Pepe's Piri Piri in East Staffordshire

We use this place regularly for Take-out and have never had a bad meal - chicken always cooked well and very flavourful. Good portion sizes for the price too and never encountered a rude staff member. Delivery was an hour late the first time we ordered but was piping hot when it arrived - never been late since.

Criminal - literally. Placed a phone order, which they misunderstood (I asked them to listen to their own recording). The "assistant" became very rude, very quickly when I asked him politely to rectify the order. He blamed his collegue who took the telephone order (but had no one to blame for missing some of the drinks). Before leaving I asked him to double check the order however found that they had missed off a meal when I got home. I dragged myself back and walked in, smiled and greeted him politely - he responded to that quite rudely. I showed him the order and he explained, very rudely, that the meal had been missed off (again, not his fault but his colleagues). I mentioned I just wanted the missing meal, which his collegue went to prepare. He retorted, very rudely that I was a fussy f****** customer - I asked him if that was good customer service and was met with a barrage of abuse and expletives (haven't got time to write it all here) to the point at which I mirrored back to him what he was spitting out at me - which agitated him further. He proceeded to offer to take me out to the front or the back of the shop, or even behind the counter and would smash my f****** jaw in. He mentioned he finished his shift at 6pm and was ready to knock me the "f*** out" whilst menacingly smacking his right fist into his left palm ( i kid you not!!). He continued with his threats advising he knew me, my family and where we lived. At this point I asked for his name and his manager and no-one answered - including his two colleagues who were standing within 3 feet of him and watching this debacle. He reminded me that I was a "P***" and he hates "P*** C****" like me. I had to remind him to take a look in the mirror. I left after trying to reconcile as all in all, this got way too out of hand, over a stupid chicken order. His response to me was to rudely tell me to take my food, shut my mouth and f*** off. Whilst I initially would've left this, looking back at this, since he referred to me not knowing who his family were and what they were capable off, and that he knew who I was, my family was and where we lived, I have no choice but to highlight this criminally threatening behaviour. There was clearly a misundertanding on the phone order (which was recorded and I asked them to replay and listen to it again) - however, in NO WAY does this justify his behaviour. This is not the wild west and Burton is not downtown Brooklyn or Compton. In hindsight, this is unforgivable, not even bad customer service but criminal behaviour. By the way, the food didn't make up for it either, full chicken was quarter burnt, did not taste like lemon and herb and the XL burgers were absolutely dry. Only decent item was the Pepsi Max, but then again it wasn't made in that place. Honestly, if you read the reviews on this place, I would seriously urge you to avoid. Disgraceful service, ridiculously overpriced food, does a disservice to Pepe everywhere and terrible staff attitude. Avoid like the plague, the place needs shutting down and people like him need reminding that he is neither part of the Gambino family or the Costra Nostra. Reality check, you serve chicken in a takeaway and do a poor job at that.

They're fairly quick, the flavour has been pretty similar each time we've been. So far they're doing ok.
