Popped in for a bite to eat and ordered 2 x pasties and 2 x hot drinks, asking to sit in to eat at a cost of £24. Upon querying as to why the bill was so high, I was politely informed it was due to eating in, not taking away. They charge approx £5.95 for a large pasty to take out and about £9.50 per pasty to eat in so we were horrified! The hot drinks were OK but the pasties were very basic and not even tasty so we won't be going there again.

What a disappointment and rude staff member. The wife and I went in on Thursday 12th Sept. On entering we were told the internet in bude was down and it was cash only. Disappointed but still walked the half a mile and back to to the car to get cash as like to support local cornish businesses... and as the business advertised they are 'simply the best' we wanted to test the theory. On getting back we ordered a traditional steak pasties and a lamb and mint. Now was weren't told or given the option to eat or out. Having paid I asked for two plates to eat inside only to be told it was extra. Now baring in mind the shop is empty and probably 20 people had come in and left without buying anything in the short time we were they due to cash only, I asked the lady if wea could eat in without paying extra especially as I'd gone back to get cash and they fact they were losing hundreds of pounds an hour. The lady wanted to help but had to ask a youngish male who I believe was the duty manager. Well, what an arrogant, awful, narrow minded male he was. Didn't even look up at us and consider it would make business sense to have people sat in the restaurant for others to see. He was a simple no. If the owner of the actual business sees this. Please retrain your staff as that male is awful and not someone you want fronting your business. Now onto the food. The traditional steak was OK but nothing amazing. Pastry was a tad dry, more onion than steak and had better out of Cornwall. The lamb and mint was very under seasoned and lacked mint. I would go elsewhere.

The service in this shop can only be described as rude. Customers are required to queue by the entrance, next to which there is a drinks chiller. Whilst we queued a staff member pushed past us quite abruptly to restock the chiller. Three times during the time we were waiting she bumped into us with a wire basket full of drinks. The chiller wasn’t even getting empty! I think she was making a statement on purpose. The staff really do seem to resent their customers. When we were served a second staff member was quite surly and didn’t smile or welcome us. We went to this shop as we remembered the pasties were good but this time our steak pasty was almost all onion with just a small amount of steak mince. Not a patch on what we remembered from 2022.

I live 30 miles from Bude but am in the local area at least once a month. Never pass without buying a bag load of their magnificent pasties for family back home. However, the last 4 visits they have been out of most of the order. Today was the last straw, only 1 cheese and onion pastie left at 12.50pm with a 40 minute wait for more to cook. How is this possible on a Friday lunchtime in July when you only have 6 items on the menu? It's become a broken record now, same thing every time. Absolutely gutted but will not be back and will no longer recommend. I'll just wait till I'm close to Tintagle or St Ives.

Visited today. Pasty was edible, but was pretty bland with over thick pastry. Worse than the pasty was the service from the older woman at the counter, it was absolutely disgusting. She was rude and sarcastic, not to mention the eye rolls when I asked which pasties they had and whether they were large or medium. Not sure whether she reserves her bad attitude for 'emmets' or if the locals get it aswell. Either way, she should have a word with herself and get a serious attitude adjustment.

Horrific service. Went in yesterday and sat down for a meal. Ordered 2 pasties for just under £20. They said no salad today with the pasties but still had to charge full price. No apology. Asked if they did a tea for 2. They said no only pots for one. I said ok 2 pots for one. They brought the tea in one pot. And 2 cups. I asked do I have another pot coming. She said no as I asked for tea for 2 so she gave me a pot for 2!!! No explanation. Charged for 2 pots of tea anyway. Asked to use the loo and she said it’s at the end there. Door was locked so assumed someone was in there. Door was locked so, waited 5 mins and no one came out. Went back to the lady at the counter who’d been sat there looking fat me waiting, with no customers to serve ever since I asked here about the toilet and she said. ‘Yeah you need a key’. No intention of giving it to me. Eventually got in the loo. Then was asked by aunty to grab a few pasties for lunch the next day. Reluctantly I went in to by them. £16 for 3 pasties and My 5 year old daughter was desperate for the toilet. Asked if she could use it and another lady today said sorry we have no toilet. I replied, we used it yesterday. She said we have no public toilet. I said I just spent £16 and are customers not just public. She said we needed to walk to the other end of town and use the public loos. Be warned.

No hello, how can I help you etc. then she walked off after handing it to me to the back area, to ensure I could not ask her any questions. She finally came back out and I asked her to help me navigate the loose sheets (many not in English) and she would not. She was so rude and she upset my young children as well as me. When I saw it I realised it was too small for my husband and asked for a large. The assistant put it in a bag and then I asked for a medium cheese pasty, she managed to speak to tell me that they only did large so I said that would be fine. i paid and left. i obviously don't know if the assistant was having a bad day or week, but why put staff on the front line if they're not in the best mood. I vowed never to return because of the poor service. then to add insult to injury the pasties were dry and not what I would expect from a cornish pasty.

