Had a takeaway for dinner and it was pretty good. Just as well as there is almost zero competition (not only Indian but any delivery takeaway) anywhere in Whitby! Had a good dhansak and some nice naans. Overall, a nice meal.

We ordered two biryanis to take away, one vegetable and one deshi which was supposed to contain chicken lamb and prawns. Both were tasteless with little evidence of vegetables or any of the delights promised in the deshi. Very disappointing.

Hadn’t booked but table available -cash only payment. Ordered popadoms/pickle tray, onion bhajis, chicken tikka, lamb rogan josh, chicken curry, Nan, and rice. Didn’t wait long for food and it was all delicious. Attentive staff. Would recommend.

I was a bit wary how our meal would be after reading reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant interior wasn’t that welcoming or cosy, it felt a bit rough and scruffy. But the food we had was lovely. Set meal for 2, was £44. This was any 2 starters, 2 mains. One rice, one naan and one side. Very good value for money. The food was all very tasty and we’d definitely using again. Staff were friendly and there seemed a lot of them.

Five of us visited on a 30th birthday weekend end The birthday boy booked it as his favourite vegan restaurant in Whitby . The reviews in May were very poor but when of the best Asian meals I’ve ever had

The food was lovely and Maisha was fab. I had chicken tikka massala and murgh massla - both were delicious. The chicken pakora was one of the best I’ve ever had. The reviews nearly put us off, but i’m glad we went anyway! Out of 6 of us (including one vegan) we were all very happy with our food. One piece of constructive criticism for the chef - it would be nice to have a vegan option for a starter (other than the poppadoms which were great).

We ordered a curry whilst on holiday this weekend. We had the set meal for 4 people which is really good value for money. Plenty to eat and more. Father in law said it was one of the best curries he’d ever tasted (and he’s fussy) we all enjoyed it, very tasty and arrived hot. We all said that we’d order again next time we come to Whitby.

Decent food at kind of standard prices. Not many places open when we were in town so ordered a takeaway. Having ordered, we were told it would be 20mins. Walked to carpark on harbour and parked right outside after 20 minutes and then drove to holiday accommodation and food was still hot when we opened it. Would use again.

We were staying on holiday on Whitby and ordered a takeaway from here. The gentleman on the phone was lovely and they delivered within the hour, which for a Friday night we thought was very reasonable. The curries were delicious and hot on arrival. We would definitely order again if we come on holiday to Whitby in future.

A takeaway while staying in Whitby , we love our curries and this was delicious , piping hot and mighty tasty - we had chicken jalfrezi (hot) tender chicken and jumbo prawns - sag side dish was one of the best I’ve had. Thankyou for serving when most take out places were still closed .

Hit or miss sadly, was our go to place for Indian but tonight sadly no more! I haven’t got many words to explain the disaster but the food was honestly horrible not like normal! Missed an item off our order and charged us extra, really really disappointed! :( And so expensive!! near enough £30 for an order we will have to throw away.

We have eaten here and had takeaways over the years and the food has always been great. We are a family of vegetarians, vegans and omni so there are a lot of tastes to cater for! Decided to treat ourselves to a takeaway for wedding anniversary. Ordered two house specials. Meat was tough and the king prawns like rubber. So dissapinted as we usually have a good meal from here.

We rang to book a table but didn't really need to as it was a quiet night in Whitby. Menu was good, service good, food was lovely. Had a mixed starter for two and two mains. Was really nice. Would go again.

Had the first Indian meal since before lockdown and wish I hadn’t. Very expensive for the portion size and both the chicken Rogan josh and tikka masala were tasteless And barely warm. I must say that it was the worst Indian meal I have ever had!

Ate in here last September and thought the food was nice, eaten here tonight with my wife and both ordered different dishes and both thought were flavourless, I ordered a Vindaloo and was a Balti heat at best, I don't do a lot of reviews but I'm sorry I was really disappointed,I've had hotter supermarket curries. also the main man was walking around most of the night around the restaurant with his mask under his chin, also many customers going into the restaurant without madks and to the toilet too without staff confronting them,shan't come back again.

