Pausa in Wakefield

We received a warm and friendly welcome at this little cafe on the first floor of Dunelm Wakefield. It’s light and airy with basic but clean and comfortable seating. A good selection of goodies; cakes, scones, sweet pies and tray bakes, light lunches and sandwiches are served daily. We had a very nice decaf latte and some ginger dippers which are a must try to dunk in your coffee or tea. We’ll try some food next time because it looked very nice especially the thick slices of traditional apple pie and lemon meringue pie.

I visit Pausa Cafe regularly because I love their coffee, the staff are friendly and it’s generally a good atmosphere. Today however was a complete let down, I thought I would treat myself to a piece of lemon meringue pie to go with my drink. I looked at the pie in disbelief and said to the assistant you must be joking, the piece was half the size it used to be for the same price. I was appalled and did manage to take a picture of it before saying i am not paying for that. What a let down, I think like me the majority of customers that frequent the cafe are seniors that doesn’t mean to say we can be ripped off, I suggest someone needs to review the portion sizes otherwise they may lose customers.

Dire customer service, girl behind the till unfriendly, impatient, and sighing. Put a complaint in. Will not go again.

Wonderful staff so helpful and cheerful, nothing too much trouble, have been going there twice a week for a few years , best coffee in wakefield and the cakes are delicious

The food is good and great value. Just one complaint. You can get all food nutritional value online apart from one thing. CARBOHYDRATE VALUE. As a long term diabetic and many thousands like me I sorry We are so frustrated that carbohydrate values are never included. Please be a first and include them.

First visit and last I ordered jacket potato with tuna melt. What came was a semi warm dried up potato with mush that was representing tuna. But the most bazar thing was the melted cheese. It was I think cheese sauce the type you make from granules. The hole meal was discusting . Will not be eating there again. Would not recommend

Shopping instore so we called in for a coffee, perhaps coffee is too strong a word for what we received, I ordered two flat whites and neither of them tasted of coffee, they were horrible, if you are going to charge Costa prices then make sure that your product is Costa quality because a cup of instant is preferable to what we were served.

Delighted that the cafe is open again and lovely to talk to the friendly staff after so long. After using the hand gel, we were shown to one of the well spaced out tables, filled out the track and trace on our phone, and then queued for our customary cappuccinos and a shared cheese scone. Spent more money in the store (as we always do in Dunelm) including the purchase of a lovely children’s cot bed duvet cover - only sorry that the duvets themselves seemed rather expensive at £20. Will sadly be buying a supermarket one at less than half the price.

Ordered a milk shake, tea and a coffee plus a piece of chocolate cake. Tea and coffee ok, milk shake not the best and the cake was very dry. Staff polite but could do with smiling.
