Popped the last 2 nights for food..Lovely katsu Chicken!! Also very friendly staff(unlike most pubs) This morning realised I had lost my bag..called up the pub..and thankfully they had my bag. So many thanks ..really appreciate it!!!

Lovely atmosphere & great staff . The only downside is was that the music was loud so I couldn’t chat to my friends. They had a DJ so we didn’t stay as long as we planned and went somewhere when we could have a conversation . I do appreciate though some people may go there for the music but it’s a big pub and we weren’t sitting near the DJ - felt the sound volume was unnecessarily high.

Top notch place to meet up with friends Excellent value Seniors menu and my dog gives the doggy menu 5 stars too. Lovely,friendly helpful staff Lots of parking spaces.

We came for the quiz and the service was excellent. Lisa and Lennon took care of us and welcomed us as if we were regulars, they were friendly and professional even though they were busy. The only downfall was that we were unable to tip on the card payment machine which was disappointing and seems unfair as they worked really hard all night. We will remember to bring cash next time we go there.

I came here years ago and didn't likevit, today loved it. The food amazing, the service second to non. I will be back lol great place

Booked a table for eleven for a family celebration. Was very impressed with this pub. The staff were all really friendly and helpful, and the roast dinners were great, big portion sizes and lots of gravy. We were sat in an alcove which we had to ourselves with a nice big window. Which made it really special. Will definitely return!

We arrived at the park after hearing it was more of a restaurant than a pub. It’s not. It is a pub that serves food. Nothing wrong with that but we were a bit disappointed as it was lunch time it was mostly just day drinkers in there. We ordered our food from the selection of typical pub food options and it was expensive. Nearly £100 for 5 people for food and a drink. The member of staff behind the bar was very nice, I think his name was Ben. Our food arrived and it was good, nothing special. For the prices we paid it should have been truly amazing food but we enjoyed it. Perhaps a good place for a convenient lunch if you don’t care about money.

Was here for the derby brilliant atmosphere the staff was on point and got involved with cheering. Great to come into a pub where there is a good mix of both teams that all get along! Can’t wait to come back thanks guys!!

Booked Festive Fayre menu online. Paid deposit. Arrived and told we had to have pre-ordered food. Maybe my mistake but could find no where online to do this. Apparently you need to phone in advance or fill in paper form. Just not clear on website. However, the waiter did ask the chef and we were given a limited choice. Just felt a bit awkward, but, ready to make the most of it. It was OK for the price but did not live up to expectations of the menu descriptions. When we came to pay the bill they had no record of our deposit. Come on Greene King get your communications sorted.

We went to The Park for a family night out! The food was amazing and the staff were even better, so welcoming and gave great recommendations. The Park is a pub that that really sticks with you because of how friendly and accommodating the staff are and really make you feel at home! I would recommend going here to anybody looking for good drinks, lovely food and a wonderful atmosphere.

It was the first Saturday of outside eating and the sun was shining. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and the ipa was delicious. After a few minutes in the shade we were offered a table in the sun which was great. I'm sorry but that is all of the positives. We waited over 45 minutes for a natcho starter and then almost the same again for our main courses. My steak and ale pie was almost all pastry and gravy and my wife's chicken was only ok. The food was very average and disappointing. We are not saying don't go there, but we won't again. No, we didn't complain just paid and left. Perhaps our expectations were too high?

Accidentally became a regular because the service is excellent, staff are lovely and always do the extra mile for you to make you feel welcome and content!

This is a large pleasant building, it has covid-19 measures in place which seemed to work well. The staff were polite, some drinks were ordered at the bar, some by the app which worked well. The only down side was the Abbot was not worth drinking (which is normally a very good beer) and other beer was just OK. Some improvement in cellar work would help but overall very pleasant and a very good night out.

First time being here since lockdown. No complaints whatsoever. Distancing measures perfect. Food as good as ever. Don’t really know what people find to complain about. So you have to go in one door and out another. So what? Staff really friendly unless you start objecting to the rules All staff as welcoming to our party of 4 plus dog. Water and dog beds provided! Obviously if you want to bring a bigger party then you will have problems but not if you sit at different tables and observe the rules. Not the pubs fault is it? Will be back. Well done again Park Hotel.