We dined at this restaurant last week ( 6th October ) . It is a while since we have had an Indian meal so we were both very much looking forward to it .During the meal it was very apparent that a guy ta the back of the restaurant was coughing , not just once or twice but a constant cough .We finished our meal and thought we would mention it to the staff.We addressed the issue whilst paying the bill and you could still hear the man coughing. The staff stated they had not heard it . Whilst having this conversation a couple were sat at the front finishing off a bottle of wine , they heard our conversation and stated that they had moved out of the restaurant due to this issue and that they had also informed a member of staff , they also said they had had Covid and is sounded like the same cough . The manager was involved in this conversation and also the member of staff who the couple had told and they had done nothing about it . I was amazed at the manager attitude he was not prepared to sort the issue , eventually after much pushing he said he would have a word with the male and suggest that he went for a test ! Not really the answer I was looking for he then became pathetic and said he would close his business because he had enough . We then left , it totally spoilt the evening . I do not want anybody to shut down but perhaps for the safety of all the other customers he could of asked this male to leave as he had had a few complaints . The food by the way was excellent .

Saturday night, so fairly busy. Shocking service - No eye contact or word spoken at all.%Hot starters served stone cold. Poor main course, some wrong dishes, side dishes missing. Table was filthy. Waiter did a double-take when asked to clean it!All in all, probably the worst Indian restaurant I have ever been to in over 30 years.

Odd! Food easy to order and came in about 40 minutes delivered to the door so all efficient although couldn't pay over the phone so cash only.The Balti and Biriyani were both "sweet" to the taste not what you would expect or indeed have ever had, and for that reason alone left us underwhelmed. The byriani itself was also on the dry side so maybe had been cooked prior and then rewarmed.It wasn't enough to stop us tucking in, just not the traditional taste you associate.

Possibly one of the worst Indian meals we’ve ever had. The food was bland, flavourless and cold. Served on cold plates. All our chicken dishes seemed to contain ‘bookers’ style meat. Definitely wasn’t tikka meat. Felt quite poorly immediately after eating and for much of the next day. Food was way too oily.

Not the greatest pickle tray, my main course was very good but my wifes was not so great. Service was good but as a whole it's no better than average.

The food was lovely, can’t fault it! The front of house staff we found were not friendly, didn’t know what was happening as we were told anything. A girl dropped a glass whilst the rest of the staff just watched and stood in her way. Working in a restaurant ourselves we found it hard to watch. The gentleman who brought our food, was really nice & friendly! A few files flying around which was annoying.

Very disappointed the food was cold, bland and the service was like faulty towers and the staff were very unprofessional, in our opinion avoiding this restaurant will save you spoiling a great time in whitby,

Ate here as a family during our week’s holiday, and was not disappointed. We all had different dishes and everyone was pleased with their choices. Service was excellent. Decor is simplistic, tasteful and clean. So good we even got takeaway From there a few days later... that was also excellent!

My husband and I visited the restaurant food and service was excellent apart for one member of the restaurant staff who wore is face mask wrong though out are visiting was under is nose though out are vist

Anniversary meal for us in Whitby. We had a lovely meal last night and the service was great too. The only reason I didn’t give it excellent was some of the chicken seemed a bit dry in some of the dishes. I even tried some new dishes which I normally stick to what I know but I wasn’t disappointed. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Was also unsure why they aren’t doing the government eat out incentive. Surely they would only benefit from this? Thank you for a lovely night however.

Superb take away delivered to our camp site outside of Whitby this eve, the garlic chilli chicken was the best curry I've had in a long time. Great service and value for money. Highly recommend it.

They were not aware it was a birthday meal, but we found everything as good as the visit in 2019 ( we were on holiday in the area again). Felt very safe and the staff were all very good. Service, food and table setting all first class. I just think it is time they up the toilets, the lock did not seem to work and there is only one gents loo with a flush toilet. This is a big place and often guests have to queue. I am sure given the space they have something could be done. We will of course visit again when in the area.

