Myself and my boyfriend visited for dinner today after looking for aaaages for a cafe to go to and we’re glad we found this one! At first I was a bit put off as the menu made it sound rather posh but I was pleasantly surprised with my bacon and goats cheese bagel which tasted amazing! The hot chocolates were delicious and well stirred (nothing worse than powder in the bottom!) and the cakes were lovely too - although I couldn’t taste the banana in my banana loaf but it was still a tasty cake anyway

We try hard to support independent businesses when we can, so eschewed Starbucks for this narrow little cafe near the station. Cakes looked good, but we opted for savouries. My sweet potato/hummus wrap was tasty and my Americano good. My husband's cappuccino was only so so. Free wifi, always a bonus, but lots of students taking advantage of this and taking up tables for long periods of time. The loo is quite unsavoury, in need of some tlc, new floor tiles and a deep clean.

I have enjoyed some of the best coffee at this cafe around and place has a grungy and characterful vibe. The cakes etc always look enticing. I visited the toilet on my most recent visit and I had a shock as the cubicle was truly disgusting and clearly had not been cleaned for days. Wallpaper was falling off the walls, the sink was foul and there was dirt everywhere on the floor and walls. Please please please staff and owner can you clean this toilet and spend some money on replacing basic facilities.

I came into this coffee shop in search of a new place to get a good cup of coffee. As I am dairy intolerant I drink soya which was fine, i asked if they have any flavoured syrups for the coffee which they didn't. I ordered a soya latte, when it came it looked more like a cappuccino than a latte but still. I asked for some sugar and they pointed to a bowl on the table containing brown sugar with a tiny spoon inside. I wasn't given my own teaspoon and was a bit skeptical about using the one in the pot so didn't use it. I also wasn't given a napkin for my drink, luckily i had tissues in my bag. The coffee didn't taste grest to be honest but that could be lack of sugar on my point, but i probably wouldn't return.

I have never written a review before, but after my awful experience I thought it would be wise to warn customers of this joke of a cafe. First I was met with a condescending barista who didn't look very interested in what I was saying. Secondly the avocado on toast came, the avocado was brown and it looked like they had just dumped a block of feta on top of it. The cappuccino was alright, but to be honest I have tasted better cappuccinos in other coffee shops in Newcastle. In conclusion, if you want better coffee and service try other coffee shops. I recommend Laneways or Flat Caps Coffee.

I revisited the place, and again found it consistently excellent. For my favorite, cold brewed coffee with tonic, they are using own-brand tonic from a big supermarket chain - they explained to me that they tried 20+ brands, including some very posh, and discovered that this one was produced the best effect. However, the key ingredient is coffee beans, and they source some expertly roasted of rare varieties. They take their coffee very seriously indeed.

Right opposite Central Station, the location couldn’t be bettered. It’s great if you have an hour to change trains and want somewhere nearby to meet a friend or just sit. You’re usually in the company of a fair few people working intently on their laptops - for this isn’t a noisy cafe (at least, not on the occasions I’ve stopped there). Indeed, it seems to foster an environment where you know you’ll be left alone if you want to get on with your own stuff. That said, the young staff are warm and friendly and love what they do. And the coffee is exceedingly good. So is the food which is simple but of high quality. Go to the loo and enjoy browsing the cut-and-pasted maps from all over the world that cover every inch of wall space. When you emerge, turn right up the narrow cut that is Pink Lane, cross two main roads and find yourself at a splendid section of Newcastle’s medieval town wall. Well worth the short walk before you go back to catch your train.

Just purchased a takeaway Latte, received the smallest cup ever after paying £2.60 half the size of other places??? After taking a few sips it was nearly gone so felt I'd overpaid as mostly froth ..... not good value for money. Expected higher expectations of the coffee but disappointed on taste and cost. There is an excellent bakery on Pink Lane that does takeaway coffee a lot cheaper and tastes no different (and you get a lot more!). Feel you are paying for the surroundings. we went here en route to train station which I think a lot of people do. It is without a doubt a more pleasant experience than going to a chain at the station so in that sense I would recommend it highly. We had coffee and toast. Like others said, the coffee is in quite small cups and believe me, I hate the "buckets" that a lot of chainstores serve, so I am not looking for mega-mugs. But for the price, maybe a small-ish mug rather than a tea cup would be welcome. After all, probably that just means some extra water or milk rather than extra coffee beans. The toast was great and came with very tasty jam. My main concern was that the tables were quite dirty. The shabby chic finish doesn't lend itself well to a gleaming finish, but it does instead mean that some hot water and elbow grease should be applied! The table was sticky and really quite gross. Just squirting some stuff and giving it a quick wipe with a damp cloth doesn't do it when the table is wooden and has a mat paint finish.

Great for a quick coffee/cake/snack and a meeting in a relaxed atmosphere near the station rather than choosing the standardised Starbucks and Costas.

This is the perfect place to work while waiting for a train. The coffee is really excellent - amazing range of beans and roasts - and the cakes are fresh and delicious. There is Wi-Fi and it is just over the road from Central Station

Another addition to Newcastle's rapidly expanding coffee culture. A sort of contemporary rugged interior however a very comforting ambience.

We called into this café on our way to The Great Northern Museum. We ordered two coffees at the counter, but when we came to pay, we were told that cash was not accepted. This is a practice that we find quite deplorable so we left. It turned out well for us, because there was a café a few doors down which was very good and accepts cash.

Usé este lugar un par de veces para el desayuno, ya que era central y el desayuno es barato como papas fritas y también bebidas recargables. personal amable y excelentes vistas

The food is always great value for money and tasty! The reason we keep coming back is the atmosphere and the staff are just so friendly

Had high hopes for brunch at Eve but was a bit disappointed. We were seated straight away by a friendly young man. Probably sat for about 15-20 minutes without anyone approaching us for our order. I managed to get the hosts attention and he took the order for us. Seemed like there was a lot of staff but most of them lingered round the bar area. Saying that, their uniforms were odd, some were dressed in jeans/tshirts/aprons but none of them co ordinated so not always easy to identify who worked there and who didn’t. Pancakes were £11, were quite a small portion so not enough to fill you up. The live music was good but I’m not really sure it suited the vibe.
