I was my boyfriends plus one for his birthday voucher , we was looking forward to our special treat today . As soon as we got there we noticed straight away that a lot of tables had not been cleared .we found a seat and gave our drinks order , we waited 30 mins before the waitress came back over to us to ask if we had ordered , to which we replied were waiting for our drinks still ( we would have left if it wasn’t for they had our voucher and we needed to use it ) The two girls were rude and lazy in my opinion as the coffees were just not being done at all quickly and the other girl kept disappearing out back walking past all the dirty tables without attempting to clear them. One of the girls made an announcement to the whole place saying she was doing her best but they were under staffed but as far as I could see they were not organised or trying to serve people as I felt we were interrupting their chatting, we did not have more than one drink each . I went to the toilet and I don’t know how they can sign off it was clean as there was toilet roll all over the floor and was filthy . A red haired young man came in to start work and he turned it around getting drinks out much quicker and was far more productive. The food was nice and once we received it after 45 mins it was good but will not be buying a voucher for anyone else . Shame

Had a great afternoon tea here, a real treat. I was surprised by some of the negative reviews, as we had a lovely time. Started with a friendly welcome from Razika and being seated straight away . Daniel took our order, and checked if we had any allergies. As we were having afternoon tea, the tea quite rightly came first, piping hot and with the lemon we had requested instead of milk. Then the stand, with a smoked salmon toast, finger sandwiches soft and tasty, 2 scones each with jam and cream , 2 delightful sponge cakes each and a macaron. We had another tea each and then a coffee, service was attentive but not intrusive. Even the toilet was lovely and clean. Then finally when we came to settle up Sarah explained that the additional teas and coffees are included as bottomless drinks in the price. Wonderful!

Had cream scones & Tea on Groupon voucher..With the voucher I have rated it a 5* without the voucher I feel it might be a little too expensive for what it is. The waiter and waitress who served us were very friendly and very helpful. We went at a busy time and were told there was a little wait but the scones were lovely a very good experience overall.

One of the worst places we’ve been for breakfast. I had avocado, which was brown, tomatoes on toast with a poached egg and rocket. Rocket needed throwing away as soggy and old. Chef couldn’t cook a poached egg - watery and in bits. Tiny portion. Daughter ordered Salmon bagel, was hard and stale, little salmon and a scraping of cream cheese. Waited so long for coffees and food. Won’t be going back. They offered 10% off - as if they knew it was bad as didn’t question it. However staff were friendly and lovely so not their fault. Only the food was a let down.

I took my step mum for afternoon tea for her 60th birthday and we had the most fantastic time! It was delicious and quirky and we all had a wonderful afternoon out! I couldn’t recommend the afternoon tea enough. Not the mention the amazing service - the lady’s name escapes me now but she made us giggle through the whole afternoon!

We bought two cakes from here yesterday. They had nothing gluten free or vegan which is very surprising in this day and age. The cheese cake we bought was really great, the carrot cake however was very dry and could almost have been more than week old. Im big on carrot cake because its one of my favourite and this definitely was not that great.

Didn’t actually get inside. Website said this was open, 9.05 am. It wasn’t. Waited until 9.15, still wasn’t. If a shop wants to do business surely it should open on time.

A lovely afternoon tea with our Buy a Gift voucher with our friends, who were celebrating their parents 56th Wedding Anniversary. When we arrived was very busy and tables were put together to accommodate the six of us. The food was fresh, the scones still warm and delicate cakes. Unlimited drinks too. Charlie and her team (only 3 on that day) did their best being short staffed at keeping everyone happy and were calm and brilliant st attending to our needs, they all worked their socks off including the diligent kitchen staff. Thank you, we will be back.

Shocking customer service at the Canterbury location, must be the rudest person in the catering industry I have ever come across - not just to me but to every customer. We sat outside at one of the 6/8 tables and everyone was commenting on her rudeness. We had a buy a gift voucher for cream tea and I was asked to stand to the side whilst she dealt with other customers in the queue, yes they were busy but I had waited patiently in-line until it was my turn to be served. Then when she did serve me complained about having to put different codes in, not my problem the voucher was paid for and the codes must be a company thing. The scones when they did arrive were ok, certainly not large, and the tea pot was just about big enough for 1 drink each! Our first visit to a Pasterie Valerie cafe and based on today’s experience will be our last!

From the outset staff greeted with friendly smile with willingness to help. I had heated cheese and ham croissant, tasted pleasant enough. Unfortunately I lettuce not fresh. American coffee presented well. Let down was the stale smell on table and armchair. Toilet not used. Overall this is a pleasant restaurant and staff are pleasant. Mainly young people who created a pleasant vibe. Will visit another branch to compare. The option for this review was average or very good, I would have liked to choose 'good' just for the initial service.

Came here for 1st time as we had a gift card for afternoon tea for 2 . Very lovely friendly staff . Drinks straight away . The cakes and sandwiches came out fairly quickly, looked lovely and tasted the same . Scones were lovely and fresh and still warm .cakes were very spongy and delicious. Although it seemed they had a lot of staff, the staff seemed to be really confused on what to do/who ordered what and why there was such long delays for food (table near to us waited 50 minutes for a breakfast which then turned up cold and they was offered "a small discount"). We arrived and there was people all standing around waiting to be seated or for bills/food. Finally told to take a seat and then waited around 10 minutes for someone to come over to take our drink order. They did advice it was a long wait for food (around 45 minutes) which we was fine with though then noticed only 6 tables in the restaurant were occupied with 4 front of house staff and 3 kitchen staff. It was entertaining to watch and listen the chaos of people placing orders, and other staff members taking stuff to wrong tables, wrong orders or simply orders going missing or reasons on why long delays (apparently a lot of people ordering afternoon tea which some worked out would take around 5-10 minutes max to prepare and could easily do in batches) Between us the diners had a good laugh about the service so at least that was something. Team were mostly friendly but seriously lacking management showed (least we saw no management or anyone organising anything). In fairness - the cakes are amazing but prices are pushing how much you would appreciate a slice of cake.

We have been here many times using gift vouchers and it was always very good . This time we were totally taken back, we sat at out table for quite awhile before we were attended to. We had a voucher for lunch time but the menu was very restricted. Having ordered out meal and drinks we were told there was 30 minute wait which considering they were not busy we could not understand. Staff came over and tried to give us someone else’s drink and then food as well. When our food etc finally arrived it was cold and tasted off. The manager kept telling staff off in front of customers which was off.

The food was great, but service was lacking considerably. I am lead to believe this was due to staffing issues and some customers were getting fractious. Customers were being notified that all drinks & food orders had about an hours wait. The staff stayed rather calm in difficult circumstances. Working in the service industry we appreciate the difficulties faced by the staff, but also understand the frustrations of the customers who ended up waiting longer than an hour in some circumstances. We ended up settling our bill and taking our cake slices away.

Waited 40 minutes for a hot chocolate and coffee. The lack of staff is not an excuse, almost no customer service, kitchen staff are handling food with their bare hands and on their mobiles. Staff did not apologise for the long wait.
