Breakfast was lovely, staff were great. I had scrambled eggs on toast with smoked bacon, great eggs but toast was a little hard. The only niggle was that when I came to buy a slice of banana loaf with biscotti, the slice I have been presented with was small compared to slices on display!! £4.50 for basically half a slice!!

So this place isn't necessarily cheap- it's kind of the pricier side for a cafe, like what you'd expect to pay in a trendy hipster sort of place. But the food is something you would expect from a five star restaurant. Absolutely amazing. I had the Portobello mushroom confit with butter bean mash. Through some magic marination and cooking process the mushroom was tender, soft, juicy and fatty, almost like chicken thigh in texture. The butter bean mash was delicious and the perfect accompaniment. The rich, oily sauce was so good I was scraping it up with the sourdough. My date said admiringly "real artistry has gone into this food". I'm inclined to agree.

The shop’s atmosphere was pretty good. Two people tried to go in for a quick coffee but we were told the shop is closing, only we can get takeaway. We asked again - only need cups of coffee use the toilet and we’ll be out and we did exactly what we said. I couldn’t taste lovely looking filo pastry or anything. Coffee was nice but a bit light for my taste. At the entrance a guy with glasses who let us in he was nice and polite but waiting stuff a bit in a hurry to finish, close and go mood. I was in a rush to order and again in a rush to pay my bill. One of waiting staff was very friendly, thank her but she didn’t serve us :-))

Took my family for brunch. Honestly, a disappointing gastronomical experience given the price. Kids meals not as generous as other brunch spots. I ordered the partisan breakfast- full English - it came in a skillet which was a nice gimmick but didn’t think a great deal to the quality of produce. Sausage was fairly bog standard, sourdough was cracker crispy and almost too hard to eat. Homemade beans are a nice addition but didn’t make up for the rest. Better places to grab brunch in York and can’t quite understand why it is so highly reviewed.

Four of us enjoyed a lunch of two Partisan breakfast, chorizo sandwich and Sobrassada de Mallorca. Mine was the latter and it was very tasty served with sliced pear, brazil nuts and goats cheese on bread. Everyone else enjoyed theirs too and they looked really good. Finished odd with a nice wedge of cake. Staff were very nice and attentive, service was good. Will be back. Saw plenty turned away so recommend booking. Ladies toilets doubles as the disabled which I found annoying but understandably so due to the footprint of the building.

This was our second time visiting here, and after our first visit, we were so excited to be back!! However, the service was chaotic, and we found the owner in particular to be slightly rude. We had pre-booked, yet were walked outside to sit in their marquee in the pouring rain? The marquee was heated, but I think this should be for walk in customers only, as it wasn’t a very clean or welcoming place to be sat. We asked to be moved inside, and the staff were accommodating and got us seated indoors which we were relieved with. The food itself is absolutely INCREDIBLE and one of the best brunches we have ever had. It did take almost an hour to arrive though, and the pricing is very high… Great food and great potential, just don't think the restaurant can cope well with a high amount of customers which is letting it down a bit.

This place was probably wonderful a while back, but now its reputation outstrips the experience. The inside area is cosy, but most seating is outside, either under a large umbrella or in a white plastic gazebo, on uncomfortable chairs. Food was tasty and looked good, but mine, the sobrassada, was very greasy (in a chorizo greasy not cooking greasy) way, so I left craving something sharp and cleansing and my friends thought their poached eggs were undercooked. It was good food, but just felt overrated, not a place worth queueing outside of for standbys.

Went to York for a weekend away and found out about this highly rated restaurant and dropped by for breakfast with no booking. There was a que and a lady outside informed us that we will have to wait for our turn and that she couldn’t say for how long but she added,” it is worth the wait, guys”. So we decided to wait and then another girl came out taking note of the group size of ppl waiting. In 15 minutes we were in and got seated. It was a packed, busy place with quirky, quaint vibes and wall hangings that you could also buy. A girl with a serious demeanour waited on us. She was good at her job and was nice to us though. I noticed that even though people were not rude like some others have written from their experience in their reviews, every one did smile less and had an attitude about them. But no one was unpleasant at all. It was a very busy place, people were doing their jobs, what could you expect! We gave our orders from their vegan n vegetarian food and drink options. The order took more than 30 minutes to arrive and that wait was painful because we were on a tight schedule but it is understandable that they were getting 4 different dishes ready and brought them all out at the same time. We bought an eggless cake meanwhile and it tasted okay, was dry. The food was visually pleasing and tasted fresh and delicious. You could really taste the freshness and the quality of the ingredients. The bread was very hard and was a bit of a disappointment. The drinks were good. The prices were on the higher side. It was a nice normal place, nothing out of the world. I would rate this place more if not for the food wait time and the appalling replies of the owner to customers who have given negative reviews here. A food place like this one should be more than about just the food, I believe. I might recommend my friends to give it a try once if they are in York but I wouldn’t not personally return only bcz of the petty and rude replies being given to customers for their negative reviews.