We visited here to celebrate my birthday with my husband and two others, everytime we come to whitby we always come here and have never been disappointed. Food was absolutely gorgeous, with us all having different meals we could not fault it. Staff were very helpful and pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. Can't waited for our next trip to whitby as we will definitely come back for another meal here

Nice friendly staff very helpful, insight into allergies which was great. Meals Garlic chicken tikka and king prawn curry both were very tasty and quick service, well worth the money keep up the work as we will be going back on our next visit to whitby

From reading some of the reviews my expectations were quite low, but proven completely wrong! Service was absolutely fine. Our table was fine and there was a buzzing atmosphere.Of course it's all about the food - I had a strange lamb starter, in pancakes with a tamarind sauce - very nice. The rest had onion bharji - which looked great. We all had different main courses and they were superb - not like some places where everything looks the same, these all looked and tasted very different. Great rice and naans too - one of the best keema naans I have ever had.Lots of food, none of us finished ours. Can't give it five as I have eaten in some excellent Indians in the past, but food wise, this was really good. Definitely recommend it if you fancy a change from fish and chips!

If you want to eat out at an Indian Restaurant, you can't get better than this. The food and service were first class and the staff delightful. Highly recommended. Definitely visit again. Thank you

The staff were very attentive and food was brought out at good intervals and was nice and hot. Not the best Indian food I’ve ever had but still nice. I would visit again. All staff were wearing masks which was reassuring and we were asked to sanitise before entering. One concern was a waiter was wearing gloves and I just hope this didn’t replace regular hand washing.

Ordered here 28th July 2020 after previously trying them last year and leaving a good review. Really gone down hill, not the same, not at all authentic Indian food. Chicken was disgusting, very dry. Curry was dry too, we ordered Dupiaza and rogan josh, both dry and taste much like a ready meal type curry but drier. For starters we had chicken bhuna which was the strangest I've ever seen, it was wrapped up like a parcel/pastie type appearance. Garlic nan was similar to a supermarket packet type. CHIPS! My god! Must be the cheapest frozen ones you can get! Totally uneadable, this was the deciding factor on me phoning Passage to India to complain, only to be told the manager was out at the moment and would ring me back. Don't bother, keep serving food like this you will not last, even if there is no competition in the area. Not cheap either, quite expensive.If you fancy an Indian takeaway whilst staying in Whitby, don't bother and wait till you get back home.

My wife and I ate here last night 29th July and the food and customer service was excellent we had chicken tikka masala and chicken korma,would definitely return

Visited on Sunday 26th July at roughly 9.30.The first thing that stuck out was the waiter not wearing his mask when the other two were. The waiters weren't as pleasant as they could have been.For drinks we ordered a large Coke and and a bottle of water. The drinks came and the Coke wasn't large it was a half a pint. The bottled water came in two glasses, why didn't they give me the bottle unopened. This makes me think if it was tap water!My wife had a poppadom with four dips of which one was foul but some people may well love it.For starter i had chicken Tikka and my wife had chicken puree. I thought the chicken Tikka was dry and not value for money. My wife liked her puree.For the main course we both ordered Chicken Tikka masala i had fries with mine and my wife had chicken rice.My masala was good but my wife thought hers was too sweet and not what she was expecting. My chips were fine but the wifes rice was dry.When the bill came part of it was unreadable. That part was the drinksOverall we were disapointed with our visit and probably wouldn't visit again. We paid £38+ which wasn't value for money

Terrible experience. Main meals brought out before starters, then asked if we wanted them together. Garlic mushrooms came in a strange green sauce. Main meals which contained chicken were just kept warm. Needless to say I spent most of the night in the bathroom.

Awful food was bland, ignorant waiter staff who did not communicate, watched them clear the tables and just wiped rice onto the floor and left it there, carpet disgusting trodden food, no customer service at all Not even asked how your meal is or if you enjoyed it Won’t be back

Dined here Monday night. Nice little restaurant in excellent location with polite staff. They do a "special " all inclusive meal (for 2 or 4 persons) which seems good value at just £34.95 so went for that. Starters (mixed kebab) were disgusting, greasy, tasteless and well, just horrid. These were followed by the mains which unfortunately were equally bad having neither the correct flavour, spiciness or consistency of cooked to order Asian cuisine and the "pilau" rice was simply ordinary boiled long grain rice with a bit of cood coulouring scattered in - none of the traditional pilau ingredients were there - utterly bland, and rather nasty. IMO this restaurant is being dishonest in its claim to be serving classic Indian cuisine. My advice to would be diners - dont waste your money & buy a curry pot noodle instead. It'll be more authentic and enjoyable than the food here.