Went with my family for a meal . Drinks took ages to be served after ordering on App . Glasses dirty and even the barman said they smelt awful . The meal then came and my partners chicken was raw inside ! I couldn't believe it !! How can you serve raw chicken ?? The 2 female bar staff attending to us had no customer service skills whatsoever. The whole experience was diabolical . We will never return to this place again . Such a shame this pub has ended up like this . The manager did reply to our review on the pubs website but it just sounded like excuses to cover up the fact that the food was awful , the place was dirty and the bar staff appeared to have no customer service training at all . Very disappointed!!! Please avoid at all costs and dont waste your money here.

Me and my partner drink at this pub most Friday nights and have to say how impressed we both are at how the staff seem to be handling the new guidelines in place. We have noticed changes which seem to put pressure on the team but they all work so hard to put them in place and manage them. I work in a hospital and was very cautious about coming out at first but we noticed they had signs up outside and stickers on the floor so that gave us confidence before going inside. Once inside the tables are all spaced out, staff wearing masks when bringing food and drinks out and a door person stopping people from coming in when too many at the bar all helped me and my partner relax. We have felt a little sorry for the staff as we have noticed them getting grief from people when directing them around to the exit door or making them wait outside until there is room inside and can’t believe people don’t realise what is happening in the world right now! Keep up the good work it is appreciated from most!

The Park has lost it’s vibe in the last 2/3 years, but now it’s even worse. Staff are rude, your unable to sit with anymore than 7 people, even from the same household. The female “bouncer” has no clue on the covid 19 measures. Patrolling the area as if it was some sort of school cantina, while shes watching out for any table with more than 6 people. Unlike other bars she doesn’t even wear a mask. We ordered, 2 members from our party were late walking up. The park has no signs or notice boards telling you it’s 6 per table, but they will happily take your money and allow you to order 7 drinks. Are drinks then got refused by the waitress (with no mask on) due to 1 to many from the same household. Plenty of better places to go in Birkdale that have better measures in place which cater for larger groups. And not to forget the so called “rules” seem to be different on weekdays which is probably the best time to visit Birkdale.

I have recently visited your establishment and i have to say i am extremely impressed with the way that you are handling the current situation. The information given at the door was precise and i didn't feel like i needed any more information. The bar staff were very helpful in giving me the different gins and wines available, even though i couldn't decide they were still very patient with me. Originally we came for drinks but we ended up getting food, the food service was wonderful, speedy and the staff that brought it over were polite and efficient. Thank you for making my visit enjoyable and I will make sure to come and visit again soon :)

I have to say I gave your pub another chance but regrettably your new found female immature bouncers that treat peaple with complete disrespect are nothing short of disgusting and in times like this peaple should be looking out for each oy8and not talking to them like dirtHopefully you can sort this out

Went for Sunday lunch with friends and we were greeted warmly and shown to a table after the now customary anti-bac treatment. They have a one way system around the pub which shows they are very organised and taking social distancing guidelines seriously. The tables were also well spread out and didn't feel over full. We ordered our food and it arrived promptly and was beautifully presented. It was well cooked and the generous portions were all delicious and tasted as good as they looked. I would highly recommend this friendly pub as a great place to enjoy an lovely afternoon or evening meal and drink whilst feeling safe in a well organised socially distanced environment.

I have drank in the park for 15 years won't be going back their is going to be a mass walk out of regular drinkers as of tomorrow certain members of staff are taking it uppon them self's to isolate an elderly gentleman who could buy and sell the buisiness and has been a piller of the community for many years in birkdale. I am 1 of 30 people who will not be returning after tommorow discusting behaviour to people who have supported this pub through thick and thin expect a massive drop in profits as we are going to open a bar over the road and take the clientele with us good bye. You only got 1 star as I had to give your one to post establishment 0 punters 3

Love coming to this venue and meeting up with friends and having food and drinks and great space for a big group of people.

We met in here at lunchtime on Monday. The staff were very polite and helpful.We ordered 5 meals and didn't have to wait long and I can say that we all enjoyed the food and it was great value for money.Have not been in at night but I can recommend this at lunchtime as the pub is comfortable and well worth another visit.

