I took my mum here for an afternoon tea for her birthday! It was the best afternoon tea we’ve ever had and our server Cody was amazing, very helpful! Thank you Cody for some of the best service we’ve ever had! Someone give him a promotion!

We went for the all inclusive golf and dinner option. Dinner was the worst resort dinner i have ever experienced. Three mains to choose from braised beef and mash, pasta and a mushroom sauce and the smallest piece of fish with over cooked vegetables - we gave it back. Dessert had ice cream which was made from powder - we gave it back. The contents of the meals could not have cost more than £2.5 We asked to se the restaurant manager who was apparently busy but would come soon to see us , we finally left when he did not show up and though we left our room number for him to contact us we were never contacted. We managed to negotiate to skip dinner the second day in exchange for a burger and a sandwich. Hardly a great deal for us , but i would never try dinner there again. Overall a really poor place to go......

We had two dinners on consecutive days in the Pavilion Restaurant. The first was quite a lot better than expected - very tasty scallops as a starter & excellent fish & chips as the main. The second was much worse than we expected - tasteless broccoli & stilton soup & tough, chewy, gristly tasteless ribeye steak. A big disappointment. But the service was good & the student waitresses very friendly. Very noisy during the Covid restrictions.

We had a very enjoyable evening meal at the restaurant. It was part of a wowcher deal but we looked at both menus, fixed price and a la carte, and decided on the pork from the fixed price menu. We didn’t regret it! As we were celebrating my wife’s birthday it made for a very pleasant occasion. Rachel our server made it even more special with a few nice nice touches. Well done everyone!

Dinner was lovely. The staff were polite and friendly. We were able to choose our table, so we opted to sit in front of one of the large windows to enjoy the view. However, it meant one us had our back to the window. I moved my cutlery to the side so I was sitting next to my husband and I was able to appreciate the scenery. The meal was nice. The duck was tender and well seasoned. I enjoyed it. My husband opted for the sea bass. My only disappointment was the lack of drink list. There was a wine list only. We had to go to the bar to select our drinks. The waitress offered to do it for us and the bartender brought our drinks to the table. So I cannot complain about the service I received. My husband and I ate breakfast. There was a good selection, although you had to pay extra for some items. The food was spread out so there were no queues. I particularly liked the porridge made with cream. It was nice and rich. The scrambled eggs were not fluffy and it did not look appetising, so I gave it a miss. The pot of peppermint tea was lovely and hot. It looked cute on the table. I enjoyed all my meals and would recommend this restaurant for an evening meal.

We stayed for 2 nights on a pre-booked meal deal, it was a smaller menu because of the reduced price but this should still mean good food. What we got on the first night was rubbish, I mean real rubbish that no chef in there right mind would ever send out at any cost. The starter of cheese and potato croquettes where over cooked in the fryer so much that the outside was burnt and there was nothing left inside at all. then half a roast chicken that had been in the microwave so much it was like cardboard. The second night must of been a different chef, the presentation was better and the food at least not over cooked. but our expectation now was so low that anything could have been better. If there have a chef that does not check and does not care then the customers will not care to come back SIMPLE Service was hit and miss two staff really good and the other need training

We enjoyed both our meals but don’t think that it was of a 2 AA Rosette standard which puzzled us given the award was for 2018? Breakfast was a little disorganised In that the buffet wasn’t replenished quickly enough and arrived sporadically - tended to get cold very quickly. Could be so much better by investing in some chafing dishes and hot plates.

Arrival was brilliant, seen to table offered drinks and bread. It went down hill from there. We didn't have a deal and ordered off the a la carte menu which wasn't a problem however the choice was very limited. The food that did arrive was presented well but an average meal. The service was terrible, slow, difficult to get hold of staff, wrong menus given then taking ages to get them to change it. Desserts ordered and never arrived. It appeared they took it and hadn't put it through after another long wait we decided we had to cancel as we had a small baby. We then requested them to cancel the desserts and send us the bill. We eventually got the bill and was told the desserts are now ready and we could have them. We said no, paid and went on our way. Overall not value for money. We don't mind paying high prices but we expect the quality of food and service to be at the same high level which it wasn't. I would advise others to avoid.

Myself and my other half had dinner in the hotel restaurant as we were staying there. I found it exceedingly difficult at first to find a menu on the website. The restaurant is advertised as luxury dining with prices too boot. Little about our experience was luxurious in the restaurant I'm sorry to say. The restaurant itself is like being in a conference room. We both ordered starters and opted for steak for mains. My steak was extremely over cooked against how I'd asked for it. I decided to request a new one as I believe if pay up market prices you should receive quality service and food. The second steak never arrived. Needless to say my partner didn't enjoy the experience of eating alone whilst I had no food. As a result only a couple of mouthfuls were eaten! They still tried charging us for the steaks with no offer complimentary drinks / food. Sad, as the hotel itself is wonderful! I certainly would not go back or recommend.

My husband won a prize in the Raystede Animal Rescue raffle - dinner for two in the Pavillion Restaurant, East Sussex National Golf Club. We were delighted to have won, but a hotel restaurant would not normally be our first dining choice. However, it was a delight from start to finish. We, and friends, have won prize meals before and have sometimes not be treated as well as paying guests. Not so here. Presented lovely prize voucher, and were offered both set menu and a la carte (at a supplement). Nicoleta, our 'wait person' was very charming, showing us to a window table. Menus and wine list left, lovely little rolls and water delivered. We selected from the set menu. There were some large groups seated, golfers I assume, and quite a few twos and fours, but we didn't wait long for our starter - very nice thick ham hock, picalilli and leaves. I had goats cheese and red pepper pithivier, fennel purée, new potatoes, and hubby had chicken with a mushroom sauce, followed by cheese. My pud was a lovely lemon rum baba - hadn't had one for years - with raspberries. Yum yum.The wine, whilst not expensive, was very nice too. We will definitely return. The whole experience was lovely from start to finish. Well done to all.

We had dinner on a Monday evening. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet with most tables empty. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The food was interesting, imaginative, high standard and very well presented. There were however a couple of issues. We asked for some bread with our first courses and it took a long time to arrive. In fact, I had finished my first course before the giant platter of bread and olives arrived. Most restaurants offer bread before the first courses arrive, not as the first courses are being finished. There was a similar issue with the vegetables ordered to accompany the main courses. These arrived when we were almost halfway through eating the main courses. However, overall it was an excellent meal. Almost £100 for two was perhaps a little expensive, especially as we only had one glass of wine each.

Lovely view across the golf course from our table even saw deer running outside the window which did put me off ordering the venison but at least you an't get much more locally sourced meat than that!!! A dress code could be imposed as the other diners did not make an effort to dress for lunch which spoilt the otherwise beatiful surrounding. My husband and I stayed at the East Sussex National Hotel and had dinner here. It is a Rosette restaurant not sure if 1 or 2). We were met by the door and taken to our seats. Offered water but remember, you will get charged for the water (Sparkling or Still) so do stipulate if you prefer tap water). Our meal was fantastic and there was a marked difference between this restaurant and other 4 star restaurants we have visited in the past few years that weren't that good (we both worked in 4 star and 5 star hotels so know a bit of the service to expect - which unfortunately does make us a bit critical but I do try and be fair). The table was at the window, candle lit with a red rose. We had lovely salted and unsalted butter with warm a warm roll. My husband had chicken liver and foie groie terrine with a rhubarb chutney and melba toast. I had pumpkin soup with crème freishe. We both had Confit duck on red cabbage, spinach leaves, creamy mash and jus and then Chocolate tart with zesty orange custard. It was absolutely lovely. I would highly recommend it.
