Papas Super Fish Takeaway in Medway

We ordered 22 OAP portions of fish and chips to collect at 12.15pm. They were finishing off boxing the food when we got there. The portions were a very good size. Each portion was boxed and were still hot when we got them home. The fish and chips were both excellent. We were so happy with the service .

Fish and chips OK but nothing special. The fairly expensive large cod was quite small and the curry sauce was possibly the worst chip shop curry I have had. The large chips are fine for 2 (or 3 with smaller appetites). Not good value, but OK tasting fish and chips

Not too bad , a hot somewhat enjoyable meal. Sadly food quite bland to be honest , with the prices of this place so high I expect bigger portions ( 4.30 ) for small chips half of what you can see in the attached photo . 20 chips ….. I’ll go elsewhere in future ohh and there large cod at the time of my purchase was 11.70 , you can draw your own conclusion by the photo but too me that looks small

Honestly, it is the greatest fish and chip shop in Kent. Customer service is fantastic and the chef is lovely.

Tasteless food. Burnt battered sausage. The savaloys were rock hard. Curry sauce was cold and the chips were mushy! Waste of money! And expensive for what I got! £13.50 for that and the chips was a small portion!! Won't recommend, nor will I be returning. Rochester Maidstone Rd is by far better!!

Working all around Kent you get to know good chippies. Ive been coming back here for years, always had great food.

Usually good food but does get busy. Last night waited for 25 minutes for 1 large cod and chips but others who ordered after me with similar orders were served before me!

Low quality food. Very long wait for it as order kept getting put of for the staff friends who came in, what was a simple order took 25 min due to this. Hate to see what it's like when busy. First and last time using, better chippys down the road

To be honest I like this restaurant regarding the delicious food and friendly staff. The problem is with the deliveries as they never start to prepare the delivery orders before the driver arrive which is a big delay for the drivers but also for the costumers who order online as they waiting extra time just for nothing. The delivery policy said that they must start to prepare order after order arrives not after driver arrive but they don't mind.

Yeah I'm going to be the one to give one star, food tastes amazing but they're constantly upping prices and lowering food quantity. Just got a large chips and it was ridiculously tiny. Really not worth going here anymore because the portion sizes are just ridiculous now. A large portion use to do our whole family, today I barely got my 2 teens chippy supper done and now have to go make something else to go with my fish 🙄

Long established fish and chip shop. Good quality food, portions on the smaller side compared to others in the area. Premises are clean and staff friendly. Prices also comparable to others. I believe you can phone your order through, definitely recommend doing that on Fridays.

Long established fish and chip shop on City Way Rochester. Quality of the food is very good with prices on the higher side and portion sizes smaller than some other local businesses selling the same products. The staff are polite and friendly. The business is popular and can be very busy at peak times,I believe they do accept orders by telephone

Haven't been for two weeks and find a medium cod up by 90p. From £7:00, to ,£7:90. It's just a little bit expensive and chips small £2:30.. Yes, we're all aware of price rises, but 90p a bit heafty, it's no longer an end of week treat. And pensioner's priced out. Just a little too far !

Outrageous customer service. I arrived on what I assume is a normal night for this fish and chip shop, which was busy with customers treating themselves to a take out. After queuing for a short time my order was taken - people arrived after me who also placed their order. I noticed that those who arrived after me were served first to leave the shop after a short wait. I thought nothing of this…however I took issue with the poor service when a couple arrived to place a larger order (9 pieces of cod. I order a take out for 3 people) after me, was served their order and left the shop after a short while. I spoke to the lady who took my order enquiring why my order was taking so long - I had been waiting in the shop for 20 mins by then! (People arrived after me and left before me during that time!) I was given no explanation with a halfhearted apology. I decided to cancel my order after waiting around for close to 25 minutes. The staff at Papas Super Fish demonstrated prejudice discriminatory attitudes towards me causing me to feel uncomfortable and unsafe with their practices towards me as a customer. I would not recommend this fish shop by any accounts.

Says it’s open on Sunday from 4:30pm so we waited only to find it was closed. Wish they would update there operating times.

Can’t complain about the food as is shut when says it’s supposed to be open - change hours or stick to the ones on the website (4:30-10)

Always had good experience but not today! My Aunts Haddock was cooked fresh and to the usual high standard ( thank god because at 90 she can be difficult lol) ...but the medium cod I was served was mostly batter and very, very dry. Definitely not what I have experienced previously and I just hope it does not form a pattern for the future as we have not been for some time. Great shame

I was looking for a good quality fish and chips shop about 7 years ago My Turkish restaurant owner friend said that Greek owner shop is the best in the area since its My favourite fish and chips shop.