2 meals for 11.49 offer is superb value and both were very tasty. highly recommend the mac cheese with extra pulled pork

Management and staff need to crack down on lewd and rude male customers wolf whistling and making inappropriate comments to other customers, third time this has happened in as many visits.

Recently on a family caravan holiday from Scotland we decided to finish our holiday with Sunday lunch in the village pub On arrival we were greeted by a guy smoking in the entrance and what I think I heard he remarked was more noisy kids coming inWe found a table and looked at the menu but unfortunately the guy from the entrance came stumbling in on a crutch for God's sake he was as drunk as a lord but the staff continued to serve himApart from that there was a gang as I can best describe of men who were completely ridiculing a young bar maid with leud comments they were like a pack of animals What a shame for a family to see and hear

Been here a few times of late for lunch. It is close to station so easy enough to meet up with friends and enjoy a leisurely lunch with drinks. Food and service has been consistently good. My friend loves the filled Yorkshire pudding and I have tried several different dishes - all tasty and well presented. Not expensive either with a fair choice of food to suit all. Keep up the good work.

I met up with friends for a drink and a quick bite to eat,I also had my Big Fat Bull Dog in tow whom was treated like a king! Our experience was nothing but pleasureable. The staff where very courteous and attentive... special mentions to Stephanie, Lisa and Ellie.Our food was brought out promptly and was of an excellent quality. My dog was given water, biscuits and even his own velour blanket!!!Atmosphere was nice and chilled.....would definitely visit again and have recommended to others already!!Keep up the good work guys and mag just see you again soon!!!

Was staying locally for a short break and visited this pub while out for a walk with the dog. Lovely large pub a Inside and outside, friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere... but best of all an amazing place for dog walkers due to how welcomed they are! There’s dog bowls, dog treats and even dog blankets!!! Wow

Had an enjoyable family meal here ,8 people in total, and we all enjoyed our food and drinks.Only 1 person on the bar who was serving drinks, taking food orders and serving as well, ( probably not expecting a group of 8 on a Tuesday afternoon) , but we didn’t have to wait long and we’re served well by Ellie and the chef, thank you Ellie for your attention. Would definitely return

My opinion on not allowing dogs in pubs and restaurants was justified when I visited this pub with a friend who had a dog in tow. Lovely meal and pleasant staff, but I'm afraid said dog peed on the carpet. My friend wasn't unduly bothered, perhaps another dog had done the same previously,which encouraged such behaviour. I can only say that I wish food establishments etc would open their eyes and stop this obsession with dogs and realise the hygiene implications. I can only hope.

Came to meet my friend for tea was not disappointed food is gorgeous and sure will be returning 🥰 salmon salad was gorgeous and the parking is great Iv traveled from skelmersdale

Had some great food here with friends - gammon was lovely and well priced - 2 for £11.49! Perfect for a mid week meet up. Halloumi fries were just delicious!

Great bar, and not many places in birkdale you can actually have a laugh and joke with staff. Was in for cricket on Sunday I will be definitely be back

Had a lovely meal with 6 other family members, hot food with lovely portions. Inside the pub was warm and busy with other people eating (around 3pm)

I came here with my family a couple of weeks ago to fill the time while the kids are off school and the staff were lovely! Really friendly and helpful! The kids food were just right for them and it kept them quiet which was a bonus! Just wanted to say a thank you to the staff who catered for us and we will definitely be returning.

We almost bought a house in Birkdale a couple of years ago so would pop into the Park quite often. It had just been refreshed and looked very nice.

Last time a year ago was very good -now a dump with smelly beer from unclean lines -crap ping bong food and vinegar wine

the gents toilets pong with notorious drain smell lock on cubicle door hanging off one urinal out of use funny this much-loved pub's decline shld co-incide with so many new venues opening with more to come pls give Park some TLC x

I was drinking in Birkdale with a group of friends although we were seeking a bit more of an atmosphere so we headed to The Park Pub.

lovely service for the local lesbians me and my girlfriend thoughroughly enjoyed, even had a chat with chef Thomas on his break! what a lovely chap☺️

Had a lovely lunch here on good Friday, great food and wine at very reasonable prices, will definitely call again.