Reading the reviews we must have gone on a bad day, they were awful the pastry was hard and tasteless and the filling was just on the bottom and consisted of undercooked onions and what tasted like small amounts of boiled beef, needed a magnifying glass to find the potato and swede. After leaving a 2 star review some years ago, I decided to visit Pengenna again to see if things had improved. I bought a traditional steak pasty (as usual) and, remarkably, it was even worse than last time! What very little meat I could find, I wouldn't have fed to my dog - it was nothing more than fat and gristle. The rest of the pasty was packed full of potato - very little onion and no swede. Any attempt to season this bland offering would likely have been a lost cause but none had been made, regardless. Pengenna are exploiting the great tradition of the Cornish Pasty and serving up rubbish. If this is the best us Cornish can offer (and I KNOW it's not!), then we may as well open our doors to Greggs!

I hadn't tried Pengellas pasties before and to be honest I wont be buying from there again. The pastry was rock hard and so thick I could barely get through it and who the heck puts the crimping on the top??? Lets be honest, simply piling on the salt and pepper doesn't make a pasty tastier - it just makes it salty!! Nope - I wont be back as I prefer a proper pasty with proper meat and veg.

Even when I smiled she just glared back. (Now I’m writing I remember my daughter saying that one plus point of masks is you can poke your tongue out and no one sees, but I wouldn’t have done that anyway...). My husband had a medium steak pasty which he said was good. I had a vegetable one which was enormous - there was no option for medium, it was large or large. It was mainly potato with a few bits of courgette, and broad beans, sweet corn, carrot, peas. Sadly it lacked flavour (even for me who doesn’t like spicy or strong flavours). If I wanted to split hairs I’d say it wasn’t crimped the Cornish way... Anyway, I couldn’t finish it so my husband ate some. His verdict was the same. Neither of us finished it....

Twelve being the minimum amount that can be ordered by post.As promised, they arrived just before Noon. I was so excited when the van stopped outside my house. The pasties were all semi-frozen and all placed in special paper bags and very neatly packed on a type of iced bubble wrap. A sheet of cooking instructions was included. Two pasties were left out 'to try' (of course) and the others put away in the freezer for warming up in a few days time. The instructions state the pasties can be kept frozen for 28 days. Not a chance of that happening!I am absolutely delighted with Pengenna Pasties for their professional service and for letting us 'up country' folk sample the delights of Cornwall. They are 'top crimped' which is just as I like them to be.Pengenna have restaurants in Bude, Tintagel and St Ives.Julies telephone number is 01840-537720Thank you Julie.

Our first visit to Bude, my husband was so looking forward to his first ‘proper’ Cornish pasty, which he thoroughly enjoyed, it was such a shame as our experience was ruined by the shameful treatment of a young family who had quite obviously come in hungry out of the cold, they had bought food at the takeaway counter not realising there was a separate ‘eat in’ counter (this was not clear by any signage), the lady serving shouted rudely at them as they sat down at the first available table, “you can’t eat them in here”, totally unnecessary, they were visibly embarrassed and upset, they tried to rectify the situation but left without eating, thankfully the dad did express his disgust at their treatment but after he left the three women working talked loudly about the situation- totally embarrassing for everyone, I only wish I had walked out at the time - the staff clearly need customer service training as they let beautiful Bude down.

Visited on a cold rainy October day having read about the high quality pasties. We bustled in with two under 6 year olds and my wife ordered whilst I quickly grabbed a table. As she bought the pasties over one worker exclaimed that we could not eat them there as the tables were for eat-in which needed to be ordered at a different till. We immediately returned the pasties we had ordered and attempted to pay through the other till. However even then we found ourselves having to put up with comments like "You can't just eat takeaway anywhere you want to", before we eventually left having not eaten. It was our first (and only) time there, and the "two-till system" was absolutely not clear. At no point did we order takeaway, and we were not trying to fall foul of their systems. Even if we had been, the second we became aware we had not followed the system they had in place we immediately sought to remedy it. There was absolutely no need for the way we were spoken to. The Bakery which was less than 100m away did us a fabulous lunch at an excellent price, and all four of us were left very happy.

Veggie was jammed packed with perfectly seasoned and unusual veggies (don't often see courgette and broad beans in them) but the side salad was the usual dry leaves. Waitress was very short with one of our party who asked about the bag for the kids meal (no boxes which were advertised) and then we had to remind them about the drink to go with it. Shame. Nice garden, lots of tables, and dogs are allowed too which is nice. Odd town, a bit like a magic mushroom trip gone wrong at times and prepare to be cramped on the walk if you go an visit the ruins.

