Passey's Portobello in Mendip

Good afternoon , just want to give some feedback to our disappointing visit to Passeys today . We booked for breakfast and everyone in our group agreed that half the breakfast was cold or warm at the best . One breakfast had a hair in it also . This is not good at all for the premium price charged . We have been several times before as a group of six or less with no problems. I wanted to discuss with the lady serving but one of our group did not want to cause a scene so we just paid and left . This used to be our go to place on Sunday morning . It’s the most expensive breakfast in Portobello, and the quality of food does not now justify the price . We won’t be back .

Had lunch and a glass of wine here on Saturday at lunchtime. Food was very nice and flavoursome. Lovely decor. Great service. Great value. Recommended.

Ho ordinato un sandwich con pollo che non sono riuscita a finire nonostante l’appetito. Ambiente non particolarmente curato, personale totalmente indifferente. Non ci tornerei!

I visited here with my wife and friends whilst in Edinburgh, it's a cute relaxed cafe bar with super friendy staff, they serve an awesome Sunday lunch, have a nice selection of cocktails and wine. The food was awesome and in a super relaxing welcome environment,I would visit here again and recommend it to friends and family

This was such a great place to eat with homemade food. Setting was great and well decorated which added to a great atmosphere. Highly recommend this place and the owner Nick was so friendly and chatty.

Food was unremarkable. A bit bland. Ambiance was ruined by the manager or owner loudly arguing with a customer to the point where I struggled to hear my friend sat opposite to me.

My husband and I were at passeys for tea last Saturday, again another lovely meal I had macaroni with crispy bacon and my husband had the fish. Staff very friendly and observant about everyone's needs. The restruant was busy lovely atmosphere. 2 minutes walk from our flat, what more could you ask for.

My wife and I popped in for a bit of late lunch after noticing that they do a boozy brunch deal of 2 mains and a bottle of wine for £35. My wife had the chicken and bacon open sandwich and I had the fish and chips accompanied by a lovely bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. Both dishes were excellent and very tasty and the portion size was not too shabby. The server was very attentive, professional and knew her stuff. The deal was excellent value and this little place is charming and I highly recommend a visit if you are in the area.

Just been to passeys with my husband for breakfast. It was lovely as it always is, staff are lovely and friendly and very efficient. Can't wait for the summer to sit outside with a glass of wine. Thanks again guys.

We ordered two "small" Scottish breakfasts, but they weren't actually small at all! More than enough food. I asked to swap the black pudding on my one with a potato scone, best cooked tattie scone I've had in years! Oat milk latte was DELICIOUS too. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming, decor was lovely, and we were given a table at the window which was nice! Couldn't recommend Passey's enough. Lunch menu looks amazing, will definitely be back to try it.

What a great find. My partner and I stumbled across this place when on a visit to portobello. We were made to feel very welcome from the start by Alanna. We had a lovely bottle of red and I had the Passeys wagyu burger with home made burger sauce, delicious onion rings and wedges. Delicious! My partner had the most delicious steak cooked perfectly with rosemary which gave a subtle but delicious flavour. We then had biscoff cheesecake and a chocolate and orange torte which was so delicious! What a great place! A big shout out to Alanna and thanks to chef in the kitchen and his amazing dog barking talent as well as creating great food 😊

What a treat! Enjoyed a delicious meal with family at this local gem. Service, staff and food second to none. Treated brilliantly from start to finish and our dog loved his treat too! Highly recommended.

Had dinner here one night, offer on 2 steaks and wine. Steaks were tremendous, both of us had clean plates. I also had the nachos as a starter and they were genuinely the best nachos Iv ever had, after saying this to the server I was told they are homemade. They were out of this world. Customer service was 10 out of 10, waitress could not have been nicer or dine any more for us. Was a very down to earth person. We will happily return here again one night soon.

Passey’s provided a wonderful experience from start to finish for our private event. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the ambience of the dining room was just perfect for our party of 20+ people. If good food and a warm and personable touch is what you’re looking, I highly recommend Passey’s. N.B. Drinks were great too; they do a mean Espresso Martini.

I was excited to try Passeys as I’m vegan and was told that they catered to vegans well. I ordered the ‘vegan steak’ and after a little while a member of staff came to tell me that the ‘vegan steak’ wasn’t vegan and contained eggs. While I appreciate the honesty of staff telling me this I feel that there could be instances where people haven’t been informed of this and if anyone is vegan it’s maybe best to double check anything listed as vegan while eating here just to be on the safe side. My partner who I was eating with found a hair on his wedges as well and due to both of these reasons I didn’t enjoy my experience as much as I would have liked to. The decor was nice and the staff were very nice but unfortunately I have to rate it poorly due to the mislabelling on the menu. If this could be rectified and the menu listing was changed I would really appreciate it.

Lovely Food can tell it's all made with care and Love. Staff are very friendly Very accomodating for my Vegan Partner and helped us finding something that would suit the dietary needs. 10/10 would come again.

I made my first visit to this relatively new cafe in Portobello High Street Edinburgh. We enjoyed hearty breakfasts in very comfortable and pleasant surroundings. The service was excellent. However our pleasure was diminished by very poor quality coffee.