Me and my boyfriend came to eat here tonight. When the food came it wasn't what we had ordered. The 'manager' decided to argue the chicken breasts on the menu meant only 1 tiny piece of chicken and because the chef was Argentinan his spec was to cook 1 small piece of chicken instead of the advertised plural on the menu. When I questioned this (we paid over £10 for a tiny chicken breast and sweet potato fries, which by the way we asked for normal chips) his reaction was get what you are given or get out. I tried to explain that the menu said breasts plural but we would have the food as it was late and we were hungry (having waited over half an hour for food then a further 10 mins with him arguing) then we would have the food but I would be complaining. He then said we had to leave. I asked a colleague for his name and refused to give it me, as I was asking the 'manager' walked past and instructed his colleague not to give out his name. He then involved another person there and both proceeded to aggressively question why I was not leaving. This whole episode has left me very upset and I did nothing wrong except ask for the food we ordered as it was described on the menu. I will be taking this up with Greene King head office.

I haven't been in The Park for a while, my friend and I thought we'd pop in for lunch. We were welcomed by a lovely lady who was very pleasant and chatty. I ordered the mac n cheese and my friend had the sirloin. The food was piping hot and very tasty. Lovely atmosphere with family's enjoying lunch also. We will be back again soon.

A lovely traditional pub with the bar open to walkers till 3pm then exclusive to Christmas diners till 5.30pm. The pub has had staffing problems this year however they were superb, worked hard to make Christmas Day work. Food was excellent, chef was relaxed enough to come out of the kitchen to talk to customers.

Been in here a few times. It had quickly started to have a noticeable decline recently. But we decided to give it one more try.

We had decided to go to the Park for lunch, we do not book in advance on the assumption that f you want our business you will prove it on the day? We got our drinks and said that 10 of us would be eating. We were told that would be fine but we might Have to wait over 30 minutes to be served. When we came to order our food we were told that the restaurant was closed as the chef had walked! I do not call this the best restaurant in Southport or any where near I had to wait nearly 5 minutes just to get a drink!!!!

Having been here a few times since my last review I thought it was time for an updated review.

3 people, early evening,very quiet, took nearly an hour to serve a starter meal, gammon, egg and chips and a bowl of soup, food was nice and tasty when it finally arrived, no one came to check if we were happy with our meal, we ate, we left, this is the second time we have had indifferent service, we will not be going back, pity as it's close to home and reasonably priced.

Just been in this place ..waited several minutes to try and get served (it wasn’t busy)but the barmaid was paying no attention to who was waiting as she was too busy chatting to friends admiring her nails and chewing a furbee ! When she did ask who was next to be served a lady who arrived after me and my partner just fired off her order even though she was quite aware she wasn’t next in line .... this is my pet hate ( unaware staff) hence we walked out ... sort your staff out

Stopped here for a quick lunchtime drink, pub was clean and tidy , with a choice of interesting guest ales, Andy looked after us with a try before you buy on the ales and sorted a nice coffee out even tho the machine was out of action, he also gave us some good local information for places to visit etc on our holiday. Will certainley visit again when in the area.

With the Leicester V Liverpool game coming up I decided to plump for the Park for the venue for lunch with the family. I booked well In advance online for 5 people and entered a special request to try to be close the screen.

The pub was friendly, clean and efficient. Coupled with that, there was the added bonus of great food and low priced drinks

Popped in last night for a meal and couple of drinks. The food was good and very reasonable. Wide choice of drinks on a special offer.

What can I say.....I never give a bad review but this was just unbelievable. Four of us turned up at 6 p.m. on a Tuesday night...lots of tables so all okay. Bar was quite busy and there was only one person serving. We ordered drinks and food and told there would be a 20 - 25 minute wait. So we waited and we waited and we waited.....eventually I went to complain but there was nobody to complain to...the guy behind the bar said he had no idea were the Manager was "somewhere outside" I was told.

Called in here for a drink last night, it was early and fairly quite for a Saturday evening, the staff were not that warm or welcoming! I asked for a coffee but the ‘machine’ wasn’t working, (have you not got a kettle then! )

Popped in for the Spain game on the way past beer was good and the staff and customers were a laugh.

