Passage to India in Gosport

My partner and I ordered a delivery takeaway from here 17th December 2023 (for my birthday) ordered through their website and an hour and a half later still no food so we phoned them and a guy answered and told us they were permanently closed. We didn't get a refund either so would highly recommend avoiding this place

Have to say this meal was a little bit samey. . Nothing too different or exciting. But very pleasant ad was the service.

This has only just become a licensed premises and the staff are trying hard to make this work, it doesn't get the credit it deserves. The food is lovely and the staff are friendly and there is a good selection of wine and alcoholic beverages.

Just had our second takeaway from here. The food was excellent, and they were happy to add a sweet that isn't on the takeaway menu. The guys were very friendly and professional, and the food was ready for collection on time. A couple of months ago we had a sit down meal, and then too everything was very good. This is now our regular Indian food supplier.

Got a takeaway yesterday just befor they shut I am surprised they took my order and the guy in the phone was really polite .. i have to say was the best I had in a while the meat and curry was cooked to perfection it was delicious thank you I will be back

I'll start with the good. Considering it was a Saturday night, the food arrived really quick. The garlic rice was spot on, really well cooked garlic and plenty of it. Packed full of flavour, fluffy and fragrant. The chips, we'll fries again where good, but you can't really mess them up. As for the rest..........its a no from me. I was disapoimted before we even dished up. You know when you open the bag, and a cheeky little bit of poppadom falls out and you quickly garb it before anyone else see? It's a joy, a pleasure........normally. But when that poppadom has about as much crunch as a soggy digestive at the bottom of a cuppa tea, I can tell you it's not as joyful at all. Yes all 12 poppadoms where stale, soft and some even burnt. The chicken in each dish was over cooked, under seasoned and chewy. The pakoras where nothing more than breaded chunks of chicken, no spice, no flavour and again so over cooked the coating wasn't even attched to the chicken. As for the keema naan well what can I say. Chewy, doughy, again no flavour, not even the meat inside tasted of anything!! All in all the food was very disappointing. Will say the guy who answered the phone was very polite and really helpful. Did it fill a hole yes. Would I order again, 100% no.

Very easy 5* Really good friendly service, they did not have a curry on the menu that I usually eat, but were very happy to cook it for me (Chicken Pathia). Was probably the best I've ever had. Amazing naan bread, with lots of those big slightly crispy bubbles all over the bread. Really generous portions, but was so good every plate was clean by the end!! Beer was nice and cold. If I lived in Gosport I would be here every week. Cannot find fault, amazing! Thank you!

This was our first visit to Passage to India, and we were not disappointed. The starters were extremely fresh with plenty of herbs and spices. The main meal was delicious and very filling, and the nan’s again were freshly cooked. The restaurant itself was spotlessly clean. Will definitely eat here again.

Really great meal and friendly service. First time of trying here so went with our favourite starters as a test - lamb chops (excellent, especially the fried onions with it) and prawn on puree (as good as I have had anywhere). Main meals were Baltic (mine was the Mishti which I highly recommend if you like Pathias). Over the road was full and a long wait for a takeaway - thank goodness we tried this place, we will definitely be back…

Excellent food and service. Our food arrived very quickly and was really tasty. I am not keen on heat but I love spice and that is exactly what I got. Needless to say, this is now our 'go to' for takeaway.

I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing quality of this restaurant. They clearly take pride in the the preparation and presentation of their dishes. I enjoyed the chicken tikka aloo paneer which perfectly combined my favourite flavours and ingredients. Not many places incorporate paneer into dishes, but this place did just that! It was beautiful! We were in Gosport finishing some work late last night and at 10pm started looking for a place to have some dinner before the long drive home. We saw the Passage of India sign still saying OPEN and I went in to ask if they are still open to dine-in. A member of staff had his jacket on and it looked like he was on his way out as the restaurant was empty, but he said of course we can come and have some dinner! We have never been there before and later we found out the place has only been opened since December 2022, but we were very pleasantly surprised with everything - very friendly and accommodating staff, clean, bright and fresh interior, generous portions and absolutely delicious food! I am vegetarian and I had plenty of choice too, plus the vegetarian dishes were easy to find in the menu. This is now our "place-to-go-to" for food when in Gosport for business. I am sure this new restaurant will be a great success from what we have seen last night! Good luck!

Fantastic! This was my first visit since the Passage to India took over what was previously the Spice Lounge. I was apprehensive as I loved the Spice Lounge, but I have to say the food and service is even better under the new ownership. Really friendly and welcoming owner, delicious food, well presented, very generous portions, and a reasonable price. Very good range of vegetarian options which were clearly labelled. The restaurant has had a small refurb and looks bright and fresh. I will definitely be back in the new year. Thank you very much :)