Extremely bland, tasteless food. Mixed starter, onion bhajee like an oily sponge, undercooked and soggy (fried at too low a temperature or overloaded fryer) with a strange inpleasant flavour - yuk. Chicken bhuna had absolutely no aroma and didnt taste of anything at all and had nasty gloopy conistency and was almost the same as the chicken madras (looked the same and tasted the same but hotter). This food does not appear to be cooked to order in their own kirchen. Pilau rice was certainly not basmati, overcooked, stodgy and not a hint of ghee, clove, cardamom, bay or cassia and served dry and clumped together - not nice. All in all everything about our meal was very poor and none of our food smelled, tastes or looked like Indian restaurant food.

We came here on out last visit and must have been impressed as we sought it out for my partners birthday. The food was ok but when it eventually came out, my partners was the wrong dish and the rest was cold, it was if they forgot us because most of the food was cold and I had to ask for the meat to be reheated. Too late for the chapatti though. The staff were friendly but over worked. The cleanliness was an issue though for us though; the carpet desperately needed a vacuum and the gents wasn’t great. Not the special birthday meal we had wanted.

After reading some of the reviews it seemed we had visited a different restaurant. Our experience was not a good one. The starter was OK. I had lamb sag with pilau rice as a main it wasn't tasty. Very bland. My husband had a tandoori mixed grill which he said was tasteless just plain pieces of meat on a plate. We both left most of our meal. Very disappointed would not visit again when we are in the area.

The food here used to be very good,Im a local person who has eaten here many times in the last few years. Just had the worst take away ever, rancid onion salad which I had just put over the chicken dhansak which is supposed to be cooked with lentils, no lentils to be seen!!!! Just a watery sauce. My wife ordered a tandoori mixed grill, was just stewed meat not even a sign of grilling. Popodums which were soft to eat. Also I have never seen mango chutney which is florenscent orange. Where has the good chef gone. Only cost just under£40 bonus. NOT.

Put 90% of it in the bin after spending £40 on a treat take away that we have worked all month for and were looking forward to. So cross and so disappointed. There where no spices, no flavour, I can't believe how disappointed we are to pay so much for a treat that was just dry, tasteless rubbish. Sorry passage to India but I'm so, so disappointed it was terrible.

Mixed kebab starter was very bland. Full of grease and tasteless. Garlic chilli chicken on the other hand was too spicy to be enjoyable.Cutlery was just plonked down on the table, we had to ask for serviettes and one of the waiters was extremely anti-social.To top it off we asked for the sweet menu and we are still waiting for them to come back and take our orderPossibly the worst Indian meal I have ever had!

Wrong order with missing items. Everything was cold despite waiting on it earlier than agreed time. Tough gristly lamb, tail and shell on prawn in the currie. 2 workers smoking outside with dirty stained trousers on. Never again

After looking at reviews on trip advisor we was looking forward to a nice family meal. Where do I start, we got our starters with no cutlery to go eat them with. The lettuce was going brown, greasy onion bhaji and fatty lamb chops. Was hoping the main was an improvement. We ordered chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken and a lamb bhuna. I have never had to send any food back but the rice was like rubber ( been warmed up to much in microwave) the lamb bhuna was swimming in ghee, chicken tikka masala had burnt chicken in it, the tandoori chicken was dryer then the Sahara desert. The only thing that was warm was the rice when it reappeared. £55 out of pocket and disappointed that it was out first meal out for months. Some staff was nice some wasn’t so, you will get a track and trace letter shoved in your hand when you arrive.