Visted the Park at around 4:30pm 28/06/18 pub was very quiet, waited over five minutes to be serve and give our order, then waited about 50mins for two fish & chips plus one order of white bread, two tiny fish and less than 10 chips each turned up, had to ask for the bread, brown bread arrived, told him it was white bread order an other five mins bread arrived, 10mins between the coffee orders. Dead bugs on window sill next to our table and the fork already on the table was coated in food. No sorry for the wait etc. The Park needs trained staff that give a toss. Never again will we waste money in the Park again, shame!

Came here for Father’s Day. I had roast pork Sunday dinner and it was fabulous and then had Apple pie for afters which was yummy

It is always disappointing to say something negative, but our group of friends have met here regularly over the last couple of years and although the staff are friendly and helpful, the waiting time for meals has not improved. On our latest visit we had to wait over an hour for soup! When it came, there was only one type left of the variety we had ordered, so others had to choose from other varieties offered. Some of the group got sandwiches and salads before the soup. There were 9 of us and only about 9 other customers, so they were't busy. This really isn't good enough Park Hotel. We were offered a free dessert, or a written note to have a free dessert on our next visit. Sadly we weren't able to take up the offer, as we won't be returning for our regular 'get-togethers'.

Came here for tea with my family. Was served by a young girl. Very smiley and bubbly think her name was sharn! Great customer service skills for a young lady. Food was amazing. Place was very clean an my kids loves the atmosphere. Will defo be going again

My wife and I ate here on Wednesday, during the Liverpool v Roma game, which we initially decided would be a bad idea. The place was heaving and food had over an hour wait... but we were advised and wanted to watch the match so it was fine. I must say, the pub got everything spot on. The volume was at a good level, plenty of screens, and we were waited on by a staff member called Andy who, aside from apologising plenty, was bright, friendly and attentive and made sure we were looked after for the entire night. We did have to wait a while but it was amazingly busy so well done to the chefs, and the food was worth waiting for in the end as a bonus too. For a fun environment for football, with nice food to boot, I recommend this pub definitely. Will be returning!

Went here for a family get together my sister and I ordered the roast beef !!! we both sent it back the meat was black in places the roast potatoes were so crisp the knife would not cut them on the whole we were very disappointed been going to this pub for many years won't be going again need to change the chef

Having never visited the Park Hotel despite only living a few minutes away, my wife and I were pleasently surprised by the selection of gins and cask ales! Great customer service by Georgia who recommended the chicken fajitas from the new menu which were superb. Will 100% be returning, with family in tow!

Great food, great service and lovely staff. Always attentive, friendly and fun. Andy is great. Thoroughly enjoy my visits and will continue to return regularly.

We called in yesterday (17/2/18) for lunch.We waited and waited for the barman who seemed to be permanently attached to his mobile phone,to take ours and other people's orders.In the end a lady went to find him as he'd disappeared.He was in the area behind the bar,still engrossed in his conversation.He continued using his mobile while taking orders!!! We left and will not be returning.

Went today for lunch. Highly recommended for food which was wholesome and flavoursome. I had the Pork Burger and my wife had Scampi and Chips. Excellent staff who were very attentive and friendly. Plenty of drinks to chose from with real ales. I have not been for years and pleasantly surprised by the surroundings which were very comfortable. The piped music was soothing and at a low volume which we liked, unlike some other establishments in Birkdale! Watch out as you have to pay for parking in their car park (£2) but you get a refund when you buy your drinks and food. There was a car park attendant visiting at the time we were there checking up that the cars had a ticket. I saw at least one car getting filmed and was issued with a ticket. Could be a costly lunch if you ignore this!

We were surprised that food was being served when we visited one lunch time recently, as on the previous two visits they weren't serving food at all. With hindsight it would have been preferable had this been the case this time. The batter on the fish was really thick; when I did get through it, shards of batter shot everywhere. The tiny piece of cod inside was extremely dry and on the borderline of being inedible. It's possible that other people's opinion of the food is similar, as there was only one other group of diners at the height of a Saturday lunch time. I rarely give such a negative review, but on this occasion it's unavoidable. It's a shame, as the Park is beautifully appointed in the centre of Birkdale Village. It's tastefully decorated, too. Unfortunately, we won't be back anytime soon.

