interesting choice of meals,jovial host and bartender. Good choice of beer. Certainly recommend. Very small though.

We booked the Bottomless Brunch on the Saturday morning for our Hen party. The Processco was flowing,the Porn Star Matinis were lush and the food...wow the food. Top that with brilliant hard working staff and it really is Pitch Perfect.

Popped in for full Welsh breakfast which really set me up for a day out &about in Cardiff. Luckily had a spare time before train home so returned to try the pork belly with crispy crackling that I'd noticed on the menu earlier on - I wasn't disappointed, the pork cut was gargantuan and cooked to perfection. The staff very pleasant on both occasions & the bar itself although not the largest is very cosy & a nice change from all the chain-bars around the city. DEFINITELY worth a look if you're in the area.

We spent a very very pleasant two hours over a late lunch with wine and drinks. The staff and food can't be complimented highly enough and the place itself was quirky and welcoming with great sounds being played. Try it you'll not regret it.

I came her with my girlfriend for a bite to eat. When we came in the staff were really friendly and happy to help. The inside of the restaurant was warm and cosy with lovely decor. We both went for the Pulled Pork Burger with house coleslaw and triple cooked chips and were both thrilled with our meal. The portions were generous and extremely well priced for the quality. We felt welcome throughout our stay and both wanted to come back. I’d highly recommend this restaurant!

We were wondering down Mill Lane in Cardiff when a lovely gentleman (I missed a his name) offered us a table and 2 cocktails for £10. We had never visited before so we thought we would pop in and have a look. We had the meat sharing platter and a maybe more than a few cocktails. The cocktails were lovely and served with a smile, the sharing platter was lovely especially the lamb. Would definitely visit again! Thanks all at Pitch

After watching the rugby in Cardiff, we went for some dinner. All 3 of us had burgers and they were so tasty. Definitely will go again!!

Disappointed in the treatment we had with our food was way noticeably smaller than others in the resteraunt. Probably because we had a groupon voucher! We had tiny pot of gravy and the smallest bit of veg. Also frozen Yorkshire’s. When you pay that price you at least expect homemade ones.

Paid in excess of £60 for afternoon tea with Prosecco. Arrived and the 6 of us were sat upstairs, lovely decor and a pleasant place to sit. Staff friendly however took ages to get our tea and drinks and had to remind them we had the Prosecco as they forgot. Food came, sandwiches were stale and the bite size cakes were definitely not freshly made as advertised, 100% shop bought!!!! One of our party has nut allergy and on the stand was cherry bakewell cakes which we had to advise were made with almonds! The staff member went to check and came back to say we were right, almonds In them.... we knew that !!! stand was taken away, apparently washed and bakewells removed! All in all pretty bad when they were advised on the booking..... never again, waste of money when you book for the “freshly made” cakes and sandwiches to arrive to stale sandwiches and shop bought cakes .... we can make better and fresher at home for fraction of cost !!!!