On a weekend break in Whitby and decided to try this Indian restaurant. Very nice. Staff friendly and food nice. Liked the atmosphere. Would go again when in Whitby. I had mixed starter which was nice and keema and peas main course which was nice but could have done to be a bit more spicy as just like mince and peas. My husband had chicken puree for starter which was really nice but huge. For main he had lamb kam extra spicy. Wow it really was very hot but again really nice!

Ordered set meal for 2 - chicken pakora to start was avenge and butter chicken was more like a korma. Cheese nan was small, overall dinner was nice but room for improvement.

I ordered a butter chicken takeaway, it arrived in a plastic box with "Butter Chicken" writen on the lid in felt tip pen. So far, so good. I opened it and was surprised to find a very pale beige substance inside. It smelled strongly of coconut, was slightly gritty and tasted sickly sweet. It was obvious to me that this was a Chicken Korma, something I would never have ordered. I rang the restaurant to ask them to exchange this for an actual Butter Chicken, offering to drive to the restaurant to collect it. The manager vehemently denied any mistake and said, "If it says butter chicken on the lid it cannot possibly be a korma". I was given the wrong meal once before when dining in the restaurant but they replaced it as one of my friends, a 6'5" fireman, did the complaining on my behalf.

Took our children and grandchildren here for a wonderful meal. Something to suit everyone. the food was delicious and they made us very welcome, fitting us in as a big party. very good prices too

Good food good service delivered to the door. Only a very slight thing to be aware of is that the food needed to be just warmed up slightly. But great tasting and plenty of it. Well done.

The evening was lovely, attentive team, well presented and well mannered , food was delicious, not rushed out of the kitchen to get you in and out of the restaurant. Had the meal deal for two. Was delishBill was 44.95 or so it looked to myself but 47.95 was taken on card, I saw but didn't say anything as evening was lovely and I could have been mistaken on the bill and wasn't causing a scene I've 3£ in case I was wrong. just check your bill thoroughly as would have left a bigger tip than 3£....

We visited this restaraunt, as a couple Valentine's night after pre-booking.

Popped in on a quiet Monday evening. Had a nice India beer while waiting for the food. Spent the time talking to a friedly lady behind the counter. Food was quick, piping hot (was still hot after a 6 mile taxi ride), and nice and spicy. The Vindaloo had just the right heat for me.

Myself and my boyfriend ate here on our first night in Whitby and it was delicious! It was a Thursday night and so it was quiet but that was perfect for us as it meant super speedy service and attentive staff. Very tasty meal and good value for money too.

I gave this place a poor review last time so I am pleased to report a vast improvement with better staff and which in turn offered better service which flowed. It still needs a refit but I am sure that will come. The curry was good and pleasant served.

Went here planned with wife and kids. 4 starters 3 mains, 2 rice's, 2 breads, 2 sweets, 1 liqueur coffee and 4 poppadoms with pickles. 2 glasses of red and a pint of cobra. Less than 80 quid so fair priced. Foooood.... Starters were tasty but I was disappointed with the mixed kebab as there was no lamb but, every restaurant is different, as for taste yes ticked a box. Mains OMG why do I do this to myself. Dupiaza and asked for madras hot. Not for the faint hearted but very tasty, rice's were all great, tikka masalla was lovely and rogan was as it should be. Deserts well.... It's just pre packed ice creams in novelty shapes as are all Indian restaurants so no surprises. Lager was good, coffee positive they stuck a double in and staff were really nice. Would have been a 5 star other than the mixed starter but that is only because my son got lamb tikka and it was lovely, but that's just my taste. Would go back.

Just had a lovely meal here. Went for the set menu for 2 which allows 2 starters, 2 mains, a side, rice and a naan for £32. Drinks were pricy at £4.50 for a pint of cobra. Service was great. Word of warning, I ordered a Bhuna and it was far too hot/spicy, more like a mild madras. My partner got a madras and it nearly took his head off. Yes I’ve had better Indian meals but I’ve also had far, far worse. Would definitely come back next time I’m in Whitby.