Visited as we come out lockdown shop was not working to 2 metre rules and most customers didn’t have masks when they should be wearing them Tried food few times always dreadful Ordered cod and chips was disgusting no way was it cod just some horrible tasting white fish chips always greasy Alway drive to mc coys at Wainscott or hoo Alway fresh not greasy and taste fantastic

Banging fish and chip shop, my local for years. Cod is fresh, crispy and succulent, saveloys on point. Great people who run it as well, very friendly.

Food was luke warm. After having fish and chips from here delivered home 3 times now we have only had them delivered hot once. Such a shame as I know they are normally gorgeous. Will be going to Ditton to eat in the future or in my car outside the Rochester shop.

I travel to this shop because I know the fish is always freshly fried and generous portions.

Absolutely discussed ordered fish and chips for my family off deliver roo and payed 28 pound to receive three pieces of fish no chips the manger offered no help was really rude and basically got told its your fault this used to be one of the best fish bar around but not now no customer service

After being let down by my regular chippy (closed, due to an oil leak - apparently) I Googled 'best fish and chip shops in Medway' and Papas popped up! I have to say, this place certainly lived up to the reputation. Delicious, fresh and hot food, coupled with super friendly staff! Well done to all. We will be back!

The quality of the food is generally quite high, but sometime the chips and fish can taste better or worse. There is often a large queue, especially on Saturday's, and you can wait a long time. The phone orders are quite slow, sometimes even longer than the normal queue.

today purchased some fish and chips , the fish was bad and chips not cooked long enough, when took back was told fish was fresh and there was nothing wrong with them, i have on a few occassions had to return fish to here and had fairly good customer service but this time was treated like i was scum , my wife who had by this time was getting angry stood outside and was telling the shop fish was rank , she was told to 'F**k Off ' by the owner very bad food and bad customer service avoid like the plague

This is an excellent fish and chip shop! I've been staying in the area and have used this place twice now! Absolutely outstanding quality of food!

Absolutely awful dinner, all the food was inedible the saveloy was split open so over cooked it was like rubber. Will never be returning here this is the second time our dinner has been ruined from this place.

Food always excellent, staff lovely and polite. Phone orders pointless, we ordered ours 20 minutes we were told, nearly an hour later and had to wait for extra scampi to be cooked as one our portions were given to another customer.

Went here for the first time last night waited 40 mins only to be told the quarter pound cheese burger I had order as well had been given to another customer and had to Wait a further 10 min for another one to be done when we got home and opened it up had no salad cheese was no existent very poor will not be visiting again

First time I've used this shop. Very nice food, very busy and takes a bit of time but well worth the wait. The fish was delicious and well cooked and the chips were lovely. Would highly recommend.

Our social club, in sheltered housing, had a fish & chip quiz evening. We ordered 26 boxed portions of fish & chips, mostly OAP size. They were collected and were ready on time. We all enjoyed the meal, very nice. And we thought good value for money.

I visited here on a Tuesday evening and had cod and chips served in a box! Which is always a good sign...especially if your travelling a little way with your precious food 😁 no batter sticking to the paper. The cod tasted lovley, white flakey and moist. The batter was thin and crispy and I've got to say virtually no grease 👍🏼also a big thumbs up for the chips, its a lovley clean place with helpful friendly staff behind the counter, will definitely be going back here 🙂

Been visiting this fish bar for some years now and it has always been good but lately the portions have become smaller. Today we as a family of five made a phone order to pick up, on arrival you still have to wait for your order to be cooked the same as if you had walked in and ordered. Our order was 4x medium cod 1x large sausage 1xlarge chips 1x pound chips and 2x gerkins which we only got one of when we got home. This little lot came to the grand total of £31 !!!!!!!!!!!! The portions are tiny the medium cold looked more like a battered goldfish we was all left hungry after so is a good bye from us bye bye,bye bye

Unfortunately this fish shop is not consistent, we had fish and chips on 20/02/2021 and it was perfectly cooked, as it was so nice we had it again on 27/02/2021 but it was not cooked properly, the chips and batter were soggy and not acceptable for the price.

Always had good fish and chips out here, but just seen that their food standards star rating is a 1* so I guess you never know what goes on behind the counter regarding cleanliness and food preparation and hygiene. I will re-check and only return once their star rating from the food inspectors has increased. Genuinely surprised that this place currently has a 1 star.. *****UPDATE.... Papas fish n chips shop now been issued with a 5* rating issued from the food standards agency. Had a fish n chips from them a few days ago and it was a tasty bit of fish and chips 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Foods good! But waited 25 min outside to then give up and order over the phone, told 20 mins, went back in as told, still not ready, extra 20 minutes. Over an hour for battered sausage and chips and a piece of cod. Sorry guys, know you’re busy, but shocking wait!