My husband and myself went to Park Hotel just for couples of drinks ! Nice atmosphere , good staff ! Beer was fine!

Went in the afternoon for coffee and cake special - great cake, great service and great value for money - dog friendly too! Scored a 5 but to get even better a proper coffee machine would be awesome!

The Park Hotel is a lively pub offering a good food menu. It is well worth a visit. It is well situated in the centre of Birkdale and is within ten minutes walk from the Birkdale Guest House.

Love this place, non alcoholic beer. Great food, sandwiches, pulled pork. Sorry if you don't like .. we do.!!!!! The staff work so hard and my Black Russians come in handy!

A lovely but overworked lad served us but had to run off to serve food whilst speaking to us. I had steak which was a mostly fat and entirely inedible. The chips were hard and full of black bits. Coleslaw was insipid. My partner had fish and chips and the fish was grey! We complained and food was removed from the bill without question immediately. It was as though they knew the food was poor and were waiting for us to complain. The bread was stale and the peas were shrivelled. The toilets were rotten! And it was still expensive for drinks, after our vile food was removed. We went to the chippy on the way home as I was starving. Nice bar guy though.

Used to really like this pub. It now takes forever to get served as there seems to be no urgency at all with the staff, the prices seemed to have shot up to the point where it is now more expensive then some of the more 'premium' locations in the village,and oddly the pricing is inconsistent; many times I have gone the bar twice and been charged different pricesThere are better places to drink now around Birkdale

I don't understand for one minute why all these positive reviews have come up for this place!Walking in, it's one of the most ghastly decorated places I've ever seen. Painted in dark grey, while the bare bulbs hang above your head in mockery of any semblance of comfort you may have been expecting, you immediately suspect you have mistaken the pub for the funeral parlour! I went in feeling in need of comfort, with a slight headache, and emerged after a food nightmare with a full blown migraine.As for the food, well, where should I start? It took three trips to the bar to find something they actually had in stock. No salmon nicoise, no salmon anything else, no sausage and mash. Meanwhile, the cheese sandwich and chips that had been asked for at the beginning of the disastrous order had actually been put through, and arrived at the table twenty minutes before somebody else's coffee and muffin. A further twenty minutes later and some linguini, a further cheese sandwich and chips (for another member of our party) , and another meal arrived. Absolutely disastrous!The sandwiches were dry, on unbuttered bread, while the linguini, which had cost a hefty eleven quid, was in a class of its own: a small plate of linguini containing a slice of red pepper and topped by what was almost certainly reformed, previously frozen chicken strips. Never again! What an horrendous waste of money!I must finish, though, by saying that the staff seemed to comprise of the nicest people on the planet, so very well done to them.

My friend and I recently celebrated our birthday with a group of friends at the park. We had an amazing time lovely food great atmosphere and superb staff extremely friendly and professional.

First visit but defiantly not the last, stopped in for a drink and a bite to eat after catching a film, was welcomed with smiles and great service, made to feel welcome, food was lovely as well. Will be returning.

Popped in randomly for a quick pint and a bit of food, Fantastic team working and didn't make me wait for long. The food was great and delivered quickly with a smile. See you again soon :)

We all had 3 courses for my brothers birthday which was reasonably priced and had a good range of choices for all tastes. Even my picky 15 year old enjoyed the food!3 of us decided to have the Beef & Ale pie, now a firm favourite. It was cooked to perfection. The side dishes were also generous, the chips were hot, crispy and fluffy in the middle.The desserts were beautifully presented but l don't think anyone could finish theirs!As for the service, it was excellent. I will definitely return here on my next visit.

Stopped here on the off chance when visiting friends locally the staff were very friendly food was great served with a smile my friend as a gluton allergy and staff were very knowledgeable nothing was too much trouble would highly recommend and will be back

Called in today for a quick drink on our way to friends lovely atmosphere and staff very helpful . Definitely recommend and will visit again ....