Many times have i visited this pasty shop and over the years it has really grown. To be honest i am not surprised as they are best pasties that I have ever had. If you are ever in the area then this is a must try.

The place is beyond slow : waited over half an hour for 3 pasties. The waiters are not fully awake and don’t really seem to be concerned about how poor the service is not know about what they are serving.

We had a lovely traditional steak pastie from here. Nice pastry, tender meat and vegetables, along with good flavours. Served very hot. You can eat inside, or there are a few tables outside. But we sat in the small park directly opposite. Great Venue! Love it!

As having a pasty in Cornwall is a must we decided to stop here. Pasty was very nice, medium was more than big enough. Children enjoyed watching them being made while waiting for ours to be brought over. Fillings were nice and not mushy like others suggested. Pastry was slightly hard but presumed they were spose to be this way! Staff were friendly and helpful.

Having read many of the reviews here, I can only think that some people are hard to please and would find fault with anything. These pasties are the best in Cornwall, and we've tried several different ones all over Cornwall.

First made to wait standing for several minutes although the waitress chose to wash up instead of seating us. Then we sat at dirty table which she chose to ignore and chose to clean all the empty dirty tables first instead!! Had to go up and order to get any attention, finally received the worst pasties. Rock Hard pastry, filling wishy washy, hardly any meat and just awful. The family were disappointed. We paid and left and I chose to exorcise the taste by trying a pasty from another pasty bar. It was tasty!! I had to order more!

I had a large meat pasty and it was disgusting. The worst thing is I had already bought more to take home. I had another one at home and it was equally disgusting. Meat really chewy and filling was very loose and watery.

We can not visit Bude without getting Cornish pasties and pengenna never fail to be tastey and filling. Highly recommend them and they have many flavour fillings to suit your taste.

My wife and I called in to this branch on Thursday 20th June. On selecting our seats we placed our orders. Our hot drinks arrived and we waited for some considerable time before our meals arrived, when they did arrive they were cold and it was only the pastry that was luke warm. I went to the till and quietly complained but the cashier just looked at me it appeared she didn't know what to say. Another young lady came over and took my payment but again no apology. I completed the online form and submitted my complaint to Pengennapasties but got no reply .I then sent in another complaint requestingmy money back but again no reply. I then submitted further emails of complaint still no reply. I then managed to speak to a very helpful lady from there Tintagel branch called Samantha, she listened to my complaint and said that she would inform her Boss who at the time was on holiday. Over a month later and still no response from the owner. One very dissatisfied customer Mr K Brown.

Well we had to try one and these were top notch. None of that mushy filling. Nice solid chunks of tender meat and veg. Coffee was very good also. Give them a try.

First I was served the wrong pasty and secondly both pasties had a very high pepper content - the steak and the steak and Stilton. I couldn’t eat mine as the pepperybtaste was burning my tongue.

Whilst in Cornwall you have to have a pasty so after reading reviews, we decided to give Pengenna a try. It was a good choice. Even though it was getting towards closing time, there was still some traditional pasties left which were still lovely, tasty, soft and warm. Recommended.

A recent visit to Bude was somewhat spoiled by the service in Pengenna Pasties. We were there with three friends who ordered their pasties before us. After a lengthy wait ours arrived,(not what was ordered) and we asked where the other order was for our friends, “oh it’s on the way”..... a further 10 minutes and the lad arrives back to say,” your order has been given to a takeaway customer who had just walked in, and I am sorry but we haven’t got anymore steak pasties.” It is very apparent the left hand doesn’t have a clue what the right is doing! Complimentary sausage roll and a cup of coffee and a refund for our friends. The ironic thing is they weren’t even busy. As a member of the Cornish pasty appreciation society I was embarrassed for taking my friends there. There will most certainly be no return visit and the word put on FB.

Ordered 4 pasties and drinks to eat in. I think 20mins wait is a little excessive and take away orders took priority so the hold up seemed to be the drinks. Quality of pasty was good although I have now found out that a top crimp is the Devon way not the Cornish!

We visited this pasty shop during the Easter holidays, when we were lucky with the weather and had a day on the beach. We ordered a selection of pasties for 10 people. Each pasty had its own paper bag, making it easier to eat them, because they were hot to handle. Everyone enjoyed them, and sitting on a beach eating hot pasties cannot be beaten. What a treat. Service was good in the shop. Next time we are in Bude we will return.

Beautiful building. Amanda the barmaid/waitress was very helpful and friendly. My family had the ham egg and chips, which was outstanding. I had fish and chips, the fish was delicious and fresh. The puddings were sinful and beautifully made.