Me and my wife arrived 10pm ish, only a 2 min wait to be seated, still reasonably busy. Poppadoms and pickle tray arrived about 10 secs after ordering, with it being late we didn't do starter. Main meals were fab, portion size good. Friendly staff. We are regular visitors to whitby but we'd never been before but we definitely will in the future, or even for a takeaway.

This was a bit too far away to walk back to the B&B; so we arranged a delivery.

What a great restaurant, staff and food were all amazing. We arrived at 10pm and nothing was too much trouble. Definitely worth a visit.

My wife and I bought a £25 meal deal for 2 while on a family holiday in Whitby.

Good service \ hot clean food \ couldn't find a fault topper \ finished with a brandy & baileys .Hot towels to clean and away back to ruswarp.

Service & food could best be described as average. Most of the chicken dishes we had appeared to be chicken Tikka based for some reason. I was informed the Madras seemed to be well under spiced whilst other dishes were vastly over spiced to the point where it was unpleasant to eat. This place could & should do so much better.

Reading the mixed reviews on here made us very apprehensive about visiting this restaurant however we had nothing to worry about the food and service was great. I’d highly recommend the Duck Tawa which was spiced sliced duck breast with caramelised onions and peppers and came on a sizzling cast iron skillet. We also had the Palak Gosht, Saag Paneer, Tarka daal, pilau rice and cheese garlic naan. All the food was delicious and the portion sizes were just right. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was good. Don’t be put off by the bad reviews the restaurant was very busy and full of happy customers and the prices were reasonable.

Went here Friday night had a lovely relaxing meal so much so that we went back Saturday evening, just as good, pleasant friendly staff, tasty spicy food and reasonable prices, will call again next time in Whitby x

We generally have one curry a week as curry is our favourite food and so visiting Whitby we decided to try Passage to India.

Mixed reviews on here but we decided to give it a go as next to where we were staying. So glad we did as our food was hot, tasty and presented beautifully. Would certainly return.

Had to say some of the reviews put me off but when i came myself it was lovely. The staff were very nice and food came out fast nothing was too much trouble. Price was reasonable as portion sizes were large. You will not go hungry here. I would come again

We booked a table for 9, 6 adults and 3 children. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We had read mixed reviews on here beforehand but can honestly say our food was delicious. We eat Indian food often and our table ordered several different dishes and we all enjoyed our choices. We would definitely go back.

Came here on a whim on a rainy evening...just what the doctor ordered. The food was great, atmosphere nice. When the waiter brought the bill, there was a complimentary apperetif to boot. So good, we went back later in our trip and were not disappointed

Service was friendly enough but found the portion sizes were on the smaller side for the money charged for them, especially the starter onion bajees.

Had a curry here I had chicken madras and my partner had chicken tikka rogan josh both the curries looked exactly the same apart from mine was hotter the food was very bland and not spicy at all the mango chutney tasted like the jar stuff that you can get and was very very sweet , the naan bread was nice though wouldn’t eat here again we were warned that there wasn’t a decent curry house in whitby we should have taken notice .if a decent Indian opened in whitby it would clean up.

Its a ritual to come here each time we visit the East coast so we didn’t bother to check the reviews. Places changes over time of course and its fairly obvious when this happened reading through the recent reviews. That will teach me to check the reviews in future as to be honest we wont be going back.

The food is very flaversome with plenty of choice. The staff are friendly and readily available. We have visited this restaurant on many occasions now, and have always been very satisfied.

Ordered King Prawn Masala, Chicken Karahi, rice and Naan (take away). Order was ready fairly quickly. Total disappointment. The prawn dish just tasted of coconut, the chicken was well over cooked and was very minty. Even the Naan was way over cooked and tasted of nothing. Definitely won’t be going back.

Had a great meal here. Staff were really nice and friendly, food was lovely, not over priced either. Really enjoyed it. Would recommend

Modern trendy style, no flock wallpaper, great foood and drink at a very reasonable price. Group of 5 comfortably managed on a Friday night. Big surprise was quite a few waiting staff from Romania.

Ordered another takeaway and yet again the naans were burnt.... My chicken balti tasted nothing like a balti I've ever tasted... It had an "odd" taste to it.
